Jameis is 3-1 versus Atlanta and has had amazing success versus them – the only loss that was that blow-out Thursday loss last season and in that game he threw for 260 yards and 3 TDs before leaving early with an injury.
However with Dirk regressing at an alarming rate and with a garbage offensive line and no running game, we’ll see what happens.

Evans could have caught the ball, you know expect for the fact he was being pulled down before the ball got there. I won’t complain too much since Grimes got away with a PI on the prior series, but to pretend Evans wasn’t being tackled on that play is ridiculous.

Sims is actually an excellent receiver out of the backfield, the issue is Dirk lining him up out wide and taking away the possibility of the run. On that 3rd and 1 play there on the OJ TD, I think the Falcons were shocked that Dirk didn’t have JW in the shotgun and an empty set, they were totally caught off guard on that. I guess 13 weeks of setup was worth getting that one TD right there!

Bnut… you are talking about the nuances of being a good QB. Obviously some don’t know that a QB can lead a receiver into coverage or out of coverage by placement of the throw….and that the D can dictate whether a guy will get his handed to him on certain throws, even if he makes a catch.

Gruden isn’t going anywhere short of getting fired from TV and not being able to find a job anywhere else. Gruden is all about Gruden, whatever gets him the most attention – he loves the attention he gets from having his name in the news, that’s why he never plays it down.
With that said the last playoff game Gruden won was 15 years ago – and once he dismantled Dungy’s team we saw what he did. While he’d be a massive upgrade over Dirk – you can say that about a lot of coaches. The stability that would come from someone like Gruden, knowing the money you pay means he’d be around for 4 years at least, that’s his biggest selling point.

King – Gruden ruined the team when he cut Lynch and let Sapp walk because he claimed the salary cap was killing him, yet he had plenty of money to sign an injured RB to a huge deal and sign a bunch of injured OL. The draft narrative is complete BS – the team fell apart one year after he was in control – how exactly would a rookie have changed that? The team won because of Monte Kiffin – in fact Dirk had a dramatically better season than Gruden ever had on offense just 2 years ago, that’s why he became the HC. Gruden is ridiculously overrated – the Bucs defense was so amazingly good that it didn’t matter who the Bucs hired, they could have hired Steve Spurrier that offseason and they’d still have won the SB.

It is because his HC won’t go out and let the refs know they are “mistaken”, and read them the riot act. When a coach won’t take the heat and accept responsibility to stick up for his players with vocal “enthusiasm”, the players will take it upon themselves. Koetter wears a great deal of this.

First rule of management or coaching, on the job or on the field….you stick up for your guys….take whatever grief it involves. And deal with them in house. If you don’t, you leave it for them to try to solve their problems themselves. And how many times has Koetter done just that…sat back and not even being aware what was going on with his guys in times where they felt they had to take things in their own hands?

@Rod Munch……you should ask Bill Parcells why he declined to coach the Bucs back in ‘02. The team was about to enter salary cap hell, which Gruden ultimately took the fall for when he became coach. Several players had to be cut (Sapp, Lynch) being the big ones. It was gonna happen no matter who the coach was.
Gruden actually won 2 division championships after the Super Bowl and finished with 4 winning seasons out of 7. Not perfect, but hey his entire tenure wasn’t a complete failure like some fans deem it to be. What exactly have we done since he got canned?
That 10 straight seasons of no playoffs has sure been fun has it?

Munch…. you forget that Warren was nearing the end of his career…and it was time for Booger to set up as the heir apparent. Of course there was only one Warren Sapp, or at least a once in a generation talent at his position. And as far as Lynch goes…I get that…his injury was bad and he risked permanent and severe injury by continuing to play. Sure, John went on to play well in Denver. But had he ended up crippled here because Gruden just kept playing him, I don’t know if we would have ever gotten over it.

Patrick – Parcells didn’t want to coach the team because he didn’t want to coach the team, just like in 1996 when the Bucs offered him the job and he turned it down. There is no salary cap hell when you’re giving $5-million (a lot at the time) to Charlie Garner. Gruden made it known he was going to win on offense… and the Bucs never did. Gruden’s last playoff win was in his first season and he never came close again to winning one.

Once we draft all defense players and cut loose the secondary on this team we will look much better next season. Got to get some real nfl talent in secondary and go out in free agency to find experienced offensive line.

Jameis was a franchise qb today. Defense gave up way too much booty. Fire Smith and his awful defensive coaches. Every team has injuries. Smith sucked all year
