In 7 healthy games, Jameis’ stats extrapolate to 4,885 yards, 32 TDs and 14 picks with a 90+ rating … Jameis, when healthy, has been fantastic … and I don’t think he has a problem with Dirk Koetter at all.
However, the TEAM is 4-9 wit its only wins against the horrible Giants, Jets, Phins and Bears … which means Koetter has been HORRIBLE and deserves to be fired.
To me, Jameis isn’t behind the report, nor is Licht or Gruden … it’s either a media-fueled report with no real basis or it’s a GLAZER-FAMILY fueled report to see how the public reacts to the news … my money is on the former but you never know.

Another excellent podcast Steve! I AM hanging in. Been though everything over the years and this is just another speed bump. I still believe in Koetter and hope he survives. If the defense could had stopped the Lions on the last drive we would have had a chance to score or go to overtime!

Joe, the 5 reasons to fire Koetter greatly outweigh the 5 to keep him. You can make the argument that Licht is to blame for the DL and the kicking fiasco but that simply makes it a question of whether to ax both of them or just the head coach….. I really think it went south for Koetter out in the desert, guy went for a TD instead of taking the sure points in the 2nd quarter and then spent the whole second half going for 2 and chasing points. The guy threw in the towel out there, he gave up, there is no defending that. There is also no defending throwing the ball 3 times on 2nd and 2 at the 15 vs the Falcons when the game was 27-20. Questionable play calling vs Green Bay as well, he played not to lose and lost. It seems like the guy is either trying to out smart everyone by being unconventional but it backfires. I won’t even get into the refusal to bench Martin or his reluctance to include Howard and Godwin in the play calling until recently. The guy pulled a Norv Turner or Mike McCoy; good OC but simply over his head when it comes to running the whole show and it distracts him from what he used to do good: put together a good offensive game plan. Perhaps his fatal error was not handing over the play calling to Todd Monken when he contemplated it last off-season. Maybe Smitty will take Dirk to NY if the G-men come calling.
