Big Season For Mike Evans?
April 8th, 2018If a certain numbercruncher is close to accurate, Mike Evans should have a helluva season this fall.
Mike Clay of BSPN, a noted spreadsheeter, has run the numbers on his Excel software and he believes the Bucs stud receiver should have a dominating season.
Among the projections from Clay are that Evans will have nine touchdown passes and 1,117 yards receiving.
If these projections are accurate, only two receivers will have more touchdown catches than Evans and only nine receivers will have more yards.
You can see the figures below.
Projected 2018 touchdown catches
Projected 2018 receiving yards

Sounds about right…..

All those targets going to Djax need to go to everyone else.
Howard, Godwin, Brats, RB (not enough passes to our rbs last season) even Humph does.more with his targets than Djax . Feed the guys that put the work in and fight for the ball

Is this the first year that Mr Clay has done this activity? If not, I would love to see his accuracy in past years.

Let’s see how Mike Evans plays AFTER he just got the BIG contract.

Lol I’m thinking 1k+ and 10 TDS

I’m a little surprised that no one has suggested that he be traded for draft picks yet😒

With Jameis saying he will personally focus on Jackson, how will that affect Evans season?

Best receiver in Buccaneers franchise history.
I have no doubt whatsoever that “getting paid” will not have any negative effects on Big Mike’s performance, intention to be great, will to win, etc.
Before I saw the prediction – I thought to myself – 10 TDs and 1200+ yards for Evans in 2018.

Curious to see if his YAC stats improve. More often than not he goes down immediately after making a catch.
April 8th, 2018 at 9:48 am
His YAC’s will improve with properly delivered ball…..

Or if he keeps his feet…so yeah

I love Mike and think he’ll have a great year … but … I think the top 10 teams that gave the most money to the WR corps last year, ALL missed the playoffs, as in every single one of the 10 teams.

What was our longest pass play in 2017?
75 yards to Chris Godwin vs Car. It was a 4 yard slant pass from JW.
This is the new NFL normal pass offense. Highly consistant, probable and efficient. The ball is out of the QBs hands with the pass rush no where in sight
When Klueless gets fired end of next year, our new HC John Deflilippo will bring a new offensive passing scheme to finally develop JW correctly
“After i catch the ball, I look like Donavon Smith with skiiny pants”
MEME Evans

I just checked … 11/14 of the top spending teams on their WR corps MISSED the playoffs last year while 9/18 of the lowest spending teams on their WR corps MADE the playoffs.
THAT is not to say that just because we are dedicating a lot of $$$$ to the WR corps we can’t make the playoffs, but, it does seem to make it tougher on average.

NFLNut
While I accept your point I’m not sure the league does. If you go to those Business Insider and other charts that show how much NFL players earn simply by position…after QB of course…it’s DE’s and WR’s…and they are significantly higher than the other positions.
Personally…since I’m a lay hack here and not some NFL guru….I’d just as soon go against the league averages and have our DL and OL’s be the highest paid group relative to the other teams. I’m like Tony in LA and BigHog….build the trenches!
In addition NFLNut I think our situation is a little fluky right now. Most believe DJAX will be gone after this year which will re-balance the situation as some of that WR money moves to Smith, Marpet, and #3.

Betterbuckenbelieve says we should trade Mike Evans, Desean Jackson, Gerald McCoy, and jpp and all of our picks this year and next years 1st and 2nd. All for Barkley. We won’t need receivers or defense if we draft him he will score a touchdown every time he touches the ball so we will average 60 points a game who cares if our defense gives up 40. We will put him at defensive end if game is close and he will sack strip the qb and recover the fumble and return it for touchdown. And he will kick the extra point to make sure we don’t miss that either. All in”sane” for Barkley.

I don’t get why everyone is so down on D-Jax now. Sure he had a down year but the reason we got him is still there. We need a burner and as much as I love Godwin he ain’t a burner.
For the first time I can remember the Bucs are going to a draft where WR and QB are needs. Hell, the only “real” needs on the offense is aRB and guard. Our biggest need on defense is our Number Two CB. What? Usually we are penciling in scrubs all over the place but this year feels different.
I’m going out on a limb here and saying that I think we are this years Jacksonville Jaguars. Two years ago Jacksonville was a darling pick for the playoff after a stellar off season. Then they fell flat on their face with a 3 win season. High expectations can wreak havoc on young teams. Add in Hard Knock, Hurricanes and a swaggy sized cancer in the locker room and you get a whole lot of crap. We are a lot closer than last years record indicats (hopefully).

So some of you think that all of the time that DJax and Jameis have spent working together during the off-season has been just a big waste of time for them! They will never be on the same page.
There just might be good reasons why Evans won’t necessarily have 1900 yards and 15 touchdowns. It will have nothing to do with having Howard, Brate, Humphries, Jackson and Godwin on the roster, though. .. :>) .. :*)?
_____________
Go Bucs!!!

How many yards does he need to hit 5000? That would be cool.
April 8th, 2018 at 8:12 pm
6000*

Mike getting 9 TDs= badass offense. Can’t wait to see D-Jax and Jameis this year after practicing together all offseason. And Godwin is going to be used a lot more according to Licht.
