“We Might Have To Adjust The Playcalling Accordingly”
August 6th, 2018It seems the Bucs offense might have to get into a bit of a survival mode for Thursday night’s game.
Sadly, the reason revolves around injuries on the offensive line.
The Bucs are battered, from Demar Dotson working his knee all the way back to health, to his backup Leonard Wester being out for a while, to projected starting right guard Caleb Benenoch not practicing.
Before opening week of the regular season, the Bucs don’t have to release an injury report, per NFL rules, so details are slim.
But with Koetter talking about guys like Cole Gardner and Brad Seaton logging a huge share of work Thursday, Joe has QB-longevity concerns and it seems Koetter does, too.
“We might have to adjust the playcalling accordingly,” Koetter said when asked about how the O-line health could affect the preseason opener in Miami in three days. “We’ve just gotten hit hard in that spot.
Robert Quinn and Cameron Wake will start off the defensive line edges for Miami.
As with every preseason game, the goal is to get off the field healthy, quarterbacks especially.

We cut Sweezy and saved 6.5 mil…..some of that should be spent on the Oline…..there is still time…but we are thin…

So… full price tickets for a game where even backups won’t be able to run the entire playbook. This is why I gave up season tickets.
Not because we were terrible for years.
Not because Chucky left.
Not because they needed to blast bad music snippets at the crowd between plays like we all had ADHD and couldn’t stand to just watch a damn game.
Not because they needed to blast video ads at us even louder.
Not the inexplicable addition of college-style male cheerleaders.
Not overpriced parking, food, drinks, water…
Not because we’d sit in 90 degree heat while a TV timeout dragged on…
Those were all close seconds…
But more than anything, preseason tickets at full price as a condition of season tickets…. that was it for me. I’ll get through this televised open tryout in 15 minutes on my DVR, thanks.

Sounds like Cappa and the 2 Coles might see significant game action.
That could be a good thing to get these guys some much needed NFL live game experiences. Unless its gets a QB hurt – then that would obviously be BAD – LOL

I got no problems at all if we are looking at Evan Smith starting in Sept. Doubt he geys many snaps Thurs. Ill be curious to see who plays RT amd how they perform. We all know how bad it can get with a weakness at that spot.

Preseason Play = Regular Season Play. HERE WE GO!

Unleash Rojo and the TE’s Godwin 3 step drops I’m not worried at all

This was my concern when all anyone wanted to talk about was Qb camp reps. Even before injuries on the OL the problem will be protecting Jameis and Ryan G. . You can’t have your 1st string OL play all game for the entire preseason. That’s exactly how Ryan G. got injured last year and can’t happen again to him or Jameis.
I predict no 7 step drops and lots of runs in the 2nd half this preseason.

I’m really not as concerned. It’s the first preseason game. Starts usually only play 1 or 2 series and then these guys would have been logging lots of snaps. So first team should just work on the running games that needed so much help last year, then business as usual the rest of the way.

In all seriousness, it baffles me to this day that anyone would pay for preseason tix. I know they come as part of your season tix which is one of the reasons I gave mine up. Funny, I see a lot of comments about the size of the new Rays stadium. In my opinion, they are dead on. People will no longer sit it the elements and accept mediocrity nor should they. TV makes the game much more enjoyable.

Necessity is the mother of invention… so you better draw up some good plays coach and don’t get our QB’s killed.
August 6th, 2018 at 3:56 pm
How about our QBs try getting into form and ending this slow starting slump the team has been in for years.
Healthy and unprepared isn’t always best

Go figure. Robert Quinn first game against a beat up line.

View from 132, male cheerleaders, really? Are they on the sidelines cheering throughout the game with the ladies or are you talking about the dudes who run out with the flags?
Do you know who hangs out with the lady cheerleaders more than anybody else? The Male cheerleaders! I’m not mad at them, I just pay them no attention.
I appreciate your summary as well and the NFL owners must be aware of this but, as we all know, television butter’s their bread! So they don’t care about the fans, really!

This could be a great learning opportunity for the suspended QB. Let him take a couple of hard hits…. discipline.

thought the coaching staff was good with Cole Gardner at RT if need be. . . but hoping Dot can give us one more season

BringBucsBack… I don’t really care either. If they want to pay a couple of dudes to flip around for those interested, whatever. I was on a roll.
We can all agree on the cheerleader “Mrs. Claus” outfits for December home games, I’m sure.

Cappa would already be prepared to play Thursday if Warhop had not insisted on his learning to play Center first, when they already have Evan Smith as Jensen’s backup. However I am glad he will pick up game experience this early and I am not worrying about his ability to pass block since he was a LT in college. It is different trying to adjust to run blocking from a Guard position. It happens faster than from the Tackle position. So don’t get upset if the Bucs have problems running to the right against Miami. With Marpet at LG and Jensen at Center they should at least be able to run left. When Benenoch and Dotson are 100 percent it should be a different story in the regular season.
August 7th, 2018 at 10:44 am
Hopefully, Cappa will ask Marpet who knows best how to play RG to give him pointers to help him. Since Marpet had to adjust to NFL competition from playing for Hobart he should be willing to help Cappa.

I know Iam late, but I have to comment here.
Adjusting anything to the circumstances would be a completely new approach. Do you think this trend might even continue to adjustments during halftime?
