“Does Winston Understand What He’s Done Wrong?”

For years, America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, has been very quick to say that he likes being coached hard. He wants that raw and rough feedback from all his coaches.
Jameis doesn’t get offended, he says. It’s the business of football and he loves having someone riding him to get better.
But does Jameis want that from his handlers, aka his agent and the various people guiding the messages Jameis puts out in the community and how they’re perceived? Joe’s not sure.
What is clear, though, is that one could make a great case that everyone associated with Jameis has done a substandard job shaping public perception of him. They have not been talented enough to overcome a player who seems to be a magnet for the negative spotlight.
Currently, Jameis is going through the process of finding a new agent, and NFL insider Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com and NBC Sports spoke about how Jameis might want to find representation that’s willing to be very candid with Jameis about his behavior. (It’s all in the video below)
Florio seems unsure that Jameis understands the gravity of his past actions and what he must do to repair his reputation.
“That’s going to be one of the keys going forward: does Winston understand what he’s done wrong and is he committed to avoiding anything that would remotely justify the kind of criticism that he’s received over the years,” Florio said.

IMO it’s clear that Jameis IS cool with tough coaching on the field. But off the field not so much.
The saddest part of Ubergate is that it was a totally unforced error!!! How did his handlers let him get caught out at 3AM with Darby and the rapist. Where were the bodyguards to protect him. Where was the guy who could “Shelton Quarles” him and drag him back to the Limo when things were not right?
I obviously do not know…totally clueless. Did his handlers not understand Jameis? Did he ignore them?
Yeah it doesn’t really matter in the end. But in the end I echo Florio. I do not judge Jameis but I am entitled to have an informed opinion based on factual evidence. I am NOT saying anything about Jameis specifically…no name calling over he said she said allegations…but I can’t help it…I no longer trust him.

How public people embarrass themselves….. And I mean Florio! The guy hasn’t talked the podium to speak and because he’s now looking for a new agent (something we’ve known for weeks) this is the question asked and it’s based on what the drama created by his trainers t shirt. And some people just don’t understand the word hater and to the media writing stories for clicks. I had to delete their app, they’ve never written one single positive story about Winston even on field after a great game and despite what people try to say he’s had quite a few.
Whether he did it or not doesn’t matter anymore because of public perception but I’d love it if he proceed all the critics wrong just to see them flip flop and of course for wins

Winston is a grown man and is responsible for his own actions. Period.
However, if he keeps surrounding himself with “Yes” people and his criminal friends he may not get the guidance he needs.
Some people just don’t “Get It” and so far Winston has proven to be one of those people. Or he could just be so self-center, cocky and arrogant that he thinks he can just do anything he wants and get away with it. You have to remember his favorite saying – Lions are not concerned with the opinions of sheep.
If Winston hasn’t “gotten it” by now, he probably won’t ever.

It’s easy to blame Jameis’ “handlers” and enablers or to claim that he is simply an idiot (I don’t think he’s dumb). I personally believe that he may have some legit mental health issues that not only contribute to his impulsiveness, but also his unique ability to compartmentalize everything and play well while under scrutiny (think last December or the 2013 championship run). Remember that Brandon Marshall has had his share of battles with ugly allegations and mental health issues. But once he got help, he was able to have a long, successful career while also scoring some media gigs on the side. Hopefully the psyche evaluation the NFL is making him go through will shed some light on things and help him get his sh!* together.

He might have had no clue what or who the guy was, or going to be convicted of it wasn’t his friend it was Darby’s friend. We hear what you are saying. But if he messes up one more time…or is it two…or and endless number of times.
Chip it’s not about hating…in fact I feel sorry that all that hero worship and his pooop doesn’t stink adulation seem to have spoiled an otherwise nice guy.
But the bottom line is that you have FAITH in his behavior despite his resume full of numerous headline grabbing scrapes…I do not. That’s not hating..it’s not judging…it’s making an informed decision about how to proceed going forward.
Time will tell which side of this debate is correct. Right now it’s just speculation.

So do some think that somehow Jameis didn’t know well beforehand what he was doing that night, before he left his hotel, before he took his first drink, and drunk or not before he grabbed the drivers’s goods, and before he told his FIRST lie about the thing between two years ago and a just weeks ago (he may still be lying)….are some really suggesting he’s just that stupid he didn’t know?
I differ…he is well smart enough, but I am suggesting he just doesn’t care. He has lots of experience with people coming to his aid (paid or not) when he messes up, helping him get out of pinches, and him putting on a face like he cares and wants to be good. Winston is a BS artist, and some still buy the BS. THAT is ONE problem. I think he’s also well smart enough to intentionally deceive the folks that should matter most to him: his team mates, his owners, his fans…and I don’t know…probably his family. The only problem–it didn’t work this time.

Has anyone considered that he is telling his friends and teammates that he is innocent because he actually is innocent?
Do we really have to delve into the past comments to show that everyone here knew he would get suspended whether he was guilty or innocent? The NFL suspended him, and because the rule requiring him to notify the team of the incident was not yet in place, they had to say it was for the actual accusation.
The NFL reviewed everything, yet they could find no actual proof. If they had, they would not have felt the need to negotiate.
He did not lie about the number of people in the car…if it was a lie, then Darby told the lie, not Jameis. And frankly, Banks (who is facing 15 years for rape) claims there was only Jameis and Darby says all three were there. Why would Banks lie?
Because if all three were there, he was the one in the front seat, which means he is the guilty party. It would be used against him in his rape case, so he claimed he was not there. Period.
Even if it were just Jameis, that does not mean Jameis is guilty. You all say he lied. When exactly did he lie? If he really is innocent, then he has not lied.
But all of you (or most) are willing to assume the worst of him. Accusations were made, nothing was proven, and yet you all assume he is guilty.
Answer me this: does Kate have a history of making false accusations?
No one knows, because no one can investigate her because her real identity is a secret. If she really wanted to take a stand against such behavior, she would have come forward. Just what does she have to hide?
Can anyone here be honest? If Winston had not been accused of rape in college, would you be making a big deal now? If you were not FSU haters, would you?
Since the rape charge was thrown out 4 times by judges, they obviously cannot be held against Jameis.
One year ago, most of you were on his side. Since nothing has been proven, nothing about him has actually changed. Grow up, people.

One of the tough things about our QB is that(by all accounts) he does all the hard work that you need from a QB. Plus some.
He is extremely dedicated on the field. While the results haven’t always been there it seems like a matter of time when you factor in arm talent and work ethic.
We see football players overcome off field stuff every year. It’s usually the guys who show a lack of effort on the field or in practice that are the most detrimental.
None of this is going to matter if he’s lost trust from he’s locker room. It doesn’t matter what the media thinks, it don’t matter what we think or even what the owners think(to a degree). None of us can change anything on the field. What the players think means everything and if they are not behind Winston this season is only going one way. Downhill

Every year you guys cry about our schedule. Each and every year without fail.
Face it guys. It’s been over a decade and the facts are in. It hasn’t been the schedule this whole time. The Bucs have actually been bad for that long.
Maybe this year we field a good team and get us a winning record. And when that happens it won’t be about overcoming a hard schedule. It will be about the Bucs actually playing good football.

I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at this point that he has matured. He is getting married and has a kid on the way. I remember being a bit of a wild child until I got married and started a family! He seems to have straightened things out the past few years. I still have faith in him and can see him hoisting the Lombardi Trophy for his Bucs someday sooner than later.

There’s a guy who literally showed his arse to the fans yet managed to reclaim some reputation with improved behavior later in his career. That and the fact that Moss is one of…perhaps THE…greatest WR of all time. Jameis has a long way to go on the field to get that benefit of the doubt.

As a lifelong vocal supporter of Winston who has recently turned on him, I can tell you, the kid needs SERIOUS help. He has to understand that he just cannot get away with lying. He has to know who to surround himself with and who not to. He has to have a GOOD agent who knows how to promote & protect his name brand & public image. Winston really still does not get it, in my opinion. He has no idea how thin the ice is under his feet, and when it breaks, he is going to be so deep in cold water that his career will just not survive it…. he still seems like “oh it’s not a big deal and I can easily move forward from this”–YOU CAN’T JAMEIS. Not easily, it will take lifelong achievement both on and off the field.

On the field…he got ME suspended and heaven knows how long he would have been suspended had Shelton Quarles not saved his career as he headed for an official with that wild eyed out of control look.
Off the field…accused of rape…investigations and he jumps on a table and yells FHITP.
The first off season he’s out partying with questionable characters so drunk he claims he blacked out…IE he doesn’t really remember if he grabbed her or not.
Again…even if he didn’t he should NOT have placed himself in that position. Football is entertainment…it’s affected dramatically by PR…Jameis has been a true PR disaster. If anybody needs to grow up it’s not we who object to rank Forrest Gump level stupidity…it’s the idiot doing it!!!!

About 10 days after Jameis did that, Joe heard Howard Stern doing about a 40-minute bit about this (not Jameis). Apparently, it was a popular meme at the time. Stern wouldn’t know Jameis from a boat oar, but he is on top of pop culture. Am still waiting for anyone to go after Stern for that — instead, it was taken like it was supposed to be taken, a pop culture gag.
But Jameis? Folks want to drag him behind a truck for that.

According to Kate he touched, but she questioned him and he didn’t persue. So how is that like the video? I have accidently SOBER touched a male private as have a lot on here accidently “touched” private parts… the “righteous militia”!
If you keep calling a banana an apple, does it really become a banana? Keep saying rape, a bad reputation, assault. This righteous indignation I am not falling for it…a man was put in prison for mistreating dogs while children are being snatched away from their parents and being kept in cages like dogs. And that include young girls and ladies!
And we are appalled and upset at Jameis for being ACCUSED of TOUCHING a female because he owe us his life for the few dollars out of our pockets that we pay for him to ENTERTAIN US!

People either love Jameis or hate him. He’s a proven winner and a champion. Famous Jameis Winston was the right selection and is the future of the franchise. Get over it haters.

Joe, That’s because Jamies seems to lack the understanding he’s expected to fill a very special role as a community leader and a team leader ( standard setter).
Howard Stern or Bernie Mac were never going to have their face on the side of Ray Jay and people who watch or listen to them have an idea of what they’re in for and right or wrong ALL NFL quarterbacks are held to a much higher standard one Neither you nor Jamies seem to be aware of.

Ouch, little much racial overtone there on the truck dragging comment. Now, Stern is called a shock jock for a reason. His listeners tune in because they know how he is, and how he talks. Jameis was at college and being the center of attention that he likes to be and I think he’s shown to be awkward in several times trying to be the big man. People shouldn’t have made a big deal of that.
However, it’s also not something most would expect in the NFL QB that’s supposed to be the face of their franchise. He doesn’t have to be Billy Graham, but just being himself he also shouldn’t talk in a manner that people look up to seen if a bolt of lightning is coming in.
