Caleb Benenoch Must Improve
November 15th, 2018The wolves are out for the Bucs’ starting right guard.
The third-year offensive linemen from UCLA has shown an ability to run block. But in a passing league, a lineman better be able to pass block. And so far through nine games, Caleb Benenoch has not shown any improvement from last year in pass blocking.
Barstool Sports radio producer Steven Cheah, a huge Bucs fan, compiles weekly clips from All-22 film highlighting the Bucs. In a clip below, Cheah shows how much Benenoch must work on his pass blocking if he wants to remain with the Bucs or in the NFL.
Benenoch looks totally lost on this pass play, which unfortunately turned into the famous illegal forward pass to Adam Humphries.
Yeah, Joe admits it’s unfair to single out a guy on one play in a game. But Cheah has more than a couple of clips that show Benenoch isn’t showing much improvement in pass blocking since taking over for J.R. Sweezy as the full-time starter.
As far as Fitz, is there a more Fitzmagic play than this? Play breaks down, avoids multiple rushers (nice job Caleb Benenoch, ugh), finds some open real estate and kicks it to a streaking receiver. Unfortunately it was ruled forward, but wow! That’s Fitzmagic! #Bucsfilm2018wk10 pic.twitter.com/kbTFIsqF9R

That was painful

Literally turning around in circles like a lost pup
November 15th, 2018 at 12:23 am
WOW that is some BAD film… and like you said Joe it’s not like it’s an outlier result here… he frequently is getting turned around and looks only slightly better than Isaiah Johnson running clear into the stadium wall.
Wish we could have kept Pamphile at LG and Marpet at RG again like he killed it there before being forced to center and now LG…
Does anyone else feel like the offensive line coach is doing a terrible job?? Sure seems like a lot of paper talent on our line with sub-optimal results.
November 15th, 2018 at 12:31 am
Why are looking at this play though? There was literally nothing for him to do here. Looking out the formation and how the only guy near him stunted across the entire line. It’s Jensen who gets wrecked here, not benenoch

>Must Improve
Try must be cut 8 weeks ago.
November 15th, 2018 at 12:51 am
Who is worse?? Him or the coach or gm that keep putting him out there every week?
November 15th, 2018 at 1:19 am
I’m with Pepsi, watching this play it isn’t Benenoch that gets beat, it’s the ginger. Yeah he looks dumb just standing there, but offensive lineman generally protect an area, it’s not man to man blocking on stunts. Perhaps I’m wrong, if there’s an o-line coach here to explain what he was supposed to do feel free to let me know.

Buc believer – Evan Smith is actually worse and Cappa in preseason didn’t even look remotely like he belongs in the NFL. I think Benenoch is actually the best guy they have right now – which again makes me ask why they let Kevin Pamphile go when he was a young guy who had actually improved, greatly, and wasn’t even that expensive to keep – and he played guard or tackle.

Pepsi gets it. It must fit the narrative.
November 15th, 2018 at 1:26 am
Let’s give his coach some credit too.
November 15th, 2018 at 2:35 am
He does that in every game. Doesn’t block anyone and stands around confused wondering what to do.

Warhop is a horrible coach.
We have sucked since Mankins left town.
Make Mankins the highest paid o-line coach in the NFL next year.

Pepsi is spot on.
What’s wrong with the rest of you guys? Seriously?
I realize the optics are terrible, but they only rushed 4, and who was Benenoch supposed to block? WHO? Watch the video and tell me.
November 15th, 2018 at 6:32 am
Ryan Jensen’s missed block is what blew up the play
November 15th, 2018 at 6:35 am
I agree this clip doesn’t show any wrong doing on his part. Too bad they didn’t show clips of the other 60 snaps. Regardless, this guy is trash and is bringing down the line. If you haven’t observed this, well you really don’t know what you’re looking at.

Kobe- Amazing isn’t it?! Yet, we keep trotting out this bum!

Our RG was gifted a job….he wont start anywhere else. Smith the same, had he earned the right to start vs being gifted the job, he might actually have hit his potential. Jensen seems grossly overrated but probably producing in the level of Smith. Dotson is playing how he always has mostly good with an occasional miss.
Marpet is solid and deserved a raise. Frankly this team, particularly Licht has created such a revolving door on the o-line that its impossible to create chemistry. By year 5 your line should be set with maybe one guy to replace. We’ve changed centers, RG, moved Marpet all over the place….Its like Licht tries to be to cute and just makes things worse.

The ability to RUN BLOCK? LMAO! Don’t tell Peyton Barber, that. That is the funniest thing I have heard since this season started.
Poof, It is done!

LOL!

This whole team problems start with the head coach and GM who keep putting players out there regardless of position who can’t do their job and let players such as McDougal, Swearinger, Foster and Sweezy star on other teams because we don’t know how to evaluate talent. Clean house and get someone in there who knows personnel especially on scouting college players.
November 15th, 2018 at 8:14 am
This teams problems start at the top with GM and coach. Don’t know how to evaluate talent in college and in the pros. Keep putting players out there who can’t do the job and let players like McDougal, Swearinger, Sweezy and Foster leave and play great with other teams. Blow this team up and get someone in here who knows how to run a football team and make personnel decisions to help the team instead of hurting us.

The ‘Entire’ team needs to improve!

Let’s see what Cappa brings.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:56 am
God that guy is awful.
November 15th, 2018 at 2:47 pm
The guy did his job, exactly.
What is he supposed to do, chase the stunting DT and tackle him from behind?
Do you want him to run downfield, on a passing play, and block a LB?
He did his job exactly right. Grade A!
