Barber Answered The Bell
October 14th, 2018Patient. Powerful. Relentless.
That’s the Bucs’ No. 1 running back.
Dirk Koetter pretty much announced to the world this week that the Bucs would make more of a commitment to run the football today. And the on Friday night on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Koetter reinforced that Peyton Barber is his No. 1 guy.
Tampa Bay did run the ball more today in the groin-stomp loss to Atlanta, and it was a bright spot.
No, Barber doesn’t have electric speed and he’s not going to a Pro Bowl anytime soon. But he’s worthy of being a No. 1 running back.
Barber flashed just about every aspect of his game in 13 carries for 82 yards today, as well as four catches on four targets for 24 yards and a TD grab. Joe almost could hear a feint call of the iconic A-train whistle when Barber powered through and over two Falcons defenders on a second-half run up the gut.
The Bucs are still figuring out what they have in 24-year-old Barber, and it looks pretty good. His yards per carry is now up to 3.7 on the season. That’s not special, but it is when you’re used to seeing Doug Martin carry the load.
Hopefully, Dirk Koetter decide to run left more often and to ditch some (not all) of the stretch calls for Barber that rarely work well.

hahahahhahahahahhah….that defense is terrible and the bucs lost, he is the same crappy 2.6 per carry RB he has been, when he gets shut down by the browns defense this week then you will see, and a real NFL RB just torched the browns, the bucs do not have a legit nfl rb on the roster, you need to sell this jason licht propaganda to someone else

I knew this article would be written. Yes today he wasn’t awful but he’s not a number 1 back. If he plays a decent offense line with a decent pass rush he reverts back to a scrub. He is mediocre at his best

Barber has been playing well these last two weeks.
Don’t look now but Winston is the leading qb in the nfl this week as of the moment I type this. Mariota and Flaco still have a chance the de-throne him. Lmao

It’s the o line that’s the problem. Not barber or Martin or any other back the last few years.
The o line can’t run block. Plain and simple.

OK, I need 4 more TD’s from Barber to win huge money! Bovado.com

And hey……Rojo actually caught some passes…..things are looking up….our offense is mostly healthy but….that D.

Barber has yet to take over a drive much less a quarter of football. Sorry, not buying that snake oil. His lack of taking over any aspect of a game makes the offense one-dimensional. Hence, the whole year when Fitz wasn’t lighting it up covering for him.

Take our rushing game and stuff it up your azz. When we need one yard the running game folds like a lawn chair. We are a scared soft team and it starts with coaching
October 14th, 2018 at 5:58 pm
meh… he had some good plays. Not a number on running back.

May I add that at least 2 teams won games today when their QBs threw at least 2 TDS.
Bears 28 – MIAMI 30
Buffalo 13 – Houston 20
If you look up NFL LEADERS you’ll find Jameis Winston’s picture under the QB position. Check your fantasy teams.

The only thing that matters is the win
No consolation prizes!

Next week is make or break time. Dirk’s seat is redhot and if we see this same ole unprepared BS again in front of the home crowd Dirk needs to be gone.

I can’t believe how easily impressed people are, no wonder people think Geraldine is a superstar, you can have one decent game and be treated like a hero. These are the arse kisser articles to gain more access to players I guess. Loser mentality in full effect around these parts.

LakeLand – Amen!
Nice day but can’t get into the endzone. STILL need a FB, one that will rip the heart out of opposing LBs.

I don’t care about individual accomplishments, the team lost. Get rid of the coaches cause they can’t teach anything.
October 14th, 2018 at 6:21 pm
He runs hard.

Dirk,
Wake up !!Gotta get that D straight .Cmon Man !!!
I know you have been together a looong time ,don’t cut your nose off to spite your face.
I wish I knew what the fix is. However I do know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome.
I know one thing for sure ,its no fun watching your team get blown out in the first quarter every game.
Maybe some of the mistakes our qbs make could be avoided if the defense on the other team wasn’t teeing off every play because we are always playing behind.
Next up Browns ,don’t look now but I think Baker Mayfield is smiling somewhere

The Bucs plays in the NFC South
You have to out score these NFC South teams
These teams score points
October 14th, 2018 at 6:50 pm
The Bucs offense and defense was poor early
The Bucs scored TD, missed PAT
The Falcons scored 3 TDs
The Bucs had 2 punts, interception
21-6 Atlanta lead
October 14th, 2018 at 6:52 pm
He opened up some nice runs but at the end of the day he still can’t get 2 yards out of the I-formation.
But I don’t blame Barber, I blame our o-line and scheme, as would anyone with any understanding of the game.
October 14th, 2018 at 7:40 pm
but they don’t give barber the ball enough — ever!!!
he is a back who definitely gets more comfortable with touches…you can see it…he gains more wiggle and cut as he gets more touches…it’s ridic that he never gets more than a dozen totes of the rock…wtf is wrong with koetter!…and why do we always send barber center/right…center/left is where our line strength is….wtf
October 14th, 2018 at 7:40 pm
barber needs 22 carries a game!
October 14th, 2018 at 8:23 pm
Did anyone notice that T.J. plays in which Barber was stopped at the line of scrimmage was when our joke of a RG, Benecoch, totally whiffed on his man, and then the play was blown up.
Here’s a CRRRRRAZY idea….
Get us a STARTING right guard that doesn’t get embarrassed on running plays.
Call me crazy, but that could lead to a better run game.
Dude was flat out embarrassing for the Bucs today, along with Smitty’s joke of a scheme…

I say next year we sign a veteran or 2 for the OLine and draft 1. This team is that close to replicating the famous Dallas OLine.jameis on the other hand look great vs the blitz. As for our WRs,I don’t know what happened with ME today and on the “overthrow” to DJax I felt that if that was Godwin he would’ve dove for it and scored the TD. On the other bright side Joe JPP added another sac!
October 15th, 2018 at 1:37 am
Our running game will be back to 80 total yards on a 2.9 ypc average next week when we aren’t playing the Falcons.
October 15th, 2018 at 1:32 pm
Adam you cant get 22 carries when youre three scores back !!
