Apparent Setback For Vinny Curry
November 8th, 2018Disturbing news on the Buccaneers’ injury report today.
A key member of the defense with the seventh-lowest sack total in the NFL seems to be ailing after his return to the lineup.
Defensive end Vinny Curry was back in the starting lineup Sunday against the Panthers after sitting out two games with an ankle injury. It was his first missed game(s) since 2013, and Curry told Joe he was pleased he could get back in just three weeks.
Well, Curry missed his second consecutive day of practice today with what officially is listed as an ankle injury. It’s a bad sign. Typically, if a veteran player is getting a healing day off (Wednesday), then he’ll be back “limited” on Thursday and then “full participation” on Friday.
Joe’s hoping Curry can suit up Sunday, but Joe wouldn’t bet on it. Rookies M.J. Stewart (foot) and Ronald Jones (hamstring) did not practice this week or last.
A list of Bucs have been “limited” this week, which is common in midseason. Gerald McCoy (calf) is no longer on the injury list. So Joe expects a strong game from McCoy on Sunday, given the Redskins makeshift offensive line.

Who?
Oh right, the guy the Eagles didn’t want.
November 8th, 2018 at 6:18 pm
Does it really matter? Free agent acquisition that’s done absolutely nothing to make this team better… If Licht is still here i’m sure he’ll rate this year Super Bowl team of players that they don’t want anymore!
November 8th, 2018 at 6:20 pm
Oh no guys! We’re going to really miss those 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks over six game production. Which is pretty much in line with his career sack-wise.
Good thing Jason Licht locked Curry up with that 3 year 27 million dollar contract though. So if Curry misses more time this year we can just bank on his 3 sacks next year instead. 9 million is a small price to pay for production like that.
November 8th, 2018 at 6:28 pm
Tom S. – In fairness Licht really gave him a 1-year deal as the Bucs can dump him with no cap hit next year – so it was really a 1-year $6.5m deal.
November 8th, 2018 at 6:32 pm
Hate to say it but since there is a real chance GMac get dumped in the offseason I think Curry’s name needs to be added to that list, dude has been a ghost this season.
November 8th, 2018 at 6:34 pm
Lol who?? Who is this guy???
November 8th, 2018 at 6:45 pm
Before we start to blame the Curry’s and the Baker’s and the Grimes’, let’s make ourselves aware of the reality. And this is key to our ongoing sanity. Players who are free agents, who choose to come here, are not coming here to win a championship. They are coming here, for the most part, as number two’s, to get paid like number one’s. So they also tend to be guys who come on Sundays to cash a check, not to fight for excellence. That needs to be remembered when the free agency class comes free next year. Players coming here are always going to have a tendency to be check cashers. Look back at the track record. Nobody comes her via free agency to win a ring. To impact that kind of a culture change starts way above Dirk Koetter’s head.

Haha. You know you are a hardened fan when you recognize the real injuries and the other injuries.
November 8th, 2018 at 7:16 pm
Vinny Curry is a “key member of the defense”? I didn’t know that. #PaidFloridaVacation
November 8th, 2018 at 7:21 pm
Who cares. We got Nassib.
November 8th, 2018 at 7:23 pm
Sorry, but this is good, Nassib, should be starting anyway!!! Bucs4life!!!!
November 8th, 2018 at 7:39 pm
Tampa fans
Vinny has been pretty good. I would not call him a bad signing at all.
November 8th, 2018 at 7:42 pm
Yep without Vinny we would probably be the worst defense in the history of the NFL…
November 8th, 2018 at 8:02 pm
With all the missed tackles and non-stat lines, how can these CHUMPS be hurt all the time?
November 8th, 2018 at 8:06 pm
$406,250 big ones a week is what this Cat is stealing from team Glazer. $6.5 million a year! She~it Come on man really? Add up what the rest of the clowns on Dline is making Not a bad signing some have said, tell us what’s good about what he’s done to make it a good signing
November 8th, 2018 at 8:14 pm
$1.015 million a year player who’s producing well and who has beat the hell out of the Bucs in the past! Ok he’s a running back and not on the dline but which one would you rather have? Adrian Peterson or Vinny Curry
November 8th, 2018 at 8:17 pm
Some “Real” football on tonight
November 8th, 2018 at 8:21 pm
I’m puzzled why we are having so many injuries on the Defensive side and virtually none with the Offense…..we haven’t lost anyone except Rojo and that appears temporary…..
November 8th, 2018 at 8:24 pm
Ah, truck! At this point WHO CARES!? BLOW IT UP!!
November 8th, 2018 at 9:01 pm
Where’s the podcast?

November 8th, 2018 at 9:25 pm
Nbd, curry has contributed zilch since getting here. That being the case, I’d rather see more of 57

Carolina getting curb stomped!
November 8th, 2018 at 10:39 pm
Carolina let the Bucs win get to their head! A Thursday game on the road leads to a 45-14 beat down after 3 quarters. Kind of bodes bad for the Bucs in a way as it signifies that Carolina may not be a playoff level team but simply one that might be 9-7 talent; you know the type of team that Licht and Koetter led everyone believe the Bucs could have.
Anyhow, figures Curry would get hurt right before a winnable game but hopefully Nassib can come up big against the Redskin third string OL. Kind of sad when one of your standouts on D is a flush em down Brown castoff…….
November 8th, 2018 at 10:43 pm
Big Ben 22-25, 88%, 5TDs and almost 350 yards vs a D the Bucs had issues moving the ball against. Carolina getting smashed…….
November 8th, 2018 at 10:55 pm
Yeah and these ” Idiot” analysts were calling for Mike Tomlin job
4 games into the season
Now they have won 5 straight games
Why was these idiots calling for the man job in the first place?
Especially after 4 games
The man has won over 66% of his games
Including a Super Bowl
122-62-1 career record
But these dummies want him fired because he was 1-2-1
These “Pathetic” people shouldn’t be allowed to speak
Or write!

We are talking about Eric Curry, right? Oh. We aren’t? — Sorry some of you younger fans won’t get the reference. Some of you longer term fans will though, won’t you?

Eric Curry another one of the Yucs wasted 1st round pick
November 8th, 2018 at 11:55 pm
Thank you, LakeLand. I knew you would remember. Ohh from the days when Ervin Randle was a fixture on our club, but we couldnt make room for his brother, John. — yes, John Randle. —- sigh, yes. Our beloved Bucs.
November 9th, 2018 at 12:32 am
I said last year after the Pittsburgh playoff loss that the Bucs should have acted very quickly and tried to trade for Tomlin, take advantage of the Steelers being in a depression and see if you could get them to make a rash move. Maybe do a package deal with Tomlin and Bell – maybe a 1st and 2nd gets it done. Who would you rather have, Tomlin and Bell, or Rojo and Vita?
Now I don’t know Pittsburgh would have taken the deal, but who knows, they were really throwing a fit after losing that home playoff game – but in any case you know that the Bucs did absoutely nothing because Dirk is the their man.
… anywho what’s the draft look like next year?
November 9th, 2018 at 12:39 am
Tampa Bay Demon
Ervin Randle got John Randle a tryout with the Bucs
His 1st NFL tryout was with the Bucs
The Bucs wanted to sign him as a LB, they said he ws too small for a DT
He told them that he was a DT and he wasn’t changing positions
So he went to Minnesota for his next tryout
And they signed him as a DT

From the Eric Curry era of Buc busts:
1990 :Keith McCants #4 overall right after Cortez Kennedy and before Junior Seau.
1991: Charles McRae #7 overall.
1993: Curry #6 overall. right before Jerome Bettis and Lincoln Kennedy.
1989: Broderick Thomas # 6 overall right after Deion Sanders, Barry Sanders and Derrick Thomas.
1992: no first round pick. Indy gets Tampa’s #2 overall and selects Quenton Coryatt first and then Steve Entmann second. Right after that Sean Gilbert, Desmond Howard, Terreall Buckley and
Troy Vincent are drafted. Bucs could have had any of them.
1994 Trent Dilfer at #6.
Yep those Perkins/Williamson/Wyche led teams that went 5-11 or 6-10 almost every year always seemed to just miss the marquee players on the draft board (1989) or skipped the talent and went with a bust. Also recall that 86 netted nada as Bo Jackson refused to play for Culverhouse and 87 got color blind Vinny leaving 88 first rounder Paul Gruber looking like a hall of famer when compared to all the other creamsicle first round busts of the mid 80s to early 90s….. Very similar to the drafts of the Bucs in the first round for the last decade for the most part. That is what a bad GM and 6 win seasons get you come April…….

Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No chance Steelers parted ways last year with Tomlin…that’s not the Steeler way.
Tomlin has never had a losing season.
November 9th, 2018 at 12:12 pm
I’ve seen numerous teams come in with backups to their backups on the offensive line and McCoy and company couldn’t deliver. I’m done waiting for McCoy to be the player he is supposed to be, he already is the player he is supposed to be, a nice player that can occasional make a splash play or two every game or so when it is at its least consequential moment. How many times have we seen the Bucs need a big play on defense in the 4th quarter and McCoy was invisible? Does that make him a bad player? NO… it just means that he is NOT an elite player or anything close to it. He never was elite. I didn’t want him coming out of college but the options at where the team was drafting were very limited. There really wasn’t a great choice to be made there even in hindsight.

This falls under the Hammer and Nail theory. Our offense is a hammer, our defense is a nail. Easy enough to figure out.

Jmarkbuc – the local sports talk and sports writers were saying to move on – also said to get rid of Ben. I don’t think you remember the fit the city was throwing – I think even on TV they were questioning if Tomlin is back. When something like that happens you run in and try to take advantage of the situation – again, doubtful the owners take the bait, but who knows, you try.
