Breer: Jameis Cut A Deal With The NFL
June 28th, 2018Former NFL Network reporter and current Sports Illustrated writer Albert Breer has been busy Twittering firm statements this afternoon about the now-official three-game suspension of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.
Per Breer, Jameis receiving just three games, versus six possible under the NFL conduct policy, “was indeed the result of the settlement talks between the NFL, NFLPA and his reps. So there will be no appeal.”
Breer went on to Twitter. “There was mutual benefit here. For the NFL, it’s avoiding a Brady/Elliott-like drawn out legal fight. For Winston, it’s getting fewer games, and putting it behind him now.”
Messy stuff.
Many fans will believe a legal fight over three games is certainly worth it for a young man who declared his innocence seven months ago, and a young man who just issued an apology that didn’t admit to what he’s accused of and included how he’s disappointed in the NFL ruling.
Joe can only imagine what other deals the NFL has cut regarding this suspension. Bucs officials? The Uber driver? Joe could go on. And did Jameis sign a gag order on discussing this?
June 28th, 2018 at 3:37 pm
Please knock it off with the “America’s Quarterback”. It’s almost like you think Jameis did nothing wrong.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:38 pm
My question is can you imagine the “Real fans” reaction if the cops found a dead body in Hanoi’s house? Lol, smh. #Perspective
June 28th, 2018 at 3:39 pm
Bottom line is he is one accusation away from being banned from the league . He has to go as much as it hurts the organization , there really is no other option . The way this has played out in the times we live in , the stigma surrounding JW will not be acceptable !
June 28th, 2018 at 3:40 pm
I have had the Glazers back every step of the way…..if they don’t drop their own hammer on Jameis….I am done with them as owners of the franchise….
June 28th, 2018 at 3:42 pm
So the Bucs did say: “All members of our organization are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the Personal Conduct Policy of the NFL. We are disappointed that Jameis put himself in a position that has been found to violate the policy and accept today’s decision by the Commissioner.”
It’s some weak sauce, but that’s what it should be right now. Note how there is no mention or support for the lying groping Winston–not necessarily telling of the future but could indicate they don’t know what exactly they will do just yet. This is good news for fans. Maybe they’ll drop this chump to #3 on the roster for the season.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:42 pm
Winston is very, very fortunate. However, one more slip up and he’s out of the league. And let’s face it, that could happen at any time. Bucs need to find their new QB
June 28th, 2018 at 3:43 pm
100% Hipocresy….as usual with Godell and this new generation…..
June 28th, 2018 at 3:43 pm
Who’s still sticking up for Jameis? He asked us to judge him by his actions. Done. He’s a liar and a deviant. Just going by his actions.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:46 pm
I think he is saying what he has to.say not what he believes.
I still maintain i dont think the incident is as bad as ppl are making this
NFL is making a point, if it was that bad theyd do no deal. Period and itd be a year

June 28th, 2018 at 3:47 pm
Ok, now we all know the suspension is reall and Jameis Winston abused from alcohol and, as he implied, possibly did something very wrong.
Mess, mess mess. Have no ideia how JW can compensate for that and honestly I don’t really care right now if he can.
All I really want is for the team/organization to focus on our season and get some W’s, right out of the gate preferably
Go Bucs

June 28th, 2018 at 3:48 pm
I believe Jameis. He’s in a no win situation. Whoever is advising him drew up a terrible statement for him though… goodness. Why apologize if you didn’t do anything? The Bucs statement was concise and to the point and seems to have Jameis’ back.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:48 pm
Please stop with the “America’s Quarterback” nonsense. You are embarrassing yourself. He’s the same guy who is one more transgression from being banned from the league.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:49 pm
How is he Americas Qb when he is not even Tampa’s Qb Joe?
June 28th, 2018 at 3:49 pm
HUH????
“I would like to say I’m sorry to the Uber driver for the position I put you in.”
How is that not an admission of guilt? Innocent people don’t apologize for situations they put victims in.
Geez. The Jameis sympathy is out of control officially as of today.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:49 pm
Please stop calling this guy America’s quarterback.I hope JW get out of the public light and focused on fighting his demons! He can not be an inspiration to anyone else until he gets the help he needs alchol or sexual just get help for what is bugging him.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:50 pm
I’m against the grain here, but if he serves his punishment then why not let him play. With an extremely short lease of course. And next year we sign the best backup that money can buy and take that out of Jameis’ salary.
Sure, if we cut him, it sends the proper PR message, but it’s not going to get us wins. Let him serve his punishment and get on with it and get on with building a backup plan.

One more slip up and he’s out of the league?
Has there been something else Jameis has done since being in the league? No really, has he been suspended or gotten in trouble that I didn’t know about.
Or are we still talking about college?
This is his first mistake since being in the NFL and it happened right after his rookie year. That was a long time ago and a lot of growing up has already occurred. I am of the belief that this is a lesson America’s Quarterback learned greatly from and I will be extremely disappointed if we don’t continue to see if he can finally showcase his greatness consistently.

I’m so dumb.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:57 pm
Winston’s position is bogus…his words offered today may work the FIRST time but not the second time and beyond. We don’t know if he’s “clean” from booze but we do know being sober (if he is) has not changed his amazing capacity to lie and deceive and hurt reputations of others…and to screw the very guys who gave him a chance and benefit of he doubt. They already did that once. This was his second chance. Does he deserve a third? Not as team captain, not as a starter, not as a Buc.
I would not be surprised if he just stated disappointed with the NFL’s decision because he knows he’s in the dog house with his team and at home. He needs to face the music, for once.
June 28th, 2018 at 3:58 pm
hey Alaskan, he was suspended 9 games ago. but it wasn’t sexual assauly so it doesn’t count. “America’s Groper”
June 28th, 2018 at 3:59 pm
Yeah Alaskan…you make sense. A second felony and he’s out would just to be harsh. Three sexual offenses sounds about right before tossing him out.
Funny, most people get through life without any.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:00 pm
They should of announced the suspension that same day Jameis’s son is born. lol
June 28th, 2018 at 4:00 pm
I don’t know if you listen to Ira’s podcast ( If you don’t you should), but they talked about a video that surfaced of Jameis at an event last year and you can hear the bartender say,” can I get you a drink” and jameis replied he doesn’t drink.
So there’s proof right there.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:01 pm
Alaskan
It’s in the league statement. Go look
June 28th, 2018 at 4:01 pm
Josh Freeman caused the franchise less embarassment than Winston has.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:03 pm
To say im disapointed in Jameis would be an understatement. I spent the last three plus years vigorously defending him. Disgusting. Im not one to throw stones from my moral high ground, but this is an embarassment to put it lightly.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:03 pm
Jameis cannot be alone with another female other than his wife or mother….or he risks everything…..he is one false accusation from ending his career…..
Even his staunches supporters should agree with this. He must be more than careful. Will practically need to be a Monk.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:04 pm
Alaskan: The event you reference is hearsay. One of the Joes (Lee) claimed he heard it from someone else that they saw a story on Instagram of the Winston family at Top Golf and Winston could possibly be heard off camera saying he doesn’t drink.
That evidence holds less weight to me than if those words came out of Darby’s mouth at this point.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:07 pm
My opinion about this matter wavers. I can see both sides of it I think. I initially wanted Mariotta in 2015 as I thought JW was nothing but trouble. Not just the allegations, but the woefully immature behavior, be it shouting out the meme on the table or the whole crab leg deal. But once we drafted him he became my QB and I have supported him unwaveringly ever since (it helped that the FSU matter was not cut and dried and Kinsman was not a reliable witness who changed her story). And of course until now there has been nothing else. And the current situation is also an old one, albeit one that occurred after we drafted him when he clearly should have known better.
But I wonder why, if this action is so egregious, the victim didn’t file charges against who she almost certainly knew in short order was a professional athlete. JW doesn’t get a pass here obviously, but as has been mentioned there’s no way in hell the NFL crafts a deal with JW if they thought his actions were truly heinous. It would be a bad look. But yet they did strike a deal. Which tells me that the combination of the victim not filing charges, coupled with the fact that JW stopped when asked during the alleged “hassle” as Joe dismissively calls it, led to the reduction in time. Finally, NFL QB is not a normal job. But if the exact same thing that happened to JW happened to any one of us, the worst that would have happened based on what actually happened here is we’d lose our Uber account. No jail time; no loss of wages (our employer would like never even know), nothing. Current QB’s have weathered far worse situations. If JW performs upon his return, that, coupled with the passage of time and continued good behavior will smooth all of this over.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:08 pm
Ironically, they deal implies the NFLs hand was weaker than their public statement suggests. If you have enough evidence under the conduct policy that a sexual assault took place, then he should be given the maximum suspension allowable under the CBA. The strong NFL statement and public almost apology we’re undoubtedly part of the negotiated outcome, but man, when folks get nabbed games for pot or deflating a ball than this incident, what kind of message does that send? I guess 3 games plus public condemnation with the insinuation of overwhelming and damning witness and technical evidence is sufficient enough??? It all stinks so bad. Thanks Jaboo. Thanks.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:08 pm
If they had actual evidence it would have been 6+ games.

June 28th, 2018 at 4:12 pm
I don’t trust the NFL and their “investigators” at all.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:13 pm
Didn’t see it but was told Jameis was on camera. The bartender was not but could be heard asking if Jameis wanted a drink. He declined saying he didn’t drink. Did not see the video but was told about it.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:14 pm
I agree that the NFL evidence probably only proved Jameis was alone with the driver and the driver complained to her employer…..it likely proved Jameis tried to hide the incident.
That is why the settlement makes sense…..they simply couldn’t prove he did it.
We all as fans have our own way of judging this….and that runs the gamut.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:18 pm
I’m just glad it’s over time to move on . He still saying he didn’t do nothing so this is just a let’s get this over n move on. I’m still backing Winston that’s my quarter back just like Bret, Big Ben, Payton, the Panthers GM and the lions head coach for got his name but know what they say he did . N that’s ok to let people move on with there life’s. But it is strange that they got off other then big Ben when the video tape thrown away but he still had to sit 4 games for sexual assault 2 female in 1 year’s time. But Winston is the only Black guy but he can’t move on with his life the media n some of the people on this site saying cut him . I’m just saying look at the facts not race card for y’all copout.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:21 pm
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O well as a fan this stuff doesn’t surprise me much.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:22 pm
I still believe Jameis and I believe in 2nd chances and being that this is an accusation with no evidence and first time as an NFL Quaterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers……. one h_ll of a learning curve, but come on guys!!! He wants to succeed and win as a Buccaneer, yall wanna drive him off!!!
Come on man!!!!!!
I know I have no say so but I vote and say he stays!!!#Winston3
June 28th, 2018 at 4:27 pm

The NFL cut a deal because they couldn’t prove it….period….they know he was alone….they know he tried to cover it up….stalemate….so they started with 6 games and worked it down to 3.
Jameis is, was and especially will be vulnerable to anything involving a female.

June 28th, 2018 at 4:27 pm
I’m a little confused. Let me preface this by saying I have no problem with the suspension. He deserves it. However, I don’t understand the sudden fan hatred towards Jameis. Didn’t we all know he was going to get suspended? Didn’t we all know there was more than a decent chance he was guilty? So what exactly has changed? There are people that were defending him 2 weeks ago that are now saying they want him gone? I just don’t get it.
He did something wrong. I’m not going to defend him, nor should anyone. However, I don’t see his actions as something that should end his time in Tampa. Thin ice, absolutely, but not ending. He was extremely inappropriate, but by my definition certainly not rape, or even sexual assault. He touched her, she said no, he stopped (allegedly). Again, not saying that makes him a great person or innocent person, but not enough in my book to close the book on him. I don’t think his actions are anywhere near as bad as what happened with Big Ben, and he’s stayed out of trouble since. He’s getting a well deserved suspension, and he will be losing a considerable amount of cash on his next contract. That’s a steep punishment, but I just don’t see his actions as severe enough to throw him out or give up on him. It happened 2 years ago. He’s stopped drinking (allegedly), and hopefully matured with a baby on the way and a marriage in the works.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:28 pm
Tampabaybucfan, agreed.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:28 pm
Tbbf,
Keep spinning it….read the policy and if you were right 3 games would be the negotiating point, not six. If you open your mind to the possibility that a guy you don’t know at all….May May have been off a nite….the NFL lays out the evidence trails and they have more detailed information than they will say. Why it took so long is to give daddy Goodell the time to clean up this mess. The bad guy just swept a lot of stink under the rug to protect the league.
Tell us again report deniers that the user suspension was nothing to report…
Now complain that daddy Goodell is toooo big and bad a guy. Hey fools, if you had to clean up the ship storm left by your delinquent players day after day.
You’d smell like ship too. But Daddy is the bad guy…quit shipping everywhere all the time and maybe daddy wouldn’t be so hard on the lil 24yr babies.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:29 pm
I think Jameis is saying what he has to say as part of this deal with the NFL for 3 games vs 6. It has been proven time and again that you will not win an appeal against Roger Goodell, so why bother. Negotiate, get it past you, and move forward!
June 28th, 2018 at 4:29 pm
As a fan what am i supposed to do? not cheer when her throws a TD? piss and moan if he throws for 300yards. I have no choice but to root for who ever is put on the field. “America’s Groper: has given every other fan base ammo, and we are never going to hear the end of it.

Roy- First off another accusation would probably be enough to get him black balled but not expelled from the league.
He still is not a registered or convicted sex offender or rapist or any of that. But if you want to hold higher moral ground then the state police, judges, and the victim then so be it.
I just meant any little thing is not going to get him kicked out of the league. But thanks for insinuating I condone sexual offense. Fun stuff.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:32 pm
And tom Brady challenging the sanctity of the game is ‘Americas qb”…lol!! The virtue signaling is DISGUSTING, and many buc fans should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES..this PROVES THE NFL HAS NOTHING!!!!!!! Circumstantial evidence, at best, that would NEVER hold up in a court of law..again, do you blindly support president trump?? Get a grip, fanboys
June 28th, 2018 at 4:33 pm
Dreadful both on and off the field. A very bad look.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:34 pm
@BrianBucs
it was not the deflating of footballs as much as the lying and covering up that Brady got punished for!!!!!!
And likely that JW3 had some goodwill evidence to present such as he has already given up drinking and when thru a program already that helped it get reduced upon conditions!!!!!!!!
June 28th, 2018 at 4:34 pm
They need to trade for Teddy Bridgewater ASAP!!!!! If his knee is fit for play he is a viable option for the bucs….they need a real insurance player in case of injury to Fitz and/or a further setback for winston

@Joel
I agree, short and to the point.
Time to move on.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:35 pm
Hey we have an admitted sexual assaulter as America’s president…and some think that is fine. But Jameis can’t be America’s QB because he did exactly the same thing? Why not? Is football more important than the highest office in the land? Heck no….Jameis Winston…America’s QB…it fits.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:36 pm
Or the white house, brianbucs, if YOU ARE THE JUDGE…lol!!! This is TOO easy..the hypocrisy is NEXT LEVEL IDIOTIC
June 28th, 2018 at 4:36 pm
F the NFL for not announcing this before Free Agency or the Draft btw.
We could have had Sam Bradford or someone else as a Backup for a year or two while we still had the cap to work with.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:36 pm
This will be good for Licht and Koetter.
Instead of old Sloths, they have signed some proven 20’s young guns.
They finally seem to have gotten the message that you win games at the line of scrimmage and great defense beats great offense. The suspension will test the wisdom of their free agent signings and draft.
Hey. The Eagles won the Super Bowl with their back up. Why? Because it is a team sport after all.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:39 pm
What I’m about to say isn’t going to be popular, which I don’t care. The Bucs should keep Jameis and daft a qb next year. Keep Jameis and see if this event causes him to improve. Keep him as long as possible because some people does change and become better individuals.
What Jameis did was wrong. I believe the fact that he’s now a new father along with this situation will force him to mature more. Potentially make him a better person and player. Now more than ever he should want to be on the straight an narrow to provide for his family.
It’s easy to quit. But, character is built through adversity and not giving up. It’s too early to quit on Jameis with this being his first proven offense. Peyton Manning, Big Ben and Matt Patricia all had similar to worst allegation and/ or proven allegation surround them. All of them became winners despite their past. I’m not saying Jameis is going to do the same. I’m saying give him some more time.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:43 pm
Please don’t stop calling him “America’s quarterback.” I, for one, am really glad it’s over. He could have kept on claiming it didn’t happen, used the he said/she said defense, but he apologized to the victim and started setting things right in his life (starting 2 and a half years ago) by quitting alcohol, getting engaged, starting a family and throwing himself into community work.
Still, he let the Buc’s organization, the coaches and his teammates down. iAs punishment, he should:
1) be suspended from playing in the fourth preseason game
2) be required to sign autographs after every practice
3) host a free camp for kids every year
4) get a teaching license and do substitute teaching
5) show up earlier than anyone else on work days, and
6) care more about winning than anyone else even if that means losing his temper at officials or opposing players
June 28th, 2018 at 4:43 pm
@Roy T has been in every comments section blasting Jameis. His mind is already made up and is entitled to his opinions, but, my goodness is his mind made up that Jameis is the scum of the Earth. I personally know Jameis is not the scum of this planet and recommend that people take a look at how inconsistent the NFL has been with PR and how the NFL suppressed evidence with the Rice video. Logic would say that if the NFL has anything big on Jameis than there would be full disclosure. We simply have nothing other than Jameis admitting he was intoxicated and that his Uber account was suspended…
June 28th, 2018 at 4:43 pm
Realist
Jameis apparently did some lying of his own
I do hope that he has already sought help for his problem and it just not spin
June 28th, 2018 at 4:43 pm
@Frank Pillow
The financial downside of this to Jameis is 50 Million +/-
A protracted fight with the NFL if he is innocent is nothing compared to his financial downside. So, my question to you is why would he agree to a suspension, if innocent. His high powered legal counsel would be chomping at the bit to take this one all the way.
Unless he is guilty, has already cut a deal with the driver for her future silence. I suspect here is how it went. NFL: 3 game suspension, no appeal, or play in Canada.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:46 pm

June 28th, 2018 at 4:53 pm
The overwhelming majority of NFL players are young men yet 99% of them don’t do what Jameis did. There’s no point to hammer home that he’s a young man. Jameis’ statement admitted his wrongdoing and the NFL’s statement is *crystal* clear as to what happened.
There is no spinning this. I’m not sure why you are trying.
What spin? Man. Read what’s here. –Joe

I still think they cut the deal so they could move on the nfl didn’t have any proof etc so instead they had JW3 fall on the sword and take 3 games think about it.. this took 8 months to investigate how hard is it when you don’t have a smoking gun of evidence? but perception is reality I guess go bucs..
June 28th, 2018 at 4:56 pm
@Gene
Don’t believe he’s saying to draft a QB in the first round. But Spending say a 3rd or 4th on a guy you think could develop into a good QB is smart. Just to cover the risk.
I’ve made my stance on this matter well known, what he did what very inappropriate and that’s not debatable. However, it’s being blown way, way out of proportion by SJW’s and Jameis haters alike.
Making an inappropriate, 3-5 sexual advance while drunk, and then immediately stopping when rejected, isn’t enough reason to just throw Jameis out the door. And that’s especially true considering the very real fact that for the past 3 seasons, Jameis has been the best QB the Bucs have ever had.
June 28th, 2018 at 4:57 pm
*3-5 second*… Sorry, that’s a very important distinction.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:00 pm
I’ve been a Jameis supporter through and through- but in the face of what’s been presented, it’s etremely difficult to legitimize his return to the team this year. Even with this plea-down to 3 games, the NFLs statement is about as damning as it gets. That, coupled with a Jameis’s tone-deaf non-apology, equals a toxic mess that isn’t easily cleaned up- particularly w/o a single honest act of contrition on his part.
Based on what we know, Jameis mislead us and in doing so, he proved to be the exactly guy he (and the team) swore he wasn’t. Worse, is the league’s view that he’s a deviant and/or otherwise in need of immediate and mandatory clinical intervention.
At minimum, the team should consider suspending Jameis for the season- for detrimental conduct (or the appropriate verbiage under the CBA). There have to be consequences for the act. Consequences for the lies.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:02 pm
I think Joe continues to use “America’s QB” just to irritate me. But is it worth looking idiotic Joe?
June 28th, 2018 at 5:02 pm
Its so funny to hear the sheep blame the NFL league office!!!!! In every instant they have been very pro-player, gave out ambiguous statements so not to bury players!!!!! In most cases they destroy evidence after a judgement has been issued!!!!!!!! I don’t know one player that has been treated unfairly by king Goodell!!!!!!!! If anything, he has left enough room so the punish could redeem themselves!!!!!!
Think about this, he could have easily handed down a 6 game suspension, and released the electronic evidence that would have buried JW3 career in the NFL!!!!!!!!!!

Joe, the overwhelming majority of NFL players are young men yet 99% of them don’t do what Jameis did. There’s no point to hammer home that he’s a young man. Jameis’ statement admitted his wrongdoing and the NFL’s statement is *crystal* clear as to what happened.
There is no spinning this. I’m not sure why you are trying.

June 28th, 2018 at 5:04 pm
Why are the sheep so concerned with a ridiculous nick name for the QB when they should be concerned about the second sexual assault committed!!!!!!!!!!
You and I part ways on this one……your post makes the point….if Jameis committed two sexual assaults, he can’t be America’s QB……
Also, I don’t convict him on either….he gets reasonable doubt….but it certainly isn’t good.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:24 pm
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Jameis being suspended for NOT reporting the incident?
June 28th, 2018 at 5:26 pm
Jameis is dead to me. Bucs (and Joe), do not hitch a ride in this hearse.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:27 pm
@Tampabaybucfan
Sticking your head in the sand is not reasonable doubt!!!!! Your fantasy land of “reality” is not reasonable doubt!!!!!!
Maybe one day you can break from that shell that is nothing but the imaginary world in which you don’t get hurt and don’t have to accept the facts!!!!!!!!!
June 28th, 2018 at 5:27 pm
@Gene Deckehoff is my hero…thanks for not name calling etc like others. Now, I don’t think Jameis is the worst guy in the world, but the NFL clearly thinks he committed a sex crime–yes, he is the scum of the Earth, yes, along the spectrum. He’s not Hardy or Rice but he also seems to have done all that is alleged and we know he’s a liar. Even when sober two years later…he lied. Even after being busted in several ways, he is still pompous. I think the NFL knows it all, and is letting him save some face by sparing all the details. Your employer would not release all, would they? NFL franchise QBs, faces of the franchise don’t do this stuff…ever…I hope he gets well but I don’t owe him anything. Neither do the fans, and now, neither does the team–other than his rehab.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:30 pm
@realist
Reasonable doubt is a criminal bar to attain and neither incident reaches that.
I sure wouldn’t want you serving on any juries.
I don’t give him the benefit of the doubt….he must earn that and he hasn’t.
So, yes….I’m walking right down the middle of this one…..that’s my reality.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:31 pm
All Trump supporters should love Jameis…
June 28th, 2018 at 5:33 pm
Moral of the story:
Be an nfl owner that way you can harass and discriminate and make 2.2 billion from selling the team after paying at 2.75 million dollar fine.
Different strokes for different folks.
And I love the hypocrisy bc of it were your son accused you’d be out there defending him tooth and nail talking about no your honor the punishment is too severe and will negatively effect his future. Yes I know he had intercourse with a girl he found passed out behind a dumpster but jail would be too hard on him. I think 6 months community serve will suffice, he’s learned his lesson your honor.
Or better yet, FAKENEWS he’s got my vote!
June 28th, 2018 at 5:35 pm
This is one we can’t blame on Mark Dominick….
Also…remember Gary Condit?……He’s the Congressman that was accused of murdering Chandra Levy. He was top of the news for weeks….then 911 happened and you never heard a peep about Gary.
This Jameis news has completely knocked GMC bashing to the sideline….We will know when we are moving on when the “Ice Cream Man” gets trashed again.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:35 pm
Joe, I get you not bending to posters and not doing away with Americas Quarterback but you are just glorifying a guy who got suspended for sexually, what’s the word you use, harassing a woman. Be better then that.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:36 pm
OK there have been several Trump references ?….what are you talking about ?
June 28th, 2018 at 5:38 pm
Last post. Can anyone in here take 10 minutes to realize what’s going on?? Jameis didn’t do it, the NFL had nothing except to say that the woman’s statement was believable (doesn’t mean it’s true.) As soon as the case hits buzzfeed she lawyers up with the same lawyer Clune who represented the alleged victim while he was at FSU. The NFL is in the midst of a PR nightmare for mishandling situations that not even Tom Brady can beat. Jameis is the fall guy… now players and personnel know to report anything to the NFL before they read about it on a sports gossip site or blog.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:40 pm
Pretty telling statement. Lied -yes. Guilty of incident – not denying
This website calling him americas quarteback still -wow

Street Cred Meter ^^^^^^
June 28th, 2018 at 5:43 pm
Lets cut OJ some slack while we are at it…..He is still looking for the killers of Ron and Nicole…..
June 28th, 2018 at 5:44 pm
@The Buc Fakeist
You’ve never been more wrong. 1st, what Jameis is being suspended for is not sexual assault. It’s an inappropriate failed advance made while drunk, where he stopped immediately upon being rejected.
2nd. Jameis Winston was exonerated of the charges levied against him by lying E.K. in numerous legal proceedings.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:46 pm
Gene Deckehoff is my hero Says:
Maybe Jameis was framed……his friend Darby double-crossed him and is working with Goodell to punish Jameis and the Bucs….the Uber driver got a secret payoff to frame Jameis……poor guy didn’t know what hit him.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:49 pm
The “real” fans think its sad that the most believable witness in all this was the guy serving 15 years, who was reasonable enough to send “out of control” JW3 home!!!!!!
Its just sad!!!!!
June 28th, 2018 at 5:50 pm
@Gene…you say Jameis didn’t do it. Really? Do you know that? Why? Because he said so? He’s not even indicating he’s really sorry about lying or what he did. He is still apparently telling his buds NOW he was in the car alone with her, but he didn’t grope her. This loser is continuing to negotiate facts along the way. Everyone else’s story seems tight from the start…Jameis is making it up as he goes. No fear.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:54 pm
Roy- This is actually not unprecedented for NFL franchise QBs like you stated. Go and read up on Joe Namath, Peyton Manning, Mike Vick, Dan Marino, Jim McMahon, Brett Farve, and Ben Rothlisberger. Thats just to name a few Great Qbs that have committed questionable or terrible acts.
June 28th, 2018 at 5:54 pm
He’s overly apologized in both statements. The only thing he’s guilty of is being drunk…
June 28th, 2018 at 5:55 pm
I am grateful the NFL got this out now because we have time to get another game-experiened QB to compete with Fitz as insurance for whatever they do with Winston. This team has a lot of potential this year…and I’d rather not throw it away giving by giving a lying groper a THIRD chance to lie and screw us all over AGAIN. Jameis needs to be #3 on the depth chart…and earn his way way on and and off the field…and I don’t think that’s doable…he wasn’t that good before. Now, I’m at every game, home and several away, and I’d rather not spend the whole season hearing about Jameis…the face of the franchise…I’d rather hear about 5 sacks, 3 picks, 120 yards catching, 100 yards on the ground, etc. Of course where it really matters is what does his owners and GM and coaches think? They are dumber than dirt if the don’t bring someone in with game experience…
June 28th, 2018 at 5:59 pm
“America’s Groper and Turnover Machine”
If you’re going to give him a nickname, why not make it accurate?
June 28th, 2018 at 6:01 pm
The difference is now there is a huge increase in media coverage and also social media means you are absorbing a hundred times more input and opinions than you did before. Many of them being way off kilter and some said just to spark a reaction.
Oh and do the sheeple react. With outrage! Y’all eat it up and become the moral militia without a basis of facts. I know you keep looking at the victim like a wife or daughter but have you also thought of Jameis as a son or brother? Would you still condemn him without proof? I think not sir.
June 28th, 2018 at 6:02 pm
@Gene…better call the NFL immediently…looks like you have some clues they all missed. And there’s no guilt for being drunk. Groping and lying about facts and deceiving your team is big stuff. I realize you can’t comprehend that. That’s okay.
June 28th, 2018 at 6:05 pm
@Alaskan…yes, it means one is more likely get caught, and be scrutinized in the public eye. But the sex crimes laws haven’t changed, and con-jobs and cover-ups are no more or less serious.
No problems to disagree. Taking the rest of the night off.
June 28th, 2018 at 6:07 pm
We might suck but at least the media is talking bout us. lol
June 28th, 2018 at 6:08 pm
America in 2018: Where people hold a 22-year old football player to higher standards than the “leader” of our country…
Are we great again yet? Asking for a friend.
June 28th, 2018 at 6:09 pm
Serial sex offender smh
June 28th, 2018 at 6:10 pm
I really wish Jimbo Fisher would come out and tell the real story of Winston’s final year at FSU.
June 28th, 2018 at 6:18 pm
If a deal was cut, there was enough evidence to question involvement. Jameis should have learned from his FSU past but obviously did not. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN THESE SITUATIONS! Enough said.
June 28th, 2018 at 6:19 pm
Not for nothing, but all of a sudden there’s 10-20 (I’m being conservative) new posters here who are he!! bent on seeing Jameis gone. The situation is embarrassing to be sure, but aren’t we overreacting just a bit?
June 28th, 2018 at 6:28 pm
got to bed Roy T. . .ur drunk
For the rest of us. . . . the kid made a BIG mistake
If he makes another one. . . . . we can talk about it then
Lets win some games
June 28th, 2018 at 8:11 pm
2+ years ago Jameis got intoxicated. A guy who work habits does not add up to an alcoholic but does add up to a guy who has a low alcohol tolerance and gets smashed OCCASSIONALLY!
In order to get back to the game he loves, he agreed to Godell terms and it is all about Godell having the power, actually it is the “real power abuse” You say he lied everyone I know doesn’t know Jameis as a liar…naive, trusting, black, but not a LIAR!
Inflate Gate = 4 games, Big Ben has survived his sexual inappropiate past and IF JW touched he relented when she supposedly shut him down
So this imperfect fanbase need to GET OFF OF IT’S PERFECT SOAP BOX…
IT WAS 2+ years ago…anyone with grown kids know, a kid can change and grow up to be “A WHITE BIG BEN if given time!
June 28th, 2018 at 8:20 pm

MORAL MILITIA lo💚e it
June 28th, 2018 at 8:21 pm
BS. He got caught. He was not charged with not reporting. Stop with the we are mistreated BS.
June 28th, 2018 at 8:23 pm
“Kate”?is going to be laughing her ass off to the bank. Guess what? Guys have been making advances to women since the beginning of time. At least straight guys anyway.
June 28th, 2018 at 10:08 pm
Man why don’t y’all let this go like the white quarter backs that did the same thing even worse why big Ben not a rapist, or Bret Farve why y’all so hard on someone with no proof he did anything wrong. That’s how I know that race plays apart of y’all fake fans. He haven’t had a drink in a year and a half. Stop hateing Winston is my quarter back go bucs…….
June 29th, 2018 at 12:19 am
They’ve turned on you JW you are now worse than your puffy grabbing President/45, you can single handily win -2 games this year and they will continue to hate you! If I were you I’d negotiate my self to another team that wants my talent because clearly TBUCS don’t know how to stand by there man!!
June 29th, 2018 at 1:19 am
If he was Saudi Arabia’s QB, they would have lauded him and suspended her 😂.
