Joe can smell the scent of real football. We’re inside the 20-day mark, which means Joe’s eyes have turned to the Saints in great detail.
Every day leading up to the opener in New Orleans on Sept. 9, Joe will offer up an interesting Saints nugget.

So Joe sat down to watch the Saints-Cardinals preseason game on NFL Game Pass last night only to find that Drew Brees did not play — and he’s not hurt … and he hasn’t played all preseason.
Beastly Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Jordan also got the night off. Keep in mind the Bucs’ first team defense played nearly all of the first half on Saturday against the Titans.
There are so many ways to prepare a team for opening day. Keep in mind the Saints are on a four-game, opening-day losing streak — and a three-game skid in home openers — so it’s not like New Orleans head coach Sean Payton has some sort of magic formula. The Bucs are 2-0 in season openers for Dirk Koetter.
Rookie DE Marcus Davenport, the Saints’ first-round pick, remains in street clothes injured, as is DE Alex Okafor. Both were coveted by many Bucs fans this offseason. Guard Landon Turner, TE Michael Hoomanawanui and CB P.J. Williams also skipped the game.

I don’t know why but that picture is making me laugh, it’s like Freeman is saying if i was in jail i’d pick you to be my cellmate , lol. Brees face is like “oh Please let go of me!” hahaha. Makes you realize how small and also what a baller Brees really is for his size.

Hey Joe. “The scent of real football”….. but can you taste a W? I have been at every Bucs game in NOLA for the past 20 years but after last year’s exhibition I have thrown in the towel. I just hope we don’t get trounced again.

If Fitz throws like he has been in preseason he might have another 6 interception game like he did with the jets in 2016……last time he played a full season. 12 tds 17 ints.

@Joe … “Keep in mind the Saints are on a four-game, opening-day losing streak — and a three-game skid in home openers.” Stuff that happened 4 years ago isn’t a useful predictor of how the 2018 home opener will turn out Joe. But things like Davenport & Okafor being injured, plus Ingram being suspended are. Of course, the Saints are probably thinking exactly the same thing about the Bucs … several key guys injured, Winston on suspension, etc. Personally think that game will come down to which defense performs the best, and I’ll put my money on the Bucs’ defense PROVIDING we get healthy & get past this injury bug.

Drew Brees doesn’t just look short…he IS short. He’s listed generously as 6-0.
I’m 5-11 1/2 and always lied and said I was six feet tall. LOL
I thought what’s the big deal about lying about a 1/2″…guess it depends on which part of your anatomy you’re lying about before a half inch really is important.
Russell Wilson is 5-11…the shortest good QB playing right now…IF Brees is really six feet.

I’ve been saying it since I first saw this year’s schedule….we should win that first game against the Aint’s …..they won’t be ready for this year’s Bucs.
