Sean Mahan Cut
October 27th, 2009Sean Mayhem, the walking turnstile center whose pay the Bucs cut in the offseason who then was released and then later re-signed to rave reviews from Raheem The Dream, was released again today.
So here the Bucs are with a starting center, Jeff Faine, who’s on the record saying his healing tricep won’t be 100 percent this year, and they’ve gassed Mayhem.
That leaves rookie undrafted free agent Jonathan Compas as Faine’s backup on the roster.
If Faine goes down again, will the Bucs try to sell fans again on the virtues of Mayhem, who was shredded in his handful of starts? No way the Bucs leave a rookie center in the game for Josh Freeman or Josh Johnson.
The Bucs also made other bottom-of-the-roster moves today. Joe wishes he had confidence in Czar Dominik, the guy masterminding all this shuffling.

Is their really a difference between Mayhan and the rookie center? I mean, Mayhan was getting abused in the A gap…absolutely abused. Compas, even if he gets the protection wrong, might just be better.

Joe here,
Jeff, you’ve summed up the Bucs season very well. 🙂

Just have the QB snap the ball to himself (sand lot style). Same difference as having Mayham in there.

I don’t understand why players aren’t playing both sides of the ball like high school. Think of the money the Glazer boys would save. A 30 man roster should do it.

Actually the team might be better playing both ways with 30 men it couldn’t be any worse!

Yet Clayton remains on the roster. At least he can’t drop any passes that matter this weekend
