Gruden Chants Filled The Postgame Air

October 30th, 2017

“These stadium fans keep stirring up all kinds of mother*@$#’n crap — and I love it!

Those who listened to this morning’s Bucs Uncensored podcast on JoeBucsFan.com, hosted by former Buccaneers Radio Network voice Justin Pawlowski, already know this.

Chants of “Gruden, Gruden, GROO-den” were heard bellowing at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway following yesterday’s Bucs-Panthers game.

Listen for the Gruden chants, aka Fire Koetter, to be heard during an actual game, if the Bucs start losing in two weeks at home to the Jets, led by Josh McCown and Austin Seferian-Jackwagon (31 catches and 3 TDs this season),

This is what it’s come to. Part of the fan base is so battered by losing it’s yearning to replace a second-year head coach with an 11-12 record.

That’s clear evidence of an institutional problem that goes way beyond Dirk Koetter’s shockingly bad start to this season.

Losing is one thing. Getting embarrassed, like the Bucs have been in three of seven games this season, is quite a different story. Add to that the Bucs own the worst NFL home record since the day Chucky was fired after the 2008 season. It all makes for a toxic brew that fans are quickly rejecting.

Joe certainly isn’t calling for Chucky to be Tampa Bay’s next head coach in nine short weeks. It’s way too early to entertain a head coaching change, but loads of fans already are.

For the record, Joe was roundly harassed and called a moron for writing this story on May 31, titled “Don’t Go 5-8 Dirk,” after it was revealed Chucky would enter the Buccaneers Ring Of Honor in December.

But this year, in will come Chucky to Monday Night Football in Tampa on Dec. 18 to accept his huge Bucs honor. It’s Week 15 against the Falcons, and Chucky, with his youngest child nearly out of the house and his ESPN employer hemorrhaging red ink, might be looking to return to coaching.

That’s a very ugly and dangerous combination for Dirk Koetter, if Koetter and the Bucs only have, say, a 5-8 record.

That’s just the straight truth. Anyone can do the math.

Joe adores Koetter and is not lobbying for Chucky. But everything about this Bucs offseason — from the owners to the head coach — screams impatience. It’s win now — with the dynamic franchise QB, coaching continuity and a pile of talent.

Man, Joe is literally praying the Bucs right the ship and claw their way back to a respectable record before Chucky night.

    Lol….it’s the cockeyed QB….not the coaching….

  2. JabooBuc Says:

Chalk AlteredEgo up as another guy that doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He’s the least of your worries

  3. Seminole Bill Says:

I was at the game yesterday, watching the stinkin’ Panthers dominate the Bucs. We’ll be lucky to be 5-8 by December. A 3-10 record is more likely.

Question: just what does DT Baker provide for this team anyway? Other than running his mouth.

  4. mike n Says:

I don’t see us getting to 5 wins by then.

  5. Seminole Bill Says:

After watching the last few miserable seasons, bring on Chucky.

  6. LakeLand Says:

    Who will be Gruden GM?

  7. redtop5588 Says:

ya right Hes the best QB we have ever had in a Bucs Uniform i can only imagine what Gruden could do with a QB like Winston Gruden use to make magic happen with No name QBs i think he would make Winston a HOF can u imagine our offense running Grudens playbook omg i hope we can right the ship with Dirk but if not i would not be mad a Gruden coming back i mean him an Jason our GM i think he would do some real Damage in the league right now GO BUCS

  8. ElioT Says:

    Please NO!

Come on, with the luck this franchise has, you know that bringing Gruden back would end in complete disaster!

We have to stop living in the past.

    This has to stop.

    Go Sucs!

  9. Hawaiian Buc Says:

I don’t think it will happen, but if it does, I have serious doubts whether Jameis would be a good West Coast QB.

  10. pick6 Says:

it’s hard to put a finger on what exactly is going wrong here but as much as i appreciate Gruden and would take him (in theory) over anybody that’s coached the team since, the whole idea is laden with pitfalls.

Most notably, is JG, speaking with a desperate franchise, going to be able to resist demanding personnel control? that, not coaching, was his undoing last time around. either the front office is cleared out and remade to Gruden’s liking, or Licht is kneecapped just like McKay

And how long would fans and media wait for Gruden to deliver the playoffs? would 2 years with no January action move us on to the next regime? maybe a call to bring dungy out of retirement?

as remote as the possibility is, the best thing for the team is still for these guys to figure a few things out fast and finish the season 7-2 or 6-3 and get one more year to learn from the missteps of 2017. Many teams have had immediate AND sustained success replacing one coaching staff with another. For whatever reason, the bucs have not been that team in the last 10 years\4 coaching hires. I really hope this group finds a way to win and restore belief and spares us another year of manufactured hype around a new regime and yet another roster overhaul

  11. 813bucboi Says:

    @bill

I agree…we may win vs the dolphins….maybe the packers now that AR12 is gone but we have to travel to green bay and we haven’t won on the road yet….jets idk they’re playing better ball than us right now….we may finish 4-12 or 5-11….huge regression with a more talented team from last year….GO BUCS!!!!

  12. Warrenfb12 Says:

If they get beat by the jets it’s going to get ugly…

  13. Buc'dUp920 Says:

All I could heard was, ” SWITCH TO FITZ, SWITCH TO FITZ!!”

  14. Neo Says:

Year after year it all comes down to the team firing the coaches. well we have fired a lot of coaches and issues persist then I am thinking it has to come down on the common denominator here….(The players) and not all of them but I think a good chunk of them either just don’t care or aren’t good enough.

  15. AlteredEgo Says:

So far Jameis reminds me of Trent Dilfer with a pleasant personality

  16. Drew Says:

Think about what Gruden would do with this Offense and decent DC.

  17. Dewey Selmon Says:

No way. The ship will be righted. Give the whole regime another year, C’mon man we can’t go through this again.

  18. GhostofSchiano Says:

    Agree with Seminole Bill

    I see us at 6-10

a split with falcons / saints. Victories over Dolphins and Jets. 6-10.

    2018 draft Licht drafts RD1 – Kicker RD2 – Longsnapper RD3- punter RD4-QB

    Buc’dUp920 Says:

All I could heard was, ” SWITCH TO FITZ, SWITCH TO FITZ!!”

Is that what they were saying? It sounded to melike they were chanting “B!tch aint Sh1t, B1tch aint Sh1t.

    WOW….that is actually a relief.

  20. derrickbrooksforGM Says:

They paid good money they have every damn right to chant whatever they want.

  21. Neo Says:

I don’t want to go through this again, I mean its heart wrenching watching this team lose every weekend and not give us a single glimmer of hope. I honestly don’t think this should fall all on the coaches, we have fired a lot of coaches and the same stuff still happens. They need something…perhaps a talk from the big suits or someone outside influence to wake them up.

This hurts a fan…it’s not fair after all we all have been through with this organization.

  22. Tom T. Says:

Leave Koetter where he is and this will get fixed. No need for house cleaning again!

  23. JonBuc Says:

At least it would be interesting/compelling. Now most fans have reached a point of apathy…which is more damaging than anger towards a franchise.

  24. Waterboy Says:

0 playoff wins in 5 or 6 years following that 2003 super bowl. No thanks.

  25. firethecannons Says:

at he very least some changes need to be made –Koetter needs to give up playcall duty, it is not working for the Bucs outfit or for jameis

  26. Bucs4821 Says:

Yeah, it’s not like that Giants team they lost to in 2007 went on to win 3 road games and beat an undefeated Patriots team to win the Super Bowl…

  27. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Good luck.

First, Gruden is all talk. Sure, he claims to want to coach again someday, but he loves his current job and would be risking losing it forever if he coached again. He’s John Freaking Madden’s replacement! Job of a lifetime for him.

Second, why would he come back to Tampa, knowing full well that the Glazers are not patient enough to keep him on past two years if the Bucs have some issues?

Then he will have given up the dream job for another job that lasted only two years.

Get real, people. Use your heads.

  28. Keir Says:

Chucky is by far my favorite coach and I would love to see him scowling on the sidelines again, but I cant blame Dirk for all of this. It seems like there is something wrong beyond all of this, just a sense of helpless meandering with no direction. Jameis has NOT progressed, Completions over the middle are almost a guarantee against this defense. Dumb penalties, stupid players ( looking at you NO Swag Baker )

It would be nice to see a system that paid players based on their performance from game to game…I know, never gonna happen ( in this league anyway )

  29. SteelStudBuc Says:

I think it’s more of a position coach thing. Could use AN coach upgrade… D Line coach, DB’s, And definitely a better offensive coordinator. A reputable name. He can call the plays and let Dirk focus on being a Head Coach. He’s too distracted calling the plays.
I think after draft and free agency this off season well see a big time push for defense. Next year will be better.

  30. SteelStudBuc Says:

    QB Coach upgrade*

  31. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    JonBuc Says
“At least it would be interesting/compelling.”

Until Jon decides he wants an older veteran at quarterback and tears apart the part of the team that is actually looking better.

People seem to forget the way he tore apart the team. And defense? Not his strong point at all.

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Um…Jameis has progressed. He is on pace for 5,000 yards this year…as opposed to just over 4,000 last year.

    That’s progression.

He still has a ways to go, but he IS getting better.

  33. JimmyJack Says:

This thing is getting very ugly. There’s a reason why fans are blaming Licht, Dirk, Winston, M.Smith, GMC, Baker/Ward, ect…………There is an obvious problem over at One Buc. Something is missing that good football teams have and we don’t.

I spent last night arguing with fellow fans. All us fans have the same problem. We know this team is no good but we are just fans that only see the final product on TV or in the stands. It’s only guess work from a fans prospective. It has gotten so bad that us fans have taken to blaming each other at times. Trust me I literally had to denfend myself last night while stating my opinions.

At the end of the day only one persons opinion matters and that is the owners. That’s where I believe the frustration from us fans has its true roots. Have our owners really done much of anything to have us fans believe they are capable of fixing organisational problems? That question has a simple answer IMO.

    Rumor Mill – ProFootballTalk

Bucs fans begin to clamor for Jon Gruden

  35. daveman Says:

I don’t see Gru coaching again. His current gig keeps him in the game without the 16 hour days 10 months a year.

  36. Not there yet Says:

If gruden had a competent gm when he was here they would have never fired him and we’d probably have multiple rings. That’s one way to look at overreacting and firing a head coach but that’s not the case for Dirk. We gave up draft picks for gruden and he was a winner from the moment he got here no before he got here. Takes a certain type to be able to handle head coach duties

  37. Dewey Selmon Says:

Jameis isn’t going to hit 5,000 yards. He has 1800 and the Saints are the halfway mark.

  38. daveman Says:

BucBonzai. Most of those yards have come late in games when down by more than 1 score. Stats may not be for losers in every case, but looking at QB passing yards are.

  39. destinjohnny Says:

give gruden a badasss gm and we win a Super Bowl in 3 years

  40. AlteredEgo Says:

Never should have fired Gruden….he hasn’t lost a game since…

  41. Waterboy Says:

Gruden doesn’t want a GM he wants full control which is exactly why he ran Rich McKay off a year after winning the super bowl and had them bring in his guy from Oakland. Gruden would be a great offensive coordinator but his ego is too big to not have full control which is exactly he got fired the first time. I still think him for the super bowl but thought he should’ve been fired about 2 or 3 years before the Glazers made the move. That defense carried his teams until they got too old and Kiffin left.

  42. AlteredEgo Says:

I think Gruden and McKay had issues going back to the old days when John McKay coached the Bucs and Gruden’s dad was the RB coach…just a hunch I’ve always had

  43. Not there yet Says:

Seems like this GM coaching tandem are content to let things be as they are and play the status quo like usual. Either they are incompetent or feel very secure they’ll have jobs next year. Either way I’m offended.

If it weren’t ex buc players letting the coaching staff have it and it was just fans complaint that would be one thing but whenever ex greats have a problem with the way the team is being run that’s another sign that your headed down the wrong path

  44. Gencoimports Says:

Bringing Gruden back is not the answer. DK needs to show he can adapt his game planning to ensure another change? JL is done

  45. JimmyJack Says:

Water boy…..Great point. Once the Glazers handed Gruden the keys to the franchise this franchise went downhill. They have been clueless ever since. It was my opinion that we had hit rock bottom when it got so bad Lovie Smith played to lose and played for a draft choice. You could make an argument that giving Gruden the power back then was the absolute worst decision this franchise has ever made.

One would think the good thing about rock bottom is that you can only go up but just ask any recovering drunk and they can surely tell you that you can come up only to fall back down and hit a newer lower rock bottom. With the current state of things that seems like a very vey likely direction here.

  46. JimmyJack Says:

That being said there can’t be a chance they ever let Gruden run the show again. Glazers may not be bright football minds but they are no dummy’s

  47. Bernie K Says:

Please Chucky Come Back, We need you Help us take pity on US

  48. Bucnjim Says:

Waterboy sorry but the D carried Dungys team never Gruden’s! The Super Bowl team had 20 new players mostly on offense ALL brought in by Gruden himself. The D he inherited was already getting old which is why the Glazers brought him in before it was too late. Good thing though he has the only Bucs SB Trophy.

  49. Bucnjim Says:

Jimmy jack they sacrificed their future by giving up so many first round picks for Gruden and Keshawn. After the SB they no first or second round picks for a long time.

  50. Bucnjim Says:

Was well worth the Super Bowl victory!

  51. LocalJoker Says:

Gruden protege’ Scott Frost/UCF. Has Buc ties! Would be fresh ideas!

  52. ScottyinFatAntonio Says:

So is Magoo the new Coach Killer?

  53. Bobby M. Says:

Food for thought….Gruden sent Griese, Garcia and Johnson to Pro Bowls….Winston is more talented then those guys. Winston will succeed under Gruden

  54. JimmyJack Says:

Bucnjim…….Yeah I will still take that trade any day.

The only thing about winning a title is that nobody ever told me one SuperBowl would never be enough.

I remember the following year we returned all our core players and how hungry I was to see us make another run and hopefully repeat. That entire season was one of the biggest chokes this city has seen. And IMO, was one of the worst coached years in this franchises history.

  55. nate_tweetz Says:

No to Gruden. Nostalgia and current bad play by the Bucs have people thinking irrationally. Gruden’s players couldn’t stand him during his last year here. He admittedly couldn’t figure out how to have Joey Galloway and Antonio Bryant on the field at the same time! Patience please!

  56. Joeypoppems Says:

Meh, I would prefer a defendive minded HC. I’m with Blake on the Matt Patricia idea

  57. Waterboy Says:

Sorry Bucnjim I remember Derrick Brooks and Rhonde Barber scoring a lot of TD’s during that super bowl year. I think Brooks had about 4 TD’s that year and Barber had several also. Back in those days 20 pts was enough for the Bucs to win games.

2002 – 18th in scoring and 24th in Total yards
2003 – 18th in scoring and 10th in Total yards
2004 – 23rd in scoring and 22nd in total yards
2005 – 20th in scoring and 23rd in total yards

  59. JimmyJack Says:

I don’t understand where any of this Gruden talk is even coming from……. Sounds like it’s just dumb fans saying dumb things. Has Gruden expressed any interest at all in this notion?

Just saying we want Gruden doesn’t make it a likely scenario. Worth a listen I guess for the Monday Night broadcast but highly doubtful his playbyplay guy would put him on the spot.

Do we have a Monday night game? That could be interesting.

  60. JimmyJack Says:

Nate……….That’s enough with your crowd calling for patience. It’s been 15 years bro. This franchise should be lucky we are even here talking about this team. They don’t deserve the patience we have given them.

  61. HooliganSixx Says:

2018 Clean House and fix it.

    Should hire as follows:

    1. Nick Caserio, currently director of player personnel for New England Patriots, NEW BUCS GM

    2. Jon Gruden, New Head Coach

    3. Rex Ryan, New DC

    fixed.

  62. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Couldn’t we go for a “winning” coach? I love Gruden for that SB…the core of that team was not Dungy’s it was Sam Wyche. Wyche left two HOFers and another potential with Lynch. When you have three HOFers on one defense you should be good.

Bottom line though do people not remember Chucky after the SB. He split his six seasons with three winning seasons and three losing seasons….one season he won 11 games…excellent…two seasons he was 9-7…meh…and the other three seasons he had a losing record. He is two games UNDER .500 in those six years after the SB.

I’m not saying he could not coach our team. I’m just wondering where all the blind belief comes from in a coach with a losing record after the SB.

I was watching nfln last night and they have the Bucs at #12 power ranking. They expect the Bucs to take detroits playoff spot from last yr.
The league seems excited about the upcoming season.
As for me I’m looking at those first 4-5 games like, hmmmm, could go either way. Obviously hoping for 4-1 or 3-2 but with a lil bad luck could go 0-4 to start which would be detrimental

So please stop hating. And remember baker makes 3 mil vs 13 mil.

  70. JimmyJack Says:

St Pete…….I’m of the crowd that Grudens(not counting 2003 that was unforgivable) post SB teams had more to do with his questionable personnel decisions.

It’s unfair to base his coaching ability on just his career in Tampa. He had a lot of success in Oak where Al Davis assembled the team.

IMO Jon Gruden has proven his worth as a HC. As we saw in his time with Tampa he has also proven he is not a very good front office guy. As a head coach? I’ll take him all day.

The Geuden talk is absolutely ridiculous. Stop living in the past.

he won’t come back, and certainly not in a situation where he had LESS power than the last time he was here.

DB55- you are right about Saggy, he had a good game yesterday.

  77. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    JimmyJack

I certainly take your point because I do believe Gruden was his own worst enemy.
He’s a far better HC than GM. Problem is to get him to return can you imagine what we’d have to throw in?

Think we were stupid giving Lovie all that power to get him….Gruden would be able to demand total personnel control and for that matter control of ANY part of the franchise he wanted. That’s just too much power for any ONE guy.

The other nagging doubt I have about Chucky is that he seemed to be like many great coaches who start off on fire…get a team worked up and motivated and then over a few seasons their act wears thin and they lose their players. I’m not sure Chucky had the locker room his last few years here.

  78. Bobby M. Says:

How far would Gruden go without Kiffin?

You realize it was Grudens Raiders in the Super Bowl we played in right?

  79. SteveK Says:

    DB55,

  80. AceofAerospace Says:

If I thought it would get Gruden back, I’d gladly root for a 2-14 record. I just don’t trust the trust fund babies to do the right thing and I don’t trust that Gruden would want to work for these ass-hats again. One can only hope.

  81. AlteredEgo Says:

    coaching is not the problem….

  82. BurgDweller Says:

Gruden will never be the answer again for this team. I understand the desperation many fans are feeling, and yes, Gruden did bring us a championship, but history does not erase his horrible player evaluation, train wreck draft choices and the fact he could not develop a young QB with no interest in ever doing so. Let the past stay in the past and put a little more confidence that Koetter will right the ship.

  83. DBS Says:

Why even talk about this? Do you really think the Glazers would bring Gruden back? That would be like saying they made a mistake and should have never let him go to begin with. My opinion. I never see them even considering it. Not as HC anyway.

  84. BigMacAttack Says:

I think Gruden can win a Super Bowl with Koetter’s team.

  85. JimmyJack Says:

Agreed St Pete…….The Glazers pretty much stay out of the way when it comes to football decisions. Not sure how stupid it was to give Lovie the power just because I don’t know who their next option would have been.

I think we can all agree that they couldn’t keep letting Mark Dominick keep calling the shots.

If they do somehow rehire Gruden I’d support it because I see no possible way they bring him in with full control. It just makes no sense to go back down the same road.

I think if Gruden could work with Licht we could see success……..But I think the worst decision that needs to be answered right now is whose awful idea it was to bring in Djax……..The Glazers have a track record of keeping their wallet closed unless they feel we are a few key pieces away(which isn’t often). Somebody had to convince our owners that Djax was a missing link and they can’t be happy about that. Can’t see how they are happy to spend a good chunk of money only to watch the team get worse. Lots of disappointment to go around, including this guy right here.

  86. Matts17 Says:

What in the world makes you think this team will have 5 wins by then?

  87. westernbuc Says:

Each and everyone of you calling for the coaches and GM to be fired and replaced with an ESPN talking head are either drunk, trolling, or so mentally deficient that your miserable lives are spent watching 9/11 truther videos and ripping the bong.

The fact is, chasing coaches out of town turns this team into the Browns. Do you think if we fired Koetter, the best available coach is going to want to come here? Absolutely not. He’d much rather go to the Bears or the Colts, where you get about 4 years to figure it out.

Our team under Mark Dominik was poorly stocked with talent. He whiffed on too many picks, and found too few of gems in later rounds. By the time Lovie and Licht came around, they were kneecapped in talent that a better GM wouldn’t have left a team.

Lovie blew it by chasing out everyone, including Revis, who didn’t fit his system, then got a bunch of Bears castoffs to fit his ways. By the way, good coaches work with the talent they have, not force a bad fit on them.

If not for Keotter’s offense in Lovie’s second year, that team may not have won a game. If not for Jameis’s gradual development, I’d understand wanting to fire him. But Jameis has gotten better every year, heck every game you see he’s more comfortable and better with his decision making.

If this team fired Koetter and Licht, I am done watching. I’m already sick of the protests and BSPN’s constant politicization of the sport for their own agenda, so it will be easy for me to walk away.

And that’s not an empty threat. I went to the Arizona game this year, so I have invested in this team. Keep a steady course, build through the draft, and this team, in time will have a Super Bowl. Joe will have to call him Super Bowl Winning Coach Koetter, he’ll have to start calling Licht The Rockstar, and by god Jameis might actually become America’s Quarterback.

But that will never happen if we fire coaches every two years, or quite frankly, the best GM this team has seen in a long time

Imagine being one of the G’Boyz …..LOL….they are cursed and owners….well except that one deal with the devil….

  89. JimmyJack Says:

I’m not feeling this Arians love at all. They have built a decent squad in Arizona but is that just because of Arians.

I realise the guy has gotten them to a couple of playoff berths but any time I have watched them in January all I can remember is them laying an egg. Can’t say I totally disagree with him being on the hot seat

  90. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

This post is literally filled with some of the stupidest people on this planet. If this coaching staff can’t get the best out of the talent we have them maybe we should move on. Koetters offense is predicated on a good run game, which we can’t produce. The absolute unwillingness to adjust his offense will be his undoing. We have literally run 8 slants all year. SMH

  91. JimmyJack Says:

DBS honestly I really don’t think the Glazers would let pride get in their way of hitting some playoff paydirt followed by years of publicity on Prime Time games. Followed by Super Bowl runs.

They have got caught with their tails between their legs plenty of times in their HC searches………Gotta admire the fact that they would save no face to bring us a quality coach, it’s just a shame they come back from their buck hunt with a squirrel most often.

  92. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @westernbuc
I can’t say that I agree. JW3 has DRASTICALLY regressed this season, his deep ball is horrendous and the system didn’t help.

  93. AlteredEgo Says:

Koetters playbook /game calling…..LOL….there are only variations of a dozen and a half plays in football….all success comes from execution and individual desire

  94. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

U sir are the official troll of JBF. Do u Kobe and Tmax all hang out on the weekends?

  95. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Look at the chiefs. This is a real nfl offense. These guys play with heart. Something our team has none of.

  96. JimmyJack Says:

GOAT……..I question Dirks playbook sometimes but the problem with his team seems like it has to be way deeper then just that. It goes deeper then just talent too IMO.

Maybe it’s a lot harder to get 53 grown men prepared and ready to lay it all out on the field each week. Lots of these players have their career hanging in the balance…….It’s not like they are college kids that don’t know any better then to just listen.

Most fans might hate to hear this but did Dirk really do all he could for ASJ? There is no denying the guy had talent. Could something have been done to make the guy turn his career around here? Or did the guy have to get fired before he got it together?

Lots of Bucs fans will tell you tales of how many players seem to not work here then somehow move to a different team and find success…….Is it just a coincidence that we also always seem to have lacklustre coaching?

I called out Dirk yesterday out of pure frustration. I’m done with that and will be willing to see how he finishes this year. Given his track record and the magnitude/performance of yesterday’s game I am causiously pessimestic

  97. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Matt Patricia is a name I have come to watch. He is being groomed as the next coach in NE. He is a defensive guy just like belicheat, He is a no bullspit kinda guy, and he is learning from the best ever. IF we move on from Dirk, Patricia is my number 1B behind Gruden.

  98. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

We promoted Dirk because he was the best OC for JW3 development (so we thought) not because he was the best HC candidate. We can’t do that again. We must hire the BEST HC candidate. Not a promotable OC.

  99. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Mike Evans GOAT

    Agree 100%.

  100. westernbuc Says:

    @Mike Evans GOAT

Jameis has never been great wth a long ball, our longest pass last year was only 45 yards. He’s made some bad over throws, but he seems to be making less questionable throws and tossing it away rather than forcing it.

These are the little things you look for in the development of a young quarterback.

Also, Matt Patricia? Please, New England’s defense is horrendous. Why? They don’t have a pass rush. Kinda like Mike Smith’s defense.

  101. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Patricia is going to be the next currently not hired HC to win a SB

  102. JimmyJack Says:

I think the Glazers should go for a third fishing trip in the retirement pond and try to bring the Big Tuna back to Tampa with them.

  103. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Westernbuc
JW3 never had a problem with the deep ball @FSU. Only once he got here and Dirk/bajakian changed his throwing motion.
And Patricia has been calling plays in NE since 2009 there defensive rankings are as follows
    5,8,15,9,10,8,10,1,18
18th is this year, and he lost Hightower, ninkovich, and Collins. Just sayin

  104. Bucsace Says:

Personally, I enjoy the coaching changes……I find the coaching drama here in TB almost as entertaining as the football itself……funny, Buccaneers and Gators both coaching carousels…….something in the water?

  105. Eric Says:

You shareholders ran the man out of town. Along with Michael Clayton.

    I knew we were doomed…..

  106. Dirty Bucs Says:

Can’t wait to be here after the Bucs pay Winston wayyy too much money for his 2nd contract, watch him continue to perform at exactly the same level he is now (which means bad decisions, inaccuracy, and floating balls over the middle), and say I TOLD YOU SO to all of you Winston nut swingers.

Of course, I’d rather be wrong….I’m just not.

  107. Reach87 Says:

Again with the “bring back Gruden” talk, as if he doesn’t get a vote and you can cry enough and make it so. Sad. Go coach K! Go Bucs!

  108. bucs_365 Says:

Gruden chants come from the dumbest fans on the planet. Do they remember how Gruden decimated the roster and couldn’t develop a QB? This makes about as much sense as believing the Crooked Donny is a truth teller.

  109. Kgh4life Says:

How do you guys expect the Bucs to win when every two to three years you all want a different coach and QB. I guess the Browns is a great organization to model after.

  110. Not there yet Says:

Doesn’t really matter because if Jason licht gets fired and they hire a new gm Dirk just may be doomed by default

  111. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

I don’t get where the Licht hate comes in. He has given this coaching staff more than enough tools to be successful. Including a top 3 offense on paper. The scheme and lack of defensive fire is what is killing us. JW3 being hurt and Dirk not adjusting the offense doesn’t help either

  112. Buc1987 Says:

Jon Gruden will NEVER coach in the NFL again.

    Sooo true and well said.

  114. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

The last 3 KC plays is Dirks Offense in a nutshell.

  115. Bucballbaby84 Says:

I love my Bucs. Forever and ever. Here’s the problem right now. We have the worst 3rd down defense I think I have ever seen in my lifetime. We can’t rush the passer for the life of us. V.H.111 is a straight up bust to me cause his performance’s do not go in sync with him being drafted 11th overall. They got him playing nickel spot night when Team is healthy. Jameis is horrible with the deep ball right now. Keep hopes low this year and cheer hard still! Next year can do a lot of good for us through the draft. Trade for Dominique Rodgers-cromartie like now plz!

  116. Smokeymountainbucfan Says:

A top 3 offense that just laid 3 points vs the panthers? Good grief

  117. THETRUTH Says:

Joe : I’m sure with your knowledge you are aware many players did not like or trust chucky. This being some of the players people here view as the icons. I know of players walking out of game plan meetings and saying he is full of sh!!

Chucks didn’t know how to use Galloway in his offense he said himself , guess that means he can’t use DJ

I LIKE CHUCKY but let’s get off this soap box and made up rumor hoping to create smoke for a fire.

Stick to a coach and let’s develop this team.

Name a player Buc fans have not turned on with this current team ?

  118. westernbuc Says:

    @Mile Evans

I can’t speak to coaches changing his throwing motion, but throwing a deep ball to Kelvin Benjamin over a bunch of glorified high school safeties is a bit different in the NFL.

As for Patricia, your defense looks better when everyone is playing from behind. Brady’s offense is usually up early, forcing opposing teams to throw more.

And it’s true he lost Ninkovich and whatnot, so what makes you think he’d succeed here? It’s the same situation, no pass rush and no turnovers. He’d be playing with an empty cupboard just as Mike Smith has.

Let Licht focus on developing a pass rush through draft and free agency, plus maybe another corner, and watch the fireworks.

Suddenly, Jameis is gonna look a lot better. Football is won at the line of scrimmage. If Licht figures that out within next year or two, this team will be a perennial playoff contender.

  119. Getaclue Says:

You know how Gruden likes his vets, he might actually bring Simeon Rice in hahaha

  120. Easy Denman Says:

Our defense is the main problem and we need to give Rex Ryan a look and see what he thinks about coaching here as a DC.

  121. denjoe Says:

Were in this mess, because our GM didn’t address our biggest needs.

  122. D-Rome Says:

    Joe adores Koetter….

Again, why? Do you adore him because he makes your job easier and is more quotable? Do you hang out with him after games and have BBQ’s at your house? Do you really think he’s “more honest” than previous head coaches?

He’s doing a terrible job with the most talented Bucs team in years. Simple as that.

  123. JMarkBuc Says:

    Western buc says

If not for Keotter’s offense in Lovie’s second year, that team may not have won a game. If not for Jameis’s gradual development, I’d understand wanting to fire him. But Jameis has gotten better every year, heck every game you see he’s more comfortable and better with his decision making.

    ———————–
You did watch the game Sunday right? JW can’t hit the broadside of a barn..and his “shovel” pass to DM, seriously? High schoolers wouldn’t pull that. I won’t even get into the int’s. JW is not good and is not developing. This is year three after all. Don’t know what you are looking at western buc.

    And the uniforms are ugly

  124. Pittbucfan Says:

It’s just another sad time to be a Bucs fan.
