Key Battle: Marpet Vs. Atkins

If the Bucs are going to be able to remotely control the line of scrimmage, Bengals stud defensive tackle Geno Atkins will have to be handled.
Gerald McCoy and Atkins are largely regarded as the best two defensive tackles not named “Aaron Donald” by NFL types (surely not by fans). So it is a safe bet that if Atkins cannot be handled, the Bengals could have a field day on the line of scrimmage.
Enter Bucs left guard Ali Marpet. Joe asked him in the locker room this week if Atkins would be a key focus for him. Marpet thought for a second and said, “A three-technique, yeah.” So he expects to see a lot of Atkins today.
Joe asked Marpet if Atkins was anything like GMC. Marpet wouldn’t go there.
“People like to make comparisons all the time,” Marpet said. “I’m not going to make comparisons. He’s a good player. He’s a strong player. He gets great leverage. He has been around long enough to know what he has to do to be successful. So he’s a smart player, there is no question.”
Marpet hasn’t exactly had a great season since moving to left guard. If anything, Marpet should not be overwhelmed by Atkins.
Marpet has been going against GMC in practice for years. What better way to prep for Atkins?

I’m a Ali fan but this is no contest. Atkins has NO ICE CREAM in him whatsoever! Poor Ali is used to of practicing against McIceCream and King Hippo so he’ll probably get his lunch eaten this afternoon.

The Bucs are a complete dumpster fire!!!! I love it. What a joke of a head coach and he’s just like Willie T at FSU totally overmatched. Today we will see Ali Muppet get exposed by Atkins and what a joke giving him that new contract is. Jameis and #KLUELESSKOETTER don’t get along and can’t stand talking to each other. Now DJax wants out, Where are all the people screaming playoffs and Super Bowl after 2 weeks???? LOLOLOLOL

Atkins actually makes plays and changes a game. Marpet is not nearly as good as this website thinks he is. This goes for many other players as the “Lost Decade” has proven. At least Marpet can now fill three positions with mediocrity if needed.

I don’t know why some of these people even act like they’re Bucs fans… SMH. The team is 3-3 with the number 1 ranked offense in the league……. The sky is not falling….

Number 1 ranked offense? They have the worst running game in the league and a QB that is highly inaccurate. Fitz may have put the Bucs at the top of the league stats but Mr. Magoo is slowly destroying that.

Decent coaching to get better execution is our biggest need on the offensive side. We do have needs overall that are going to have to wait until the off season for the most part. They are obvious on the special teams side and the defensive side as well.
Meanwhile let’s thrash the Bengals.

Told you so!!! The Bucs made a really bad decision by going to Winston when they did. 4 pics in a first half. Pathetic! The Chicago was Fitz typical of what he had been doing. Fitz should have stayed the the starting QB. Winston is in NO WAY worth $20 plus million dollars per year. Trade him while you can. give him and the Bucs a fresh start. Without winston in the lieup the Bucs could and should be at a minimum 5 and 2, maybe even 6 and 1!!!
