Cryptic Warning
October 29th, 2018So yesterday Joe awakened and soon after heard the news that wasn’t surprising at all but still depressing.
DeSean Jackson had asked for a trade.
And the day went steeply downhill after that.
Again, Joe has no idea if Jackson’s request is true. It is interesting that Jackson came to Tampa Bay because he wanted to play with America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. Now Joe is guessing that marriage has soured.
Joe also remembered that JoeBucsFan.com internationally-popular columnist Ira Kaufman predicted on his podcast when the Bucs signed Jackson that, per Ira, he would not finish his three-year contract in Tampa Bay.
Earlier last week, DeSean Jackson’s mom — Joe hasn’t had the pleasure of meeting her but she seems like a cool person on Twitter — had this to say about her son when an Eagles fan grew wistful of the way things were.
OH, YEAHHHHhh. This should address the naysayers about @deseanjackson11 ability to be a “deep threat” and inability for a QB to connect with him. One among many moments in NFL history. Thanks for the Throw Back moment. https://t.co/wDv217WGw6
— DeSean Jackson’s Mom (@GeeJackson10) October 23, 2018
Joe isn’t sure if Jackson’s mom was referring to Michael Vick or Jameis or who. We do know that Jackson preferred to have backup Ryan Fitzpatrick remain in the starting lineup. Not sure if yesterday changes anything in the Jackson household provided the rumor of Jackson wanting out is true.
Joe was sure hoping Jackson’s mom would have shot down the rumor on Twitter. She has not.

With Fitz back at the helm, DJax (and hopefully everyone in Buc Nation) willbe happy campers once again…
7-2 the rest of the way with Fitz. Here we go…
October 29th, 2018 at 12:12 am
At this point, the season is still alive but it’s on life support. Rality is we would be lucky to win 7 games this year. Get the most value you can get now for D Jax. Hopefully a 3rd rounder. Give the new coach and GM for next year as much ammo as possible on draft day.
October 29th, 2018 at 12:15 am
cmurda: Why would be lucky to win 7 games this year? We’d most likely be 4-3 or 5-2 if Fitz started every game. We have an insanely potent offense and if we don’t heavily lose the turnover battle with our new and improved now mediocre defense should outscore most teams.
October 29th, 2018 at 12:17 am
This dysfunctional circus ran by the glazer clowns is far more entertaining off the field than on. the incompetence is top to bottom and 100% undisputed
October 29th, 2018 at 12:17 am
I respectfully disagree.
I think we need all hands on deck to help us finish as strong as possible this year, and with Fitz’ accuracy to Djax, he’s one of our best players, and one of the best WR in the entire NFL.
October 29th, 2018 at 12:20 am
That reply was for cmurda…
I will literally picket outside One Buc Place if Fitz isn’t our starter the rest of the way, guaranteed DJax will stay if Fitz is the starter. He’s too valuable of a weapon to let go with Fitz in there to get the rock to him.
October 29th, 2018 at 12:21 am
We have a special set of playmakers and it sucks we don’t have the people to deliver to them. Hopefully fitz can make it interesting at the least. As a true Winston fan? I’m done and ready for change! I just cant take it anymore. Love my bucs
October 29th, 2018 at 12:26 am
Winston’s gotta go. Fitz lights it up with Djax
October 29th, 2018 at 12:27 am
And I want fitz the rest of the way! Trade Winston and McCoy. Love McCoy but hes only got another few years. Winston and McCoy should give us a good player or a great draft pick or a combination of both.
October 29th, 2018 at 12:27 am
Didn’t you all see the HUGE difference in attitude from the Bucs once Fitz came in???
The defense was tired of being back in so quickly after Jameis kept throwing his interceptions..Frustration..Offense just as frustrated by his bad throws..
Things will change UNLESS Klueless Koetter goes back to Jameis!!!
October 29th, 2018 at 12:27 am
Blackmagic..I agree at this point..
October 29th, 2018 at 12:35 am
The Bucs might as well start their fire sale. They aren’t going anywhere with Winston at QB. 10 picks in just 3 games. That should never happen to an NFL QB with 4 years of experience. Winston is not even an average NFL QB at this point. He is certainly NOT worth $21 million per year. If the Bucs end this season on a losing note, Licht and koetter won’t have to worry about what to do with Winston. The new Coach and GM will be making that decision! Bad QB play and undependable place kicking have doomed the Bucs 2018 season. Enough said!!!
October 29th, 2018 at 12:35 am
If Jackson really doesn’t wanna be here, he needs to go. Can almost guarantee that Gruden would cough up at least a 3rd for him.
But Jackson is a weapon that can still be used by the Bucs. Regardless of which QB is throwing to him. But if Jameis isn’t here next year we all know Fitz isn’t the future so what’s the point if Jackson is just going to cut and run when his contract is up next season?
October 29th, 2018 at 12:43 am
Let’s stop with the McCoy/Winston trades. Not gonna happen. McCoy is injured, and Winston’s stock is worth less than 100 shares of Enron.
The Buccaneers are stuck with these two until the off-season, but there are other players who could bring in some help (or picks). The receiving corps is deep enough that 1-2 players could be very valuable to a team expecting to play into January. If the defense could be bolstered into being ‘average’, the offense wouldn’t need to be #1 (top ten would be good).
*All* of the playoff teams of the Bucs (starting in ’79) have something in common. They all had *great* defenses, and a so-so offense. A great offense and a so-so defense might yield the same results, and we are closer to that scenario than the previous ones.
October 29th, 2018 at 12:53 am
Well the little cry baby,Keyshawn Johnson mini me,throw me the damn ball with his mommy tweeting her 2 cents yday finally got his long ball from our former starting QB. I’m sure Djax doesn’t wanna be traded now that the beard is back. Licht is managing for his job and Dork is coaching for his. JW and a 3rd rounder for PP?!?
October 29th, 2018 at 12:59 am
So people suggest that our GM give up and kindly set up the next regime instead of fighting for their jobs? Hahaha. That’s pure fantasy land. Maybe if they had some job security I could see them selling for next season.
If they are giving up on Jameis, why would the glazers trust the same guy who drafted him to pick his replacement. I think their hands are tied to Winston either way. If Fitz plays this season out, the writing is on the wall, Licht basically proves himself incompetent.
October 29th, 2018 at 1:04 am
It is time to say good-bye to Winston. He cannot be here next year (costs too much $$). He has done NOTHING with the chances he has been given. Miami, Buffalo, Jacksonville, and Denver all have QB needs. Why not trade Winston for just about anything (conditional 7th round?)? If Jameis can’t be traded, cut him after week 12 No reason to have him next year with a ridiculous salary. There will be a vet or two that would love to come to see lay with this receiving corps.
I think Brate should be traded (again too much money. maybe Az would be interested?
Noah Spence can be packaged with Adam Humpries to get a DB or DE.
It is time for Jason Licht to save the season or ruin his career trying. It would be much better by ruining his career standing still!
October 29th, 2018 at 1:10 am
The Bucs are the worst team in the NFC South
They don’t know how to win football games
They know how to move the football
They know how to turn over the football
They are a ” Box Score” team
October 29th, 2018 at 1:17 am
The fans go
” We have the best offense in the NFL”
They look at the total yards
But they don’t look at the 19 turnovers
This is a team built for stats
Not for winning football games
They don’t know how to win football games
October 29th, 2018 at 1:26 am
I don’t know how you can be so blind. This is a terrible site. Djax has not come to Tampa to play with JW. You know damn well what players say when they come in. Who is jw??
And djax didn’t want to get traded because jw cant hit him. If it was the case he would have asked for it in the offseason. What djax can’t live with, and rightfully so, is the unprofessional and unethical decision not to play the qb that gives them the best chance to win and make the season a jw audition. Djax wants to win. He wants playoffs. Like the other 52 sheeps in that locker room. And dont tell me jw is more talented. That’s total bullsit. Ryan Fitzpatrick, with these weapons, is an mvp candidate. No less.
October 29th, 2018 at 1:29 am
DJax came to Tampa for the money
The Bucs were the highest bidders, bidding against themselves

The Bucs might be bidding against themselves in the DeSean Jackson sweepstakes. It’s similar to 2013, when they were bidding against themselves for Darrelle Revis.
October 29th, 2018 at 1:35 am
Lakeland that’s just jibberish. Empty rhetoric.
This team knows how to win. What we don’t know is how to Not beat ourselves.
Whenever we do that, we win.
We have the talent to beat anyone but lack the discipline to not beat ourselves.
It’s not solely one person’s fault, they take turns making mistakes at inopportune times
My biggest peeve of this team is they just don’t look organized and professional until they are down and they HAVE to turn it on
To me that is what separates the great teams and it has a lot to do with coaching and buy in
I am a huge Winston fan, most people know that, but truth is the Bucs are just playing better and is more fun to watch with Fitz in there.
Stop beating yourselves. Just win.
Go Bucs!!

This is an article from a NJ newspaper, written 2 days ago………Although Jackson insisted he wants to re-sign with the Redskins, he also made it clear that he will sign with the team that offers him the most money.
“My numbers and my production on the field speak for itself,” Jackson said to CSN earlier this month. “The ball is in my court a little bit … whenever the offers come in, (I’ll) take the best offer.”
It’s my personal belief that Jackson is seeking a 4-5 year deal in the $40-45 million range, with $20-25 million in guarantee money. And he probably has figured in the money that he can save in Income Tax if he sign with the Bucs. Jackson and his Agent has created an imaginary bidding war between 3-4 teams. But the Bucs are probably the only team that’s willing to give him the contract that he seek.

If they knew so much about winning football games. They would be winning games on a consistent basis.
October 29th, 2018 at 1:46 am
I watched New Orleans beat the Minnesota Vikings tonight
30- 20
Drew Brees
18/23 120 Yards 1 TD, 1 INT
New Orleans 106 Yards rushing
270 Total Yards
Kirk Cousins
31/41 359 Yards 2 TD, 1 INT
Minnesota 85 Yards Rushing
444 Total Yards
October 29th, 2018 at 2:28 am
We are 5-2. This is where we are. Making this season an audition for jw doesn’t count. They played the best qb and we are 5-2. Playoff bound. Argue with that decamper. Please do.
And tell me why jw is more talented. What does he do better. Please tell me.
October 29th, 2018 at 2:41 am
All I know is..If Dirk Koetter does not get to at least 8-8, then he should be shown the door. Buc nation is truly tired of either goin to games or sittin by there TV sets watching the Bucs lose.Hell, you can’t even enjoy your refreshments knowin what the outcome will be. If you lose by 1 or 30. Its a loss. And every GD yr we hear, We will get better. Meantime once again, we are in our usual place as NFC South..celler Dwellers. It ain’t easy being a Bucs fan. You gotta just Laugh to keep from cryin and have..more than a few drinks to..Numb the pain.
October 29th, 2018 at 3:14 am
5-2
October 29th, 2018 at 3:27 am
it’s like a circus act now…but we gotta ride with the beard for now…
shameis finston is the martha plimpton of the nfl…go figure…
also dirk got insecure in his presser, saying “i know how to make decisions”…sort of validating himself like he knows what to do…

I’m not giving up!
It’s not about next year
It’s about this year!
I want to win! ..I’m NOT giving up!
In fact, I want to keep what we got
and upgrade with a few trades
and give Fitz some help
no-one should just give up! .. 🏈

Hmmm, some interesting comments after yet another ‘heroic’ loss (ya, right, we’ll go with that). BUT … a loss is a loss is a loss. We are NOT 5-2, we are NOT 4-3 … we are 3-4 (and lucky to be that). We are also back in the cellar of the NFC South, which is exactly where a team with this lack of ‘balanced talent’ and ‘poor coaching’ belongs.
Bucs beat New Orleans & Philly by being imaginative AND relatively mistake-free on offense (won the turnover battle in the first & broke even in the second … it also helped when they were both down several key players). We’ve handily LOST THE TURNOVER BATTLE in every other game … and lost every one except for the Cleveland game (beat them because … THEY’RE THE BROWNS & they BEAT THEMSELVES, just like the Bucs do).
I agree with cmurda: “At this point, the season is still alive but it’s on life support. Reality is we would be lucky to win 7 games this year.” Personally think it’s more in the neighborhood of 5-6 games, but that’s irrelevant … there’s a much-deserved house-cleaning coming at the end of the year. Koetter & staff: Gone. Licht: Gone. Jameis & several other underperformers: Gone. And we will enter yet another rebuilding period.
Would prefer to see Fitz start the rest of the way. He’ll make his share of mistakes, BUT the offense obviously responds to him. He also seems to pick up the Bucs defense; unfortunately, this defense simply isn’t talented enough to keep the Bucs in games against decent TEAMS. What we can expect from them was pretty clear yesterday: limited if any pass rush, mediocre LB play, and a Secondary that’s just too SLOW (hard to generate INTs when you can’t stick with receivers). Whatever games we might win the rest of the way will be because of shoot-outs, and Fitz gives us the best chance of doing that. I can also see Fitz being our QB NEXT YEAR BTW (don’t think we’ll draft Jameis’ replacement until 2020).
October 29th, 2018 at 4:25 am
agree Mike Johnson
but here we are ..glutens for punishment
you have to have thick skin to be a Buc fan
but all is not lost, a mini win streak and we’re right back in the hunt. It all depends what our coach decides his next move is going forward. His regime hangs in the balance and he has a fearful decision to make that’s threatening his very own locker room. I do not envy Coach Koetter’s position at all but there is an 800lb. gorilla in the room, and it’s just too big to sweep under the rug. A decision has to be made. That game was winnable. The Carolina game we play underdog!
October 29th, 2018 at 4:55 am
I’ve turned on the Bucs. This fanbase has ruined the enjoyment of being a Bucs fan. Trade DJax and Fitz. Solve the issue. DJax looks to be the reason for the issues and rumors. Jameis is a fabulous young man, a super talented QB, and a team leader. Hopefully he get out of Tampa and comes back to bite them in the BUTT. Organization is a dumpster fire.
October 29th, 2018 at 5:06 am
Gruden may want to swap quarterbacks?
October 29th, 2018 at 5:45 am
Winston wasn’t voted team captain for a reason. And the DJax-JW3 marriage likely soured about November last year when Winston couldn’t hit him on the long ball. Jameis will make a good journeyman but will never again be team captain or considered any prospect as a franchise QB by anyone. You can bank it. Placeholder? Maybe. Coveted backup? For sure. The face or future. No way.
October 29th, 2018 at 6:19 am
Lakeland
In that excerpt, the columnist said DJax wanted to sign for the most money he could get. DJax said he wanted the best offer. That doesn’t necessarily mean the most money.
October 29th, 2018 at 6:28 am
Defense Rules
The defense played good enough to win that game yesterday. Take away any one of those four picks and replace it with 3 points and we win. Make all of our extra points and we win. Considering that we have 3 rookies starting I think the defense played great.
October 29th, 2018 at 6:32 am
Remember when we found out that Vinny was color blind. I think Jameis May be color blind. And I am too. I’ve been wearing rose colored glasses
October 29th, 2018 at 6:45 am
We can still make the playoffs with Fitzpatrick
October 29th, 2018 at 8:01 am
Wow here we go with the Fitzmagic talk again. People I’m this town never learn but ok let’s pretend like games 3-4 didn’t happen and Fitz also didn’t get benched after throwing 3 interceptions and that half of you weren’t here during the game calling for him to be benched. So fickle are bucs fans. Why is this offense insanely potent? Why are people acting like we were unstoppable with Fitz under center? Fitz is not saving this season and fully expect a good ol housecleaning at the end of the year. He’s already benched both Fitz and Winston next up griffin
October 29th, 2018 at 8:28 am
I have no idea what’s more important to the Glazers, wins now or trying to develop a 4th year qb. But I do know what’s important to me, to keep me watching. Wins! Period! And being competitive in games you lose. The Winston experiment is over for me. I don’t care how successful he may or may not be with his next team, he sucks for us. I’m done investing my Sunday afternoons in him. #walkedawayfromwinston.
October 29th, 2018 at 8:45 am
Actually I am ok to give Griffin a chance. If he is as good as Kotters says he is he deserves a chance. Is not like we have anything to lose. We are losing the games anyway.
October 29th, 2018 at 8:49 am
D.R.
Agree with most of your points except for the performance of our D yesterday. I agree with Atl Buc…4 ints that should have been six!!! Gawd only knows how many points JW left on the field yesterday. That’s not only strategically hard to overcome it’s a psychological killer. After that 2nd or 3rd pick you could just see the life drain from that defense. It was clearly a “here we go again” moment. You think we’re tired of watching all these picks imagine how they feel?
Like Atlanta Buc I wear the rose colored glasses but really the only major problem I had with our D yesterday was Buckner and nobody has mentioned our DL coach. I thought his guys would have had a decent game if they hadn’t been suckered over and over and over again by Dalton’s hard count.
Buckner is a wily vet himself…I can’t believe he didn’t prepare for that and when it was clear that he didn’t he should have just called them all over and said the next MOFO who stupidly jumps offside due to Dalton’s hard count will have to go back into the tunnel and face me….I’ve had enough!!!
October 29th, 2018 at 9:10 am
I am not sure Winston is that popular on the team. I’ve seen a definite coolness toward him since is absurd W-eating rah-rah episode last season.
Players know what’s what on a team. Notice the huge difference in how players respond to Fitzpatrick vs. Winston.
Fitzpatrick may not be the answer, but from what I see in “team”, the players know Winston is definitely not. I am sure they, too, tire of Winston’s bonehead turnovers that cost the team consistent wins.
Time to see what Ryan Griffin can do live.
October 29th, 2018 at 9:12 am
Can you blame DJax? Once again he was wide open deep and Winston choked.
This team HAS to have a deep threat for the underneath passing game to work. If teams know Winston is weak deep, that makes underneath coverages easier.
October 29th, 2018 at 9:24 am
Trade Djax for a 1st ! Cooper was just traded for a 1st …
October 29th, 2018 at 10:29 am
ATLBuc & StPete … In the future this defense may improve, but right now they’re struggling. Cincy really isn’t that good IMO, yet our defense gave up 30 points to them in once 24 mins TOP. DLine just didn’t get any effective pressure on Dalton, nor were they particularly effective at stopping Mixon in the first half especially. LVD played well I thought but Taylor was meh. Secondary made a lot of tackles it looked like, but how many passes defensed did they have? Davis impressed me, but not Stewart. I’m not even sure what I think of Evans any longer after what I saw yesterday.
October 29th, 2018 at 1:44 pm
We have a bigger problem than the qb and it’s coaching. Jameis spooked like complete crap yesterday, but I really think his being handcuffed and told what to do is screwing his head up by this lousy staff. Dirk has lost me. Obviously at this point it’s hard to argue Jameis should get the rekianer of the season, but it’s pretty much lost at this point trying to make the playoffs, Keep starting him for the rest of the year and see how he finished. I really don’t want to see him win a superbowl in Jacksonville next season
