Preparing For Training Camp

July 21st, 2018

Wants to hit.

As we all know by now, NFL training camps are a shell of what they once were.

Former Bucs coach Ray Perkins had three-a-day practices in training camp. LaDainian Tomlinson once said with Marty Schottenheimer as Chargers coach, he had full-padded practices twice a day for the first 14 days of camp.

One Bucs player who can’t wait to hit is linebacker Cameron Lynch. He dropped in on the set of NFL Network’s “Total Access” this week and spoke with Willie McGinest and Tomlinson to discuss what Bucs fans may expect with training camp set to begin Thursday.

Asked what he was looking forward to, Lynch beamed he couldn’t wait to do one-on-one pass rush drills.

“Pass rush is going to be sweet, man,” Lynch said.

That’s good to hear, but Joe is just numb to all the talk. As bad as this Cleveland South franchise has been in the post-Chucky era, Joe is in a Show Me State of mind.

I’m deaf to talk now, and I’m not thirsty for kool-aid. This year will be very interesting fo sho.

    Will Beckwith return to form?

Will Kwon prove it in year 4?

Will Cichy make the final 53?

Will Lynch, Joe Dirt and Bond make the team?

    Crazy LB group this year.

Best group I have seen in my life as a Bucs fan. I haven’t missed a game since 1996, when I was 13 years old.

    Go Bucs!

Gee, I wonder which Joe this is?

    Lol

By game six, I predict Lee’s perspective will be much improved. 🙂

Cameron Lynch is part of the new crop that is going to help turn around the franchise. Kid is a stud.

It has been pretty impressive to watch this team groom linebackers. Even though we missed Kwon from injury our depth players gave us solid play. One of the few position groups without question marks.

That is why I got excited when we drafted a LB. He is not going to fail because of situation and surroundings. Same can be said for WR. Another position we spent a draft pick on.

Yep always whining about something with doom and gloom.

I thought they took the pin-pong table out?

  10. SB Says:

Linebackers are Crucial to a Defense. Not as crucial as a Pass Rush but next in line. WRs are just as Crucial to an offense. I think we have two of the strongest units respectively in the NFL!
    Not a bad thing!

We have JPP and Cameron Lynch is doing interviews? What has he done?

  12. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Yeah Bobby, that’s what I was thinking when I saw the video. Like, why is Cameron Lynch of all Bucs doing an interview? I like the guy but he’s not even a lock to make this roster.
Impressed that they managed to interview a Bucs without asking about Jameis Winston. Seems like the NFL and Buccaneers have agreed to try to speak about this minimally or not at all and I’m fine with that.

  13. Lamarcus Says:

Between him and Davonte Bond. Idk who is more invaluable.

  14. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

She~it the dude has 15 or 20 total tackles in his career between the Rams and the Bucs and he’s the one representing the Bucs on national tv? Whatever, I do however wish him the best in making the team. He actually has a pretty good on air presence. Maybe that was his interview for a spot on NFL Network in case the football thing doesn’t pan out

Speaking of training camp. Why the heck are we not bringing in Breeland for a visit. I think we could use a young corner with good tape. Who cares if we drafted to guys there are no guarantees. He signed earlier with carolina for 8 million a year then failed a physical for an infection on a cut in his foot. It is healed he is heathy can get him for 6 a year. Drop Robinson and sign this guy ASAP. Whenever there is a 26 year old who has tape they can play who is not commanding Day one of free agency money. Seems like a team like us should be all over that. We need all the secondary help we can get unless the team has a lot of faith in Rogers. Which I still don’t understand why we drafted the dude from North Carolina first. We could have drafted the dude from Colorado and Rogers. I haven’t heard on thing about Stewart. But have heard buzz about Rodgers. I guess time will tell but everyone thought we reached for Stewart and now you don’t hear anything about him. Sounds like a bucs move we will be getting stories the next three years that he is the X factor and this will be his coming out year. Only to quietly watch him leave and not get anything in return. But by then we will have won 2 Super Bowls so no one will care about a waisted second round pick in 2018.

Alaskan Abdominal Snowman, they actually talked Jamies at the end of total access yesterday. It was an interesting take. Maybe Joe will have that later this week

I like Lynch. He’s a good player and should make the team.

  19. DayOnePaul Says:

Gruden practically had lost the locker room before he got run.
And the players got him fired by laying down on him.
From this point, let’s refer to it as the post-Monte era.

Would not be shocked at all if someday Mark Duffner if the Bucs defensive coordinator.

  21. richbucsfan Says:

It’s hard to know which decision is the right one…to hit or not to hit. Seems like each year at training camp when there is no contact, there is a long list of injuries, the same was when they do hit. It makes you wonder if this team in shape, have they stretched, are they football ready? Clearly, if they lose key players and a couple of rookies expected to make a difference, the ship is sunk. What will the injury list look like after the first three games? Remember the Minnesota game last season?

  22. Bucballbaby84 Says:

I’m of the mindset the Bucs will be looking to shop Vernon Hargreaves before the season officially begins if he hasn’t shown he can at least handle either of the outside corner positions.

  23. TOM Says:

IMO I think the Bucs should try & trade Jackson & Gholston. I believe they are both expendible & they would save the Bucs some much needed $
