JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman has been a busy guy at the NFL owners meetings this week in Atlanta, gathering information like only the great Sage of Tampa Bay sports can.
That included a beverage with Buccaneers co-chairman Joel Glazer.
One of many nuggets of interest was Team Glazer talking about the notably fierce early schedule, opening the season versus the Saints in New Orleans, followed by home games against the Eagles and Steelers.
“I think it’s a really exciting schedule. Obviously, it starts out tough, but you can look at that two ways. It’s a great challenge that will provide a good measurement for our team early on. Great games for our fans to start the season, Glazer said. “There’s no question that [opening in the Superdome] will be a good measure of where we stand as a football team. It’s a heck of a challenge. That’s where you need the defensive line to create pressure on the quarterback. It’ll be a good test for us to start the season.”
Joe loves that Glazer wasn’t talking soft or offering a whiff of the Bucs being a team that will need time to gel through the season.
No, it seems Glazer is expecting a pass rush (what’s that?) and will be grading the Bucs out of the gate and not on a curve. He expects “great games for our fans,” which means wins are expected.
Man, opening day can’t come soon enough.

I completely agree, I always say “to be the best you have to beat the best”, as competitors why not embrace the challenge of playing against some of the worlds best players and teams.

I never understand all this talk of schedules in the NFL. We act like its such a shock and totally unreasonable that we start the year off in NO against the Saints. News Flash: We play the Saints, Falcons and Panthers twice every year.
What’s the big deal? You have no idea how any of these teams will perform year to year. Rams sucked two years ago and were good last year. Eagles were meh two years ago and then win it all.
Come to think of it, the only constants in the NFL are the Browns and Browns South.

2 years ago both of those teams were 7-9!!!! The sheep would have wanted incompetent lovie to sign a 4 year extension if he went 7-9!!!!!!!!!
and 2 years ago the Bucs were 9-7 and second in the division!!!!! How is that a constant???
The truth is that schedules due matter!!!! And so do injuries, that change the whole dynamic of games!!!!!! But players, team and owners are not allowed to admit that!!!!!!!
The same sheep that say the schedule don’t matter, will then tell you for hours why it does in the SEC football conference!!!!!!!

The solution to the “problem” is to become a damn good football team, so that the Saints and others have to say”damn, we have to play the Buc’s..that’s gonna be tough”

every team has the same amount of games and every team has injuries……the schedule don’t matter…..and you wont find a SEC fan complaining because “we” play in the best conference in CFB…..
the rams an eagles both had rookie QB’s 2years ago with the eagles having a rookie HC was well…..and fishers incompetence has held the rams back much like what dirk is doing with the bucs…..
the truth is you’ll find any and every excuse NOT to hold this staff accountable…..glad the glazers are putting pressure on this staff to win or go fishin!!!!!!!!

If your team is good fans dont worry about the schedule. Thats because your team is good and can beat other good team. Being worried about the schedule has less to do with the opponents and more to do with how bad you honestly think the bucs are.
Be honest with yourself. You are not worried about the schedule. You are worried the Bucs suck.

@JimmyJack – that’s pretty much spot on. If you’re confident in your team, the schedule doesn’t matter (although to be fair- I do have friends that are Pats fans and they b!tch about everything, including their schedule)

Unbelievable…..that is funny. Ive heard Boston fans cry quite a bit. Last week it was over the hockey series. They did get bad calls but were too blind to see how it went both ways. Dont let the success of their teams fool you they have some extremely thick skulled fans.
Patriot fans crying about the schedule is a ridicilous complaint considefinv their division. Made me very pleased when the rule for what constitutes a catch was basically changed, and sent against them, in ghe superbowl……Im sure they still think they were fobbed hahahaha. Bunck of idiots
