Fear Not
October 29th, 2018Watch you talkin’ ’bout Willis?
Bucs coach Dirk Koetter and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht very well could have their jobs on the line. The last time a coach and general manager went to Team Glazer to inform them a franchise quarterback was benched, they were unemployed nine Mike Glennon losses later. Neither Greg Schiano nor former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik have worked for an NFL team since.
This has to weigh heavy on the minds of LIcht and Koetter.
A few weeks ago, it seemed unthinkable that Licht and/or Koetter would lower Old Glory to half-mast and permanently bench America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. But after Jameis’ four-pick day yesterday, that may happen.
Jameis, however, doesn’t seem phased. Jenna Laine of ESPN spoke with Jameis and he told her what was on his mind at the possibility of getting benched for journeyman backup Ryan Fitzpatrick.

shameis finston is the martha plimpton of the nfl…
October 29th, 2018 at 5:17 am
We need to have a QB in the game who gives us the best chance to win! We need a QB in the game who brings a calmness over this team when we are losing! Although Jameis had a couple of good plays ( throws to Evans and finally Jackson) his play and that of our secondary is killing this teams chances to be competative!!!!!!!! Leave Fitz in for the rest of the season!!!
October 29th, 2018 at 5:24 am
Can’t play the QB position scared, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to play it with reckless abandon either. You need to be cautious and scan the field before making a play.
October 29th, 2018 at 5:25 am
jameis is all good…he signed a 25 mil rookie contract all guaranteed…so if he spent a cool 5 mil the past few year on stuff and agent fees, he should still have like 20 mil in the bank…the man is paid…so don’t feel to sorry for him…he’s chillin’ outside of football regardless…
and let’s not forget all the endorsement and appearance money the past few years…he’s mackin’ out for sure…
and if you saw him at pf changs and said “yo shameis throw me a 20 spot to help me pay for this meal”…you know the dude would tell you to step off

Schiano and Dom weren’t fired for Benching Freeman, who sure looked to have a lot of issues. Instead, they were losing and doing nothing to fix it. Same with Lovie who was content to go into third year with the same coaches…before he was stopped. This team will always be leaderless, inconsistent, and dysfunctional, without a franchise QB as long as Winston is considered the starting QB. Koetter and Jason’s best hope is to have a plan to use Fitz to mentor their draftee QB, with he and Ryan Griffin on the roster to stop the bleeding this year. For his on and off field issues, Winston will always, and only be a journeyman. He will never be anyone’s face of the franchise. And it is all his own doing. I wish him luck in life. He will be a solid backup like Fitz has been.
October 29th, 2018 at 5:42 am
I hope management has the balls to cut the cord ASAP. 4 years wasted on this mess of a QB and it will never get better. The time to start anew is now and not linger into other seasons….

“Kobe has stated it is time for JW and Tampa Bay to split ways for the better of the 2 parties….
Isnt it time to delve into the state of JW development and the reason why and is it correctable by coaching and not rehashing this nonstop highschool gibberish.
Kobe actually commends the 2notjoes for stating something but they never completed but probably didnt even know what they actually stated
JW game(mental and physical) was hindered/ fractured from the suspension and PRESSURE FROM THE SUCESS OF FITZPATRICK
Current state of JW mental and physical state is broken. He is worried about throwing interceptions so he throws right into the waiting hands of the defender
As we all know JW is immature off the field but he is also mentally frail and insecure on it. JW trys to hide outwardly but inside he is way off from true leadership and football development
Kobe believes the DJAX rumour was part of the final piece that broke JW…he is mentally broken. The pressure has finally gotten to him
Face of the franchise since drafted. No playoffs, suspension, success of Fritz, why cant he pass deep to DJAX and now he wants to be traded cause of JW , and all he does is nonstop interceptions
JW needs to leave Tampa and start fresh with new coaching and PRESSURE for his mental and careers sake
Like agueyo and kickers, JW is in a mental funk.
Yesterday Kobe witnessed hesitation, lack of confidence, awarenee….traits worse than his rookie year…
But this wasnt from lack of experience BUT FROM INTERNAL PRESSURE
Steve young was mentally broken from the years from tampa as the 1st pick and savior of the franchise…
Kobe Faker is witnessing the same predicament with JW3

Not America’s QB and is a 1x pro bowl ALTERNATE by the way.
wINsTon should have some fear in losing his job. Fitz has shown in the past season and half that wINsTon is replacement level talent, not the walk on water QB that many make him out to be. Hopefully the Glazers see this as well and can allow Koetter to do his job and play the players that give them the best chance to win.
Ride Fitz until the wheels fall off then move on to RG4. There’s no reason to risk having to pay wINsTon next season because he got injured throwing INTs
October 29th, 2018 at 5:50 am
JL deserves to be fired after the 2018 draft. Ronald Jones should not have been picked over Kerryon Johnson or Derrius Guice or Josh Jackson for that matter. MJ Stewart is an unmitigated bust of a pick who will be a step slow for his entire career, And we picked him over Dontae Jackson who is currently balling out in Carolina.
Alex Cappa is clearly a project player we didnt have the luxury to pick and we traded picks for him. Jordan Whitehead shows promise but is shaky in coverage. And Cichy… Well who would have guessed that an injury prone player would continue to be injury prone?
Throw that in with all the bad moves in previous years, and numerous non moves this offseason that would have significantly improved this roster, and I feel confident saying that I’ve seen enough. I’m tired of watching all the teams around us get better and better while we chug along at a snails pace trying to play catch-up.
October 29th, 2018 at 5:59 am
There’s no fear in Winston, but there sure is INT!
wINsTon (witty credit @NJBucsFan)
But seriously, folks, are we all destined to perpetually suffer as a fan base? I’m genuinely tired of trading on hope, as minimal as it is. For the rest of the season, I would like to be ENTERTAINED! That I was in the 4th quarter. Fitz put the fun back in dysfunction.
Over on Winston. To champion him at this point is to be victim of the sunk cost fallacy.
Shoo. Be gone. Go be Uber-great elsewhere. Pun intended.
October 29th, 2018 at 6:28 am
There is no future for WinSTUNNED in Tampa…Trade by Tuesday…start over now and not later…Fire sale…throw McCoy in too…
October 29th, 2018 at 6:31 am
America’s Groper. Dumb people cannot play QB in the NFL….and he is beyond dump. Trade him for a 5th round pick. You clown snowflakes should have listened to me. I wanted him traded after that showing in the preseason game in which he thre over 200 yards in a quarter. We could have got so much more from a draft pick perspective.
October 29th, 2018 at 6:35 am
First of all, Adam from New York needs to understand a little item called INCOME TAXES!…nice try Adam…..$25 million isn’t $25 million net…..
Now on to the real stuff……..the sad fact in all of this is that Jameis just really doesn’t understand, really doesn’t “get it”…..
He’s turned out to be a turnover machine and a coach-killer on top of that and in the Bucs case, probably a GM killer as well…..
October 29th, 2018 at 6:39 am
Sooner or later there is bound to be conflict between Licht and his scouts vs the coaching staff as the blame game begins. Licht probably tell team Glazer that he has acquired the talent but Koetter has turned it into an undisciplined group of players that lack direction and motivation who are being poorly coached. Team Koetter would claim that the best coaching minds in the NFL could not do any better with what Jason L has drafted and signed for.
Koetter certainly has made many questionable calls over the past 2 seasons that have contributed to several losses but Licht has so many of his draft picks contribute nada to a team that was obviosly in must win mode this season, especially with the 2018 draft. Seems like other teams get immediate impact from their draftees while the Bucs run around in circles and make excuses. Hopefully Fitz gets the good guys a W next week but its likely if the Bucs score 37, the Panthers will score 38 and if the D shows up either bad Fitz will come back or he gets hurt and Winston comes back and makes 3 more picks…… Is it too early for the Glazers to start lining up potential front office and coaching candidates?. Tough being a Bucs fan when its areal debate deciding who is more inept: the players, coaches, the GM and his scouts or ownership which has been in question since Malcolm became incapacitated over a decade ago…..

October 29th, 2018 at 6:42 am
I want to see Jamies dressed in street clothes for rest of the season
October 29th, 2018 at 6:46 am
Glazers must step in or they could be out 20 mil for next year. Trade him or make him inactive for games. Start Ryan and let RG4 be the backup.
An injury to Jameis “I Got To Get Better” Winston = 20 mil deposit from the Glazers.
Is as simple as that!
October 29th, 2018 at 6:59 am
I have been a big Jameis supporter but after yesterdays performance Jameis needs to sit for a while. That was terrible. He is just playing stupid football. I realize he is still young (under 25) but he’s been in the NFL for 4 years so he should know better by now. Our defense isn’t good enough to survive all of these turnovers. We have to play smart football and Jameis isn’t being smart. Sit him down.
October 29th, 2018 at 7:00 am
Words cannot describe what a complete disaster that AC/DC loving prick has been for this franchise.
When you are relying on a 36 year old journeyman QB 5 years into your rebuild you’ve done a piss poor job of building a franchise.
October 29th, 2018 at 7:05 am
Had another 2-3 throws that hit defenders right in the breadbasket…on different drives.
October 29th, 2018 at 7:06 am
Admins, I made a rather benign post regarding Winston about an hour ago. Scratching my head as to why it isn’t appearing or was rejected. This was my first interaction with your forum…was kind of excited to interact. That said, if my comments don’t appear, I’m happy to not engage. Just let me know please.
October 29th, 2018 at 7:08 am
Just read some of the quotes from the Cincy websites. They are treating this win like the Bucs fans and media were after the Browns win. The Bengals secondary posed for a picture in the endzone after the pick 6, something the Bucs do not have the opportunity to do since they never get any picks……. Everyone up there freaked out about how Fitz tore them apart but happy that Jameis and the penalties bailed them out. Losing to the Bucs right now is a season killer just like losing to Cleveland, the Giants or Raiders and at least 2 of those teams are already tanking for the draft. Thanks tonthe Bucs organization for bringing this franchise back to the Culverhouse era.
October 29th, 2018 at 7:09 am
Now we get to see the mindset of Jason Licht and Dirk Koetter. If they drag this out, if they waffle on mothballing Jameis Winston for the remainder of the season….then we the fans will know that it’s all about them, their jobs and their egos, and screw everyone else! If however, Licht and Koetter really care about the future of this franchise, they will come out today and announce that Fitzmagic is the starter for the remainder of the season, and Winston will be 3rd string. This will send the message that we have moved on from the failed Jameis experiment and give Bucs fans a glimmer of hope for the future!

October 29th, 2018 at 7:14 am
Jason Lichts 25-46 record along with the Jameis situation says it all. He needs to go.
October 29th, 2018 at 7:21 am
Jameis is the nail in Jason Licht, that guy (licht) has destroyed this franchise with his BS draft picks and now, he 2 out of 5 #1s are evn going to be playing on this team, if you watch Vea, what an absolute waste of a pick, and his coach buckner must not be teaching crap because vea does the same thing over and over, so licht has 2 #1s, in oj & evans, ZERO #2s, and then marpet kinda who is ok, justin evans ok….3-4 years away and get a real GM
October 29th, 2018 at 7:22 am
I’d like to think he threw the game on purpose in order to get traded. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Lol.
October 29th, 2018 at 7:23 am
This team has been handcuffed by personnel decisions since Jason Licht was hired. In both the Aguayo and Jameis draft choices , their play was better in
the previous year than the year they were drafted. Can’t really fault him for taking the leap on Jameis, but at some point the talent has to match the
potential. There are just too many flaws in Jameis’s game to continue on this course. At this point we have to rely on Fitz because his decision making and acurracy are what this offense needs. IF he falters then we need to assess
Ryan Griffin’s future with this team.
Trading for JPP was a no brainer on defense but, the majority of his free agent signings
and some draft choices have failed to upgrade this defense and is in disarray.
For these reasons,it is time to move on from Jason Licht, His gambles don’t have a payoff all too often.

October 29th, 2018 at 7:34 am
If by some chance we keep WInston…..it will have to be at a team friendly contract.
I have been a supporter but this off-field behavior coupled with turnovers does it for me.
We need to try to trade him for anything we can get….let Fitz and Griffin finish out the season and draft a QB.
October 29th, 2018 at 7:42 am
Jamies trade value is nothing out might get a 5th found for him if your lucky
Turnover prone and off field problems
Not even Jerry would touch this guy
Should have trade him as soon as he was off suspension while ever wad still high on him
Heck even Strahn said time to move on

Time to move on from America’s Turn-Over Machine Jamis Winston. I agree with everyone else, make him 3rd string and finish out the season with Fitzpatrick. Even better trade him and try to get something, anything……..
They never should have taken the ball away from Hot-handed Fitzpatrick in the first place. You can just see the other players believe in him and will play hard when he is in the game. He knows how to see the field and utilize ALL the weapons out there versus just one or two. Now, if we could just find a decent run game and shore up the defense we could be contenders.

October 29th, 2018 at 8:30 am
we are 5-2. glad the ranks at 1buc didn’t make the season one mans audition. I’m sure if that was the case someone, maybe djax, would have wanted to be traded and the others will feel the same way as this is a gamble on their expense.
phew!
October 29th, 2018 at 8:32 am
Jeagan
With all due respect I’m not sure I follow your logic…perhaps we just disagree.
I would not view dragging it out or playing JW as Koetter trying to keep his job…at this point…unless he truly believes JW gives him the best chance to win the ONLY way Koetter gets to keep his job is to WIN!
Perhaps your point is that JW could win a few more but still handicap the franchise and that’s why Koetter would play him?
I used to believe that Koetter HAD to play JW because of our enormous commitment to the #1 pick. Now I believe Resurrection of Duff’s point comes into play. IF the Glazers even allow Koetter to play JW they are gambling with 20 million bucks of their own money if as Duff points out JW gets hurt throwing all those interceptions. Good snark at the end their Duff.
We perhaps are transitioning from the Glazers demanding Koetter play JW to perhaps demanding they wrap him in bubble wrap to protect their 20 million.
October 29th, 2018 at 8:46 am
for JW to have a team friendly contract, JW would need to pay the Glazers for the privilege of a roster spot.
October 29th, 2018 at 8:51 am
Winston just threw another pick from Koetter’s office!

When Jameis is good , he turns it over. When he is bad , he turns it over more. You can play him the rest of theyear, but he ain’t changed and never will and you can consitantly when with him.
October 29th, 2018 at 8:59 am
Man he is not the first . How many times Elie Mannon did this his first 6 years. So we need to keep Winston Dirk K left Matt Ryan now Ryan is playing good. Now that should tell us all something. But know body can see that on this site.
October 29th, 2018 at 9:25 am
Give this team confidence, swagger and a better chance to win… play Fitz.
October 29th, 2018 at 9:57 am
Licht and Koetter gotta go. I’d keep Winston on the roster for next year just so the next coach has the option of playing him. Dirk makes too many poor and just lame decisions to stay the head coach. Licht has done a horrible job in free agency and everyone’s realizing his drafting is ass as well. It may be time to try to get some draft picks for next year already. Especially if we look like we’re gonna lose with either QB
October 29th, 2018 at 10:02 am

The NFL is filled with older QBs that aren’t gonna be playing forever and need a good backup. Aaron Rogers was Favre’s backup and learned well. My hope is that one of the better teams with older QBs, New England, Giants, New Orleans, LA Chargers would have interest in Jameis as a backup.
A strong coach like Billichek or Sean Payton may be able to coach the turnovers out of Winston and being a backup for 2 or 3 years may set him up to be a mid level QB.
Our issue in Tampa after Steve Young/Vinny/Dilfer/Freeman and now Winston is that none of these QBs were good enough to carry a team with all the holes we had as well as bad coaching. Young backed up Montana for a number of years and with Walsh and later Seiford, he became a good to all time great QB.
Testaverde went on to be a decent journeyman QB. Hopefully that will be Winston’s path. I wish him luck in the future but he’s clearly not polished enough to be an NFL starter now.
October 29th, 2018 at 1:57 pm
Thank goodness u all r not the GM or we woukd have Felipe Franks here next year. It’s not your money so a 5th year will not hurt the BUCS ! He played horrible no doubt & should be benched. Sometimes when hit rock bottom it finally clicks. U guys bitch about EVERY INT! Favre woukd not have survived here. Before we trade him for nothing let’s see how this plays out.
October 29th, 2018 at 2:21 pm
Favre was a gambler who SOMETIMES in his fierce desire to win would force a ball and get an interception.
JW is a gambler who also SOMETIMES forces balls into tight windows because of his competitive fire and his cognitive dissonance over his actual talent.
JW frequently throws int’s not simply taking chances but brain dead passes that indicate he does not see the field. Favre did see the field and his ints were not because he was unaware of who was where on the field.
PUHLEEZE stop with the Favre comparisons. Yeah they both may gamble but one did it successfully…HOF…SB…the other can’t even get us to the playoffs.
October 29th, 2018 at 4:31 pm
Calling him America’s Quarterback is an insult to America. You’re basically saying America sucks.

I remember Jim Plunkett number 1 pick in the draft New England Patriots, then San Francisco and Raiders, won 2 SuperBowls…….he took time to figure it out, but he got his mojo and became a winner……his new nickname is Jaimes Plunkett Winston let him figure it out he is only what 25……. just many of his bone head decision can be fix……let’s see I remember Steve Young and we gave up on him to early……patience it’s going to have to be with Jaimes Plunkett…..
