Strong defense of America.
Some would suggest Cam Brate has gone above and beyond anyone’s wildest expectations coming from the Alabama-like football factory of the north, Harvard, and putting up numbers that are Pro Bowl worthy.
Well earlier this week, Brate appeared on “The Blitz,” co-hosted by Brady Quinn and Brian Custer (not George) heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio. Of course, Brate was asked about the three-game suspension handed down to America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, by NFL strongman Roger Goodell last week.
Brate came out swinging with a passionate defense of Jameis. Brate left no doubt, at least in his eyes, and he claimed for a lot of other Bucs players, Jameis is their quarterback.
Custer bluntly asked Brate if Jameis is “a good guy.” Brate quickly launched into a stump speech for Jameis.
“Yeah, I would say 100 percent he is,” Brate said. “There are things in the past I can’t speak of and obviously don’t know what happened, really, [like] in Arizona with this Uber incident.
“For me, all of my interactions with Jameis have been awesome. I am pretty close with him. We hang out outside of football. I truly do enjoy spending time with him. He is caring, compassionate. Kind of a guy you want to associate yourself with as far as my experiences with him.
“I can’t really speak too much to what is going on with everything else, with what else is going on with him. But that is not the Jameis I know. For me, I still love him. I think he is a great teammate. And I think I speak for a lot of guys in that locker room with that sentiment.”
Well, that is quite a statement. And given the fact it comes from a widely-respected guy like Brate adds weight.
This stuff about Jameis being cut this year is silly AF.

Unless Jameis follows his coaching from monken and Koetter he will be toast gone next year. He needs to have an awesome 13 game season with lots of tds and very few ints and fumbles otherwise he’s gone

We are now starting to see some of the PR spin and strategy the Bucs will take with Winston. Try to keep the on- field things and off-field things separated and refuse to talk about the off-field things.

Jameis would have been far better served if he had decided to party at 3AM with Brate or Mike Evans or another Buc with a good reputation.
So going forward are all of you Jameis supporters OK if he decided to go out next week drinking with Banks and Darby and getting blackout drunk in public?
Is that OK? You guys have been so focused on the “sex” you miss the real problem. Horrible judgement and lack of trustworthiness.
Do you really want a PR DISASTER as the face of the franchise? Yeah I know if he wins….he could probably shoot somebody on Dale Mabry and his folks would still love him. Some people can do no wrong. We have some prime examples in our current society starting with the most important position.

I still predict there will be no “spin” campaign from the Bucs….Licht, Koetter or Jameis….Of course, when pressed, players will comment….but the comments will all be similar…..Jameis is our QB…..Good guy, we are moving on.
As far as Brate is concerned because of the Harvard connection with Fitz, he should share some chemistry…..and algebra, economics and physics.

I’d not expect any teammate to say anything differently, and pretty much the silence from One Buc Place is deafening–it’s a good time for them to be closed (til Monday, with many taking a week of vacation next week). And they shouldn’t be commenting, especially since there is nothing good to say about Winston right now. So, that is not for Brate or anyone else to tell the media–and Brate certainly distanced himself from anything other than the minimum for which he has to be associated with Winston. Go ask folks like “Kate’s” dad, Marshon Lattimore, Matt Ryan, Archie Manning, et al what they think of Winston. It’s too bad there is such a divide among fans right now right before season start, but that’s not the fault of those with opposing views…it’s squarely on the back of Winston, who caused it all. Not a leader, not who is needed as the face of the franchise.

Rarely does a teammate throw another under the bus publicly…..Also, what is Brate going to say, if he says anything that creates more controversy, Brate could be the one sent packing. Its business and these guys have millions on the line….they will walk the company line and not risk making themselves a part of the controversy.
OR….it could be they all view what he did as not a big deal, meaning they dont really see touching another females privates as all that bad. I say the same thing every time, if it was his sister, gf, etc…..He would be Billy Bad A$$ trying to get pay backs for his loved one.

Nice to see that it’s still ‘All About Jameis’. In other news, Bucs are considering forfeiting the first 3 games of the season because Jameis has been suspended. Oh wait, my bad, that’s tomorrow’s ‘Bucs Go All In on Damage Control’ headline.
(BTW, for those JBFers who seemingly love to categorize others (^^^), creating TWO groups vis-a-vis Jameis … HATERS and non-HATERS … is really quite silly. It’s akin IMO to what seems to be becoming more prevalent in our country in recent years of categorizing those who don’t see politics our way into either extremist progressive or extremist conservative camps. In the now-famous words of Dr Phil … “How’s that working out for ya?”). It really is possible to like the person without liking certain instances of their behavior.

Too bad so many Bucs “fans” don’t have Winston’s back like his teammates obviously do.
This Ubergate incident from 2 1/2 years ago – whether Jameis did what was alleged or not – does NOT define Jameis Winston as a person. Those who choose to see Jameis as a POS because of this are simply and plainly being holier-than-thou hypocrites.
Every one of you who have been slamming and slandering Jameis the last 2 weeks from behind the safety of your anonymous keyboards has done things that were just as bad or worse at some point during your life.
Winston has made mistakes. He has had a few fairly serious errors in decision making between the ages of 18 and 22. As have we ALL.
Don’t even try to act like every single one of you hasn’t done a few stupid things in your life that would make your life very uncomfortable if the whole world knew all about it.
STOP being hypocrites and START supporting your Quarterback!

There is still no PROOF that he did anything at all, only that he was there. People here are convicting him without any evidence. He was never charged with anything, never arrested, much less convicted in any court except here. He should not have been drunk, and should never have been alone with her. At worst it was just hands, no penis, no penetration of any kind. Nothing about it was prolonged or forceful, or there WOULD have been an arrest. Drunk and stupid happens. It’s wrong, but it’s not always a jailable offense. Speculating that he’s guilty is wrong. He might not be. It’s that simple. He might not be. There also is the fact that, in the last two years and four months, no other incidents have been reported. That’s most of his adult life and a very small portion of mine. He made some mistakes. We all have. We live and learn. I hope he has a great life and a great career….as a Buccaneer.

@Pickgrin…Winston has yet to support his team….why support him after what he’s done to them, to his owners, to his fans, to his family? How many chances does he get? That said, I think the NFL as well as his team has Winston’s back. Given his character has been a question mark forever, and that’s all on him, out of their goodness, the NFL and Bucs are goingto sit him down, levy some punishment, get him some therapy (apparently), and hopefully turn him into the guy he’s pretended to be, and player and leader he himself says he wants to be. My only issue he’s used up chances for me to be willing to spend money to watch him play, and the Bucs are wasting my livlihood by keeping a lying loser like Winston as the face of our local team. Having Winston’s back doesn’t mean helping him sweep his transgressions under the rug and letting him go on as he has. I am hoping they remove his as team captain and take his image off the side of my stadium. That will really get to him and hopefully also get him to change…

Amen Pickgrin! At the end of the day judging others is exactly what we should not do for one day that could be frowned upon. Instead focus on the good in people and praying for the best. I have seen time and time again the greater good come of people. Forgiveness is a valuable skill and something we all should do more of. It will make us all better people in the end. Go Bucs!

Winston is the face of the team which is a shame for the season tkt holders and fans. Nationally Winston is considered a thug and while being the 1st pick in the draft has not shown that skill set yet. ..Bucs need to move on with a better man and qb for the team .

I have never once in my 42 years of existence grabbed a girl’s crotch that I didnt already know intimately. How many of those loses fall squarely on GMC? I can name at least 4 from just last year.
In the last 5 games the Bucs had the lead going into the 4th qrt in 2 games and in 2 other games (gb and car) Bucs had the lead with 2 mins left. In the last game against the Saints he came from behind to win and likely ignored Koetter in order to do so.
Can’t win games when you have the stay puff marshmallow man manning the middle.

I think what needs to be kept in mind is that the Uber incident took place several years ago and I believe that Jameis has matured proportionately with his age since. I believe the biggest problem he has is that his judgement back then was much more immature than his age and stature and the most difficult of his decisions to forgive and forget is that he failed to accept responsibility for sexually assaulting an innocent Uber driver and then compounded his immature decision by failing to inform the organization and his coaches of his drunken, immature decision making. I give him credit, so far, with how he has handled this, but he has to understand that he has disappointed an awful lot of people who took a chance on him despite his history of bad decisions. If he can demonstrate that his decision making has matured on the football field, that may serve to help his redemption for some people. Some of us are still pulling for him to accept the responsibilities of fatherhood and be an outstanding citizen.

Some people here keep calling Jameis a liar. It’s possible that he simply does not remember what he did or didn’t do. Nobody knows for sure. It’s possible that he really believes he’s innocent. For the record, 55 years ago, one night I was blind drunk. I literally could not see anything beyond maybe 30 feet. It was a long time before I took another drink, and then only in moderation. It’s possible that something more than alcohol was involved with Jameis. Alcohol effects different people in different ways. The bottom line is, the only one who can say for certain what he remembers is Jameis himself. The woman might be the only person who clearly knows what happened. It’s also possible that SHE is lying. I know what that’s like. The truth doesn’t always come out, and speculation is not truth. Speculation is a guess. An accusation without proof is just wrong. Not a fan of FSU. Not a fan of speculation. Just a fan of the truth and the Bucs.
