Triggering The Jameis Haters
December 29th, 2017Joe is guessing some of the hysterical fans who want America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, run out of town tonight likely threw their phones into the Gulf when reading this Tweet.
Former NFL cornerback and current NFL draft analyst for NFL Network Bucky Brooks has paid close attention to Jameis of late. And for the folks who despise Jameis, Brooks apparently believes this rabble is just blinded by fumbles and sideline tantrums.
@BuckyBrooks: I’ve said that on multiple occasions. Winston has career-highs in completion %, TD:INT ratio and passer rating. Sure, he needs to exhibit better emotional control and clean up his fumble issues but JW put plenty of good things on tape.
Jameis isn’t why the Bucs are losing since he returned to the lineup after his shoulder was healed.
In fact, one could make the argument that Jameis is playing so well of late, it can only help Dirk Koetter in his quest for job security.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:17 pm
Or argue with that good a QB we should never be 4-11….
December 29th, 2017 at 2:19 pm
Yeah, fumbling issue that has never changed and probably never will…no pocket awareness…He could go on and be a star but when the biggest game of his life in the Pros comes up, it will most likely be this old habit that will bring the whole team to a crash…fumbleitis
December 29th, 2017 at 2:20 pm
Eric:
Unless Jameis can also play defensive end — as horrible as the Bucs are with a pass rush, that’s not so crazy of a thought — not much he can do about the defense constantly yakking on themselves in the fourth quarter in close games.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:21 pm
How about the garbage defense, no running game and 3 starting o lineman out and still almost beat falcons and panthers by himself
December 29th, 2017 at 2:23 pm
??????????????????
That may be one of his best traits.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:24 pm
JW will be getting a 3rd HC before age of 24. Never heard of that.. We must be worse than Browns. Even the browns are willing to keep their 1 and 30 w/l coach for the sake of stability. I’m in for Koetter and stop the BS Gruden talk. Or any other coach for that matter. I know for sure if any other coach comes they will lose and then fans will turn on him too and want Gruden gone.
Glazer’s if u hear me stop thinking like ur fans and be owners and stick behind a guy.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:26 pm
Just imagine what Jameis could do without having a sh!tty play caller!
December 29th, 2017 at 2:30 pm
The Bucs have the 31st ranked defense, 27th ranked rushing offense along with the worst 3rd down defense and worst pass defense in the NFL while also having poor special teams play and poor clock management. A reasonable person would conclude that those are the largest contributing factors as to why the Bucs are 4-11.
The 10th ranked QB with a 96.5 passer rating along with the Bucs having the 4th most passing yards in the NFL is probably not where any logical thinker would place blame at on the Bucs atrocious record this year.

How dare you use logic and reason on this website!!! 🙂
December 29th, 2017 at 2:34 pm
Pocket awareness and ball security are two different things. Jameis has excellent pocket awareness, it’s why he escapes so many sacks with the way he rolls around in the pocket and creates time. Ball security needs to improve, and that is something that can easily improve with work – and the kid still has only played year round football for just 2 years.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:39 pm
His last couple of games have had me change my tune a little. Im not hating his play anymore. Now his immaturity, yes, but not his play.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:42 pm
No pocket awareness
—————————
Just goes to show….I often wonder if your readers watch the games or if they listen to it on the radio. It’s a joke quite frankly.
All week your dummies have been talking about turnovers, but not ONCE do they mention the jail house breaks Carolina dline got on Jameis. Jameis was under assault all day some within .5 seconds of the snap often getting crushed by 3 panthers as if Peppers alone isn’t bad enough.
The fact that Jameis can throw or run or even walk for that fckn matter is a miracle In itself. 6 fckn sacks AGAIN and you bums are complaining about a lost fumble?!?!
Toooo fckn stupid the whole lot of you …… and wait til I start on the dline. Saw some very interesting things last night Joseph some you may not like.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:49 pm
On a positive note: Jaboo can really move that ball between the 20 yard lines. 5 trips to the red zone by like the early 3rd qrt if memory serves me correctly.
And for all those talking about boneheaded play I ask you if the bomb to Humphries was boneheaded bc he was a millisecond away from getting sacked, fumbling or getting picked.
Jaboo is too great, forged in the fire of champions to be brought down by the Browns of the South. Will never happen but good luck trying.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:52 pm
I’m just saying a good coach should be a lot better than 4-11 at the present moment, given the talent on the team.
December 29th, 2017 at 2:53 pm
rush awareness then, i should have said…the fumbles are caused by his inability to FEEL the rush and have a light come on and say get rid of it NOW or take the friggin sack for cripes sake…
December 29th, 2017 at 2:53 pm
to the REALISTS
Jameis playing well isn’t a excuse to keep koetter
Unless you want to score under 20 points for 4 years straight……..
I mean if jameis was playing bad people who still say koetter cant make plays for jameis
so that argument cant hold much water…..scoring under 20 points to average for 3 years DOES!!!!!
and that is costing games when the D does show up like last game and a few more
It also cost your 9-7 team from going 10-6……SCORE ……PERIOD
December 29th, 2017 at 2:54 pm
people would still* typo
December 29th, 2017 at 2:54 pm
Those garbage time yards, short pass plays against teams leading and playing soft defenses, and completions percentages really do add up and are very misleading. Another big reason that stats are for LOSERS
December 29th, 2017 at 2:54 pm
By the way Joe just like I said after the game the fumbled snap was not on Jameis it was on the center and it was confirmed yesterday by the head coach during his press conference. The first one, no matter what you say, was not all on Jameis as he was hit while throwing the ball! On the Ira podcast it was said the sack/fumble was his fault yet you give credit to McCoy for his sack when Cam held that ball for much much longer. Please be consistent cause if that sack/fumble was on Jameis then that sack that McCoy got was on Cam and the coverage not some great play by McCoy. On the flip side if that was McCoy “making a big play” then that sack/fumble is not on Jameis and people need to look at the o-line, you cant have it both ways cause he held the ball much less time than Cam did on the McCoy sack.
December 29th, 2017 at 3:01 pm
@Brianbucs you are obviously not watching the same last four games as the rest of Bucnation. Garbage time yards and short pass plays against soft defenses?!?!? SMH
December 29th, 2017 at 3:03 pm
Jameis will be fine. It is the lousy coaching and play calling he has to overcome.

You been watching film, good for you.
Riddle me this, true or false? McDonald and Baker are the strength of the dline.
McDonald and Baker are all over the place plus the actually hold their gaps on short yardage. And imo the def plays lights out when they’re on the field.
Then softie mcsoftserve comes in and it all goes to chit. True story

Was talking about the entire year as Brooks was
The last 2 games Koetter has installed a short, safe passing game for Jameis so he won’t overthrow into pics, hold the ball too long or have time for bonehead plays. The Bucs have still only scored 40 points in those games putting pressure on the weak defense. And the fumbles are worse than pics because the other team gets the ball right there. Stats are misleading and useless. The only stat that matters is the W which Jameis only has 2 of this year
December 29th, 2017 at 3:18 pm
The biggest issue that I currently see with Jameis is obviously the outbursts. He has to get better at controlling his emotions but 2nd he has to continue to improve on learning when to give up on a play. Most of the fumbles stemmed from trying to make a play when there’s nothing there or holding the ball a split second too long waiting for guys to get open rather than checking it down or throwing it away. Those issues are correctable.

Sorry, but I’m a Nole, Thundering Herd, and Bucs fan
December 29th, 2017 at 3:22 pm
Buc fans don’t be surprised if Koetter is back next and I am sure Jameis isn’t going anywhere. After seeing T Bowle sign an extension in New York don’t be surprised if Koetter is here next year. Things like this usually trends in the NFL. When some guy we are sure to get fired doesn’t it’s sure to be a couple more with the same faith and I think Koetter could be one of those

Impossible. I’ll need you to slap yourself at least 3 times please and ty.
December 29th, 2017 at 3:34 pm
Agree with the posters here.
Its not his pocket presence – he is own of the most elusive pocket passes that you can find in the whole NFL. Elite even.
Its his awareness when it comes to “how much time do I have to get off my throwing motion while 8 players are bearing down on me cause my oline sucks”
He can make people miss who are coming in at 100mph, he can spin and create magic, but if the rush is too much to escape even for his elite pocket presence, he misjudges his ability to still get the ball out of his arm.
Plus he got them butter fingers in general. Forget to wipe his hands off after eating the W? or maybe it was from dipping the crab legs in too much butter?
JK I love jameis. just couldnt help myself
December 29th, 2017 at 3:36 pm
They wanted #WeaponsForWinston#, they got what they wanted.
They didn’t want another RB,DE, you get what you pay for. They didn’t pay for a decent DE,CB,RB,OL. They payed for a high octane, vertical passing game. Which is useless in the Red Zone , when the field get smaller. This is why they’re 4-11.
December 29th, 2017 at 3:47 pm
a job of a qb is to be an accurate passer and score points. Winston cant throw the long ball and and can’t pass in the red zone. Winston won 2 games as the 2nd string qb also did. Nothing to brag about.

December 29th, 2017 at 3:59 pm
When you can’t run the football you will struggle in the red zone. Thats football 101. Of course our coach is hell bent on running it in the red zone and leaving us in a 3rd and obvious situation. If we are inside the ten yard line and we wish to score we need to throw 3 straight downs. He has not figured that out.
December 29th, 2017 at 3:59 pm
if you think Fitz had anything to do with those wins than you are a blind fool.
The better team won in both cases. We played garbage teams and the defense won those games. go back and watch and see how pitiful the offense is compared to Winston leading.
I have seen this argument constantly and its one of the dumbest I have ever seen. Open your eyes

2017 NFL Salary Cap
Browns: $102,346,421
49ers: $76,963,264
Jaguars: $70,979,709
Buccaneers: $66,136,718
The Jaguars spent their money wisely and earned a playoff berth
Jason Licht wasted the Bucs money on TRASH
He could have released some vets and created more space

You take the cake as having written one of the dumbest comments on this site. Congrats.
December 29th, 2017 at 4:19 pm
BrianBucs:
It absolutely does fall on the GM.
Overall I think Licht has done pretty a good job drafting and bringing in college free agents(The Aguayo, Spence and Hargreaves picks do not look too good right now though). But I think he has done an awful job filling holes on this team. It was very obvious before the season the Bucs had a terrible group of running backs and subpar defensive ends. The two weakest areas of the team were not attempted to be upgraded(6th round RB pick doesn’t really count in my book).
Additionally, Jason Licht has done very poorly with bringing in pro free agents with lone exception being Brent Grimes.
I think the Bucs are in a tough spot with what to do at GM and head coach.
I like both gentlemen and the Bucs have been destroyed with injuries this year and some bad luck in the kicking game. However, even without the injuries and bad kicking game the Bucs have the worst group of running backs and defensive ends in the NFL. I’d have to say that is the fault of the GM.
The Bucs had a lot of holes to fill four years ago but they should not have so many still.
If I am the Glazers I would need a really good explanation from Jason Licht as to why those areas of the team have been so poorly mishandled.
December 29th, 2017 at 4:23 pm
@Brian Bucs
The only stats that matter for qbs are wins? So why do they trot out 21 other starters on the field? Are they completely irrelevant?
December 29th, 2017 at 4:32 pm

So you would rather have a losing team with a QB that puts up decent numbers than a championship football team? REALLY?

Message from Jameis1of1
———————————–
Jameis Winston:
67.0% completion percentage / 311.4 passing yards per game / 2.0 passing TDs per game / .67 Interceptions per game / 108.2 passer rating
Tom Brady:
67.5% completion percentage / 292.5 passing yards per game / 2.0 passing TDs per game / .53 Interceptions per game / 104.2 passer rating
ALSO … Jameis’ FULL SEASON stats, including all the games he played with an injured throwing shoulder … he has a BETTER completion percentage AND a BETTER passer rating than Russell Wilson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had Jameis stayed healthy and if this team had a defense, we’d be 10-5 and Jameis would be in the MVP race as he’d be leading the league in passing yards per game and would have a higher passer rating than Brady!

@Joe … “Wausa: How dare you use logic and reason on this website!!! 🙂
Logic and reason Joe? How about misrepresentations instead? Bucs do NOT have “the 31st ranked defense” in the NFL. Unless of course Wausa’s buying into your fantasy that YARDS wins football games instead of POINTS. Bucs have the 24th ranked defense in the league in terms of POINTS ALLOWED, and the 20th ranked offense in terms of POINTS SCORED.
Fact is that Jameis is PART of the Bucs’ overall problem. So is the run game. So is the defense, especially in terms of pass rush & pressuring the QBs. OTS of work for Jason Licht to do this off-season. Or whoever his replacement is.

Stop apologizing for a failed heartless defense led by the pos crying clown cancer93…. you can not defend the blowouts, blown leads and gmc giving up the booty on run plays…
December 29th, 2017 at 4:46 pm
I rather have Cam Newton stats and Carolina 11-4 record instead of Jameis Winston stats and the Bucs 4-11 record.
December 29th, 2017 at 4:52 pm
^ Yes and Jameis may rather have Cam Newton’s DEFENSE and COACHING STAFF
By the way … Case Keenum, Blake Bortles and Joe Flacco all have higher winning percentages than AARON RODGERS this year, so Packers fans of your ilk could stupidly say, “I’d rather have Blake Bortles and the Jags record than Aaron Rodgers and his 4-3 record” … STUPID.
December 29th, 2017 at 4:53 pm
^ If JAMEIS was having Cam’s year in regards to “stats” … the Bucs might be 0-15 … Cam is nowhere near the passer that Jameis is … but he sure has a whole lot better defense!
December 29th, 2017 at 4:55 pm
Yeah but Cam is Carolina leading rusher. Cam Newton is the Carolina Panthers offense. He is the engine that makes the train go. Carolina will be nothing without Cam, like they were last season when he was hurt.
December 29th, 2017 at 5:03 pm
^ Lakeland … you’re right … but he’s still nowhere near the passer that Jameis is and Jameis still doesn’t have Carolina’s defense.
I honestly think if you flipped the QBs, the Panthers would be better with Jameis as they would give the carries (as they should anyways) to Stewart/McCaffery/Samuels and Jameis would be a far better passer … and the Bucs would be worse as the Bucs are built around the passing attack and Cam simply is nowhere near the passer that Jameis is.
I mean, put Aaron Rodgers on the Jags … and the Jags are probably winning a ring this year … yet Blake Bortles has a better winning percentage on the Jags TEAM this year than Aaron Rodgers has on the Packers TEAM this year.
You know everything I say is 100% accurate … I’m just waiting for you to come around bro.

I will give Jameis Winston credit, he’s a pure passer. One of the best I have ever seen. But he’s on the wrong team, Jason Licht will never build a complete team around him. If Jameis was replacing Big Ben in Pittsburgh. I would say that he would have a shot at the Hall of Fame. But that won’t happen in Tampa.

Most the haters are just angry Gator fans.
December 29th, 2017 at 7:20 pm
In the first 4 games of the season the Patriots were 2-2 . The fans were not happy with a 2-2 start and they were screaming for Garoppolo to replace Brady . Our “quarterback” is 2-10 and you guys support him . Losing mentality = losing team . That’s the difference between the mentality of the two franchises . Look what the 49er’s have done since Garoppolo joined , he doesn’t fumble and make stupid decisions on top of it .

Lakeland … most of your recent posts have been very sensible and I can appreciate where you’re coming from.
I agree that if Ben Roethlisberger were to retire this year and the Steelers were to complete a trade for Jameis that his chance at the HOF could be improved greatly as the Steelers are one of the two best run franchises in the NFL with quality owners.
However … I don’t think any sensible fan who knows the history of QBs and the like can deny that Jameis is on a HOF track right now; he’s just setting so many records and came into the league at such a young age that his career stats, barring serious injury, are probably going to be mind-blowing. I do agree with you that if he plays his entire career with the Bucs, who are one of the worst franchises in the NFL, that he may NEVER win a ring (like Tarkenton, Marino and Jim Kelly) … he may NEVER even get to play in a Super Bowl (like Dan Fouts and Warren Moon) … but, while that would be a real shame, it didn’t stop those five QBs I just listed from each making the Hall of Fame … and none of them were as talented as Jameis or came into the league at as young an age as Jameis … Marino had even more arm talent but nowhere near the athleticism, leadership or drive and Tarkenton had more athleticism but nowhere near the arm talent … and Moon had the total package but got such a horribly late start to his career while Kelly and Fouts just were not on Jameis’ level as a pure talent.
I’m starting to see that you and I agree on more than I thought we did … but I’m still all-in on Jameis’ HOF future … I just hope the Buccaneers can turn into a real organization before his career ends.
