“You Can Tell How Comfortable They Are In Their Schemes”
May 23rd, 2018It’s a veteran Buccaneers team, with veteran coaches in place for years and accomplished players at every position except safety and cornerback.
This is evident on the practice field already, says Jameis Winston.
America’s Quarterback took to the podium at One Buc Palace yesterday and was asked what’s different about this team on Day 1 of OTAs, aka real spring practice without pads.
Jameis quickly replied that the energy and excitement stands out, but he also senses an improved comfort and confidence level.
“You know, so anytime you get back to the competitive stage, a lot of talking goes [on], but especially when you’ve got that friendly competition going, you’ve got to love that. So I’m happy that when guys are talking you can tell how comfortable they are in their schemes,” Jameis said. “So it was exciting just to see how comfortable everybody was today.”
The table is set for this Bucs team, not a lot of learning curve here and certainly enough talent to win more than they lose.

I wonder what is going to happen over next few weeks

“Comfortable”
“Friendly”
“Happy”
Not phrases I want to hear in training camp.
Soft camp = Losing season
I want to hear phrases like:
“Kick his ass”
“Annihilate”
“Destroy”

the “monsters of May” moving into the “juggernauts of June” phase.
Totally kicking the air’s ass.

Winston needs to step up and be a bigger leader this year. If not we go nowhere.

I think his leadership is fine… In fact I’d argue he needs to worry less about that, and just concentrate on playing smart football. Lead by example, lead by getting your teammates in the correct position and holding them accountable, etc.
He already has the personality and charm of a leader, he doesn’t need to put more pressure on himself in that regard, IMO.

I don’t understand what some of you want; no matter what happens in this training camp or this season it won’t change the past so continuing to b*tch about it is pointless. Why not be optimistic? Sure, they might break our hearts – again – but changes have been made, they aren’t returning without trying to address the problems. Some of you are still upset at the girl who turned you down for the prom!

Violins please…AHhhhh. the summer air is full of niceities and gentle talk. Vespers in the wind…the scent of complimentary praises….Now get down to winning some GD games Will you Bucs?!!!!!!

You would have hoped they would have changed some of those ineffective schemes that led to no playoffs for the past 3 seasons.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
But if it is broke…

@SCBucsFan – well said, man. — There is nothing whatsoever wrong with being excited & hopeful about all that has gone on in the offseason and what is to come this year. — Hell, it is what makes being a fan… fun. It’s why we are here, isn’t it? — If we end up disappointed, we will deal with it then. — In the meantime, BRING IT ON. Can’t wait to get started.

Joe? Grimes, Tandy and Conte aren’t accomplished?

Fingers crossed this is the year that relative “continuity” pays off.
Jameis should be VERY comfortable with his overall knowledge about this offense coming into his 4th year in the same system.

The season of hype is here. Talk is cheap. We have heard it all before. When the season begins we’ll see the comfortability with the scheme. Hopefully, it will be there.

Start 3-0 with this schedule and I will care about how they feel next June.
