Vita Vea, Beau Allen Out Monday

September 22nd, 2018

Two players ruled out.

Bucs first-round draft pick Vita Vea will not make his NFL debut Monday night per the just-released, final injury report for the Bucs’ Monday night game with the Steelers.

Vea was limited in practice today as he is trying to recover from his calf injury that sidelined him early in training camp and has been ruled out.

Also not dressing for the Bucs Monday night is defensive tackle Beau Allen with a foot injury. He did not practice at all today, same for newcomer cornerback Marcus Williams (hamstring).

Brent Grimes and Chris Conte, who both fully participated in practice today, are listed as questionable. Grimes and Conte are trying to bounce back from a groin and knee injury, respectfully. Grimes was at “full participation” all week while Conte was limited Thursday and Friday.

    Vea is a a shocker!

  2. DB55 Says:

Vea was limited in practice today as ….it is HOT as he11 outside. Homie needs a chryo chamber on the sidelines. No worries Jan will be here soon enough. Hopefully 60 degree is cold enough. Oh wait, maybe we should trade him to the lightening.

  3. Ryan McGregor Says:

Well the right side of the Steelers OL as well as their starting safety has been ruled out too

  4. BigPoppaBuc Says:

I think Whitehead showed enough last week to get more snaps. Conte brings a lot of experience but I just feel like Whitehead has more big play potential.

DeCastro and Gilbert listed as “doubtful,” not “out” per the Steelers injury report.

Per the Steelers injury report, no player is listed as “out.”

Glazers have gotten taken the the cleaners with both Vea and Jones what a joke!!

First, we have yet to see what we have in either player. Injuries happen. Slow development happens, especially with running backs under Koetter.

Second, rookie contracts are not usually “taken to the cleaners” qualifying.

Patience. Neither one of them has humped a palm tree yet.

  10. SchwiftyBuc Says:

They are literally only sitting him because of rust which I find to be dumb. Especially with Allen Injured.

  11. R.O. Says:

I don’t think it’s a shocker. It’s a short week to prepare for a road game in Chicago. I bet both Vea and Allen will be ready to go next Sunday. Then it’s the bye week and the get 2 weeks off.

  12. Joe Says:

Actually pretty smart. If he isn’t ready to go, he isn’t ready to go. No need to Pearl Harbor the kid’s season (or career) to try to prove a point. It’s a long season. Bucs are going to need the guy down the road too.

Always thought it was a stretch to expect the guy to be game-ready in five days after missing damn near two months of practice.

  13. Nprbuc Says:

Love it Lucious! Hard to get that vision out of your mind. Lol. Also agree with you totally on the rookies. It would have been nice to have sign and play guys but stuff happens. I won’t make a call on these kids until they get on the field of play and show what they have or don’t have. Awful early to flush them.

  14. JimmyJack Says:

Schwifty…..you might be right but they could also be sitting him because he is not 💯. As R.O. stated they will also be entering a short week so playing Vita on Monday compounds the chances of reagravating his injury

But it’s a dam shame we are missing two bodies on our interior. The Steelers interior is banged up good right now……..that being said Gholston has looked nice so far, we need him to show up in a big way to earn his keep.

There is definitely a red flag with Jones. He didn’t look anything special in training camp and clearly did nothing in preseason. Shaun Wilson played behind backup offensive linemen too and he produced so Joe’s not buying that excuse. Yeah, it makes all the sense in the world he had lousy blocking but what about Wilson? Didn’t see/hear anyone crying for his gaining production behind a bunch of tomato cans.

A healthy second-round pick being inactive for first two games when an undrafted free agent at the same position has gotten into games is a red flag.

LOL. Brain bleach. I’m just afraid of the possible side-effects.

rojo sucks and big boy can not handle the heat, plain and simple, that’s why they had him drop 15 pounds, he keeps loosing weight and soon he’s going to be making hula burgers at jimmy johns he’ll be freaky fast with a fat wallet

  18. unbelievable Says:

Not sure why anyone would have expected Vea to play on Monday when he’s only practiced 2 times since July…

  19. Architek Says:

Be patient guys Vea is coming – all teams are dealing with injuries; just the nature of the business!

  20. Buccfan37 Says:

Who knew Vita could not handle the heat plus humidity of a Florida summer when he was drafted. I don’t recall that ever being the case for another player so maybe it’s just BS and fans just have to wait and see. Yeah I’ll go with that being reality.

  21. Destinjohnny Says:

We passed on some ballers to take vea
    Let’s hope he can play

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Could the Bucs be tanking game three to justify putting Winston in for game 4?

Actually, it’s happened many times. There was this big line guy we brought into camp years ago. A rookie fans thought would be like a brick wall. He couldn’t take the heat and got cut.

However, it could is pure fan assumption about Vea.

  24. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

@ Buc Believer – “Glazers have gotten taken the cleaners with both Vea and Jones what a joke!!”

Yes, a lot can be said about Jones, but come on – you can’t judge a player because he is injured and yet has had time to prove himself.

  25. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

We have several healthy Dlinemen so I don’t think there is a rush to insert Vea. Just have to look at Spence sitting out last week to see that we are stacked. If I took a guess, we will not see him until after the bye week.

  26. Dom is gone Says:

Our 2nd round RB can’t see the field and Denver’s undrafted RB top 5 in rushing so far ??????

  27. BucNut33 Says:

DERWIN JAMES was available for the taking and he’s proven to thrive in Florida humidity. Will Vea ever be able to handle playing outside of the indoor facility? Maybe it’s time to invest in an indoor stadium if we continue investing in players of this fabric.

  28. Defense Rules Says:

@Bonzai … “Could the Bucs be tanking game three to justify putting Winston in for game 4?” Started drinking early today, eh Bonzai? Do you in any way, shape or form believe what you just wrote? Lordy I hope not.

@Joe … “A healthy second-round pick being inactive for first two games when an undrafted free agent at the same position has gotten into games is a red flag.” RoJo’s only real problem is that he was drafted in the 2nd round. I think the Bucs’ history with 2nd rounders jinxed him. It’s a shame the NFL doesn’t offer Mulligans … he’d probably be doing fine now if we’d drafted him in the 4th round where we should’ve.

  29. INSPIRED Says:

Guys, GET REAL! Vea had NO ISSUE with the heat in underwear football AT ALL! Maybe, just Maybe he actually got injured and it’s a bad idea to rush him out there at this time due to that FACT! Just maybe. JUST SAYIN!!! GO BUCS!!!!

  30. dont assume Says:

Welp this game just got a lot tougher.

  31. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Unbelievable, my thoughts exactly on Vea. If he was a vet, he might play, but no way a rookie with no training camp comes in to play his first week back.

  32. IE Buc Says:

Let’s also not forget how we passed up Derwin James who is an absolute star in the making right now for the Chargers. He’s lining up everywhere in the backfield and in the last 2 games, only has 2 sacks, 6 QB pressures, 10 tackles, and 3 passes defended.

  33. RODNEY J ALLEN Says:

Wow some of y’all just have to have something to biatch n complain about SMMFH
