America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, delivered quite a passionate rant defending, praising and feeling for Dirk Koetter after last night’s loss to the Falcons.
Man, it was something.
Jameis was asked by JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman how the Bucs playing hard to the final whistle last night reflects how the team feels about its head coach.
“We love our head coach. Our head coach sets our morals,” Jameis said of Koetter. “And his main thing is compete. And you can see it through every one of those guys in there. You know, every time he steps up in a meeting and he posts a slide show of what is our objective, ‘passion, you know, competitiveness, mental toughness.’ He’s instilled that in us. Some of the guys have that in themselves. But we got a coach, man. And when you’re trying to lead men. You know, these are men who have families; some don’t. But when you got a guy who comes back to work consistent like him, you know, I love my coach. And that’s why I was so disturbed that someone would bring something up to try to distract us. You know, and that just adds fuel to our fire in a way. Because we got so much respect for our coaches, not just Coach Koetter, for our coaches on this team because they work their ass off. And I just hate for them that the results of our play or the season, you know, is on them when, quite frankly, it’s on the players. It’s on us.”
Not much more for Joe to add. Powerful stuff there from Jameis. And it’s very interesting that he appeared to go back to the eight-day-old report from NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, who firmly claimed there’s a rift between Jameis and Koetter.

Stop looking at the trees…the team battled hard, wounded, short handed and with all the odds against them. They played passionately!! They stayed in it with no PASS RUSH!!!!
Realistically…a bird can’t fly with one wing! It’s DEFENSE time to get what is missing! We will be a winning team when both OFFENSE and DEFENSE have a full arsenal…GO BUCS!

Ofcourse the defense has to do more. While jameis is not perfect, its clearly not his fault. He is by far our best playmakers on this team

Dirk Koetter did not have Winston’s back. What to make of posters feeling good about this loss because Wiston played well…? The result is the same.

I’m for giving Koetter another year….and yes, I was in favor of giving Lovie another year….I simply hate churning coaches….I do think the team is playing very hard and that usually means the team is motivated and that’s on coaching.
Yes, he is making mistakes and had a terrible season….and didn’t measure up to expectations but lets get him a defense and see what happens.
We need 2 DEs and a CB…..we’ve got the LBs and are OK at safety (by the way, Conte played great last night)

I saw something last night i haven’t seen hardly at all this season, they played with true Grit, grinding out plays especially after injury after injury. If they can only play with that kind of drive all year. I don’t like losing but a well played true effort game. And like most games this year i wish we could get that fumble/turnover back, C’mon Barber, he played a great game besides that. Im in favor of keeping Koetter but please give up your duties as O.C. I think it’s too much for a first time head coach to handle both, I’m still in favor of letting Smitty go, to little to late.

Tbbf- I could not, for the life of me, figure out why TJ Ward was in the game at all! He must have spare ankles on the sideline because Freeman snapped at least 3 of ’em!
The lip service is laughable. This team is now 4-10. THERE ARE NO MORAL VICTORIES IN FOOTBALL!

SAVE IT JW!!! JUST ZIP YOUR LIPS!!! Every time now this guy speaks something ridiculous comes out. Maybe he should worry more about trading defense s and less about trying to deliver some over hyped speech. Kid can play but everyone is going to say that about their current coach. Just like he did about LOVIE. So last night changes NOTHING. We’ve known for a while Klueless Koetter is not the man for the job. Facts are facts- THE BUCS LOST…AGAIN!! Moral victories don’t mean anything!!!!! If that’s the case let’s give everyone a damn participation trophy for showing up!!!

4th best coach in the division where does he rank in the conference. We see what kind of players we have and the heart of the team. This horrible season is on the game planners, the offensive and defensive coach, the entire staff needs to go so we can stop seeing this throwback offense being run every week where your surprised that the team has a big play and shocked the quarterback it’s accurate with his throws

I luv Koetter too Jameis. But elswwheres like a divison 2 college HC. Jameis should get a 2nd job as a preacher. He really know how to..push the right buttons and keep that collection plate..flowing and passing!!

They have played that way all year (mostly). It’s just that last night there were more backups in so it was more apparent. This team has consistently played hard. Just didn’t play well enough to win.

…..they didn’t convert every possession ……well done for qb rating but the offense playcalling line talent all can be better
