Ashamed.
A dejected winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter did not deny his job could be in jeopardy the way the Bucs have fallen off a cliff, now losing five straight games.
(For Bucs historical perspective, the season after Raheem Morris led his Bucs to a whisker of a playoff berth with 10 wins, Morris was fired for a 10-game losing streak.)
After yet another putrid loss, Koetter was asked directly if he thought his job may be on the line. While Koetter didn’t the question directly, he didn’t deny it either.
“When you play like we did today, I am concerned with every aspect as that is my responsibility,” Koetter said.
Koetter emphasize as he has in the recent past as he has after virtually each loss that “it starts with me” and later “it starts with the head coach” in today’s press conference.
“The type of football we are playing right now, we can’t have a punt blocked,” Koetter said. “We can’t have four sacks. We can’t have missed tackles and in the run game, not be able to run the football.
“We are just not good enough in any phase right now and that includes coaching.”
Koetter later said he was ashamed.
“I am totally embarrassed by [the play and losing streak] and I would hope the players are,” Koetter added.

hang in there dirk the losing culture led by cancer93 is strong and has destroyed many of careers but hold your head up and keep fighting. maybe ownership will wake up and send the soft arse captain choirboy to dallas for 5th or 6th round pick and rid themselves of the losing culture once and for all.

This is on Koetter. He did not even try to win this game. He’s a lame duck at the least. He deserves to be fired now. I moved from little confidence to no confidence.

Pretty much nobody cares what a 2-6 coach says. He can’t win at the mic and it’s all throwaway talk at this point. It’s very predictable and not worth reporting on. This game was over, including the postgame, in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

The players “should be embarrassed “? Really? They disrespect the flag and there is no embarrassment so why should horrible play embarrass them? They’re independently wealthy and get paid regardless of outcome. Their character showed today. You figure out what type of character I refer to.

The only chance to turn this around is to go no huddle from the start like Buffale did in the late 80s. The team plays better in no huddle. Unfortunately Dirk doesn’t appear to be smart enough to see it. The most frustrating thing is it’s the same stupid game plan every week. In his own way, he’s just as stubborn as Lovie. I had high hopes for Dirk.
Sorry he’s got to go. Boot Mike Smith, Chris Baker and TJ Ward also. The fans and the Glazer’s deserve better. Hire someone as VP of football opearations. Keep Licht for one more year. Bring back Gruden but you cannot allow him to pick players.

Steve Spurrier and the 76 Bucs want to come out of retirement and play this version of the Bucs. Would not have had to wait till the 27th game for a victory.

No gruden. Dungy if any past coach. We need a defensive head coach. Id rather go back to winning the close ones than losing the blowouts. Dirk knows he messed up by not practicing tackle football during camp. He knows he is gona get canned. Whoever said he didnt try to win this game youre right, he did the same thing in arz, but much worse. In that game he tossed in the towel before halftime. Crazy thing is after he gives up the other coach always goes deep to rub it in. Grow a pair dirk. The team is following his passive lead, until its after the whistle. Then they love to fight. Inexcusable. Fire Dirk tonight! We dont need another game of patty cake.

Bucs fans & media are awesome … in victory. Lose however and they’ll turn on you in a heartbeat. Dirk Koetter got saddled with an impossible task, for him: be a first-time HC AND a OC. Could’ve been one or the other and done fairly decent IMO. But both? And with this team with its’ various flaws? Not a chance.
If I were Koetter at this point, I’d kinda sorta regroup. Let Monken be a REAL OC, with Dirk focusing on his HC responsibilities. Jameis needs to get that shoulder thoroughly checked out & sit for awhile (not hard to see that he’s totally frustrated). Play Fitz for a few games, and if we’re struggling still then let Ryan Griffen have a go at it. I’m not at all for tanking the season to get a higher draft pick … THAT’s what losers do IMO. Being 2-6 right now, however, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we end up someplace between 4-12 and 6-10. This team just doesn’t have the talent at this point to do much better.

Man. I bought into all the hype that Joe put out this year! Koetter is a great offensive play caller, wow how can defensive coaches ever game plan for our passing game with Evans, Brate, OJ, Godwin, Hump and Jackson?, Martin is looking great, road grader Sweezy, etc, etc. All a bunch of crap Seriously think any of a number of college teams could give them a run for their money. How can such a talent rich team regress as much as this in one friggin year? Blow it up. Now.

We were 9-7 last and regressed this year.
That is unacceptable for what was coming back and the signing Mesean Jackson.
There’s a lockerroom problem. It might be Koetter. It might be some players.
But it has to be eliminated at all costs. Zero reason to have only 2 wins.
IMHO, the “leader” crap got real old within the OBP. Jameis doesn’t back up that leadership on the field. He plays awful for 2.5 quarters then gets hot. If that’s him then he isn’t a franchise QB.

When the Bucs player’s are so down that they don’t want to fully participate, fans and media are allowed to also. And it happens a lot. It’s hard for a group of fans to continuasly be excited about a team’s potential when they’ve only had two very deep runs in the playoffs with the ’99 NFC championship game and the 2002 Super Bowl.

I am starting to agree with @Tmaxcon, McCoy doesn’t bring out the best in his teammates and doesn’t hold anyone including himself to high standards. Time to get rid of him and bring in a defensive leader that wants and cares about winning, a leader who will get into his teammate’s faces when they’re playing like garbage!
Hopefully we can get atleast a 3rd for him

we need a better play caller–one who takes advantage of Jameis unique talents, we need a decent running back and many positions on the d-line need fillingwith quality elite players, have to say–may be time to trade gmc for draft pick

SOEbuc, I’ve been a Bucs fan since 1982. LOTS of losing seasons in there … I get it. Also remember ‘the glory years’ however leading up to 2002 & our SB victory. Fans came out of the woodwork & jumped on-board the ship. Tony Dungy (and Monte Kiffin) built a great defense (one of the best ever actually), but those same fans couldn’t get rid of Tony fast enough because he couldn’t get the Bucs ‘over the hump’ offensively. Gruden did however (with Kiffin running that same defense), but he also faltered soon after that. Remember many of those same fans calling for his head too. Matter of fact, ‘off with his head’ became kinda the Bucs’ fans rallying cry every 2 years after that. It’s nice to keep a scapegoat like GMC handy, but the reality of why the Bucs perennially suck goes far deeper than GMC.

Dirk is a dope. 90% of NFL fans outside of Tampa don’t even know who this guy is. He’s just a guy. Will be a decent coordinator somewhere else if that’s what he wants to do (who would know, doesn’t seem to really love what he does or captivate anyone with any type of personality).
Probably should have stuck with Lovie.
