So Joe decided to take it to the people. The question is simple; the answer is more complex. Who is the best receiver in Buccaneers history? Everyone one defines “best” differently. One Joe says it’s Mike Evans; the other Joe isn’t so quick to dismiss Joey Galloway or Keyshawn Johnson. And Kevin House and Mark Carrier were special, successful players on brutal football teams.

Whichever Joe it is that would even question Mike Evans being hands down the best Receiver in Bucs history, should be fired.

Most of the receives have a greater body of work than Evans….but nevertheless, he is clearly the best to me.

It is hands down Mike Evans, but there’s a special place in my heart for Kevin House and Jimmie Giles.

I love this question and debate.
I went with Keyshawn Johnson. The Bucs don’t win a Super Bowl without him. Right now the Bucs aren’t winning anything with Mike Evans.
I think Mike Evans is the most talented Bucs receiver of all time but most talented does not mean the best. To be the best you have to have won, and Keyshawn won.

Its hard for me to pick Evans since he’s the only one on the list still playing. I don’t like to definitively rank a player whose career is not yet all said and done. But I think you could make the case that Evans could retire and never play another down today, July 12th 2018, and still be the best receiver in franchise history. There are many receivers who would be thrilled to put up the numbers Evans recorded in his two “down” years. And in his two monster years, Evans looked elite. Hell he looked like the third best receiver in the league in 2016 behind AB and Julio. To be mentioned right behind those two is a big freaking deal.
So I will make an exception and say Evans is the best receiver in team history even though he’s still playing. Not only does that say alot about Evans, but in a way, it also says alot about the teams history regarding offensive talent.

tough call… it will be evans but not yet. I said joey bc no one else around him and no real qb. Any answer is correct except Key!!! Vjax would have been if we got him sooner and Its probably House but a different era is hard to judge.

@joe did you just see espn came out with the best wr-te-rb. They rated each team off only that. I thought for sure the bucs would be too 5. Nope they are 15. We get no love nationally. I bet 10 of the top 14 would trade there core for ours.

Sure those guys could catch, but none of them could tackle like Maurice Stovall. Defensive Special Teams was a sieve without him. On a serious note…if only Antonio Bryant could have stayed healthy…

Mark Carrier 1420 yards in season…. Evans has not done that…. 1320
Carrier 16 Yd per catch…. Evans……13.8
Carrier 78 Yd long …Evans again at 45. <<hard to believe his longest catch is only 45 yards.
Evans has him on TD 45 to 38.
Right now, Carrier is still the greatest WR in Buc history but not for too much longer in reality.

Mike Evans is good but the book is still open on him. The one receiver who sticks in my mind as a go-to every game was Vincent Jackson. In his first 3 seasons with the Bucs he posted 3 – 1000 yard seasons. Although Galloway was known for taking it to the house on any given play, Jackson was a true workhorse in 3 of his 5 seasons in Tampa.

I can buy your argument D Rome. You are giving ME the props with the ‘most talented’ label but giving Key the most props because we don’t win the SB without him.

I answered Other because I am remembering a tremendous high percentage of catches, and extremely rare to Drop a ball was Keenan McCardell…
Joey Galloway was amazing, Joe Jurevicious and Vincent Jackson were all very productive…. Naturally, we are seeing the growth of a future Hall of Fame receiver in Mike Evans…

Let me know when Evans catches a pass over 50 yards for a TD and doesn’t get caught from behind. Greatness demands big plays that change or win the game. He is a great receiver but the question was greatest all-time. Four years is not a lot of NFL time IMHO.
Evans is going to be the greatest Buc WR all-time. No doubt. There I wrote the last sentence more clearly from my previous post.
I think my definition of greatness may demand more than 4 years of service.

No, I was very clear. If I am wrong, I say so.
If you don’t think the QB position wins games, you are living in an alternate NFL universe or sleeping on Sunday. The game is about points and the QB position has the greatest ability to impact the scoring of any position on the field. The last time I checked, the great QBs of the NFL make regular appearances in the Super Bowl. I think some of the issue with Buc fans is most have never seen a great QB/WR combo up close for any length of time so the expectations are so low hence the greatness tags after 4 years. I have a hard time saying someone is the greatest when he had only 5 TDs in 2 of his first 4 seasons. This game is about TDs and scoring…wins…those are the measuring sticks. You could say Evans greatness has been held back by the inability of Winston to throw an accurate ball on a consistent basis due to the learning curve of the NFL. How many passes have we seen on the ground near Evans and missed red zone TDs over the past 4 years?

As far as I can see, the question was not ‘Who was POTIENTIALLY the best’.
Therefore, saying if such and such had a better QB doesn’t work. It was Mike Evans.
And by the way, if you are saying that, you are saying Jameis is a good QB. Thanks!

All of these men on the list are worthy of consideration however, ME 13 is so good all-around, that he made some organization believe that drafting Johnny Manziel in the first round was a sound football move?!
As others have mentioned, Morris Owens is worthy of an honorable mention after playing on some ghastly teams.
