Inside Jameis Winston’s Tailored Suspension Plan

The Buccaneers made select assistant coaches available to media yesterday and Joe got 1-on-1 time with QB coach Mike Bajakian.
Of course, the subject of America’s Quarterback arose.
Joe’s primary interest was the plans of Jameis Winston during his suspension that ends September 25.
There were questions for which Bajakian would not provide an answer, or said he didn’t have an answer. Ok. Joe gets how the paranoia in the coaching circuit is alive and well. But Bajakian did explain that a focus for Jameis will be on adhering to a clear volume of throws and maintaining a throwing schedule that mirrors the Buccaneers’ work without him.
In simple terms, Jameis won’t loosely go out for throwing sessions on a Friday morning and then gather his unemployed-receiver friends for a double session on Saturday evening before he hits the couch for a day off watching football on Sunday. The understanding is that Jameis, for example, will throw heavily on Wednesday and Thursday — normal practice days for the Bucs — followed by tapered work before going strong again on Sunday (a typical game day).
The concept is simple: stay on the NFL schedule as much as possible.
Bajakian called Jameis “a worker” and said he’s confident Jameis will put in the time. The keys are “a volume of throwing so that the arm stays in shape” and his feet don’t get rusty
“The most important thing is just staying crisp, staying engaged with the different types of throws and different types of drops and the footwork aspect of it that can come up in a game,” Bajakian said.
Joe sure hopes Jameis has already started working with Bernard Reedy, Donteea Dye and Louis Murphy, and even drags Vincent Jackson out of his restaurants for a couple of workouts. Throwing to guys who know the Bucs’ offense should give Jameis a leg up.

One thing that and maybe the only thing that gives me hope regarding the bucs is Jameis and his work ethic have ZERO doubt that he will be working out and not lounging around, that definitely could not be stated for other members of the bucs but jameis loves the game and wants to win to bad not to let his team down on the field due his lack of preperation

This comforts me because if I had any worries about JW’s workouts during his three week absence it wasn’t that he would not get in his work.
My fear would be that he would over work his shoulder and perhaps deaden his arm for later in the season. Sounds good to me that Bajakian and Moncken/Koetter have given Jameis a clear idea of how much to work.
I can understand Bajakian’s hesitancy to respond. We realize there can be no contact with ANYBODY in the NFL for Jameis during his absence. What I’m uncertain about is what the team was able to share with him BEFORE he left OBP.
E.G. Were they permitted to give him specific workout instructions? Tell him their plans for the team while he was gone? No contact during the suspension…yeah…but if they loaded him up with a practice schedule, workout schedule and an idea of what they’d be working on BEFORE he left is that illegal?

I, and others, have been critical of Jameis, (for good reasons) but I haven’t given up on him and hope and expect that he turns it around; namely grows up and this suspension may go a long way in doing just that!

who cares, i do and for a small fee, like 10 grand i’ll hook up my 55 year old ass up with copd that can run a 15.5 / 40 with hands like bricks as long as i get my smoke breaks and chicken wings with jameis and catch a couple and drop a hundred, i should be ok as long as i have my enebalizer and rescue inhaler, in the eavning i will mentor the young man about the virtues of clean living over an 18 pack of busch beer and a dvd of showgirls, i promise to keep him on a nutritional diet for the next month nothing like buscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast with eggs over easy light bread toast, and a slab of bacon to get ya started, probably bring in one dem stripper girls in dem tight spandex to help keep the lad stretched out properly, yeah we’ll keep him going rock on jameis, and go bucs

No concern with Winston staying ready….there’s never been his issue. Whether its week 4 or after the bye, concern remains on if he understands the critical importance of not giving away field position and points trying to force things…..That’s his last hurdle…at least on the field.

I don’t understand why guys have to bring politics into a sports site continuously. Name calling gets a little crazy too. Keyboard warriors unite. I totally get the criticism of players, coaches, gms. That’s legit and for this team’s past, we’ll earned. I’ve been on GMC, but I’ve laid off because I can see from the preseason that he’s balling and giving good effort. Would it make sense to at least see the team play a game or two before we condemn them all? Same with Jameis, wouldn’t it make sense to see him play a game first? Jameis is suspended yes, but Goodell clearly stuck it to the Bucs by not getting this done last season when a suspension would have hurt Jameis more than the team. There is clearly a double standard in the NFL In regards to player discipline.

You know Bonzai you’re right, it all started when people make personal attacks against players and coaches up here but these same ‘right’ minded people cannot handle personal attacks against them. It happened with Raheem then Lovie now Jameis. Its always the same kind. Even though he is a pain in everyone’s side reality, maxis alter ego attacks everybody doesn’t matter what color but alot of these other guys seem to have an agenda that goes beyond football or right and wrong but of course they won’t admit it.
On a football level I feel the same way you do, I believe Jameis will come back and light it up then I wanna see what these people say then.
