Evans, Koetter Say Jameis Absence Was Felt Today
September 3rd, 2018While the suspension of Jameis Winston started Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t really felt until the team reported for practice today.
Joe asked Dirk Koetter today if it felt “weird” around headquarters without America’s Quarterback.
“It was a little bit. You know, I think I noticed it the most when I walked in the quarterback room, when we broke down for individual meetings and went in the quarterback room,” Koetter said.
“I mean, it’s been a long time since Jameis hasn’t been camped out up in the front row next to his computer. It was a little bit strange but we knew this was coming and now we just got to do it.”
Mike Evans added that he was taken back when he pulled in to One Buc Palace today and Jameis’ vehicle (courtesy of Joe’s friends at Bill Currie Ford) wasn’t there. Evans said the realization really hit him then since they usually park next to each other.
“I forgot that he was going to be gone,” Evans said.

of course, he was missed today outside of Warren Sapp – Jameis Winston is the most important buccaneer of all time and it’s not even close. the ring of underachievement is cute and filled with players that tried real hard.

Damn…that’s kinda sad, but good to know he’s that important to them. They were more talking about his presence in general over his presence on the field, which says a whole lot about what he means to the team. I think this should impact Jameis more than anything else. If he messes up after knowing this is what his absence makes people feel just from a human stand point, then there really is no hope for him. Luckily for us I think this is exactly the kind of stuff that resonates with Jameis, he doesnt like letting his teammates down.

anyone know if he can have contact with his teammates away from work or is that forbidden as well?
September 3rd, 2018 at 2:23 pm
Kelley
As long as he keeps it above the waist….
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
September 3rd, 2018 at 2:31 pm
I don’t know how the league can prevent them from having contact while they are not working.

“Ive heard that to keep the “brothers keeper” spirit, JW3 will be wearing his full uniform gear (helmet, pads, jock strap) on sunday while the team plays in new orleans. Keep a lookout at the nearby Wawa when he gets his coffee sunday morning in full pewter”

This loser has let everyone down. I hope he gets some psychiatric help for his Bipolar narcissistic low IQ womanizing -ss. I met they tried to trade him but no one wanted him.
September 3rd, 2018 at 2:46 pm
it was my understanding from every site i have been on and read about the suspension, is jameis can have no contact at all with anyone affiliated with the bucs organization from the owner to the equipment manager, to the people making lunch in the building, that means none, if he tries to be slick and get around it and gets popped he could be looking at a year off, and we will probably be looking at a new face of the franchise come april, so to all you players who are armchair attorney’s and masterminds on the bucs, if you read this please do not f this up by trying to be cute and work in the grey areas most of us want our QB back, and like everything else this too will pass

Absolutely 100 percent correct.

Would have to put Lee Roy Selmon in that group. Dude was unstoppable. Take him off of those early Bucs teams not sure they ever would have made the playoffs.

Amen, Joe regarding LeeRoy Selmon (RIP). 24K gold human being, too. Hope this break wises Fameis up. Plus, isn’t he a new dad? That should help in maturing him!

agree on leroy the rest were just coat tail riders on the sapp train. it’s a shame they had a head coach who held them back so much. very sad that they only accomplished 5 playoff victories in their buc careers.

Its the hypocrisy of team shut up and dribble.

You apparently forgot about Brooks! What has Jameis done to be so important anyway? Best thing Winston has ever done was get us to 9-7, a record not even worthy enough of earning a playoff birth. You speak of underachievers, Winston has been near the top of that list so far. Sorry if that hurts your feelings FSU fans…
September 3rd, 2018 at 3:45 pm
Correction all- Winston will be the most important BUST in Bucs history!

This is just the final chapter in the maturation of Jameis Winston.
Again….he’s never had the world crash on him like it has this time. I’m sure it’s been a very painful lesson. It literally could be the difference in an HOF career and a Jeff George career.
If pre season was any indication JW has learned a giant lesson. I won’t say “finally learned” because outside of bad PR he received, his prior transgressions didn’t really cost him anything. #1 draft pick? A mild conversation about that but he pretty much was a slam dunk even with MM…that’s the closest he’s come…oh forgot Jimbo did suspend him for what…a half?
IMHO this has truly hurt JW. I believe he loves football and his teammates…losing these three games with his brothers is probably the most painful thing that has ever happened to him.
But I’m Mr. Positive….The darkest hour is before the dawn and when the sun returns to JW’s life in a few more weeks it’s going to light the way for an amazing season. Ultimately I believe this is going to be good for #3.

This will be my last comment on Jameis. When he comes back he will need to play some really high standard football. It could be his final audition with this regime.
September 3rd, 2018 at 5:44 pm
I am confident Jameis will be great when he returns. Anything that pisses off walter and godeep is fine by me. Adversity builds character and creates a bond. I believe this suspension is a turning point for this franchise. Go Jameis and go Bucs.

spbf…I read part of your post before scrolling down to comment on it…it’s kind of what I was telling my wife verbatim just last night.
This is part of him (immature) growing up…but I actually think when he comes back is when our fans are going to see the QB that’s going to be a Buc for the next maybe 10 years.
Crystal ball that I borrowed from some JBF poster awhile back….
I see him coming out with his hair on fire and a BIG chip on his shoulder. I see him taking things over this season and beyond.

no sapp – no brooks. simple as that. sapp made brooks. he is average without sapp in front of him…. again no one confuses popularity with greatness more than bucfan. outside of sapp and selmon not a single player could make another teams ring of honor not even cleveland browns. like everything buc related the standards are set very very low.
September 3rd, 2018 at 6:58 pm
reality beotch
Dude you’ve left the realm of reality into sheer fantasy.
It wasn’t Buc fans who voted Brooks into the HOF. Please…I realize you like to consider yourself the unspoiled arbiter of all that is true but that’s such a load I couldn’t let it slip by….
And so is it your contention that “Bucfan” is the reason Brooks is in the HOF?
September 3rd, 2018 at 7:02 pm
I fear after this Sunday we are all going to miss Mr. Winston, badly.
September 3rd, 2018 at 7:19 pm
@Eric: how did JW do last year in NOLA. I was there and it was embarrassing.
September 3rd, 2018 at 10:23 pm
reality just verified his pure idiot status not that it needed any further proof. JBF just wouldnt be the same without the bitter trolls i guess.
