Cairo Santos Makes Jason Licht’s Dreams Come True
November 25th, 2018A week ago, Bucs general manager Jason Licht hopped on the Buccaneers Radio Network and told the world Tampa Bay now had the kicker they wanted last year.
Licht talked about how Cairo Santos came in for a couple of 2017 visits but wasn’t quite healthy enough to sign. Now, Licht said, the Bucs had their man.
Upon hearing this, Joe was palpitating and screaming, “Then why didn’t you sign Santos three weeks ago when he was on the street and Chandler Catanzaro was costing the Bucs games!“
Oh, well.
Anyway, after being perfect on five extra points last week against the Giants, Santos perfectly drilled his first two Buccaneers field-goal attempts, from 41 and 39 yards today against the 49ers.
Man, he got cheers from the rather flimsy home crowd at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.
As Licht said last week about Santos, “It’s not like we’re just getting an unproven guy. … This guy was very good in Kansas City.”
Santos was released by the Rams on Oct. 16 after fill-in duty there. If the Bucs signed him sooner, would they be 5-6 instead of 4-7?

Cairo Santos is the savior

Santos is doing well. I feel confident when he kicks, not like our previous kickers. Go Bucs!

Like John McKay once said. “A couple plane crashes and we’re in the playoffs”

Yeah Licht is full of it. He would have signed him weeks ago if it was true. Anyway glad they have a kicker now that is making kicks. Good to have for the Post-Klueless era. Probably Post-Licht too. Clean house! Lets get some real leaders of men in here!!

Did anyone at the game notice today that whatever big screen Cairo was facing to kick the FG they turned the live feed off? Also, the stadium blew a big ship horn and defense chant on third downs!.. Never noticed that before.. I could see how that could be a distraction, those big HD screens displaying motion behind the uprights. Maybe that helps?!? Either way I’m glad we finally have a decent kicker! Good job by stadium crew and Go Bucs!

Hey hey. Jason Licht finally got one right!!! What’s that make him 1for7? 8?

This guy may just work out. Licht wanted him so badly that he threw 3 million guaranteed at Chandler Bing-Cantazaro? Very curious like nearly all of his free agent signees.

Very pleased with his play. PAT and FG have all been right down the middle too.

Every time Licht throws draft picks, money or a trade for a kicker he fails miserably. But when he signs the kickers he overlooks off the street they magically make kicks.

I called for them to sign him last year, he was great in KC and they only dumped him because he got hurt and they had to have a kicker and the guy they got has been excellent as well. Anywho now that he’s got a bunch of praise you know what’s coming… a missed kick, then everyone saying he’s a bust and must be cut RIGHT NOW.
