“Body Language”
September 28th, 2018The NFL mic’d up Gerald McCoy against the Steelers and it was an interesting few minutes.
It opens with McCoy embracing and talking to Warren Sapp before the game, and then talking up rookie cornerback Carlton Davis, who was a starter against Pittsburgh.
The Monday Night Football announcers’ voices were infused when McCoy was heard apologizing to Ben Roethlisberger during the game — before the whistle was blown following a tackle of Big Ben. “He was apologizing in mid-hit.”
Interesting to Joe was McCoy barking at his team to improve their “body language.” Meanwhile, Dirk Koetter was walking behind McCoy and not exactly showing enthusiastic body language.
McCoy is also seen professing his love of Kwon Alexander as a teammate to Kwon himself, and more.
Here’s the link. Joe’s certain the anti-McCoy crowd will offer its share of predictable potshots.

Smh where is Tmax when you need him? This patty cake mentality is just what the new soft NFL is looking for.

Gosh, he sure is a nice guy.
Please retire asap and become a youth minister.

He’s a good man….and a gentleman. Good or bad, it’s who he is.
September 28th, 2018 at 8:24 am
Say what you will about people taking shots at gmc but this is the only buc to have zero stats after a game but people say he was dominate. There are plenty of hall of fame guys with the nice guy persona, who has ever seen one of them act that way on the field of battle or acting like having fun is more important than winning or losing.
GMC is the same player he was last year and the year before, hop is outplaying him so why hasn’t his level of play risen? He just wants to have fun that’s why. GMC entire career he’s been on losing teams now he’s not the best player on the d line. 3 games not one mention of get off because his time is up and he doesn’t even have that useless skill anymore. Get 9-10 sacks, help your defense rise up be on a team that makes the playoffs maybe we stop speaking truth about him but once again the defense will be the reason we won’t make the playoffs but hoping we do despite weak leadership from gmc
September 28th, 2018 at 8:28 am
Nice Person !!! Huge Attention Seeker !!! Talented Player !!! Terrible Leader and example on the Football Field !!! Soft and Fake breeds soft and fake !!!
September 28th, 2018 at 8:31 am
Can we add the missed arm tackle by Kwon in the redzone? Its not just GMC.
September 28th, 2018 at 8:36 am
Yep, apparently DTs cover WRs now too. It’s ALL Gerald’s fault! LOL!
September 28th, 2018 at 8:46 am
These are the lower ranked defenses in total yards
32. Minnesota (4 games) 1526 Yards
31. Kansas City 1422 Yards
30. LA Rams (4 games) 1334 Yards
29. Tampa Bay 1300 Yards
28. New Orleans 1263
27. Pittsburgh 1231
26. New England 1219
25. Atlanta 1205
All of these pass happy offenses killing their defenses
September 28th, 2018 at 9:02 am
he aint no Lee Roy Selmon…not even close…only thing they have in common…is Oklahoma
September 28th, 2018 at 9:04 am
Nobody has ever apologized for flattening one of our QBS.
September 28th, 2018 at 9:06 am
How can we explain losing our starting safety but letting our division rival sign a pro bowl caliber player?
That’s not playoff type thinking.
September 28th, 2018 at 9:06 am
I want to win. I take no pleasure in bashing him. Hopefully his injury is minor and he gets multiple sacks this Sunday. Pittsburgh is over, one game. Let’s get back to winning and I hope they don’t have anymore night games. It’s always a problem.
September 28th, 2018 at 9:24 am
Lakeland
You cant add the rams and minnesota in that mix. They have played more games. Anyway not sure where you are getting your fact but coming into last night game, the rams was the #4 defense and after last night they fell to #9 according to nfl.com. obviously that will rise once the other 3O teams play this weekend. Minnesota sits at 21 and again that will rise when the other teams play.
September 28th, 2018 at 9:41 am
I said this on another thread and it was from Rick Stroud how when Sapp played here he got Marcus Jones and Greg Spires big contracts because he brought up the play of everyone around #99 and that absolutely is not the case for GMC, the continual argument was he needed better players….fact is he is just a guy, you want to see a man he was wearing 99 last nite in the LA Coliseum causing a fumble to close out a W
September 28th, 2018 at 9:55 am
Dusthty- We’ve known all along that GMC isn’t THAT guy. Donald and Sapp are generational players.
In a way, we’re the one’s guilty of higher expectations. One look at GMC’s stats will tell you that he is simply a consistent DT, nothing more, nothing less.
Hopefully we will witness what this d-line is capable of when we get everyone healthy. I think we already look better pressuring and that’s been without key players.
September 28th, 2018 at 9:59 am
He’s a future Hall of Famer. Mark my words.

The apology for hitting ben was bad enough, but sitting in the sideline down by 20 and hes talk in ng about having fun?! No killer instinct in this guy.

September 28th, 2018 at 10:12 am
I can’t remember where I read it but it seems McCoy injured his bicep early in the game Monday Night and now has been limited in practice this week. McCoy is a good player who eats up blockers. A lot of those Kwon tackles are due to McCoy. I don’t understand the constant ragging on him. He is an asset not a liability. Yes I know he’s not Sapp. He’s still a very good player who plays a lot.
September 28th, 2018 at 10:16 am
“The apology for hitting ben was bad enough, but sitting in the sideline down by 20 and hes talk in ng about having fun?! No killer instinct in this guy.”
———
You’re either really stupid, or are just going to hate on him regardless. They are playing a game. It’s supposed to be fun!!! How you draw the correlation between having fun and wanting to lose I will never understand. Nor do I want to. But I’m sure your athletic achievements allow you to criticize. You probably still have that YMCA trophy on your mantle.
September 28th, 2018 at 10:17 am
Dapostman, he isnt doing this for free he gets paid like a middle ages king to “have fun” and of course lose and be a leader of the NFLs worst defense almost every year except when schiano was running the team and gmc and lvd were playing like all pros
September 28th, 2018 at 10:18 am
Dapostman….I don’t understand the constant ragging either.
Yet there’s so many of them….
September 28th, 2018 at 10:21 am
you idiots that never played a down of football or were benchwarmers can say what you want about McCoy but the pros that play or played the game have nothing but respect for the man
September 28th, 2018 at 10:45 am
Continues to amaze me that so many JBFers who make excuse after excuse for Jameis grabbing a total stranger by the crotch then lying to his team about it are so often the same JBFers who whine about GMC apologizing for what he thought was a late hit. Take GMC out of the lineup tonight and see what happens. Some make-believe Buc fans can’t see past the end of their nose.
September 28th, 2018 at 10:58 am
McCoy makes pee wee Herman look like a body building stud!! He is so soft he makes a 98 lb pansy working in a flower shop who drinks a frothy late with skim milk and a dollop of whipped cream look masculine. I know that won’t go over well with a lot of you millennials but you know what???? I don’t give a F…!
September 28th, 2018 at 11:08 am
I wish we had Donald instead of McSoft.
September 28th, 2018 at 11:12 am
Defense Rules
With or without McCoy on the field the defense has been horrible his entire career. This team will excel on defense once the soft one is gone. He simply is a soft, me first locker room cancer that does not play with heart or intensity. Every year you people make excuse after excuse for this pathetic bum yet every year he is average to below average against the pass and down right embarrassing against the run.
September 28th, 2018 at 11:13 am
Lakeland- good post. Nobody cares about yards anymore. This offenses in this league has become almost impossible to stop within the 20’s. It’s really about point differential at the end of the day.
September 28th, 2018 at 11:19 am
D r
You are down right delusional take mccoy out and the defense will play harder and faster. In addition they wont have to compensate for her horrendous play against the run. When that career loser is on the field he hurts his team. A decade of embarrassing defense led by none other than captain blowout the undisputed face of the basement years.

He’s a future Hall of Famer. Mark my words.
You might be right since the hall of mediocrity lost all credibility with the enshrinement of unqualified dungy the clown and his pathetic post season record. Hall is meaningless now. Hall is almost as hilarious bucs ring of underachievement
September 28th, 2018 at 11:27 am
I’m not about see GMC micd up before I go to work. No way man. I need my energy
September 28th, 2018 at 11:46 am
Love seeing the McCoy apologists out in full force this morning. Pretending like anyone of us playing football has any bearing on how soft McCoy is. Take him off the defense and what do you lose? 5 sacks at best maybe. You all love him for things he did three years ago. You all want to blame jameis for offensive woes, but continue to baby a cog in our league worst defense the last 4 years!
September 28th, 2018 at 12:01 pm
The NFL’s Dwight Howard. Loads of talent, no killer instinct.

Every week:
One sack
One injury
One return to the game so he can show he played hurt?
Repeat…

bradentucky excellent compariosn
September 28th, 2018 at 12:57 pm
Did this MF just say “I learned from the best.” No the F you didn’t. QB Killa would never act like a BISH on the field apologizing and saying oh no matter what happens it’s all about having fun. WTF! You want to have fun MF go play in the XFL. Aunt Geraldine does it again.
September 28th, 2018 at 1:09 pm
Cgmaster- How many times does a DT touch the ball while on the field? No ONE player has more effect on a game than the QB. That’s fact.
Also, please feel free to list all those Pro Bowl caliber DBs covering the WRs who are racking up all that yardage. I suppose getting rid of GMC will rectify THAT situation too?!
Apology accepted! LOL!
September 28th, 2018 at 1:12 pm
Reality-is-a-Beotch … “DR, you are down right delusional take mccoy out and the defense will play harder and faster. In addition they wont have to compensate for her horrendous play against the run. When that career loser is on the field he hurts his team.”
I like the word ‘delusional’. Something tells me you’ve heard it many times. The active DTs for the Bears game will most like be GMC (300 lbs), Jerel Worth (298 lbs) and Will Gholston (281 lbs). So yes, take GMC out of there by all means Beotch, then let’s watch 2 lightweights play the entire game in the trenches and try to stop the Bears rushing attack. Wow, that’s brilliant … Nothing delusional about that (do I have to explain sarcasm to you in addition to what delusional means BTW Beotch?)
September 28th, 2018 at 1:18 pm
RiaB/tmax- How did I know you would be lurking after a loss?!!! What’s good my friend?!
September 28th, 2018 at 1:22 pm
Joe WHY do you love McCoy so much
Many on your site say he is good just not elite 100 million dollar man
McCoy does not come up with the game changing plays like a Sapp or other elites
He can hug everyone before and after the game and make tea for everyone I don’t care BUT during the GAME make the plays
Elite player would have made the sack that’s what elite players do
September 28th, 2018 at 1:24 pm
I really don’t get the haters out there. The guy is pretty damn good.
So he’s nice, who the hell cares. Brooks was nice, he wasn’t talking trash. Reggie White was nice, he did OK for himself.
September 28th, 2018 at 1:49 pm
Being nice means nothing to me but making plays when it matters most does. The issue with McCoy in my eyes is when the moment gets big he, more times than not, shrinks. Look at last night for example the Vikings had the ball with a chance to tie the game with just over 2:00 minutes to go. On the first flipping play of the drive Aaron Donald gets doubled teamed and he goes right around them to start off that HUGE drive with a sack and loss of 8. That is a big play, that is a huge play not please tell us the last time (ever?) that McCoy has made a play like that? And no I am not talking about tipping a ball at the line or getting a coverage pressure where he is holding onto Matt Ryan’s foot for dear life. I am talking about a play of domination where he just comes out and destroys the team across from him when its go time. And yes that is what we expect when you are the highest paid defensive player on the team and the 2nd highest overall, we actually expect you to dominate at least once EVER!!!!
I have seen Evans make huge critical plays, I have seen Kwon make huge critical plays (strip in Atlanta anyone?), I have seen Brate make huge plays, I have seen Jameis make huge critical plays (run for 19 vs Altanta when the game was basically over but we win as one example) But I cant think of anytime McCoy has ever really dominated at a moment when we need him the most.
September 28th, 2018 at 1:52 pm
McCoy is a force. Just wait till Vee gets in their.
September 28th, 2018 at 2:09 pm
@Ndog,
Aaron Donald was not double teamed on that sack. He lineup up on the guards outside shoulder. The DE lined up over the OT’s outside shoulder. There was no TE on that side and the RB was also on the other side. The center had no chance to help when Donald beat the guard on the outside. I guess tipping a pass at the line of scrimmage isn’t a big play in your mind but I’d disagree since it just happened to the Bucs and cost them at least 3 points.
September 28th, 2018 at 2:25 pm
Bucs fan man , That’s the irritation , Gerald has the physical talent to be Generational but the circus between the ears is what’s frustrating ………..
September 28th, 2018 at 2:28 pm
Well I guess he is generational just not for what an NFL team needs . Just SHUT UP and make a PLAY Gerald
September 28th, 2018 at 2:36 pm
@ndog … “The issue with McCoy in my eyes is when the moment gets big he, more times than not, shrinks.” Interesting perspective ndog, but I prefer to look at it like one play is essentially as big as another play. You don’t lose a game in the 4th quarter IMO; every point given up counts just as much as every other point. And every point NOT surrendered is equally as important as every point our team scores. If our QB turns the ball over in our end of the field & our defense holds the opponent to a FG on the short field (instead of giving up a TD), they just SAVED 4 points (and maybe 5 pts).
If playing Fitz in these first 3 games has shown Bucs fans anything, it should be that it’s MUCH BETTER to play from ahead than to play from behind (like we did in so many games last year). IT’S ALL ABOUT POINTS SCORED … GET AHEAD, STAY AHEAD, WIN THE GAME. Duh!
September 28th, 2018 at 2:47 pm
Dave your right
McCoy is pretty good
Actually I would say very good
But he is not the All Elite player made out to be on here
September 28th, 2018 at 8:30 pm
Why do you “fans” take the bait and take pot shots at someone on the team who is gonna be on the team? Someone who goes hard in practice and the games. You’re soft, because you don’t have the mental toughness To restrain from biting your own. At the slightest opportunity. On Queue. You sound like Carolina or Saints fans. Queue the “we have a right…” comments. It’s still wrong. Sad. Go Bucs!
