Jameis Seems To Have Had Third Opinion On Shoulder

November 18th, 2017

Bucs coach talks about Jameis’ shoulder.

Last week Joe broke out in hives when learning America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, sought the services of noted sports orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion on his right shoulder.

Well, apparently, per winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter, Jameis sought the feedback of a third doctor.

Koetter didn’t specifically say “third opinion” but he did say Jameis had more than one second opinion during “Late Hits” last night, co-hosted by Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, .

Unlike eye-RAH! Kaufman, Joe is no math star. But more than one second opinion really means a third opinion, yes?

At any rate, Brandt asked Koetter about Jameis’ wing and when he can get back on the field. Koetter confessed he didn’t know and it is all up to doctors.

“That evaluation will be done by the medical staff,” Koetter said. “That won’t be a football decision. None of this has been a football decision so far. Everything that has happened with Jameis to date with his shoulder has been based on what we are hearing from our medical team. They said he needed to rest it for at least two weeks.

“He got a couple of different second opinions to go along with our doctors and they agreed. He got a PRP injection about a week ago. He’s been doing a little bit of a light rehab. So we will see what next week brings and the medical staff will let us know what the next step is.”

Of course, the Miami game tomorrow in South Florida will be the second time Jameis will been shut down due to his shoulder. Earlier in the week, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht stated on the Buccaneers pregame radio show that Jameis could be out an indefinite period. This, Koetter echoed last night.

“Out for an indefinite period longer”? Me thinks that’s Bucs’ code for ‘Jameis will be out for the rest of the year, regardless of what he wants’. If Fitz does well & we go on a winning streak, Koetter will stick with Fitz. If Fitz fizzles & we lose more, Bucs will probably give Ryan Griffen a look-see but not take a chance getting Jameis pummeled even more than he has been. Besides, with this allegation against Jameis swirling, Bucs will probably want to see how that plays out before throwing him back into the fire.

I’m still convinced that playing Jameis with a hurt wing potentially cost us 2 wins. Jameis had a great game against Buffalo stats-wise & Bucs put up 27 points, yet we still lost by 3 pts. Everyone points to the Bucs’ defense, but we also wasted several great opportunities for more points by having Jameis throw deep (he was 3-for-8 on deep passes but 29-for-36 on short stuff … as in 80%). Against Carolina, Jameis had a bad game (2 INTs & 1 fumble didn’t help, but neither did his 3-for-7 deep passing & only 58% on the short stuff). Had our offense done anything, Bucs might’ve pulled that one out because our defense played well. Jameis’ shoulder got dinged up even more in that game from the 3 sacks as a recall. Had those 2 been wins, we’d be 5-4 right now … same as Atlanta & same number of losses as the Panthers. I know, I know … IF pigs had wings they could fly.

  3. Jman Says:

The important question is, is this his groping shoulder? And does he need to layoff of that in order to recover.

  4. Warrenfb12 Says:

He’s going to be suspended next year. I think we have seen the last of Jameis for a while

  5. Grt2 Says:

Luv just reading your post makes me just want to go fishing. You my friend is what’s wrong with all of sports . All you do is wait in the shadows with pitchfork in hand. Just hoping and praying that this 23yr old (Jameis) messes up so you can lead the witch hunt. It takes time to build a playoff team . We aren’t that good of a team. On both sides of the ball we lack size. But it’s going to get better Beckwith, Howard and Evans look like true NFL players. It’s Jason Licht fault that we’re in this mess. Not all draft picks hit but missing on small DBs and kickers that high is a no no. Not addressing the D line in the off-season (Baker is a bust) and O line is also costing this team. Koetter is the right guy for this team and Jameis is the real deal buddy.

  6. HowToSpellRhonde Says:

Suppose the Glazers are ready to move on from Winston, a season ending injury could be a blessing for his trade value. Winston playing through injury could result in poorer play, resulting in less trade value. Trading Winston will also allow the Glazers to clean house of the coaching staff and maybe even the front office.

  7. Grt2 Says:

Are you guys actually serious about getting rid of the best QB in franchise history? He’s 23 it takes time to build a winner.

  8. Gerald McRuud Says:

What is being gained by making this information public?

Not in 1,000,000,000,000 years would you have Billichek on national radio giving up this kind of information on an injured Tom Brady.

    Shut up and coach, coach.

  9. Hodad Says:

If a conduct suspension is on the horizon, maybe they should suit him up so he can serve it now while he really can’t play.

  10. Roy T. Buford Says:

We already know this season is a waste. We could only have hoped that Jameis would return and iron out some of his huge kinks on accuracy and decisions. I personally would like to sit him for the remainder and get Ryan Griffen experience and see if he is worth keepings as a sole backup QB. I think the only reason Griffin isn’t playing is Dirk wants to make his record good enough to keep his job (I can’t blame him, but doubt they fire him anyway–too early).

On accusations of groping, I don’t think he’ll get any suspension from the league if he was say, in the back seat and had no control who did it, even if he did/said nothing to remedy it. But to me it shows who he hangs out with, who he is. Did he keep the guy who (probably) did it as a friend?

Suppose Jameis did it. Worst case is he gets six games and ruins all of next season for us over it. So if that’s the case, I don’t want Jameis on our hometown team not only because of who he is, but also of what he’s caused. Of course, all of this is IF he did it. I tend to believe he did not, at least so far.

  11. Geno Says:

Why are you still calling him America’s quarterback

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Even the NFL will need to have some evidence other than the Uber driver’s word and the spontaneous complaint from her to Uber. The NFL doesn’t need evidence that would convict in court….more like civil preponderance… so, it is not a sure thing that Jameis will be suspended.

  13. Roy T. Buford Says:

Geno, I agree. He’s still our QB, and the flashy coined term was good for a guy exploding with promise and enthusiasm…but it’s not good now. No, not just because of the allegations, but his play this year and lack of maturity in general.

The Bucs are my team for 41 years, and I’m really trying to like these guys personally because it makes being a fan of team and organization more fun. And most of them I do like. But waking up and seeing more reasons to be skeptical or in this case, suspicous of guys like Winston (and Evans for his stuff) gets old.

  14. Buddy Says:

Joe- I woulda thought you’ve learned your lesson by now. He’s definitely not “America’s quarterback” & DK is not a “winning”coach. Quit trying to make little nicknames & just stick to their names & report what’s happening. And for the record his shoulder is MUCH worse then what’s being told to anyone. Of course people are gonna say “How do you know Buddy? Well check my record of knowing what’s happening inside One Buc. Just like I said a day before this latest allegation came out about JW, I know what I’m talking about here too.

  15. LakeLand Says:

People in america don;t have a problem with men ” groping ” women. That was evident on 11-8-2016. When over 65 million people went out and voted for a “serial groper”. The POTUS was on tape bragging about grabbing women by their crotch. And people had no problem with it. In fact they actually loved it, it turned them on. This is America, the nation of no values, no morals. The land where people are gunned down while attending church services. People are gunned down at shopping malls, movie theaters. Children are afraid to attend school, because of the school shootings. People are gunned down at their work place at concerts. The most violent place on Earth, the most EVIL place on Earth. This is the REALITY, and some CRACKPOT will try to dispute this.

  16. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    Lakeland!!!!

Excellent rant. As a 70 year old dude I’m afraid I have to agree. I don’t know that I would call our nation evil though. We still have 2/3 good people.

The rest is just largely misinformation…not in the fake news but from the conspirators who want us to dump a free press.

It saddened me that when Trump came down that escalator blasting Mexicans that undocumented immigration had sunk to close to zero. The last six years of the Obama administration it had flattened out. Not because of Obama policies but our sick economy.

How many people knew at that time that the border cities like Laredo, McAllen have lower crime rates than most American major cities….or that first generation immigrants commit the least crime…they have to live here for a generation first to become “Americanized”.

The vaunted “low info” voters. OK see what you started Lakeland. And I’m the blog optimist. LMAO I was here in ’68 when things went into the crapper…we came back we’ll come back again.

Jameis isn’t going nowhere and he can’t be suspended when their was no police report. You are telling me an allegation gets you fired? So I could make an allegation about some of you on here does that mean you should be fired? Come on people get a life! Go Bucs! See you in Miami!
See Roger Goodell and the world news of the last two months. –Joe

  18. Broy34isExcitedForGruden+Jameis Says:

Will jameis be on the team next year!? {{Joe deleted opinions stated as fact. Again, Joe is responsible for what’s written here, not the commenter}} If the franchise backed him after a rape investigation they will now. Jameis is going nowhere and this will be forgotten in a week. Guaranteed. I get the wonder of will he be here but he’s not a cowboy and this will go away. A girl who’s groped by Jameis Winston comes out immediately and would settle in civil court. Simple as that. There’s not a doubt in my mind this blows over and he will be back

  19. Supersam Says:

Licht saying that he will we be out for “indefinite period” makes me wonder if they knew this whole groping debacle was coming and that was code for yea he’s gonna be suspended

  20. Broy34isExcitedForGruden+Jameis Says:

The sky is falling on joebucsfan.com. —-I prefer the Gruden rumors to talk about personally. And I wasn’t attacking you joe. I just strongly strongly strongly believe he will be back

  21. Donkc Says:

Lakeland, great post. The US of A is no longer the greatest nation on earth. We are morally bankrupt. The “shining beacon on the hill” has been blasted to rubble by tribalism and hypocrites. I’m a 22 year Air Force vet and it makes me just want to hide in embarrassment. What happened to us? Check this out:

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Jameis won’t be out for more than two more weeks…unless the Bucs decide to IR him, which I doubt.

I believe more is being made of this injury than is actually the case.

  23. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Am I the only one here who can’t get the name Andrew Luck out of my head?

  24. Mike Johnson Says:

The Tampa Bay Bucs are..snakebiy!! In coaching, players and Mngt. it should have been decided 4 games ago to sit Jameis for the season and let him have shoulder surgery. Him playin ain’t gonna improve ticket sales. Get the Kid ready for next year. Slip him Grudens playbook now so he can be ready!

  25. NFLNut Says:

    ***************

If they’re shutting him down for the year, Jameis should consider just taking a 6 game suspension NOW even if he did nothing wrong, as the NFL can suspend players based on mere accusations without any proof … and being suspended for 6 weeks you aren’t going to play anyways would be no big deal … but knowing Jameis, the guy who sued his own rape accuser and then watched her drop even her civil trial without receiving a penny from him (according to his father), Jameis doesn’t take lightly to being falsely accused and I don’t blame him … but … he’s got to see that the NFL has all the power in the world to suspend people without any proof, so he should be smart here

  26. Bird Says:

Give him a brain MRI as a precaution. Man he really doing stupid things right now. Bucs are a joke

  27. Ken G. Says:

I think the “America’s Quarterback” nonsense here was indicative of part (but not all) of what has gone wrong in the 3 years of Winston. It was a premature coronation of an extremely young, immature and somewhat amoral young man. Instead of drafting him and being realistic about the time it would take to (maybe) get him mentally ready on and off the field, he was given the job on a Day 1 of OTAs over a serviceable Glennon. There was no reason to do this (except $). His career is on an RGIII trajectory, where declining performance, off field drama and nagging injuries make it likely he’s somewhere else when the next coach/GM take over. Honestly ask yourself: what new coach is going to stake his career on an inaccurate, injury risk drama queen?

  28. unbelievable Says:

    Licht must be in mourning.

    RIP Malcom Young

  29. Getaclue Says:

It’s just baffling the way things this season have gone. From the loses to the injury and losses playing through it. We all thought we were getting the good Doug Martin after seeing him in the preseason. The defense was primed to start where they left off. Now we are talking about a gruden comeback, Winston groping a girl … is gruden going to be scared now with the Winston situation? Then depending on how that turns out I’ve heard talks about him being joined with his brother and getting Cousins to follow. I’d never believe the dominoes would have fallen like this .

  30. NFLNut Says:

Lots of Lakers fans wanted Kobe off the team too … I still have no real doubt Jameis will be a HOF’er … R-E-L-A-X
