    Just win baby!!!

  2. macabee Says:

    Gentlemen, if you’re not going to the playoffs, you’re playing for the draft as the saying goes. I have been a Buc fan since their inception and have always wanted the Bucs to win. I still do! But I understand the few Buc fans that see an inevitable losing season and remember the last game at New Orleans that cost us the draft pick that would have gotten OG Quenton Nelson. As I watch the play of OG Caleb Benenoch each week, I’m reminded what could have been.

    I still can’t bring myself to say to my Bucs “go out there and lose a game”. Maybe I won’t have to say it. Lol. But when you watch the video below, you will know why some would have such thoughts. I always want the Bucs to win and there are too many games left to play to think about draft position now. But if we found ourselves in a situation like the final game of last year and there is a talent within reach like Nelson in the draft, it may be too hard to say never. Looking back never helps but this Nelson is a beast – sure could have used a guy like that pulling for the Bucs.

  3. DI Says:

    I chose “other”. Any other year I’d choose win. But this year is just so discouraging that I don’t know what I want from this team anymore. Apathy is the order of the day.

  4. WalkdaPlank Says:

    A win for the Bucs is a win for America!

    Go Bucs

  5. Bucanole Says:

    Other. Bucs get trapped in locker room due to door malfunction. Forfeit game.

    Then 3.5 hours of nothing but cheerleaders. Solid Sunday. Smiles for everyone.

    Or the space men in the ufos finally show up.

  6. Fire Light Says:

    Win! Famous Jameis Winning Winston!

  7. Fire Light Says:

    @macabbee you could also be wondering how Derwin James would be playing for the Bucs. Do u think Licht would’ve even picked that guy u mentioned? Lol Fireeeee Licht!

  8. Trench War Says:

    That’s the problem. The seems the culture around here every year is about losing and then the jockeying to be rewarded for being one of the worst. You don’t see the Patriots, for example, who seem to retool every single year and hardly ever be in the top half of the draft, but yet they always put together a ballclub that competes. I’m sorry say what you want, but this team has lost so much we think losing is more of a win/win situation, So sad. I want to win. I want to see how Jameis plays, Can Jameis strap the team on his back like some of the NFL leaders are doing, and play smart situational football. Turnovers happen but how they happen is what gets the average QB’s in trouble. If JW can do this folks will notice the effort. Our defense is ailing so every possession counts

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    People want a winning culture, then want to lose?

    Tampa fans disgust me.

    In my old age, I’ve learned a few things. First, no matter how the draft plays out, there will always be a lot of people disappoint with the picks.

    Second, no matter who we pick, the fans will never be patient enough for those picks to develop.

    And thirdly, unless you are picking a quarterback, there is no point in tanking to get a better pick, because top picks can be found at all levels and all rounds of the draft.

    The people who complain that we did not get Player A be cause we did not lose enough games are a part of the losing culture problem. They want that higher draft pick, but then they complain forever after about the losing record.

    I’m not innocent of this. In the past I have done the very same thing. I only came to the realization that I was part of the losing culture a couple years ago.

    I don’t see the Patriots tanking to get Brady’s replacement. They play to win no matter what. Losing is unacceptable, regardless of draft placement.

    Want that culture change? It starts with the fans.

  10. THETRUTH Says:

    Love the people who choose “lose” but will be on this site complaining about them playing bad, how crap they are the rest of the year and losing more games Sunday during live thread.

  11. Anonymous Says:

    In other news. Man, how bad are the Saints going to Pummle that 11-man circus we call a defense. Lets hope for rain. Thats the only thing that can slow down that Massacre in December.

  12. FortMyersDave Says:

    Back to the Saints game where Winston went off script and the Bucs won via the Godwin TD instead of watching Folk miss a 50+ yard field goal: If the Bucs did lose they would have picked 5th ahead of Denver and Indy. Sure they could have got OG extroidinaire Nelson or DE Bradley Chubb and either may have done well in Tampa but given this coaching and training staff we could be complaining right now about their lack of production. Another thing is thatthe Bills had a deal set with Denver for the number 5 and they could have offered that deal to Tampa as well and it could have been the same deal the Bucs got or perhaps both of Buffaloes first rounders, we will never know but I can guess that Licht would somehow end up with Vea and the rest of the busts regardless…. A bad GM will make a bad choice picking 3rd overall at 3 and 13 or 9th at 5 and 11 so tanking vs SF and the ATL to end the season seems a moot point, especially if Licht comes back.

  13. Fire Light Says:

    Play to win. Unless it’s Fitz starting over Jameis when Jameis is healthy and available. Then you root for a Fitz failure. First reason is to show the ignorant Fitz fans that Fitz Sucks. Second is to get gutless Koetter out of the door. Third is to hope Licht is forced to fire Koetter and then is fired by the Glazers! Fiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrreee Licht!

  14. Clarence Says:

    Currently 35% of respondents are losers. Why not tank any season where you aren’t looking like a super bowl contender by week 6?

    If you clicked tank for draft picks, you are a coward.

  15. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    Guess what Bonzai? We’ll never have a winning culture with Dirk Koetter as HC and Jason Licht at GM.

    I want us to lose out to ensure both of them get fired. As well as to give the new regime premium 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounders to work with.

  16. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    If you didn’t pick tank for a better draft pick, you’re delusional. 1 win against a garbage 49ers team does NOTHING!

    At least with a premium pick you at least have the chance of getting a game changer.

  17. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    I will never, EVER, turn on a BUCS game and settle in with a beer to say…
    “Alright man, Let’s LOSE today for a better draft pick!”

    Complete garbage, loser mentality, that we want to shed from this team, not encourage.

  18. Pete I Says:

    Play to win! But if the silver lining, in a loss, is one less day for this regime and Loser Bust Jameis winston is one day sooner to taking his 1st pick fail to another team, then some good will come from the loss. Not just a higher draft pick.

  19. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    (above)
    “If you didn’t pick tank for a better draft pick, you’re delusional.”

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Sorry, if it’s delusional to root for your team to win, than I will be delusional. What is the point of being a fan, otherwise?
  20. SchwiftyBuc Says:
    Ya’know all these “tanking is for the weak” people around here sure have bad memories.
    Do you know positively this franchise would have benefited from tanking the last game Last year? There’s a good chance that Koetter and Licht get canned. Dave Gettleman, a legit championship caliber Gm who was available and the guy I wanted us to replace Licht with last year, wouldn’t have wasted 4 picks in the top 60. You can bet your sweet rump on that.
    And not only that, HE WOULDN’T HAVE NEEDED TO! 2 INSTANT PLUG AND PLAY ALL PRO TALENTS WOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT THERE TO TAKE!
    Bradley Chubb or Quenton Nelson would have been GAME WRECKERS! Either one of them would have immediately changed the dynamic of their respective lines for the next 10 years. And we missed on them because we won a game that meant NOTHING!
    Guess you have to be driven by logic and critical thought instead of weak a$$ emotional virtue signaling to understand that if your season is already over, tanking is the only move that makes even a modicum of sense.
  21. SchwiftyBuc Says:
    Go on being delusional then, I’ll go on being right.
    Nick Bosa would help this team be a winner more than going 4-12 instead of 3-13 EVER would.
  22. SchwiftyBuc Says:
    Bradley Chubb has 9 sacks right now as a rookie. He would lead our team and have the most sacks for this franchise since Gerald McCoy got 9.5 sacks in 2013. The most in 5 years. 5 years.
    Quenton Nelson has completely transformed the Colts O-line, they have a legit running game going right now with Nelson leading the way for Ol’ Marlon Mack who showed nothing in his rookie year. Now he’s running on NFL defenses like he were playing for USF still. And Andrew Luck has only been sacked 10 times in 10 entire games of play. 1. Sack. Per. Game. All that success can be directly traced back the shear dominance Quenton Nelson is capable of asserting on any given down.
    But go on telling yourselves that we wouldn’t have been better off tanking that last game you magnificent fools.
  23. Fire Light Says:
    That game meant a lot to the rest of the NFL. It had playoff implications and seeding between the Panthers and Saints. Can’t be out there tanking and destroying the integrity of the game. You tankers annoy me. Jameis made a great veto not running Koetter’s play and won the game! It was exciting and a nice way to end the year! In Jameis I Trust. Can Koetter. Firrrreeeeee Licht!
  24. SchwiftyBuc Says:
    Why should me, a Bucs fan first, give a rats a$$ about the playoff implications for other teams when we were already eliminated weeks before hand.
    I WANT MY TEAM TO GET BETTER!
  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:
    I find it interesting the this question is even asked……talk about a losing culture…..
    And it’s not where you pick in the draft….It’s who you pick….that has been proven time and time again throughout NFL history.
    Perhaps the only exception has been the QB position and we had our shot at #!.
  26. SchwiftyBuc Says:
    Tbbf
    As I clearly just showcased, it very much can matter where you pick in the draft.
  27. Tampa Bay Demon Says:
    “Guess you have to be driven by logic and critical thought instead of weak a$$ emotional virtue”
    ~~~~~~

    So you feel the need to throw personal insults because some feel differently than you, in rooting for their team to win? — No one insulted you or your opinion.

    Say again?

  30. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    I’m always rooting for the best outcome of my team is what you don’t understand. If I know that the best outcome for the team is to lose a few meaningless games after the season is already essentially over, in order for them to acquire game-changing players at positions of need, then that’s what I’ll root for.

    To me hoping for us to win a meaningless game that ultimate hurts the franchise in the long run, just so you can feel warm and bubbly about your team winning that weekend, I think that’s weak sauce, selfish, and short-sighted.

  31. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    *Ultimately*

  32. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    ^^ Point made on that one. It would be nice to express opinions around here without people constantly resorting to that. — As I have said before, we are all Bucs fans… we all wear the same color…. we have more in common than we don’t.

  33. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    To clarify, I was referencing the “coward” quote.

  34. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    I understand the sentiment of wanting better draft picks, and some national hosts like Mike Florio actually say he can’t understand anything other than that.

    I am not saying everything is overly emotional “warm & bubbly’s”. I am just saying that for me, it is unnatural to sit down in my Bucs jersey, after a long week 55 hour week of a job that I can’t stand…. with finally a cold beer in my hand, and the team that I love….. and root for anything other than a Bucs 55-0 victory.

  35. TheNorm Says:

    Scwifty

    You’re totally RIGHT. Winning that last game last season got us VITA VEA!

    A totally wasted pick all for some stupid useless win that meant absolutely nothing except missing on a much better player. These fans are basing their decision on emotions and not logic. Who cares if you’re 5-11 or 3-13?

    Idiots.

  36. Kobe Faker Says:

    “Kobe guesses ATL going to lay down on the last game of the year

    ATL believes in better draft position and worthlessness of winning. The meaningless last game

    ATL will have all their best players out of the game

    …of course the Bucs going to treat the last game as the Superbowl

    Kobe Faker

  37. 911bucs Says:

    Win, I don’t have confidence the right draft pick will be selected or properly developing that pick.

  38. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    @911Bucs

    If Licht is still the GM and Koetter still the Coach then yeah none of it will matter.

    However, if this team goes 3-13, neither of them will be here.

  39. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

    The Bucs are losing, so is anyone sacred ? How about a Fire/Keep Jason Licht Poll Joe ?

  40. OneBucPerson Says:

    I want this team to stop being a doormat as much as the next person but sometimes you need to know when to hold them and when to fold them, it’s right now it’s folding time. Any win right now would hurt us, we know we’re not gonna make the playoffs and we’re not gonna have a winning record. Anything that increases the likelihood of a new regime and a top 10 draft pick is a good thing, all the better if Jameis performs well so we don’t have to waste a pick on a QB in the draft.

  41. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

    Lose, butthey will somehow screw that up ala the Saints game last year.

  42. Kobe Faker Says:

    “JW has to prove his performance? What did he do last 5 games last year?

    He played like top 3 QB for the last 5 games even though his shoulder wasnt 100%

    The national media doesnt want to point this out because of lazy journalism …..

    But didnt the Bucsheep watch those games? The Bucsheep that braindead and have low cheerleader football IQ. Its amazing how 1 article is written and creates all this nonesense that Sheep willingly and blindly follow

  43. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    I have a feeling that as that sentiment gets more and more prevalent amongst sports fans (and even worse, sports teams)…. that ultimately one day the NFL & NBA will just need to do away completely with basing draft position on the previous year’s performance… and literally just go with a damn lottery order for the whole thing.

    At least then, winning would be winning, and losing would be losing.

  44. “That guy” Says:

    I’m done, this is the dumbest poll ever. If you don’t have the desire to win then go stand on a street corner and panhandle.

  45. FortMyersDave Says:

    If Winston went against the Koetter game plan and then Folk MISSED the 50 yard field goal vs the Saints the Bucs would have been 4-12 and picking 5th instead of 7th. A lot of posters assume that either Bradley Chubb or Q Nelson would be great fits but they FORGET that the coaching staff here is way below average. Nelson could be a bust in Tampa while thriving in Indy and the trolls could be clammering for Vita Vea if he had 4 sacks in a 3-4 D while Chubb was injured and demoralized by a Mike Smith D….. ALSO; if the Bucs tanked vs the Saints and picked 5ht there is a chance the Bucs take whatever offer the Bills gave Denver (might be the same damn thing Licht took at 7th and bragged about, perhaps a bit more) but does anyone thing LICHT would have made a more intelligent choice at 5 than 7 ???????

    So I say no to tanking, though the Bucs could easily go 3-13 unless the niners and Falcons (a bad team too BTW, they would be 3-8 if they choked to the Bucs) tank more…… Disgusted with losing and tanking is worst. Might as well tell us Joe so we can go to Vegas and load up and at least earn some coin while this team becomes the Jet/Cleveland South!

  46. Curse of Gruden Says:

    Win now. A good draft pick would just be wasted anyway.

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    SchwiftyBuc Says
    Guess what Bonzai? We’ll never have a winning culture with Dirk Koetter as HC and Jason Licht at GM.

    I want us to lose out to ensure both of them get fired. As well as to give the new regime premium 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounders to work with.

    If you didn’t pick tank for a better draft pick, you’re delusional. 1 win against a garbage 49ers team does NOTHING!

    At least with a premium pick you at least have the chance of getting a game changer.

    First part:
    If you want the team to lose out to get rid of anyone, then you are part of the problem. You are putting your own desires ahead of the players on the team.

    You want the team to take the next step, and you think losing will achieve that? Doesn’t work that way, buddy.

    Second part:
    I used to feel the same exact way about the draft picks, until I realized that teams were getting premium players in all levels of the draft. Outside of Quarterback, which the best always seem to be near the top except for hard to find exceptions, all others vary in draft position.

    Sure, you can point at a highly drafted player who is does extremely well, but odds are in that same draft there was someone at the same position taken much later who does extremely well too.

    Even with the Quarterback, there are no guarantees if you get the first pick. Or second pick. He can still be a bust.

    Take the Robert Aguayo pick. A second round pick was considered too early. In hind sight, picking him at all was considered a big mistake.

    But what if he had solved our kicking issues and was a premium kicker for the next 12-15 years? Would it then matter that he was taken in the second round?

    No. Especially given our current kicking issues.

    It was a high risk, high reward pick, and the risk part outweighed the reward part in the end. But if it had not, Licht would have been a genius.

    Take Ali Marpet, who Licht took in the second round. Most were taken aback by the pick (he was on my wishlist though). Those who looked into him said he could have been had later. But could he have? How do we know another team would not have targeted him before our next pick?

    Marpet is a first round talent who was considered a third or forth round talent by the draft rankings, but we got him in the second.

    Draft rankings and draft positioning matter little outside of the QBs.

  48. Sumo Says:

    If you are playing any sport to lose, you are a loser. This idea you should tank for draft picks is all wrong. Please people, figure it out.

  49. tickrdr Says:

    Yet, all of the Jameis sycophants were elated that the Bucs tanked the last game before that draft, ensuring the #1 pick. I still think that part of the reason that Koetter doesn’t fully trust Jameis is because he changed the play last year, and perhaps did change our draft position against his wishes.

    tickrdr

    BTW: Many claim that Jameis’ last five games of 2017 were the best of his career, however he had TEN turnovers (5 INTs and 5 Fumbles lost of seven) during those five games. SMH.

  50. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    Bonzai, you’re just wrong. Flat out wrong. How am I part of the problem because I knew after last year that Koetter and Licht are not the answer and that we’d have been better off tanking the season and moving on.

    I can go back and find the evidence for you. But I was adamant on here posting that we needed to replace Licht with Dave Gettleman, and that we should write Jim Harbough a blank check to leave Michigan. Because Koetter and Licht will never, ever, ever, build a winner here.

    I was confident in their future after 2016, but its clear now that was just a fluke. Koetter said it straight up, 2017’s roster was better than 2016’s, although not as good as it could have been due to several bad signings (Chris Baker, Desean Jackson, Nick Folk, JJ Wilcox, TJ Ward) and several equally bad nonsignings (Calais Campbell, AJ Bouye, Robert Woods, Dontari Poe), yet Koetter proceeded to coach worse than he ever has here and go 5-11.

    After that I knew we should have moved on. How does that make me the problem? Because I was right?

  51. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    Tickdr

    That was without question the right move. If Jason Licht didn’t wast premium round draft picks in 2016, 2017, and 2018, as well as wasting millions of dollars on rotten egg free agents, the Bucs could be a playoff team right now in the best division in football.

  52. Mike Johnson Says:

    To be honest..at this point? Anything which moves us up in the draft…I’m all In baby! 3-7 says you’re likely to finish with maybeee 6 wins at the most…If that.

  53. nwbucsfan Says:

    this is sickening… I’m ashamed to be a fan looking at this. get the win.. always

  54. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    ^^ @nwbucsfan — ALWAYS.

  55. tickrdr Says:

    @SchwiftyBuc:

    In typical Bucs’ fashion, they made the wrong move both times. They tanked to get the #1 pick overall, and then picked Winston, rather than trade down. Then, last year, Winston makes a perfect throw, resulting in dropping a few places in the draft as you pointed out.
    I don’t think anyone should want to tank for several games, but for one half or at most one play, ………………. it would be tempting.

    tickrdr

  56. Brandon Short Says:

    This season is lost. The worst thing that could happen is for the team to get semi-hot, go on a tear, allow Koettee to keep his job, and knock the team further down the draft board. The winning culture doesn’t come from winning games when they don’t coing. Its going to come when we bring in a coach that knows and does everything possible to win all games.

  57. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    Tickdr

    Taking Winston was the right thing to do.

    He’ll be a top 10 QB every year in the system of an offensive genius.

    And he could easily compete for a title yearly with a good defense, a good oline, and better than average running game.

  58. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    ^^ Now on THAT, Schwifty…. we definitely agree.

  59. ronteco Says:

    I honestly don’t care what happens. The Giants game was the first game I haven’t watched in a while. And I had a great day Sunday. I haven’t visited this site in a while. And I don’t miss it one bit. Until the Glazers are gone, I can careless about this team. Off to hockey season.
