Jameis Gets A New Title: Dad

February 5th, 2018

What an offseason it has been for America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston.

It seems like only yesterday Jameis was a big-talkin’ potential draft pick barking about how he wasn’t competing with Marcus Mariota to be the No. 1 overall selection by the Bucs, but was preparing to duel with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning for Super Bowls.

Now Jameis is a 24-year-old veteran of three NFL seasons with a baby on the way. (Where does the time go?) And Jameis’ beloved Eagles just won the Super Bowl.

Yes, Jameis and his live-in girlfriend seen on Hard Knocks, Breion Allen, announced yesterday that she is pregnant with a boy. You can see the video here on Jameis’ Instagram account.

“So blessed and humbled that now there is a life coming that I must protect, inspire and influence everyday. This is motivation for excellence in everyway!” Jameis wrote.

With Jameis already knowing the sex of the baby, it seems the new Winston is likely to arrive during Bucs training camp this summer.

As passionate as Jameis is about family, Joe is sure Jameis will be distracted from his work by the new baby. He’ll have to adjust to remain the incredibly dedicated football player he has been. But many great QBs have done it, so Joe is not concerned.

Cam Newton has two toddlers with his longtime girlfriend, and Matt Ryan is expecting his first children, twins, later this year.

Congrats, Jameis!

Let’s see Jameis set the bar as a role model and as an athlete for his son to advance over. Congrats Jaboo and Bre!

  3. SteveK Says:

    Congratulations Jameis!

You’re going to be a great dad.

Now show you’re future son what a Super Bowl run looks like!

Pulling for #3, I know he wants it more than most.

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

Great for Jameis and his lady.. There were probably many more peoples around the world making that same announcement yesterday. If only this could equate to us winning more games….

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo is happy to see Haboo using his elongated arc for something other than football….Pablo uses his way too much….that’s why Pablo has so many, many, many childrens. Pablo wonders if Hamus will call his son “Hamus Hunior”

  6. tmaxcon Says:

Happy for jameis. Now hopefully he can find a way out of Tampa and away from the glazers so he has a shot at winning someday. No chance at winning with this crapshow franchise with ZERO hope for the future

  7. AlteredEgo Says:

Happy for the soon to be dad…..

  8. Wausa Says:

I’m happy for Jameis. He’s a guy with such a great and caring heart. I have no doubt he will be a great Dad!

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Congratulations Jameis!!!!!!

With the way this guy works with kids, I know he’ll be a great father.

    Now marry the girl, Jameis.

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Jaboo Two. Cool, lol.

  11. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

As any father here will agree, having kids matures men immensely. The difference between me as a non-father and now is night and day.

  12. Grt1 Says:

Congrats Jameis nothing like being a sports dad

  13. MadMax Says:

Awesome! Congrats JW3, hope everything goes well and he’s a healthy baby 🙂

  14. Negative Jeff Says:

He’s going to be a great Dad! Wishing them a healthy baby more than anything.

  15. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Congrats JW!!!!

  16. Hodad Says:

This girl has stuck with Winston through some tough times. She has been with him since FSU, and the latest Uber mess. From what I saw of her on Hard Knocks I thought she was a fantastic lady. Now as Bonzi said, Mr. Winston do the right thing, and Marry her! Show other young men that it’s not enough just being called Dad, but that being called husband matters also. You have a long ways to go to improving your image. Getting a girl pregnant, then not marrying her might do you more harm, then good. Time to step up to the plate young man!

  17. LifeOfABucFan Says:

    Agree Hodad!!!!

  18. Pawel Says:

This is real good for him because now he will be even that more mature and can settle down.

  19. Pickgrin Says:

This is great news. Congratulations Jameis.

And I just had an interesting thought…

Most any man who has a child or children will tell you that he himself became more mature once fatherhood set in. Less “wild” – less “unpredictable”. Decisions and their potential outcomes become more of a consideration once a man has children – because we realize – “I’m not just making decisions for myself anymore – I’m making decisions that effect my family as well”.

See where I’m going with this….

Perhaps since fatherhood will likely help Jameis naturally become more “measured” in his personal decisions – we will see that “maturity” with “decision making” find its way onto the football field on Sundays as well….

Just a thought. How good will this guy be if/when he vastly reduces the ‘immature/trying too hard’ plays and sticks largely to taking what is available – only pushing the envelope on key downs or in key situations where a higher degree of “risk” is mandated?

A running game and more solid Oline play would certainly help Winston achieve that level of “maturity” on the field as well.

Arrow is still pointing WAY up with this young QB IMO. Good things are on the horizon for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Jameis under center.
    VERY GOOD things!

  20. Duke Says:

    Pickgrin,

Well said! It should also change the company He keeps. If you have children it’s more likely your free time is spent with other parents. IOW, it’s a better crowd with less tolerance for immature antics.
Pick gotta agree with you, I think that his maturation will translate onto the field.

  21. Duke Says:

    @Joe,

Just thought you guys might mention that a local product not only made it to the super bowl but threw a TD pass. Nice to see a local kid do well.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

If I’m Alabama I’m already scouting her womb.

  23. NFLNut Says:

As a Biblical Christian I don’t condone fornication but ALL babies are blessings from God and I am thrilled for both Jameis and Breion as I know what joy a child can bring, never mind how such a blessing can also make one a better human being and even instill a newfound determination to live a life of character in the new parent.

As for football … this doesn’t really have anything to do with football, which to me, is a good thing as it helps people remember that these “players” are actual people who live real lives and have responsibilities and passions outside the “game”.

    CONGRATS JAMEIS & BREION!

P.S. To the posters who said now Jameis needs to marry Breion … I wouldn’t demand such of anyone as it’s not my place but I will say that I think Breion has shown herself to be an extremely loyal woman with a good head on her shoulders … and she’s also smart, athletic, beautiful and a hard worker, so she’s certainly worthy of “putting a ring” on her finger 🙂

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

    Congratulations! 🙂

  25. NFLNut Says:

    RodMunch,

The Alabama comment was hilarious and you actually have a point … a child from the most statistically accomplished QB of his age in football history who also had a MLB arm as a pitcher, and a woman who played D1 basketball … that baby has the genes of a Greek god!

I always thought the perfect athletic specimen would have been born out of a union of LeBron James and Serena Williams, but they obviously already have their own mates … in real life, Jameis and Breion may be creating a future Hall of Famer in whatever sport the young man decides to focus on … or a doctor, lawyer, politician, pilot, etc … it’s not all about sports, but my oh my, what athletic genes 🙂

  26. SOEbuc Says:

Really happy for you Jameis. Feel like he is gonna be good dad and is gonna turn that boy into a Jameis #2 when it comes to athleticism.

  27. SOEbuc Says:

Also feel like Jameis becoming a father is gonna help him to continue maturing in every way including football. WIN THE 2019 SUPER BOWL FOR YOUR NEW BABY BOY JAMEIS!!!…and Bucs fans.

  28. DB55 Says:

I’ll happily marry breezy boo if jameis needs help!

  29. Rod Munch Says:

NFLNut – With Jameis as the kids father, well assuming it’s a boy, you’d expect some elite arm talent, and you’d expect Jameis, with his energy and drive and excitement, to get that kid hyped about football. Never know, the kid might rebel against his dad and want nothing to do with football, but I’m guessing that probably won’t be the case. Also his girlfriend had some great accuracy playing hoops, so maybe you get Jameis 2.0 with improved everything. Never know, but congrats to the both of them.

  30. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I’m with you Hodad. If Jameis doesn’t marry her what name goes on the birth certificate. I honestly do not know and I concede I’m a bit old fashioned when it comes to kids. I have no problem with “living in sin”…did it with my present wife for two years before we decided to get married. Nothing wrong with a test drive LOL…apologies to strict Christians. But kids change everything.

    @Rod

So did you see the most recent Bryant Gumbel Real Sports. A world class bodybuilder fell in love with his wife because of her athletic genes. He wanted athletic children. He’s like a classy version of that moron with the basketball kids. He has three sons who all play Div I football and will probably play WR in the NFL.

These kids are special. He’s had them lifting weights since 6 and he’s fed them the same health food he ate as a bodybuilder…he was a world champion btw.

But it gets better. While he’s been obsessed with their athletic careers his mother has been just as demanding with their academics. All three of the kids speak a second language. She sent them to France for a summer so they could really become proficient. And the kids actually seem normal unlike the idiot Ball family. These kids are not likely to be shoplifting.

  31. Bucsdobe Says:

Everyone is assuming that Jameis is the holdout on marriage when, in fact, it may be Breion who is happy with things the way they are! She appears to be very self aware and confidant. Whatever the facts are, it is totally their business! Congratulations to both parents!
