Grimes, Bucs Make Deal

March 12th, 2018

Good news!

UPDATED: 3:57 p.m. – He’s back!

The Bucs have come to terms with cornerback Brent Grimes, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief. Welcome back Brent… and Miko too!

It’s a one-year, $10 million deal, which makes sense. Grimes got about 25 percent raise. He had all the leverage in the world with Vernon Hargreaves sinking last season faster than Rays ticket sales and the Bucs having poor depth behind him.

Now it’s time for the Bucs to get another starter on the outside in free agency, a versatile guy like Aaron Colvin of Jacksonville would be a good fit. Or there’s E.J. Gaines of Buffalo. He’s been rumored to be a Bucs target, and Sage columnist Ira Kaufman explains Gaines and three other free agents are good fits when the bell rings Wednesday. (See his column on the home page).

    Brate. 6 yr deal

  2. Joe in Michigan Says:

Glad to have him back, hopefully he has another good/great year left in him!

  3. chargedcbh Says:

Come on Joe you have to speed up!

  4. Bucsfanman Says:

Cool. Lets start adding some depth now.

  5. jerseybuc Says:

Glanton too. You can see that things have been in the works. A good day for Bucs today.

  6. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

Why the hell did they throw SO MUCH cash at Brate?!?!? 18 mill guaranteed??

Unless they are also planning to trade Howard on draft night.

    Go Bucs! Go Barkley!

  7. DBS Says:

Lamarcus just crushed his phone. Glad they got this done!

  8. William Says:

Nice. I hope we plan on signing another CB like Gaines to pair with him. I would imagine we would sign Mathieu if he becomes available as well. I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to sign Suh to go along with McCoy, even though I know that will never happen.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Patience

  10. Lamarcus Says:

    Dbs

Means no Truimane Johnson but we don’t have a choice for Grimes cuz no players will come to Tampa. We are equal to the Browns.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Or, as Tmax says patients…

  12. Costa Rica John Says:

I like the fact the Bucs are bringing back their own free agents first. If you play well for the Bucs they tend to pay appropriately. That should be an incentive for free agents that want to prove their worth.

  13. Lord Cornelius Says:

Will be interesting to see how the deal is structured in terms of incentives. Either way great move.

Now sign another CB who is proven on the outside – preferably younger; and I feel pretty OK about that group for 2018 even if we ignore it in the draft.

In 2019 when Grimes walks you can draft a CB in the top 3 rounds and hope that Ryan Smith / VHIII have developed more by then along with whoever else we can sign this FA period.

  14. Aaron Says:

Great News – but he needs to be our #2 corner…love resigning Brate too

  15. AKick'nTheBucNuts Says:

    Thank goodness.

We needed him more than he needed us.

Now can we develop a CB for the future?

  16. Billybuc Says:

    More on Brate please

  17. JimmyJack Says:

Our need at CB is no longer desperate. The draft is heavy on corners too. Will be interesting to see how they fill out the rest of our backfield. Great move, it opens a lot of options.

  18. Lord Cornelius Says:

Brate reportedly 6 years 41 million; 18 guarenteed.

That’s a lot better than the $7.5 per year PR was suggesting. A $5 mill per year cap hit is nothing for what he brings to the table

  19. Eric Says:

    Very good news.

    Go bucs.

  20. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

Now we are seeing Licht kick it into gear! The players are now seeing that you will be rewarded for good play. More incentive to play well = better on the field results.

    See The Licht!

  21. 813bucboi Says:

so I guess this means more soft/off coverage…….yay!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!!

  22. AlteredEgo Says:

Now draft Denzel Ward and let Grimes School him

  23. OneBucPerson Says:

PFT is stating it’s a 1 year 10 million dollar deal to bring Grimes back, little bit on the steep side for my tastes given his play last year but we’re desperate.

  24. JimmyJack Says:

Costa Rica….Good call. When you resign your own players you know exactly what you’re getting. Free Agency can be a roll of the dice. Flashy names sound nice on paper. but buyers remorse is very real in the NFL. We Buc fans should be well aware of that.

  25. nate123456 Says:

    WHAT ABOUT PASS RUSH?

  26. teacherman777 Says:

    Great news!!!

    I love Brent!

One of the best CB’s of All-Time!!

Look at his career! Always STELLAR!!!

    Go Bucs!!

  27. JimmyJack Says:

Altered……I’m down with that. As long as Chubb and Nelson are taken. Barkley too. Or they could sign another Corner, draft another late and take one of the top Safetys at 7. Not a bad plan either. I gues well have a better idea after the next few weeks

  28. Greg Says:

Absolute idiocy! Can someone explain to me why we drafted OJ Howard if we’re going to give a different tight end that kind of money? The Grimes deal just proves we could not luer in any other free agent. Definition of insanity is to start the same players every year who help you lose every year and expect a different result!

  29. Greg Says:

    Tampa Hali? lol

  30. DB55 Says:

    Shocked and amazed.

  31. Wausa Says:

    Adarius Glanton was signed also

  32. AlteredEgo Says:

JJ…I’m leaning Ward or LB Edwards….even over Nelson who I would be happy with…Barkley and Chubb are most certainly gone…Ward is a tough football player…!!!

  33. Dewey Selmon Says:

10 mil well spent for peace of mind.

  34. JimmyJack Says:

Greg because we run two TE sets. And I guarantee you we will be starting a different player opposite Grimes. And it could be a free agent. I disagree that signing Grimes the Grimes deal proves what you claim

  35. Lamarcus Says:

    Greg

I’m with you. Grimes 10 million a year?

This is the result you get when u are a mediocre team.

  36. Bird Says:

    Huge.

It was obvious miko was playing hard ball

  37. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Awesome tampa love it i can see 6-10 on the horizon, keep up the moves Licht

  38. TrollSlayer Says:

this guy has been one of the best players on this defense and people are complaining! what in the blue hell is going on in bucs fans minds! he earned another contract was a bright spot on a dismal defense and of course all most can do is complain! smh im ashamed at alot of the fan base we have so fickled and tired give it a rest this and brate was excellent re-signings how can anyone complain about having the best 1-2 TE combo in football????? the nerve of some of you

  39. TBTeddy Says:

jimmy I like that idea. Much rather see a veteran player on the other side this year. Theres some good cbs that will go late 2nd probably.

  40. JimmyJack Says:

Altered….What if the Colts trade with the Jets and Chubb is sittingbthrre at 5? Do we trade up with the Broncos then?

Or my dream scenario has Colts trading with the Cards and Chubb drops right to #7

  41. AlteredEgo Says:

Greg….can trade Brate when OJ’s rookie deal is up ….why sign Brate because the game is moving the chains….not 66 yard TD passes….especially with a QB the has struggled with deep ball….Brate has amazing hands….OJ is as fast as most WR’s….

  42. Bucsfanman Says:

It ain’t your money, so stop crying about it!
It means one less issue to contend with, for now.

  43. Rod Munch Says:

Great, now they need to sign at least one FA corner to play #2 AND draft someone highly AND hope VH3 bounces back AND hope Ryan Smith is pushed down #5 on the depth chart. I’d hope they’d just dump Ryan Smith but he is a good special teams guy and it’s clear they’re not going to cut him, so if they’re not going to he needs to be buried on the depth chart and never play defense again.

  44. Marc Says:

    JOE,

You can sign all the DBs you want, none of them will be worth a damn. Who d the current defensive front. Hard to get excited.

    -Pissed off Bucs fan

  45. Pickgrin Says:

$10M is about $2-3M over true market value at 35 years old – so congrats to Brent and Miko for playing it smart.

And congrats to the Bucs for getting Grimes back for at least 1 more year to help develop our young CBs – hopefully he will provide continued high level play for 16 games at that price.

Bit of a risk considering the shoulder problems last year but likely the smartest risk to take on the CB free market – for us at least. We already know how well he fits into the scheme and the locker room so no real concerns paying Brent handsomely for 1 more year aside from age and injury.

  46. Marc Says:

    Behind the current defensive front*^

  47. JimmyJack Says:

call me crazy but Ryan Smith could work hard at his craft and improve over time. Munch you’re right he does need to be hurried on the depth chart. If he improves he could earn himself a few snaps this year so it will be interesting to see if that happens and how he plays

  48. Doctor_berto Says:

Glad we got Grimes back but I’m a little perplexed about the whole Brate extension. Was hoping to see Howard become more of a focal point of the offense. Why did we draft him first round again? Dirk isn’t clever enough to know how to use two tight end sets well.

  49. Joe Blahak Says:

    Great!…now sign clinton mcdonald

  50. Bradinator Says:

Hooray! Welcome back, Brent! We love you here. Maybe get another FA CB to go with him and we’re in much better shape before the draft. Pass rushing DEs are hard to come by in FA and Draft this year unfortunately.

  51. Armybucsfan Says:

That’s awesome that we got Grimes and Brate back but I am surprised that no one is talking about Suh coming to Tampa to pair up with McCoy. Bring in Suh get rid of Clinton McDonald and go balls deep in the draft and do whatever we need to do to get DE Chubbs. If we can somehow pull that off our defense would automatically be transformed. I don’t care about the money I care about the W’s!!!! And for people who say Suh wouldn’t mesh well with the locker room please do me a favor and take your “ momma didn’t stop breast feeding you until you were 48 months mentality” and put on adult diapers because our defense is SOFT!! We haven’t had a aggressive defense since Sapp. Sapp wasn’t a nice guy but he performed on the field. GET THIS DONE TAMPA!!!!

  52. webster Says:

    Suh is officially available

  53. Bird Says:

Called it a month ago 8-10.

Miko is a savage. The twitter comment worked

  54. JimmyJack Says:

Altered……I’ll still take Nelson hands down. I’ve even had a few thoughts he could do more for us then Chubb. Top DEs scare me cause they get o verdrafted and bust sometimes.

I just see Nelson bringing a physicality this team lacks. The guy looks like he goes hard all the time and his physical nature could rub off on both lines when this team prepares. Just think the intangibles he would bring could be huge in changing the culture of his team. Hell, I’m no scout that’s just my two cents

  55. zzbucs Says:

Brate is done as Glanton……10mm 1 year deal for Grimes…… Overpayed!

  56. AlteredEgo Says:

    next….. C Ryan Jensen
    ……….OG Josh Sitton
    move Marpet back to OG
then in the draft concentrate all DEFENSE and a RB

  57. Guzzie Says:

Here’s an idea, let’s just keep the same players we went 5-11 with, what could go wrong

  58. darin Says:

Nice. Congrats Brent!! Great player, great dude. Keep ballin B

  59. Eric Says:

Maybe they are being shrewd and were all a bunch of whiny babies…..

    Always a possibility.

  60. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

    Zzbucs

When you are desperate as we are, there is no such thing as overpaying for a player of Grimes’ talent. And now, we don’t have to worry about what kind of production we will get because we know what to expect for Optimus Grimes.

    See The Licht!

  61. Rod Munch Says:

JimmyJack – Ryan Smith is the worst cornerback I’ve ever seen, ever – I mean ever, at any level, ever. I’ve literally never seen someone that looks more lost than him. Football Outsiders had him ranked I believe 121 out of 122, but I find it impossible to believe anyone could be worse than him. You knew he was a disaster when last preseason, in game 1 in Cincinnati, if I remember correctly he was forced to start and they had him still playing in the 3rd quarter and he still looked terrible – and the deal is he never improved, he looked just as terrible in week 17. That’s not hyperbole either, he’s literally the worst corner I’ve ever seen. He has good speed and is decent at tackling, which he needed since he constantly got burned. McClain, if he came back as a #4 corner, then OK, but Ryan Smith should not see the field as a defender, he’s just absolutely terrible.

  62. 813bucboi Says:

10 mil for a 35year old CB……LOL…..is it Halloween?….did grimes and miko go up to one buc place with a mask on?…lol….the tricks on the glazers…..the treat is for the grimes family…..lol….

so we’re paying 10mil to a guy who was injured most of the season…..his play dipped in production….and was unable to “help develop” VHG and ryan smith….

but now we’re asking him to stay healthy(at age 35) play like he did in 2016 and help smitty and moxie develop the young CB’s…..ok…..sounds like a plan….lol…..

if that’s who they want great…..don’t want to hear anything about depth…or talent….this staff is getting the players they want…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!!

  63. Pepsi Says:

Yes!! were lighting it up so far, Evans first, then Brate, and now Grimes! playoff bound! oh wait.. you mean we’re exactly as good as we were last year so far? oh right…

  64. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Those of you freaking out about 10 mil being a lot for one season. It’s “up to” 10 mil. Meaning that there are probably some performance based bonuses, and if he ends up fulfilling whatever they are I’m sure he’ll be worth it.

  65. JimmyJack Says:

Some people don’t want Grimes because the team went 5-11? My though was th a he was one of the bright spots. I don’t hear nobody saying that about Evans or Brate. Confused

  66. OneBucPerson Says:

@AlteredEgo Love the idea but switch Sitton for Andrew Norwell and we’re all good to go.

  67. Greg Says:

My earlier comment was not so much against Grimes but in shock that we spent that much money on a tight end when we just used a first round pick last year on one. We could have gotten another tight end who is a better run blocker later in the draft for cheap

  68. BetterBuccinBelieveIt Says:

    @chargedcbh…

    lmao. 🙂

    Go Bucs!

  69. SG5821 Says:

    Where is the Brate Post?

  70. JimmyJack Says:

Calm down Munch. Last year is over. He knows he has work to do.

Just let him put his work in and let’s see what happens.

  71. chargedcbh Says:

Bucs To Sign RFA WR Humphries To Second Round Tender

  72. JimmyJack Says:

it’s funny that fans are worried about Grimes making 1 million dollars more then his value.

Just let me know how that hurts the team.

  73. Pickgrin Says:

    Rod Munch says:

” Ryan Smith is the worst cornerback I’ve ever seen, ever – I mean ever, at any level, ever… That’s not hyperbole either”

Geez – we get it – you don’t like Ryan Smith – LOL

I’d say you are largely alone in that “worst ever” assessment though. Smith did struggle early when he got thrown into the fire at outside corner in his “rookie” year – but showed visible improvement throughout the year. No question he improved. The kid just needs reps and more likely than not – in a year or 2 he will be a serviceable NFL CB – back-up level at the very least.

  74. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Quit the whining about money….we will sign another CB or draft one …but now we aren’t as desperate…maybe $2mil too much…but it’s a 1 year deal and Id bet right now we don’t spend all our money anyway

  75. Lord Cornelius Says:

    Some weird reactions on here.

1 – It says he can earn “up to” 10 million. Meaning this is laden with incentive language… The base is likely $5-8 max. Which is perfectly fair value for our best secondary player last year and one of the top 5-10 CBs when healthy.

    2. – NFL teams use 2-3 TEs with regularity. To be mad at signing Brate is akin to being mad at signing Mike Evans and DJax because you think we only need 1 WR in the NFL. Both TEs bring different elements to the offense with different skill sets. We got Brate at a bargain compared to what he might command in FA ($8-10 mill per year vs $5 for us).

    Breathe.

  76. AlteredEgo Says:

Thing about the Grimes deal……..this time next year the Bucs get the 10 million cap space back……………………….

  77. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @AlteredEgo

We know we are stuck with Smith another year and Grimes balls in his defense. Getting him back is a no-brainer at this deal and we can still sign another CB / draft one to groom behind him when he goes off the books next year.

And hell if he’s gone next year and our drafted CBs aren’t panning out it’s $10 mill to throw down on a new one.

  78. JimmyJack Says:

oh Lord Corn just smacked down a bunch of these comments. He ain’t even signed for the 10 million you guys are whining about. And if he does hit 10 that will be a good thing.

  79. JimmyJack Says:

Of course if Dirk gets himself fired our next HC will be saying “I don’t need all these Tight End…..damming why did you idiot let ChuckSimms leave for?!!”

  80. Lamarcus Says:

    I love the Brate deal

Remember Grimes 10 million for a corner that doesn’t even cover the opposite teams #1 receiver with injury questions.

But we are the Bucs ….. Low stantards is King

  81. DBS Says:

Yes Lamarcus. It has left you mentor speechless!

  82. JimmyJack Says:

yeah Brent Grimes isn’t durable. Uneducated view.

  83. NFLNut Says:

I’d have rather had a younger, cheaper DB that could be locked up for 4-5 years, such as EJ Gaines or Brashaud Breeland, etc … but … I also like Grimes and am happy he’s back and think that Licht’s thought process was to sign Grimes to a 1 year deal in the hopes that Hargreaves turns into the next Kyle Fuller and can become the #1 or at least #2 corner in 2019.

  84. BuccaneEric75 Says:

This is the most leverage an non- QB has had over a team that I can remember since Emmit Smith’s holdout. Well played Brent/Miko! Glad he’s back, though. Plenty of cap space for this season.

  85. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Hah! I predicted early last week that we would see this deal by today! Pure luck that I called it…but makes me happy.

He’s not a long term fix, but he is a piece that will help the Bucs break in a new CB through proper development.

Don’t be surprised if another CB is signed though.

  86. Mike Johson Says:

Does Grimes new duties include..Rushing the passer?

  87. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Wonder if they added an option for a second year. As an option, it would cost nothing to the cap unless they chose to exercise it, right?

  88. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Mike Johson Says
“Does Grimes new duties include..Rushing the passer?”

Probably not, but it does give the Bucs more flexibility in the draft to address that issue.

  89. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

LMAO @ OneBuc…..You know who else said it was a one year deal for $10 MIL? Joe in the article….SMH

  90. TampaTown Says:

Congrats Team Grimey! Maybe we can get Miko to play Safety. She doesn’t weigh enough to be a DE. 😂

  91. OneBucPerson Says:

@TouchDownTampaBay LMAO, you know when I wrote that comment? 2:59 when the article didn’t include the details, you know when Joe did update it to include the details? Almost an hour later, maybe if you shake your head some more it’ll correct your vision.

  92. Confused Buc Says:

Soooo we give a 35 year old, injury prone corner $10 million??? I like Grimes but not for $10 mill, that money could’ve went towards a younger more durable corner like Breeland. Grimes is going to make his $10 mill and next year we’ll be right back here talking about DB options once again. Now wih Brate, a deadly red zone target but is he really worth what we gave him considering we spent a 1st round pick on OJ last year, who does a lot of things better than Brate when given the opportunity. Why not trade Brate and fill the holes that need to be filled cuz the TE position isn’t one of them. This guys seem destined to resign the players that keep us in the pits of the NFL as oppose to acquiring better talent and filling holes for the long term…

  93. Chris K Says:

Good deal on a good player.

  94. El_Buc941 Says:

Joe how about instead of trying to get a pass rusher we sign SUH! Him and McCoy will unleash hell and open up chances for Spence and Ayers. He could be the answer to our not existent pass rush.

  95. SOEbuc Says:

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE YEAR $10 MILLION FOR THE 36 YEAR OLD THAT HAD INJURIES LAST YEAR!!!!!!!!! HE WASN’T THAT GOOD HE WAS JUST REALLY GOOD COMPARED TO OUR OTHER BS CORNERS. CRAZY.

  96. Chris in WA Says:

It could have been 12 mil and wouldn’t have made a difference. The Bucs will still end up millions under the Salary cap by the end of FA and still be millions under the cap in 2019 for future monster contracts. Welcome back Grimey!

  97. adam from ny Says:

might be smart to sign Kong Suh

  98. Easy Denman Says:

Im glad Grimes is back. Now lets get a stud like TRumaine Johnson to pair with him.

  99. SOEbuc Says:

Makes me cry to say it but, trade LVD for good CB and nice picks. Roquan Smith at #7.

  100. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I LOVE all of these signings of OUR guys!!! Think of what this says about our team. Apparently there are some anti tmaxes on our roster who believe our team is not that far away…and who amazingly feel Tampa is an excellent place to play and that we are not that far from turning the corner.

Brent Grimes is getting paid but he could have gotten paid elsewhere. Rumors had him with Atlanta for awhile..instant move to contender…apparently Brent likes the Bucs chances. He clearly enjoys his teammates and the organization. This is an old dude with limited years left to go for a ring.

Brate looks as if he gave a hometown discount…ME13 got what was coming to him…

The fact that we are re-signing our good players is a great sign…not just from our talent management perspective but also what it says about how players view playing for the Bucs. I think all of these deals have been pretty close to market rate and nobody held up the Bucs. Most of these deals seem like a win-win for the team and the player. I think Licht is off to a good start.

  101. Capt.Tim Says:

    Finally!! Something intelligent outta OneBuc.
Glad you are staying, Mr. Grimes. We sure need you!
And Hosting Miko for another year is also an added Perk.!
    Love straight shooters!
    Congrats Mr. and Mrs Grimes

  102. Kobe Faker Says:

” Miko aging boy toy would be lucky to make 4 million per from 31 other teams”

    Kobe Faker

  103. Confused Buc Says:

It blows me how ppl didn’t want to pursue a proven pass rusher like Bennett cuz he’s 32 or an aggressive, durable Talib cuz he’s 32, but ppl are happy with this signing and then want to shell out $14-$16 mill per year on Trumaine Johnson?!!?! Ummm where’s the logic? Norwell, Jensen, or Pugh would be better additions right about now cuz Jameis tends turn the ball over when pressure is in his face

  104. Kalind Says:

Lololol I’m happy he’s back but that contract is insane. 20 mil for a rental? What are we buikding towards here? Contrast this move w what the Rams are doing and tell me which team has a plan.

  105. RobertG Says:

One of the best buccaneers defensive player and one of the best corners in the NFL and you fans complain? Same stats as Sherman last few years. I don’t get it.

  106. JimmyJack Says:

Some of you guys are just ridicilous worrying about how much money he is going to make. It’s not going to affect the team at all in any way shape or form……Well a few are also calling him injury prone. I’m not going to look up to definition of injury prone but it’s basically a fact that you’re wrong.

Hey I been wrong about plenty on here and been called out on it but it seems sometimes like a select few will just manifest things to cry and whine about.

  107. Lamarcus Says:

    Sherman brings a winning attitude.

  108. SOEbuc Says:

Why the hell is everyone so happy that we resigned our 36 year old CB that had injuries last year for one year $10 million??? Don’t know if you people remember we had the worst pass defense and overall defense in the league in 2017.

  109. Lamarcus Says:

Top corner in a ranked 32 defense got a raise. U gotta love it.

  110. Bird Says:

It’s “up to “10 mil people.

That means if he doesn’t play in all 16 games , he most likely gets prorated lower number.

  111. OneBucPerson Says:

@Capt.Tim Dang Tim, when did I piss in you cornflakes? Getting it from all directions today…

  112. MadMax Says:

    Yup

  113. Confused Buc Says:

Resign all of the players to handsome contracts that has contributed to this teams continuous under achievements over the last few years… Makes sense! Now I see the light! Never mind guys like Breeland, all pro Norwell, all pro Mathieu(given he’s released)… Lets stick to the script of 6-10, 9-7, 5-11…

  114. John meeks Says:

    Welcome back brent!and miko !

  115. Alanbucsfan Says:

Don’t be in such a hurry to write off Hargreaves
Grimes was a special team player early in his career and was written off by some after an achilles injury
Some players develop at different paces- although a first round pick has high expectations, cornerback is a tough position in NFL

  116. DBS Says:

    SOEbuc
Grimes was born 7/19/1993. That makes him 34 not 36. And when you sign his check and it clears your account please send a copy to Joe. Maybe he will post it for all of us to see.

  117. Gman Says:

Can we kick in another 3 million to shut his racist hate-filled wife up?

  118. ATrain Says:

SUH is coming on the Market!!!!!

  119. AlteredEgo Says:

If the Bucs sign Suh he can room with Evan Smith

  120. SteveK Says:

Great to hear Grimes is back! Baller!

  121. Reverse Joe Says:

    YAAAAAAAAAYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  122. Reverse Joe Says:

    Lamarcus,

Debbie downer! U and Tmaxipad. Damn the Bucs losing has f’ed yall up. Jeez I hate Licht and this regime to but damn I’ll take any good news I can get……frack!!! Whatever, the Bucs will struggle next year so get ready. For so many reasons. But damn give credit when they do the right thing jesus christ.

  123. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

I’m so happy the Bucs are bringing the 5-11 band back together rather than going after the young Pro Bowlers that were available on the cheap.

  124. Issic Haggins Says:

Grimes had better be the #3 corner in early Sept or this D will be terrible again. I mean how many games do they think Grimes is going to play healthy , if they get 10 healthy games it will be a minor miracle. Talib for a seventh is a much much better move and could have been done ? I really appreciate all Grimes has done in the NFL and really enjoy his skill set but if he is anything other than your third or fourth corner at 36 you just are not going to be successful. I’m scared that Jason I backed myself into a corner Licht doesn’t agree with myself and many other common sense posters on here.
I really can’t believe this deal is for ten mil ??

  126. adam from ny Says:

now let’s go get Kong Suh…and make a statement…time to get nasty…there are a handful of guys on this team who want to get nasty…they just need a guy to set it off…McCoy is not that guy…Kong Suh is.

  127. OneBucPerson Says:

@Capt.Tim My bad, got a bit annoyed by a snarky comment I got earlier and thought I was getting piled on, my fault for making username what it is.

  128. Duke Says:

    SOEBUC,

I think everyone is so happy because you said He’s not coming back many times.
    Lol…….get over yourself.

  129. Reach87 Says:

Where is the person who had it on good (almost absolute) authority that Grimes would not re-sign? Patience. Go Bucs!
