Wasted beasting
Two critical plays in last night’s game were fitting examples of the Bucs’ season.
First was the horror outlined by BSPN cameras on the Falcons’ first touchdown.
Joe saw it this morning, via this link. It’s third down on the Bucs’ 6 yard line and the Falcons are closing out a drive. Touchdown, Justin Hardy! Your Bucs had only 10 players on the field, which is inexcusable at any time, but especially at home in December.
This is a veteran Bucs coaching staff. C’mon.
And later via the same link, you’ll see Devonta Freeman run up the gut at the Bucs’ 1 yard line, but he was stripped by Robert Ayers, who came flying in for the forced fumble at the goal line. Somehow, Justin Evans had a clear shot at the loose ball and missed it. Recovery and touchdown Atlanta.
So much about this season makes Joe want to throw his hands in the air, drink harmful quantities of beer or hide under the covers for 48 hours.
Last night didn’t soothe any of that angst, though it was nice to see America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, protect the football and look like a No. 1 overall draft pick.

@ Joe, I agree with the frustration of the season. But I can’t do the negative from last night. I am going to take the smaller positives collectively and the fact that we didn’t embarrass ourselves on National Television, and say this was a step in the right direction. There is something to build on. I understand your points, but there were positives seen last night. Barber, OL, Auclair, LBs, Jameis, and others played better or great.

That was he second fumble by Atlanta that they recovered.. let’s not forget two defensive players colliding on a would-be sack, only to have Matty run for a first down and our player getting carted off the field

Ground hog day! That’s how predictable this team has been for the last decade. Slow start; come back to make it close; lose in the end. Repeat! Repeat! Repeat!

Need to follow the British slogan: Stay Calm, Carry On……
Nothing a fan can do about a close loss or any loss, I do believe the Monday Night performance provided future hope that this team is capable of playing a lot better……how impressive was the makeshift offensive line? Did anyone really miss Sweezy after he went out?? They got enough pressure on Matt Ryan to make him uncomfortable quite often……
Liked what I saw last night……there is hope so Joes, forget about the alcohol remedy, Stay Calm, Carry On.

that last paragraph is what i woke up this morning thinking. like man that game last night did nothing for me when it comes to this season and this team as a hole. it was really just a good game to sum up how the season has gone for the bucs. unfortunate injuries left & right, terrible defense, no pass rush whatsoever , missed opportunities, terrible coaching & play calling mixed in with moments of good play calling. & some questionable officiating. but the biggest takeaway from this game i got is that jameis is not going to let the media win. the media on a national and local level is on a mission to tear this guy down and prevent him from being a starting qb. the narratives i’ve been hearing all week is jameis has regressed, he’s a bust, bucs can’t win with jameis at qb too many turnovers etc. jameis goes out on a national stage and finally show cases his abilities to a national audience and shows what he is really about . if they could’ve pulled of the win it wouldve easily his best game as a buc. giving the talent differential on both teams, the injuries on this team and the fact that we lost the turnover battle (1-0) when those things i just mentioned are all a factor your team is almost guaranteed to get beat and get beat handily. the difference is jameis. when you have a qb with that kind of ability they find ways to make plays to keep your team in the game and ultimately win the game in the end. it’s what aaron rodgers has been doing in green bay for years. jameis showed us in a time when maybe some of us needed to be reminded again that he has the ability to be that type of qb. now we just need to build a team around him to make sure he isn’t always having to play lights out to give us a chance.

Positives? You kiddin me? PLEASE!! WE LOST. But thats the Buc fan mentality. Enjoying nice spirals in the air, Moral vistories, great QB play..every Got deeyham thing but a..VICTORY!!! Please select a rimming nack with our 1st pick so we can score 40 then continue to lose by 1. Matty Ice looked like the staue of Liberty for 3 qtrs, glowing and untouched. Even the commentators were going, man..no pass rush at all! I loathe Losers!!!

the only positive was that Winston played lights out….besides that we embarrassed ourselves yet again….
-dirk failing to call time out was yet another one of his coaching 101 mistakes that cost this team a win….I was at the game….falcon fans were laughing at us saying,”that’s why we let them(dirk and smitty) go”….that was one of the dumbest coaching mistakes this year…..
not getting blown out was a positive but we still lost another game that we should’ve won because of poor coaching….the defensive gap integrity was horrible all night….freeman ran at will….this team is no closer to being able to play with the rest of the teams in out division under dirk….he is not HC material….GO BUCS!!!!

Who knew Ryan was such an elusive runner in the open field? How many wiffs on him that allowed first down conversions?
Brooks likely threw up. Those guys shut down Michael Vick repeatedly.

There is NOTHING postive about 4 good years out of 42… bucs will never win another playoff game with glazers calling shots.. they have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can not run a sports franchise

Plenty of examples of the Bad News Bucs on defense last night. 10 men on 3rd and goal! Glanton and Ayers colliding… Ryan runs ofr a first down. Who knew Ryan was so elusive? Not pouncing on loose balls. Then there’s letting Freeman do whatever he wanted. He was rarely touched before the secondary. Tandy looking helpless in the open field against 24 was a bad look.

defense played bad to semi ok IF they would of converted those turnovers
but my thing is some of yall ….don’t think just like Atlanta’s offense WON them the game inspite of their defense (lets be real Miami beat this years Atlanta)
cant the offense score over an average of 20 points a game once …..3 years now !!!!

Matt Ryan only runs against us. And he’s done it the last 4 times we’ve played the falcons now. We have gaping holes in the short-intermediate center of the field all the time with this defensive scheme. And even slow footed QBs like Ryan can quickly gash us for 10+ yard runs.
Obviously we had a lot of players out last night, but it’s been happening for 2 years.

Yah, that Matt Ryan running wild on us every time we play made me realize I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue. Hard to contain a QB when our stunts have our guys running into each other like someone just yelled “fire” in a crowded movie theater. I want to believe that “injuries” are the issue, but I can’t swallow that lie anymore. Every one of these guys made it to the NFL when 99% of their college buddies didn’t. Our D-line belies the saying “even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile”. It’s the same horror show, with or without Gerald McCoy and Noah Spence.

oddly enough the team and coaches seemed to have the post game demeanor of a victory….i guess they were inherently proud they didn’t get blown out on national tv?…such a jolly group post loss…kinda sad to see…a loss is a loss when looking back at the season

Damn that one hurt. Keith slipping and the Ref slippping sure had a negative impact on the outcome. Tandy finally plays and our defense actually looked pretty good last night. Bucsfanman see what I been saying about #37!!!! Smith should be made to apologize to Tandy publicly for not playing him this season….. Might not be or shall I say would not have been 4 & 12! Conte played very good also.

Actually, there were quite a few embarassments on national TV, though I was there live. The tackling was so bad, even Matt Ryan looked like an elusive RB. “Keystone cops” for you other old coots out there. I thought to myself how hard they played, how close the game was, and for a short time, didn’t feel so bad. But then I reminded myself they need to play like this every game; there are no kudos because you “play hard.” These are supposed to be professionals. Last year, they won the close ones; this year they lost them. It’s still 10 losses. I expected this one to be close. I do not feel the same way about the one in CAR next week.

we need to face the facts that TJ Ward needs to go–dude is done balling–not worth the money or the aggravation, like Joe said, he would be just as effective without arms, cannot wrap up to save his life. Tandy is at least a serviceable backup, J.Evans should be on the field fulltime to get experience as kid has potential and a future. Conte is a serviceable backup also-he had a nice high point pass breakup on JJ
