Jameis The Cheerleader
November 14th, 2018These are dark days for America.
While a lot of benched franchise quarterbacks would pout, kvetch if not b!tch about not playing, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, is not doing any of the aforementioned acts.
Instead, Jameis is very much locked into what his team is doing. Take a look below.
Steven Cheah, a producer for Barstool Sports, highlights selected clips of every Bucs game on Twitter. In the play below, journeyman backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick makes a nice play to keep a drive alive, but as Cheah points out, look at Jameis along the sidelines near where the play ends.
Jameis isn’t sitting on the bench feeling sorry for himself, that much is for sure.
This play may be more Fitzmagic than the other – he shovels it ahead & throws the block! But take a look at the end of this clip. You can say a lot of things about @Jaboowins, but a bad teammate isn’t one of them. He’s hyped on the sideline cheering on his guys! #Bucsfilm2018wk10 pic.twitter.com/czj6X5MmKY
— Steven Cheah (@CHEAH_SAY) November 14, 2018
So while Bucs Bit-O-Honey-snacking, Ozark-watching coach Dirk Koetter may not want anything more to do with Jameis, that doesn’t mean Jameis has checked out.
Hardly.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:06 am
Jameis is the Anti Djax.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:13 am
Joe, you are in a very sad and bad place aren’t you?
November 14th, 2018 at 5:17 am
Winston is the only “franchise” QB in America capable of throwing an Interception while being a cheerleader on the sideline.
He was benched!
November 14th, 2018 at 5:20 am
“While a lot of benched franchise quarterbacks would pout…”
Well it’s good Winston isn’t a franchise QB, thus why he isn’t doing those things huh Joe ?
Let me think how many franchise QB’S have actually been benched….
Give me a minute….
Still thinking….
Gosh….
November 14th, 2018 at 5:34 am
IF aww get a lot of so called “fans” wish and part ways with Jameis the future hall of gamer and future multi Super Bowl winner Buc nation will be forever sorry. Ask Steve Young Doug Williams Trent Dilfer and I could go on. What a bunch of idiots some of you people are!
November 14th, 2018 at 5:34 am
Jameis has the heart of a lion. No question there
November 14th, 2018 at 5:38 am
Love it!
The Joe’s have written numerous times about the value they place on their Team press passes. First, it’s great to have press access. However, Joe built the site without it and it would continue, and very likely be more entertaining, without it.–Joe
and there’s been more than a few digs directed towards another site for not having a journalism degreed owner. Joe knows of no-such “digs.” A degree is nice but ultimately is just a piece of paper. –Joe
Which means that the Joe’s consider themselves professional members of the press and qualified journalists. If this is true, why don’t you guys act like reporter’s and get to the bottom of why JW is not playing. First, to get to “the bottom” of something, you need to be able to believe what you’re told. And it this point, Joe really would question the credibility of anyone’s commentary about the state of affairs at One Buc Palace. You want rumors? Joe could give you plenty of rumors but Joe does not peddle in those. Second, Jameis is playing. He’s the gameday backup, which means he will be counted on if Fitz hurts himself in pregame warmup, for example. Whatever is at the core of Jameis sitting, he is being counted on so it really hasn’t reached a level of a Watergate investigation as you suggest. –Joe
There’s something else going on and it appears that digging to find out what’s not being reported is not a priority. Is the organization that tight lipped as to be able to contain everything inhouse. Is it possible to prevent leaks at a level that the government of this nation can only dream of. Or is it possible no one in the press is looking.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:45 am
Bucs believer,
So what your saying is, if a QB played here and was cut , He’s guaranteed to win a superbowl with another team. Huh…..you’d think QB’S would be lining up at the GM s doorstep.
signed,
JF
November 14th, 2018 at 5:46 am
None of those former Buc QB’S were multi Super Bowl winners. Good luck to Winston when he leaves and wherever he goes.
But also Good luck to the fans and franchise he goes to. They will likely need it.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:49 am
Too bad Jameis’s decision making skills, on and off the field, aren’t as good as his cheerleading skills.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:53 am
@Pete…. your showing your football knowledge there sir…. Steve Young won THREE Super Bowls. You must be part of the “new math” being taught to the young skulls full of mush now. (I don’t expect you to get that reference)
November 14th, 2018 at 6:03 am
Bucs believer,
If winston gets a superbowl ring and multiple MVP awards as you guarantee with another team ….so fing what. The young dilifer Williams winning a Sb means absolutely dic.. Because they won for another team. Wooofu…king..hoooo……I really celebrated when the Ravens won.
If the team is winning players tend to stay. Losing w young and dilifer was what happened, if they had stayed it doesn’t mean the bucs would have won.
Let’s put winning all on winston, which is exactly opposite what you do now, because he can win a superbowl by himself……ok what’s the holdup. ..start please
November 14th, 2018 at 6:23 am
Jameis is by far best QB Bucs have ever had an I hope the glazers are telling Dirk he is not aloud to f up Jameis anymore Dirk Licht an Fitz can all go after this season time for a real new fresh start oh btw take djax with y’all yo
November 14th, 2018 at 6:30 am
Noted, he is a team guy, I really want Jameis to succeed here, one reason is to have a winning team, secondly to hush the haters, but the problem has been he has been a team player, for both the Bucs and their opponents
November 14th, 2018 at 6:32 am
America’s 21 million dollar cheerleader.
Difficult times for the Joes.
November 14th, 2018 at 6:36 am
Jameis may be struggling with inconsistency as most young QBs usually do but as someone posted earlier he has never lacked heart…
He’s always been hard worker and a good teammate…The one and only off the field incident he’s had since being in Tampa (the Uber incident) has his haters in full torch and pitchfork mode wanting him run out of town…I personally still believe he can be elite, it just won’t be here in Tampa Bay…This franchise/fan base eats young QB’s for breakfast…
This franchise will be a bottom feeder/dumpster fire until we fix the real problem plaguing this franchise and it starts at the top… Honestly, I don’t understand why Winston even cares; although he’s repeatedly expressed his love for his teammates and this franchise the truth is half of the fan base didn’t want him and has been nitpicking him to death since he got here…
Sadly in my case I’ve been a fan for almost 30 and I must admit I’m mentally drained with this team; being a Buccaneers fan is the definition of Insanity…we don’t develop our players here…we run them off prematurely only to watch from afar as they reach their potential somewhere else…
Run Jameis, and don’t look back…
November 14th, 2018 at 6:44 am
Steve Young only played in and won one superbowl. He was on the bench for the others. The place Winston will be should his team ever make it.
November 14th, 2018 at 6:46 am
Start Jamies so we can get rid of him for draft picks
November 14th, 2018 at 6:55 am
So Pete please tell is do you enjoy losing or are you really a fan of another team? It has to be one of those two to wish for The Bucs, my team, to have a failure as the number one overall pick. You are really sad bro.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:00 am
The way this oline is playing (ahem, Benenoch!), Jameis might be coming off the bench sooner than later.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:02 am
@Pete… a win is a win my friend! Try taking Rob Johnson’s super bowl ring from him even though he didn’t play… just saying. Believe me not trying to have an argument with a fellow Buc fan. We ALL want what’s best for this team and to FINALLY win!!!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:05 am
Been a Bucs fan since the beginning. Losing is part and parcel. Thise late 90’s fans are the problem.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:09 am
I don’t believe we can win with Winston and need to stop wasting time with him.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:18 am
I would add Donovan Smith and Jenson to the bad O lineman list. Penalties,
giving up sacks, and a terrible hike are just a few of the costly errors that contributed to our offensive breakdown in addition to the QB play.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:22 am
So Pete it doesn’t have anything to do with this moronic coach?
November 14th, 2018 at 7:23 am
When Saban gets here and builds a defense and a run game I hope jameis is part of his big picture and can make jameis a game manager in the transition because this entire team is 2-4 years away after saban gets here from being a playoff team because it has 6-10 talent right now….
November 14th, 2018 at 7:27 am
@OneBuc55. Great Point, You are spot on! I wonder if Jameis, wants to come back to Tampa? Why would He? Will they see other FA come here now, after they seen, what could happen to them, once they get here?
November 14th, 2018 at 7:45 am
Nope, the moronic coach is a major problem, but so is America’s turnover machine. As is Fitz, assistant coaches, owners and many if not most of the players…oh yes and the owners. They deserve double mention.
Lost of problems. But Jameis is a big one and one we are wasting time on better spent elsewhere.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:52 am
Why is Ryan Griffin still on the roster? Does he have nudes of Licht and Koetters wife’s? Glazers? This guy has it made and doesn’t have to play!!
November 14th, 2018 at 7:59 am
Let me add to the so called rumor mill. Was able to talk with some ex Redskins in town for last weeks game. Even though they sugar coated the crap out of every word the message was clear. Most had the opinion that Winston lacked the mental part of playing QB in the NFL. They brought up mistakes that can not be made by a four year starter and continue to be made. Also included the fact that plays called by the coaches are not being run at all or being changed to poor alternatives.
November 14th, 2018 at 8:02 am
So Pete, what exactly is the problem with the as you phrase it “Late 90’s Fans” ? Being a fan myself for well over 40 years and suffering mightily most seasons along the way , I feel that any fan who perseveres through this mess should be applauded. JW is riding the pine , so Bucs are not wasting anything on him at all now are they? Bring back Tony Dungy as President of Football Operations (that is if he would have them).
November 14th, 2018 at 8:12 am
D1 agree wholheartedly with the info as you were stating it, just because several players left here and won superbowls elsewhere doesnt mean anything. Dilfer was terrible here and terrible in Bmore, Doug Williams was awesome here and was a backup in DC but got his shot and won the MVP. Jameis is average here and will probably be average at his next stop, he has been the same since FSU, he had one good season there….he made the same dumb mistakes at FSU that he is still making here, I remember the oregon game where he lost the ball and gave up a td to the ducks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOs7HQgDI5E
November 14th, 2018 at 8:20 am
@D1
As you may have noticed ,there is another well thought out analysis of Koetter and our 5 Red Zone Trips on Pewter Report in their cover three 3 article. Also agree with his premise that Koetter knows his fate and has decided to do things his way.
IMO, Koetter mat be reacting to some decisions by Jameis. In the Cleveland
game he wasn’t happy that Jameis changed the play and took a sack that
caused a 59 yard field goal attempt to win. A run would have been the logical choice to shorten field or get better position for the kick.
November 14th, 2018 at 8:30 am
Ok, so Bucnjim we can all see right through your bs. Supposedly talking to the Redskins players but couldn’t name which ones. It’s sad that people like you can make up things like that and all those Dumba** Fitz nuthuggerz would be stupid enough to believe you. Wtf loser
November 14th, 2018 at 8:37 am
Another time that Koetter made a point of saying that Jameis changed the play was the play to Godwin to in the last game of 2017. Whether the coaching staff actually wanted to win the game is anybody’s guess. But that win prevented us from getting Quentin Nelson in the 2018 draft a player that could have made a
huge difference to this team.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:18 am
I’m going to start by saying that I wished the Bucs hadn’t drafted Jameis. I was one of the trade down guys. With that said, the more I see of Dirk, the more I’m convinced that a new coach should look at Winston under center next year. He shouldn’t be anointed the starter by any means, but I really think Dirk has failed him. That doesn’t mean that Winston won’t ultimately be a bust. It just means that I think Koetter is a complete idiot who I don’t trust at all when it comes to talent evaluation and development.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:34 am
Franchise QB’s dont typically get suspended for off the field crap either. Franchise QB’s arent typically throwing horrendous passes on horrendous decisions to the defense.
Franchise QB’s dont typically come off the sideline to poke opposing players in the back of the head to provoke a bench clearing fight.
Franchise QB’s dont stand in front of their teammates and do some disturbing “eat a W” speech that leaves everyone else speechless.
Franchise QB’s dont get benched in their 4th year for a 36 year old journeyman.
Maybe, just maybe, we dont have a franchise QB on our hands here. Maybe we have another in a long list of guys that won the Heisman in college against lester talent that didn’t elevate when they came to the Pro’s and had to pick their game up.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:45 am
Posted on a different topic but relevant here I think:
We have got to stop being afraid of losing players. We have seen this guy play for 4 years now, what do you think we’re going to uncover that we haven’t seen already? We have a 35+ back-up playing just as “good” (used extremely loosely!) right now. Is he the answer? If you say ‘no’ it applies equally. ANYONE can be replaced. There are rookies and 2nd year players ballin’ right now. So….
4 years in the SAME offense! Shouldn’t the improvements be significant? What are we waiting for? Why? 4 years isn’t enough?
I’m just saying, MAYBE he’s not the guy.
November 14th, 2018 at 9:53 am
Late 90’s fans didn’t live through the 80’s or the 70’s with this team but jumped aboard in the late 90’s. So there it is 1976. Many of them think winning is the Bucs way, not so, only about 6 consistent years. And a few scattered moments.
I miss the 80’s, but the Bucs are doing all they can for me to think its still the 80’s at the old Sombrero but filling my gas tank yanked me back to now.
Same old Bucs.
Winston still sucks.
November 14th, 2018 at 10:44 am
Pete I, why are so convinced that Winston is worthless? The turnovers or lack of wins? I’m curious as you have been a fan since the beginning, but are 100% ready to start over at QB (another 3-5 years of being last or dead last). Do you think Goff and Mahomes are franchise QBs? Is that all on them or has coaching and scheme helped them? Goff was considered trash before McVay and Mahomes wasn’t even a lock to go in the 1st round. Has Winston under performed, yes absolutely. Has he been put in the best position to full maximized (scheme, running game, etc?) I feel Koetter is a very good OC, but like many older coaches they don’t seem to evolve or adapt to their players (Gruden OAK). The game today needs to be built around your players and your offense evolve from there, not “It’s my offense and we will run it like this” How many 5-7 step drops? and if deep ball accuracy is a weakness WHY KEEP THROWING IT DEEP???? playaction pass (no run game) Its asinine to think any QB could have success playing like this, not to mention being down 21-28 points every game. Koetter hasn’t changed his offense up, still thinks a big play here and there is the answer, gives up running the ball, why not have to long drives to keep the horror show off the field? Nope wants to score on big plays “take the top off”, what a joke, players need to be put in the best position to be successful and that juts hasn’t happened at all.
In closing no-one is more disappointing in JW than myself, but we should look at it from all angles (good and bad) and really ask if the organization has done all it can to fully maximize him and any other player on the team? If you think we have and he’s a bust, he’s trash and so on and so forth, that’s your opinion, I just don’t anyone can truly lay all the blame on one player and can truly say, he was put in a best spot, built a playbook around strengths, supported with Oline and running game and he just doesn’t have it. We have seen Dak with the cowboys without his full line and anyone to throw to and it’s night and day, can anyone argue that? difference is and I can’t believe I’m typing this, he is backed by the owner a because he knows you have to be 100% right when you make the call to pull the pin, Bucs shouldn’t be there with Winston.
November 14th, 2018 at 11:44 am
the Winston hate is unreal……
November 14th, 2018 at 12:16 pm
So we franchised the back up…..
November 14th, 2018 at 12:27 pm
Kansas95Buc……….it’s sickening and how could ANY TRUE FAN BE HAPPY with Winston’s struggles? Almost a HA HA told you so thing, shake my head…
November 14th, 2018 at 1:00 pm
Buc believer Says:
November 14th, 2018 at 5:34 am
IF aww get a lot of so called “fans” wish and part ways with Jameis the future hall of gamer and future multi Super Bowl winner Buc nation will be forever sorry. Ask Steve Young Doug Williams Trent Dilfer and I could go on. What a bunch of idiots some of you people are!
No go on…LOL. Because that’s it. Two guys in the 80’s.
THIS IS SUCH A FALSE NARRATIVE.
Stop Winston knob slobberers…you look silly.
November 14th, 2018 at 1:23 pm
Jameis definitely looked like a franchise QB his first 2 seasons. Seems like crappy coaching, no running game and a predictable offense doomed him. If the glazers are smart they’ll give him another shot with a new coaching staff.
November 14th, 2018 at 2:18 pm
@Saskbuco
If by struggles you mean no run game, virtually no defense, no scheme that matches his strength as a player, then yes us fans who actually pay attention to the team is sick of the struggle. this is an article about a guy cheering for the career back up and yall still mad lol
November 14th, 2018 at 3:01 pm
Any intelligent Bucs fan knows Winston is a grinder and gives 110% all the time. Immature yes. Bad teammate and lazy No! Immaturity giving way to maturity is far easier than lazy to grinder. Winston will be the next Tiger Woods comeback and Americans love comebacks!
November 14th, 2018 at 3:28 pm
Winston.. true Bucs fans still have your back.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:21 pm
Play Famous Jameis. Point Blank. Fans are brutal at times, including myself. Fitzpatrick has started 2 games in a row with early interceptions while the best QB on the team is on the bench. Makes a lot of sense. Lots! Since Joe won’t drop the rumours, I will. The Glazers don’t know how to fire a coach in the middle of a dead season and pay a new one. Koetter and Jameis legitimately do not like each other and it’s more on Koetter than it is Jameis. DJax is one big hit away from having his career ended and will not return punts unless he wants to. Also, DJax isn’t happy at all and seriously wants out. Koetter and Licht have no luck and are on the hottest seats in the NFL.
November 14th, 2018 at 7:31 pm
…….the FACT? …no-one should ever lose sight of, is that this season was torpedoed by Jameis. He better play cheerleader. Start acting entitled after all this drama he caused and the hate will be relentless. He let a lot of fans down.
November 15th, 2018 at 1:38 am
@Kansas95Buc, couldn’t agree more, read my above post to Pete I
