“Tampa Bay Looks Like A Team No Longer Playing For Their Head Coach”
November 8th, 2017The onslaught of the Bucs by the national media continues, this time by a former Buccaneer.
Man, Joe thought Hurricane Irma was a bad storm.
This week on the popular Mike & Mike show on BSPN, glory days Buccaneer defensive tackle and Tampa resident Booger McFarland made his usual visit and strongly implied the Bucs have quit on formerly winning head coach Dirk Koetter.
“Tampa Bay looks like a team no longer playing for their head coach,” Booger said.
Booger went on to cite “the discipline issues” and said he hears “the rumblings that the head coach is in over his head.” Koetter, like Ben McAdoo of the Giants, were strong coordinators but may not have been cut out to be CEOs and head coaches.
Wow. It’s getting ugly out there for the Bucs’ hierarchy. So Booger’s hearing rumblings that Koetter is in over his head. That’s interesting to Joe, since Booger is friends with Derrick Brooks who has said he has regular contact with multiple Buccaneers, including America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston. And certainly Booger has other connections to One Buc Palace.
On Jameis, Booger says he needs to grow up in a hurry, but Booger believes he will be a true franchise quarterback.
Booger believes Jameis’ 17-second pregame speech that involved bizarre finger sucking, “aka eating a W,” as Jameis called it, was a stunt that “almost made a mockery of being a leader,” Booger said. He added that Team Glazer and Koetter should step in and explain that to Jameis.
Joe is not in 100 percent doom and gloom land on Koetter like so many others are. But Joe certainly is moving in that direction. There are no excuses for what this team has delivered.

Ya Think? Can’t sneak anything past Booger!
November 8th, 2017 at 9:15 am
Tampa2 mafia!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had to hide for so long, but now feel safe to spread their propaganda!!!!!!!!!!
And what is his answer????? Hire warren sapp as the GM???? Hire Monte Kiffen’s grandson?????? Why would I not be surprised that all his answers would be to run the tampa2 and hire people with connections to the past!!!!!!!!
GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 8th, 2017 at 9:19 am
Discipline issues? You don’t say!!!
The tail is wagging the dog
November 8th, 2017 at 9:27 am
How would Booger know what a quitter looks like?
November 8th, 2017 at 9:30 am
I try not blame coaches. I rather blame players. Koetter hasn’t done a good jon w any facet of the game.
Licht and koetter stays but he needs a new football ppl arounf him and gut the losers out of the locker room
November 8th, 2017 at 9:31 am
Just get JW a good running game. I better OC and he’ll be pretty good like we saw in Buffalo. Kind of weird that us couch QB’s know what the fak is going on but these pudents don’t.
November 8th, 2017 at 9:32 am
It is obvious that this team has very bad coaching.
It’s unfortunate because I think this team has a lot of talent(except having the worst Defensive ends and running backs in the NFL).
November 8th, 2017 at 9:42 am
Yeah…this is what CRY BABY KNEELING spoiled players do….shift the blame….it is execution of the play calling
it is the players not the coaching
November 8th, 2017 at 9:43 am
Frankly, not sitting Evans after that shot and then not chewing out Jameis, at least a little, for leaving the sidelines to start that business with the helmet thump, showed he doesn’t care about team discipline. Period. He has no control over his team.
November 8th, 2017 at 9:46 am
Im just curious what it will take for Joe to enter the “100% doom and gloom” on Koetter?
November 8th, 2017 at 9:49 am
McFarland is a classic ex-player…..he’ll always side with the players perspective. The team is desperate and everyone across the board is trying to cover their rear. Players saying its coaching….coaches saying its execution….Licht not saying anything hoping folks dont realize he’s the common denominator in all this.
November 8th, 2017 at 9:50 am
Lamarcus I agree 1000%
November 8th, 2017 at 9:52 am
Players have quit….simple as that….blaming it on the coaching is just a misdirection tactic…….Evans stupid act…why would a coach take a player out if the referees did not…that is stupid…plenty of time for the coach to address the situation after the heat of the battle when cooler heads prevail…
November 8th, 2017 at 9:56 am
The ‘rumblings’ Booger McFarland refers to? Not the players. It’s the media and the fans.
November 8th, 2017 at 9:56 am
My man Booger is..spot on!! I still would like to see DC Smitty come out of that upstairs press box and roam the sidelines with his defensive troops. You cannot caoch from a perch in the sky….Maybe he has some kind of medical problem we don’t know about? His Defense is truly lost. Lead your troops Smitty!!!
November 8th, 2017 at 9:58 am
I feel like a dumba$$ for defending this coaching staff. I saw things last year and this year that I chose to ignore because I felt our talent could overcome them. Now I’m at the point where I have no faith in this coaching staff. I wish we could get Jim Harbaugh to come back to the NFL and coach for the Bucs. He has proven he has the cure for losing cultures.
November 8th, 2017 at 9:59 am
“the rumblings that the head coach is in over his head”
Raheem was in over his head….
Schiano was in over his head….
Now Koetter is in over his head….
Is the media running our coaches off and not just bad play on the field?
Hell we know that for a fact with Schiano when the media had a FIRE SCHIANO billboard put up… what 5 games into his 2nd season?
Who will be the next head coach that’s “in way over his head”?
November 8th, 2017 at 10:01 am
Coach K did look like red riding hood’s grandma on the sidelines while Sean Peyton was cussing his arse out. Maybe coach k is spending too much time with gmc? Or maybe he needs testosterone shots idk.
What I find ironic is that Winston took over the pep talk from Kwon. If you watch the longer version Winston asks Kwon “let’s me say something real quick” and I’ll give it right back to Kwon”. (Something close to that)
Point is that less is always more! Just play kid and stfu. Not forever but at least for the next 6-8 games. And maybe you should get married and have some kids that will straighten your ass out real quick unless you’re rick flair. Am I right? WOOOOOO!
November 8th, 2017 at 10:18 am
Hey, guess what, people? The team will get better under the same coaching staff.
Everyone is up in arms because we all thought this would be our year. I did too. But we have to consider WHY we thought that.
Licht has done better in the draft than any GM we have ever had. Sure, he pretty much sucks at free agency, but when it come to the draft, we won’t find better. People harp on the obvious failures…but the good picks far outweigh the bad. Not many GMs can make that claim.
Tampa Fans have short memories. Mark Dominick and Bruce Allen were both horrible at drafting. John McKay was only slightly better (though he was good at free agency).
The Bucs have had some really bad drafts before Licht came along. The only great one before him was in the late 1990s when we got Sapp and Co. The rest? We were extremely lucky to get 1 good player per year…and there were years with complete busts.
Jason Licht always comes away with 3-5 good players in the draft. Always.
Yes, he misses on some picks. But he hits more than he misses. Lets take a look:
2017
Round 1, O.J. Howard TE
Round 2, Justin Evans S (slow developer but getting much better with experience)
Round 3, Chris Godwin WR
Round 3, Kendell Beckwith LB
2016
Round 1, Vernon Hargreaves CB (he’s having a down year, but he’ll get through it)
Round 2, Noah Spence DE (he was set to take a leap forward before the injury)
Round 4, Ryan Smith CB (improving from game to game)
2015
Round 1, Jameis Winston QB
Round 2, Donovan Smith OT (I know what you are thinking…but he’s actually improving now if you watch him play)
Round 2, Ali Marpet C
Round 4, Kwon Alexander OLB
Out of 11 picks, 6 are starting and 5 are quality depth. That means he is averaging 3.66 good picks in each draft, even with the dumb moves like drafting Aguayo so early.
Show me any other GM that has done so well over the last 3 years of drafts.
November 8th, 2017 at 10:23 am
Players have quit here all the way back to Gruden’s last year. When does it become a player issue? The next coaching change will be the SIXTH!!!!!! So all these coaches were terrible? Maybe, but I doubt it! I firmly believe that the culture of this franchise has become soft and it shows over the last 10 years of drafting.
November 8th, 2017 at 10:24 am
And I do disagree with Joe on one point he made in the Ira podcast…I don’t think we should move Marpet back to guard.
It takes time for an offensive line to gel, especially when two of the middle guys are so inexperienced at their positions. Marpet has been improving as he gets experience. It’s a slow process, but Center is the hardest spot on the line.
Case in point: how many bad snaps has he had lately as compared to earlier? He’s improved.
And Sweezy came back from injury. Since then he’s stayed healthy. He’s acceptable. And he will improve as well.
November 8th, 2017 at 10:24 am
Jamie’s needs to lead like a man and a professional. I would be rolling my eyes if my QB and team leader is talking to me and making gestures like some junior high player. Get tough, talk tough and concentrate on the task at hand
November 8th, 2017 at 10:39 am
IF the players quit on the coach then that is just sick. Those players should be fired. They get paid way to much freaking money to quit just because you don’t like the coach. Booger should call out the players if that is the case. I don’t know about everyone else but I am a die hard Bucs fan and NFL fan and have been my entire life. However, this Sunday was the first Sunday that I can remember that I spent time doing other stuff and didn’t watch a single game. Folks the NFL better change things quick otherwise they will lose a lot of fans.. Also I will be boycotting the NFL this week. Hope all the Veterans stand up of the Flag this week. Let the players realize without us they even wouldn’t be here.
November 8th, 2017 at 10:42 am
and some people thing dirk hasn’t lost the team…..some people think dirk isn’t in over his head….LOL…GO BUCS!!!!

@BONZAI…
NO…the rumbles are coming from inside ONE BUC PLACE….the media…and “TRUE” buc fans….GO BUCS!!!!

I have to Rephrase this
“Tampa Bay Looks Like A Team No Longer Playing For Their salary”
November 8th, 2017 at 11:04 am
Will Licht and Koetter survive? If Koetter truly has lost the locker room then he will be gone at seaons end. Once a coach has been tuned out there is almost no way to recover from that. And in my opinion of Koetter goes, so does Licht. He chose Dork to be the teams head coach. Dirks failure is on him. Not to mention some of the biggest culprits behind the “mutiny” include DeSean Jackson, TJ Ward and Chris Baker. All three are freeagents brought in by Licht before the season. Hindsight is a biotch but these were not good choices to bring in to this young locker room. No way does Licht get off the hook if Koetter is axed.
So assuming the above plays out, the Glazers would almost certainly clean house. So instead of hiring another head coach that will ultimately lead a failed regime, ownership would be wise to bring in a president of football operations. Someone at the top to run this thing. Similar to Elway, Coughlin etc someone that would hire the head coach, the scouting department and just run the team while the Glazers kust take a bback seat and oversee their investment and cut the checks.
So as unfathomable as this seemed in August, a total rebuild could be around the corner. Needing to acquire as many draft picks as possible, no playrr is untouchable.
It sucks cause I really thought that Licht and Koetter were gping to turn this team into a winner. What this team is able to do these next eight games will have a huge impact on the future of this team.

Which of these Coaches do you keep?….
Obviously the players are over rated, not performing, not improving.
JW is not showing signs of being a Franchise QB.
With Injury concerns and maturity. …He is Risk factor ,and soon it’s Contract time.
Lots of Risk in this picture…..as bad as Subprime /Ninja loan housing
November 8th, 2017 at 12:08 pm
It’s not the coach or the GM’s fault that players underperform the way these players do. Look at all the plays that would have changed the outcome if players made the play instead of loafing or screwing up.
The players don’t have to play for the coach to win but they do have to play for each other. These guys don’t care enough to play for each other.
No pride = no wins.
November 8th, 2017 at 12:26 pm
Dirk Koetter will be fired along with his staff and Jason Licht. The question is, after: Raheem, Schiano, Lovie , and Koetter .. who comes next ? Another coordinator ? College coach ? Offensive mind (for Jameis) or defensive..
November 8th, 2017 at 12:41 pm
That’s, what, the fourth head coach now the players have stopped playing for? Maybe the problem isn’t the coaches, but the attitudes of the coached.
November 8th, 2017 at 12:46 pm
Yea, lets fire the coach! The players have no idea how to catch, throw, or tackle. So they need a coach who can teach them obviously, Dungy,Gruden,Raheem,Schiano,Lovie, and Koetter have no idea how to coach. Can’t be the players can it?? NO Way! Anyone who thinks firing Dirk is I hate to say but Not very intelligent. Sorry guys! This is why we are one of the worsr franchises in all of professional sports. Things get bad just fire the coach and all is well..
November 8th, 2017 at 1:08 pm
anyone blaming the players are dumb as h3ll….
please name a former coach that is still coaching in the NFL besides RAH….
that’s because they all weren’t ready to be HC’s….the man that had us moving in the right direct we canned in 2015….
if we’re going to hire someone, hire someone that has a somewhat successful head coaching resume….#JIM HARBAUGH…..GO BUCS!!!!
November 8th, 2017 at 1:23 pm
@813bucboi agreed.
The biggest problem is the one never talked about .. because we can’t do anything about it: The Glazers. They hire the wrong guy every time. The year we hired Lovie Smith , the Vikings hired Mike Zimmer .. COMPARE .. saying that it’s the dozens and dozens and dozens of players who have started for us over the years (many who are now starting for teams with better records) is insane. This is a losing culture being ran by losers. May seem harsh.. but true .. look at Koetters experience as a HC .. none in the NFL .. okay .. so we look to CFB.. we narrow in on ASU .. he did an awful job and was barley a memory for ASU fans .. THIS is what we keep bringing in ..trash.. Raheem .. Schiano .. Lovie .. What are they all doing now ? Exactly .. pattern forming .. Fix this team at the TOP .. HC , GM , front office etc.. and fans will finally get what they want.. entertainment value on a weekly basis.
November 8th, 2017 at 3:15 pm
@ryan k
I wanted zimmer so bad that year too!!!!….GO BUCS!!!
November 8th, 2017 at 3:27 pm
Bucnjim Says:
“Players have quit here all the way back to Gruden’s last year.”
Fans like you and I are starting to understand there’s more to it than just 4 horrible coaches in a row.
November 8th, 2017 at 11:43 pm
Nick Saban!Make it happen.CEO head coach that always has a hired OC and DC to call plays! The Buccaneers are a young team with toxic vets!
November 9th, 2017 at 12:04 am
