“It’s Going To Be All Man And Double Odell In The Red Zone”

It’s well documented that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ red zone defense is the worst in the NFL and downright shockingly bad.
Today, Joe presents a rare look into how opponents see it.
Joe really hesitated to watch this Mic’d up video below of Giants head coach Pat Shurmur against the Buccaneers last Sunday. Joe was almost afraid to hear about damning gems might be revealed via the Giants’ sideline chatter and the various fresh camera looks of the game.
Like a good student of Bucs knowledge, Joe forged ahead and watched.
And there was Eli Manning casually talking about the Bucs’ red zone defense and it’s predictability, “It’s going to be all man and Odell in the red zone.” Shurmur replies and agrees with Manning and says that’s why the Giants are just going to relax and run the ball there.
“It’s amazing how simple this stinking game can be,” Shurmur said to Manning in a later clip.

Sickened me to hear this too. From a team, coach and QB that were considered on the trash heap a game or two ago. Amazing how playing the Bucs has become the great elixir to cure all your ails. Hope this was mixed into the film study this week. Thought it wouldn’t matter much I guess.

Let me play devils advocate here for a second, I quite enjoy stirring the pot when it comes to monday morning qbs. We fired Mike Smith under the argument that his defense was too complicated with way to many pre-snap reads and adjustments, however we also drag his replacement to the slaughter because he simplified the defense so that it made the transition of the young secondary easier. Now I agree that Tampas defense is flaming garbage, but it seems to me they’re damned if you do damned if they dont. Which would then mean that coaching isn’t the whole problem. Personel in the game should be able to put in stellar showings in ONE of these two scenarios

The NFL blocked the content, but I can state that our coach is clueless. I finally jumped off the bandwagon. I wanted Koetter to succeed and thought giving him an extra year would finally get us in the playoffs. But the fact that he couldn’t cut the cord with the muscle hamster last year and Mike Smith this year until it was too late pushed me over the edge. That and some head scratching coaching in game decisions. Licht is like the candy man giving out big money to free agents that don’t give a crap about Tampa Bay. That and other distractions at one Buc Place that boggle the mind. Disfunctional ! Obviously the joke around NFL insiders. No hope; just pain !

love when he said don’t make it harder than it has to be… too many coaches overthink everything… like not giving the ball to Beast Mode on the 1 yard line in the Super Bowl and passing… Dirk does that type of stuff weekly for the last 3 years LOL

Where is the double team in # 93 in this photo? I do see a hand on #93 throat/facemask but no double team. Looks like he is getting washed right out of the play, again. Couldn’t watch the video?
Hey Joe, Why no article yet on Nassib he has came in and at least has made himself be felt by the other team. He shows up on game day.
