“He’s Found A Way To Be A Player’s Coach”

When you’re new the savior/franchise rookie quarterback of a 1-8 team, the opposing team’s media wants to talk to you.
Who else would they possibly care about on the Bucs?
Per NFL protocol, the beat writers of the Bucs’ opposition get to pick the Buccaneer they want to interview via conference call on Wednesdays. Of course, Freeman was their guy yesterday.
You can read’s Freeman’s edited comments here, from the Times-Picayune. Joe thought this Freeman quote was particularly interesting:
What have you seen in the growth of Raheem Morris as a head coach?
“Coach Morris has done a good job. He demands respect from the team. The team respects him, and everybody plays hard for him. He’s found a way to be a player’s coach, but at the same time maintain the respect he has for everyone.”
It seems like Freeman entered the NFL not believing there was such a thing as a player’s coach who could be successful, especially one who throws around F-bombs and chest bumps with the fellas, often with rap music in the background.
It’s an interesting observation from a heady, conservative young kid.
Joe sincerely hopes Freeman is on the money with his latest assessment.

Way to take a quote out of context knuckle-head.
It’s a two part comment..
“He’s found a way to be a player’s coach, but at the same time maintain the respect he has for everyone.”
He speaks of the balance that Morris has found as a HC.

If you can intelligently explain how this is any way out of context, Joe will mail you a crisp $20 bill.
1) In the story here, the quote is posted in its entirety for all to read. That’s out of context? On what planet? …Also, with your name being “Half Full” why would you possibly think this post is anything twisted or negative and not speaking to the “balance Morris has found as a HC.”
2) There is nothing in this post to lead you to another conclusion.
It’s negative guys like you that make Joe wish there was more passion for all things Bucs football around these parts.

Half full, seiously why do you assume the headline contstrues anything positive or negative? …It’s simply an objective observation by a player.
Headlines in any publication are often snapshots of quotes to draw in readers.
Many headlines have an agenda or are meant to sway readers’ opinions. This one is not, and there’s nothing written here to suggest otherwise.

Half full,
“He’s found a way to be a player’s coach, but at the same time maintain the respect he has for everyone.” is a bit long for a title. He’s found a way to be a player’s coach has no connotation. The first couple paragraphs of the post set up the context of the quote. After setting up the context and then posting the quote in it’s entirety, Joe then gives his impression, which can be taken to suggest that a player’s coach is not a common path to success in the NFL.
The first half of the post is context though. How is this out of context? Should he just stop posting titles and hope articles stand on their own? Should he label it “Freeman quote” and ignore any journalistic norms?

Maybe Joe should have labeled this:
“Freeman thinks Raheem Rocks!”
“Josh jumps on the Raheem bandwagon”
“We respect Raheem as a players coach”

Mark, you are correct sir. We are going to beat the Saints. I am so happy with how Freeman is playing. As a doubter, it is great to be wrong about him so far. I think K2 & Bryant are going to light em up Sunday. We have a 1 Game Home Winning Streak and need to make it 2, LOL. Yo, Bucs !!!!!

Why do people continuously try to compare their own work situations to pro athletic jobs!?!
It is just ignorant to do that…These guys are getting paid MILLIONS of dollars to do stuff only they can do…It’s not like you can just grab a guy from anywhere to do what these guys do…There is a reason they get paid the way they do and why they are able to get away with the crap they get away with…Jack Nicholson is a prick, but he’s Jack FREAKING Nicholson!

What would you like me to compare them to? Last time I looked everyone was equal under the law and respect to another human being was universal.
Under you world view I guess it’s acceptable for people with loads of money to act however they want and that normal rules of behavior don’t apply? I don’t buy that.
BTW – Talib Aquib is a 2nd year rookie. He isn’t the best safety in the NFL. He’s a good ATHLETE but from the accounts that I’ve read (i.e., helmet wielding, cabbie punching, foul mouthed) he’s nothing more than a young punk – with lots of bucks.
One of the reasons that punks like him thrive in sports is because people don’t hold them accountable and give them a pass.
BTW if Gordon Ramsely or Emeril served me lunch and it was crap I’d be shocked but if they then started dropping the F-bomb I would pull out my phone and video their behavior and within minutes it would be on You-Tube and I can tell you there would be a public apology.
