Hargreaves Says It Wasn’t Marijuana

It’s been a couple of months since the Vernon Hargreaves smoking video emerged, quickly putting a darker cloud over the Buccaneers’ first-round pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Since, Hargreaves has been working hard and trying to earn a starting job through spring conditioning and practices.
He chatted at One Buc Palace this week with Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times and said that it wasn’t marijuana he was smoking in that brief and mysterious video.
Hargreaves also said he has been a disappointing but “average” player through his NFL career.
“Well, the first two years I’ve had, they’ve been down years,” Hargreaves conceded following the Bucs’ final organized team activity Thursday. “They’ve been average. You know, as a first-rounder, obviously, they’re expecting production. It’s plain and simple. It’s not that complicated. I haven’t been producing.”
There was more from Hargreaves, but what’s clear is he has the right attitude. He knows he has been a bust so far, getting benched and forcing management into investing heavily at cornerback.
Hargreaves turns 23 next week and Joe certainly isn’t counting him out. He wouldn’t be the first talented and young cornerback to need a couple of years to mature and realize he can’t rely on pure athleticism in the NFL.

He may simply end up being a pretty good slot corner……hopefully not. He has the skills to be good….does he have the heart?
Somehow it averages out……who knows the UDFA Elliott may bust out and be our best….

Vernon still has a chance to save his career and age is on his side.however,if the rookies (Carlton Davis specifically)come in and show him up then it will get in his head and he will fail.he has to make it happen this year!!that being said,Carlton Davis will not be on the bench long!he will take the outside spot opposite of grimes (1st regular season game he will start)so Vernon better take the slot!that means he will have to beat out MJ another rookie!better get your head out of your ass Vernon cause play time is over!what ya gonna do???

Why should anyone care if it was marijuana?
Would anyone care if he was shown in a video drinking a margarita?
Its pretty commonly accepted these days that Alcohol is worse than weed.
Feds need to stop their charade that cannabis is “dangerous” and has no medicinal purposes so that the NFL can follow suit.
But that would cut off all the lobbying “contributions” from Big Pharma wouldn’t it?

^^^ What Pick just said. I have dropped more weed than most people have smoked. It is medically legal here in Montana and basically cops won’t even search your car if they smell it. Fact is that it is NOT a “performance enhancer”.
Prolly the opposite actually. I smoke it at work to help me concentrate and for my back pain but it Does Not make me stronger or faster in any way. This said, it doesn’t absolve VH3 of any wrongdoing either.

Pickgrin hit the nail on the head… who cares if he did smoke marijuana… unless he’s doing it all night and day during the regular season… who cares…
I get that it’s against league policy and therefore there’s reason to worry but hey as long as he pisses clean then I could care less.
Alcohol has a waaaaaaaaay worse effect on the body… and makes you slow and hungover… weed? Might just make you sleep better and therefore recover better…
It angers me thinking how badly weed is viewed… even though I could smoke a full blunt or 2 and put some eye drops and some cologne on and walk into my office and convince my boss not to fire me right after doing so… try doing that same thing after you’ve had 10 shots…

Bonzai………….I am Legal to smoke as much as I want. WIfe is too. Sure VH3 was smoking too but he is not allowed to admit it. Weed should be legal EVERYWHERE with a prescription. .

Bonzai………I am going to repost this and it will prolly double post but I am legal to smoke all I want. So is the wife. Should be everywhere. The pain benefits are incredible and they are learning to do it with CBD instead of THC.

The problem is that it is not allowed by the NFL!!!! He might just get randomly selected to take an extra test or two!!! Players that have gotten into their program (regular test) have missed games because they could not put the bong down!!!!!!

Until he gets benched. Until A 4th round rookie takes his job, and keeps it all season. Until- despite the coaches telling him not to- he keeps playing 10 yards off his man.

If Vh3 wasnt the 12th pick, they would have cut him last year.
Instead, they moved him to the slot. Where he still sucked, and wasnt as good as McClain.
I know some of you will argue, saying VH3 was great in the slot. Thats what the Bucs were turing to sell, but its not true.
They drafted MJ Stewart to play the slot.
Unless a miracle happens- they will kerp VH3 here one more season- to save face, and then will cut him.
And it would take a miracle. Hes short, Slow, and um, not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Id love to see him do it. You absolutely cant have too many cornerbacks or Pass rushers. I hate seeing that high of a pick going to waste.

I don’t care what Softgreaves was smoking. Bottom line is he seemed to get more absorbed in being a big money star than a hard working NFL player. I think he has most definitely gotten the message and a wake up call. But his efforts last year got him lots of competition this year. Let’s see these guys go to work!

Me and my brothers always smoked MJ before going out and playing football and tennis with no mishaps whatsoever. All the way into our late 40’s. Also drove across country multiple times high without incident.

What athleticism? Undersized and slow if you ask me… Any Wes Welker/ Julian Edelman type would kill him in the slot too….
