Broken Hearted
October 31st, 2017Look at what the Bucs have done.
In a span over three months, it seems the nation fell in love with the Bucs thanks to their appearance on the NFL Films-produced “Hard Knocks.” And now it’s Halloween and the Bucs slapped the face of their new lovers, tossed a beer in their grills, and ran away.
That’s the way Dan Hanzus of NFL.com feels. He bought into the Bucs while watching “Hard Knocks” and thought for sure the Bucs were a budding NFL juggernaut.
Instead, at 2-5, the Bucs have left Hanzus alone. Lonely. Forlorn. Used. Abused.
@DanHanzus: Bucs the latest reminder of perils of developing feelings for a Hard Knocks team.
Judging by the way Bucs fans have freaked out after the offensive shat show Sunday, and have angrily turned on this team and are all but demanding a total housecleaning from the suits to America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, to the underwhelming free agents, Joe is guessing Bucs fans can relate to Hanzus.
It seems Bucs fans have reacted to the 2-5 start like they just got home from a hard day at work only to catch their significant other in bed with the high school janitor.

*threw a beer, not three a beer
Curse of Hard Knocks continues. What else is new?
Give Licht and Koetter another year at least. The coaching carousel every 2-3 years doesn’t work. We simply need more talent on the D line and O line. Beyond that, we need team leaders- captains, who are linemen on both sides of the ball that set the tone.
That would fix most everything.

Kaelin clay, Kenny bell, Austin seferian Jenkins, JOEY IOSEF, Kenny bell, Robert Herron, Danny Vitale, George Johnson, Will Gholston, Ayers, Baker, Kadeem Edwards. Thanks licht and thanks Glazers for spending as little as possible for the weakest coaching staff and expecting results from them

Yup..!!

*Catching their significant other in bed with the high school janitor. Sounds oddly specific Joe. When you have players wondering out loud if this team is cursed (spoiler alert: it is) you know they are at their wits end and demoralized. So I say to Bucs players, welcome to our world, and btw, it’s crowded in here.

Nope….Drop the Gauntlet or we will be talking about the same stuff next Halloween đ!!! 49ers got Jimmy G so we are stuck with Jameis. Gotta have someone that can Coach him up… and itâs not Dirk.

Football games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage.
The Bucs’ offensive linemen seem to do well when they go to other teams (Penn, Zuttah, etc.) and play in playoff games. But when they’re here they can’t seem to put it together. On many occasions, they look good on paper but don’t play well as a unit and haven’t since Gruden / Bill Muir who took a rag tag group of linemen and made them work as a unit. They won a Super Bowl with Kenyatta Walker (!!!)
I’d comment about the defensive pass rush (what pass rush?) (I love that, Joe!), but I haven’t seen one since Monte announced he was leaving. Check wiki. That 2007-2008 roster doesn’t look very good on paper either. But no, back to back 9-7 seasons weren’t good enough when they had the lowest payroll and the playoff loss was to a team that ran the table on the road and beat the undefeated Patriots…
The people who brought you The Doug Williams Curse now present The Curse of Chucky!
By the way, I love the posts that say, “besides the year they won the Super Bowl, Gruden’s record was…” Winning the Super Bowl shouldn’t count. It’s not like it’s the reason they play the game!
And Gruden’s post Super Bowl record was still better than the garbage we’ve had to witness since then!

Really sucks! I may live in Tennessee now but Iâll never root for another team. Iâm in a area that has Falcons,Panthers,Bengals, and Titan fans. Each team about 200 miles away. But as bad as they suck I donât care if color blind Vinny Testeverde was behind center throwing 35intâs and Richard Williamson was brought back as hc Iâm still gonna be a Buc fan. But it really sucks cause the season is pretty much over for Buc fans. Something tells me something is up behind the Golden doors of one Buc place…

2021 Tampa will host the Super Bowl. Hopefully we turn this thing around by then and play in the Super Bowl in our own backyard… barring a miracle this season is over for us. Time to figure out now team Glazer what you wanna do and thatâs either stick with Dirk or let him go now! Howâd you like to have your daddyâs team in the Super Bowl right there in RJS?

Broken-hearted? No Joe, it’s so much worse than that to tried & true Bucs fans. It’s like being dumped, feeling devastated, having the ‘dumper’ come back in & say they’re sorry … then dumping you AGAIN. Over & over & over … ad nauseum.
Bucs’ fans have suffered through 27 losing seasons out of 41 since 1976 … and been rewarded with only 13 winning seasons in that timeframe (went 8-8 in 1998 which to us in retrospect is almost as good as winning the SuperBowl). During our 12 ‘glory years’ (1997-2008) we actually had 8 whole winning seasons (4-out-of-5 years under Tony Dungy … plus the 8-8 record in 1998 … and 4-out-of-7 years under Jon Gruden). Went to the playoffs in each of those 8 winning seasons. Their rewards? Glazers fire Dungy because he couldn’t get us over the hump to a Super Bowl, then fire Gruden after he did but stumbled after that.
Take out that 12 year span, and Bucs have had 5 winning seasons in the remaining 29 years (not counting this year) … 3 winning seasons under John McKay, 1 under Raheem Morris & 1 under Dirk Koetter. That’s 4 coaches with winning years who were either dumped (3), quit (1) or are still coaching (1). We’ve had another 6 coaches who never had a winning season with the Bucs.
Broken-hearted Joe? Nah. Kicked in the gonads? Ya, season after season after season. Constant turmoil & some terrible football. And what’s ironic is that there’s one place where Bucs have had more stability than most other teams … our ownership. Two owners and we’re now in our 42nd year. Hmmm. Nah, let’s not look there. Move along little doggies, move along.

pro bowler… lol wish he would play more like it

That is why I stated early this year, that The Buc Realist is giving a pass to the front office and coaching staff this year!!!!! When the owners are more concerned with “expanding the brand” and hosting “events” at their rent free stadium that the obstacles and distractions were bound to be a problem!!!!!!!! News flash, dancing in front of cameras does not help win on Sundays!!!!! And as soon as the owners get that attitude it will trickle down to the team!!!!!!!
OMG its a “Realist Repost”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Buc Realist Says:

If the owners signed up the Bucs and are forcing it on them, then that is fine!! they can sell more jerseyâs and the Buc fans out west will love it!!! But I will think of the year differently!!! My expectations for the team has changed!!!! The goal of going deep in the playoffs will change to âjust being national recognizedâ!!!!!!
In other words I will give coaches and players a huge pass this year if we do the NFLâs longest commercial!!!!!!
I do not see how this helps the team on the field, and I do not see NFLâs best head coaches lining up to be on it!!!!!!
Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!

It starts at the top Defense Rules! Always has, always will. Malcolm was the last straw that stirred the football success cauldron (See what I did there?!). The Rooneys don’t make mistakes like this franchise has made over the years because they are FOOTBALL PEOPLE. There has to be a strong foundation which can ONLY be set by the ownership. It’s not coincidence that teams with strong ownership tend to be more successful.
I like your analogy BTW. This is where apathy sets in and you lose, once again, your fanbase.

Pretty sure that’s Jenna L. trying to hide under a brown wig…

Sounds like a good moniker for us. The Hard luck Bucs.

We do have the worst O-Line in the NFC South. I donât understand why Licht didnât get a decent CB,DE,OT during the draft or free agency.
Whoa
October 31st, 2017 at 9:35 am
Now-now LakeLand, You KNOW that ALL of our rushing attack woes stem from the RBs this and last year, NOT the o-line!
I wish I could change the font size because never have those position needs been so glaringly obvious!
CB…………DE……………OT
The sad thing is that you can’t bolster all three positions sufficiently through the draft and FA in ONE season. Once again, we’ll have to do some creative patchwork in certain instances. Most likely we need the following next year:
DEFENSE:
DE- We need (2), one needs to be a stud
DT- OMG, please!
CB- Maybe (2) and with some height.
OFFENSE:
OT- Again OMG!
G(?)- Pamphile might leave.
RB- Either a game-changer (Barkley)or a BIG back with hands.
FB- Stocker is no Lorenzo Neal!
If you think this can be overcome in ONE offseason and with draft picks, think again.

If Steelers ever can Mike Tomlin, he’d be the kind of guy that doesn’t let lazy players suit up. Steelers always play physical football. Not a fan but year after year they play that way.
October 31st, 2017 at 9:52 am
@REALIST…..
NICS TRY!!!….but their is no evidence HK has made this team come out flat and unprepared in weeks 5-8…..stop the BS….
this team has been under achieving for weeks now and that’s the fault of dirk and smitty….not HK…
you may give the staff and pass, but the glazers sure as h3ll wont…..dirks on the hot seat because he’s in over his head….not because of HK….GO BUCS!!!!
October 31st, 2017 at 10:19 am
Buc fans tired of being nut punched by their own team. All Buc fans attending home games should wear white as a symbol of the Buc players surrendering to apathy after 3 games into the season. F- the Bucs. F- Koetter. F- Smith. F- McCoy, F- Licht and F- Team Glazer.
October 31st, 2017 at 12:36 pm
@bucssucs how you gonna name mostly 5-7 rd picks as an indicator of a GMs success get out of here man lol
October 31st, 2017 at 1:14 pm
@Bucsfanman
Well said. If you look around the league, ownership pedigree shows when you see the same teams at the top almost every year. I think the Glazers mean well, they just do not know any better. Also, they are making a killing so why should they worry. Good ownership and ownership pride go hand in hand.
Start with hiring a president of football operations, someone with a pedigree.
Bring in coaches with a 5 year game plan.
Keep a handful of the really good players and scrap the heap.
The O line has 1 good player
We have a number of very good TE’s
We have good receivers.
Everyone in the backfield goes, including the QB
The D line goes.
We have 3 or 4 good linebackers.
We have a great punter.
The rest can go. No one will remember them in 3 years.
That is how you change a culture.
I want players that play with attitude, something that is lacking. Funny we have 2 players that do play with an attitude and both were walk on’s.
