An actual signing?
One of the very few rumored players that the Bucs are fishing for seems about to be a reality.
Per Jenna Laine of ESPN, the Bucs are about to ink Eagles defensive tackle Beau Allen.
Just judging by Allen’s history (two career sacks!) it seems he is more a backup than a starter, then again he did play for a Super Bowl champion and the Bucs are a five-win team that is truly an embarrassment on the defensive line outside of stud tackle Gerald McCoy.
While Allen has only missed one game in his four-year NFL career, he has only started eight games.
Joe wonders if this spells the end for veteran Clinton McDonald, one of the truly good guys in the NFL and a guy that actually produced for the Bucs (five sacks last year)?

Looks like dependability is what Licht is looking for this time around. Contrary to most fans here I can get behind the Bucs decision to sit back during free agency, sign our home grown guys and build through drafting. This team is too far off to start mortgaging the future on free agent gambles

For those that are still…you…see below.
Most folks on here think that Dorsey, Gettleman, Beane, Elway are GM minds that will just be willfully defiant and take a player at #1-#5. They are all old-school, smart as hell frachise-building minds, that are open to OFFERS that they CAN’T REFUSE.
THIS is where I make a hell of a lot more sense, than the imbeciles on here, that profess such determination that no GM in the top 5 will answer Licht’s call while on the clock. They will look at what is best for THEIR more prosperous franchises, and accept the trade from Licht, while still driving a hard bargain.
Saquon Barkley. This Bucs fan believes, Licht will go TAKE HIM from other franchises. Take what you want, don’t ask for it. He’ll go take him.
As for those who feel (somehow with absolutely no first-hand knowledge whatsoever or actions identifiable to prove it) that the Glazers will tie Jason’s hands in the draft on any picks in any draft years, you’re DEAD WRONG. Dead effing wrong. Think about it fools, are they going to be in on every decision that hasn’t yet presented itself, when unexpected things go down within 10 minutes on the clock that NO ONE foresees yet?!? Or if Jason can unload bloated contracts and move up for PLAYERS WHO FILL THE STANDS, PUT US ON NFL NETWORK WITH BARKELY?!? Shift the NFL scheduling landscape. YEAH….Glazers don’t any FREE publicity, no! Glazers won’t and can’t possibly ascertain what the scenarios will be.
I grant that they may certainly have had input with Licht on no massive FA spending spree, that makes some sense, and has everything to do with the bottom line of the net operating income of the franchise, and their displeasure in the 5-11 2017 seasons.
NOT the free (low cost 5 year-optioned) college kid gonna change the TV and season tix holders landscape….imbeciles.
Remember, Jason will go TAKE HIS, not ask. A world of difference.

Left overs indeed, they should be attacking in free agency AND attack at the draft.
There isn’t enough pieces in the draft to fill all our glaring holes.
Really telling about the mentality of the coaches and management if they don’t make some decent F/A moves, and if so they must be really gun shy now when spending on free agency, still time left but so far it’s not looking good when the best F/A’s are gone or going fast….

As far as the chatter on Ryan Jensen Buc fans….Bucs might indeed have a good shot at him, this Bucs fan thinks. Remember that Indy drafted the stud Center Ryan Kelly out of Alabama just 2 years ago, and Ryan might still want to play Center, versus moving to Guard. Tampa likely would let him play Center here, and move Marpet back to stud Guard where he was before!!

Unless the Bucs are highly involved in a well-coordinated con, the Bucs are happy with the progress Ali Marpet has made at center and have no desire to move him back to right guard for the 2018 season. Such a move would be flatly against everything the team has said both publicly and privately.

Ali Marpet graded higher than Ryan Jensen at OC. Ryan Jensen is not the hot commodity that people thought he would be. He only moved to OC after Jeremy Zuttah was traded to the 49ers last season. He was mostly a backup OG for the Ravens.
