America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is now 2-2 as a starter for your Buccaneers this season.
And he certainly earned the “W” today.
No, Jameis won’t go to the Pro Bowl after this showing against the 49ers, but he certainly executed what the Bucs asked of him. Protect the football. Stay consistent. Limit risk. Hit the open man.
Jameis finished the game 29 of 38 for 312 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jameis also ran well and smartly, 5 carries for 26 yards. Not a turnover to be found, which is almost hard to believe.
You can say, ‘Yeah, it’s the 49ers,’ but San Francisco had the NFL’s 10th-ranked defense before today.
Now Jameis is back in a rhythm as the starter. He’ll certainly get the call against the Panthers next week in Tampa, and that will be the kind of test Team Glazer and Bucs fans want to see him respond to.

There were some suspect throws early to DJax before the O line had fully asserted itself but no turnovers
Can Winston put together 6 in a row just like this against teams that will go to the playoffs? History says no. He seems to be getting another chance to show us.

There will be many times in the future to criticize the Bucs but today is not one of them. Bravo guys from top to bottom of the roster.

So Jameis finally figured out what I’ve been saying for years, which is basically take a page out of Tom Brady’s book: dink and dunk and take the quick safe completions. Hit them down the field just enough to keep them honest, instead of trying to be super QB on every single pass.
The key to being a great QB in this league is being boring but consistent.

I’ve seen Jameis have far better games throwing the ball…that game in Philly a couple years ago comes to mind…there are others.
But I agree this was one of JW’s best games in a Buc’s uni. He did what everybody screamed about….PROTECT THE BALL.
He missed DJAX a bunch again…he led ME13 out of bounds on that first big play or it was a TD…he wasn’t perfect but his movement in the pocket…keeping is eyes downfield and finding open guys and not FORCING it…taking what the D gave him…that’s all something I’ve been wanting to see from JW.
I give him an A- today.

First off, I am not a Winston hater. He played well today. $20 million worth well? I do not think so.
What makes me mad about this fan base is the willingness to accept average quarterbacking as if it will somehow have that Rocky moment and become champion. After 4 years, it is likely not to happen.
Jameis was a great college quarterback. But this is the NFL, the pros, the big time, where every player was a great college player. Many of you fans still Jameis in his FSU uniform in your mind. The NCAA game is not the same as the NFL game. Face it, at his current development Jameis is not in the league of a Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, or P. Manning.
You guys hope he will get there, but what if he does not? After 4 years pro it is not likely to happen. The sooner you see the reality of this you will see that perhaps the Bucs should let him go.
Today was a win, but it was against a beat up team in a game that does not matter for anything to either team. Let’s see how Jameis does against Carolina and New Orleans the next two week. If he does well i will give him props, but history of his career says otherwise.

Robert Nkemdiche has 2.5 sacks so far in the first half against the Chargers. He has 4.5 sacks for the season.

I think the Bucs need to go after LeVeon Bell build a competent defense and just outscore everybody like the Rams, Chiefs, and until the recently the Saints have been doing this season. Now if you ask me I’d rather go 3-13 or 4-12 than I would 6-10.
We go 4-12 last season and we have not one but 2 10 sack DE’s in JPP and Bradley Chubb, or we have one of the best O-lines in Football lead by Big Quenton Nelson and Barber already has close to 1k on the ground with around 7-8 redzone TD’s.
But nope, we got the win with no meaning and misssed out on them. Now I’ve not been like most around here who’ve consistently crapped on Vita Vea, but as of right now you still cant tell me you’d rather have him or 2 rookies who are having borderline All-pro seasons.

Good teams don’t need to pick in the top five to draft good players. Any player taken in the first round is capable of becoming a great player, provided they have the right coaching. Picking in the top five each year breeds a losing culture, which we have unfortunately created here.

Anyone ever stop to think that this is the first time that Monken got to call the plays for Jameis? If you think that Koetter was gonna let Monken get any credit for Jameis when he came back from suspension, you are nuts. Look at the difference in play calling today. Having said that, I cannot understand why he takes out Barber for Quarters 2 and 3. It makes no sense at all. BTW Jameis missed 9 passes and at least 3 were drops.

Should the Bucs ever obtain a running game then some of the pressure thats put on the back of jameis would be alleviated.
Part of the problem as i see it with Jameis is that he knows in order to win its on him .So ,he takes chances throwing the ball in tight windows or forcing plays when he should throw it away .Winning is all important to him and a little help from a good tailback and some run blocking would go a long way in making Jameis more consistent.
Look at Cam and his offensive line and mccaffery ,perfect example.
