Gameday Tampa Bay!
October 29th, 2017Game 7
Stinking Panthers at Bucs
Kickoff: 1 p.m.
TV: WTVT-.TV Channel 13, DirecTV Channel 710
Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network (WXTB-FM 97.9 in Tampa-St. Petersburg region); SiriusXM Channel 138.
Weather: Joe had to do a double-take when he looked at the forecast on AccuWeather.com. Joe thought he was looking at a weather update from Charlotte. It is actually going to be a Florida winter day in October. Tailgaters will need a jacket with temperatures expected in the mid-60s. At kickoff, look for a temperature of 68 and it shouldn’t budge until after the game. All under sunny skies.
Odds: Per FootballLocks.com, Bucs -1.5.
Outlook: Joe’s stomach is turning thinking of this game. Carolina is a good team no matter the mood of pouty Cam Newton. The Bucs will be without Brent Grimes and Robert McClain, so the already shaking pass defense is wide open to get lit up like a Roman candle. It would be nice if the Bucs got an edge rush (what edge rush?) but Joe has to live in the real world. Joe has as much of a chance of sharing a shower with a Bucs cheerleader this morning as the Bucs do of winning the game by putting Newton on the ground. The only way Joe can see the Bucs winning this game is with winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter going full-blown Air Coryell and hang 50 on the Stinking Panthers. Not only will Koetter have to worry about Carolina’s defense, he has to outscore his own defense! Now common sense would suggest if you run the ball and play keep-away, Carolina cannot score, and in theory this is true. Again, Joe has to live in reality and the reality with the Bucs offense is the lone area where it stinks is the run game. Oh, and Luke Kuechly is expected to return today, so there’s another reason not to try to run the ball 45 times. Joe thinks this game is going to be a complete and total jailbreak by the Stinking Panthers. It’s going to be a long afternoon.
Trinkets: The Stinking Panthers are 3-1 on the road. … Carolina’s defense is on a roll as it held the Bears to a total of five first downs and 153 yards total offense last week, both franchise records — in a loss! Carolina has the third-ranked defense in the NFL allowing opponents an average of 261.9 yards a game. … Carolina has committed the fewest penalties in the NFL (29). … DE Julius Peppers leads Carolina in sacks with 6.5 and is tied with Jags’ Yannick Ngakoue at No. 8 in the NFL. … When QB Cam Newton runs the ball on third down, he converts 41.9 percent of his attempts into first downs. Newton is also No. 3 in Carolina franchise history with 3,727 yards rushing. … Only Chris Thompson of Washington has more receiving yards for a running back (366) than RB Christian McCaffery (329). … MLB Luke Kuechly is expected back today. Since he entered the league in 2012, no linebacker has more tackles (739). … The Bucs have the No. 1 passing offense in the NFL. Let those words sink in. …
On the flip side, the Bucs have the No. 30 rushing offense in the NFL. … Last week OLB Lavonte David had 14 tackles, the most he’s had in a game in two years. … TE O.J. Howard’s 98 yards receiving last week was the most in a game for any Bucs tight end since ASJackwagon racked up 110 yards receiving in the notorious Tennessee-Ready game to open the 2015 season. … WR Mike Evans is tied with Kevin House for the second-most receiving touchdowns in Bucs history (38). He needs three more to tie Jimmie Giles for the franchise record. … QB Jameis Winston threw for three touchdowns in a loss at Buffalo. He now has seven games in which he has thrown for at least three touchdowns. The only Bucs quarterback who had more was Brad Johnson (8).

Panthers 34-23 even though we have the far superior QB … our defense is the worst in the NFL and it may take a near miracle to win this game … I really hope the Bucs don’t waste Jameis’ career the way the Dolphins and Chargers wasted Marino and Fouts’ careers …

By the way, what’s up with the two ladies’ pics?
October 29th, 2017 at 1:28 am
I always thought the blonde was kind of hot. The one on the left …………..decorum prevents me from stating it here.

@Nut — they were Panthers cheerleaders who were arrested after sexing it up together after a game ((?) I think) in a ladies bathroom stall in a Tampa club while others were waiting in line, some in urgent need of the facility. About 10 years ago?

Mug shots?
October 29th, 2017 at 2:51 am
Me Ed is correct. The girls got it on at A Channel side bar.

Bucs lose in a laugher 38-18 and it really won’t be that close. Garbage yards by our offense after the Panthers jump out to a 28-0 lead. Calls for firing the inept coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball in full swing and Koetter starts to look a lot like dead man coaching like Raheem, Schiano, etc. What a turn from the anticipation of a playoff run to utter disaster. It really sucks being a life long Bucs fan (since 1980). Looking to the draft to try and figure out who the best player in college football is that can catch the quarterback and reek havoc in the backfield. We are lost without a defense. Go Bucs!

@Nut — see, the game was a lot more fun before political correctness stuff. Back in my day if girls wanted to get it on in a stall they were welcome to use the mens room!

@Nut — here’s a link, (there are many more) the incident happened in 2005.

Bucs will win this game, the defense plays really well at home
October 29th, 2017 at 6:02 am
I’m with Guzzie. Bucs will win this game 38-35 IF (1) they have at least 35 mins TOP; (2) win the turnover battle big time; and (3) they use quick short passes (including slants/rubs) rather than the deep passing game. Cam turned the ball over THREE (3) times in EACH of their 3 losses … and that’s what ultimately cost them those games. They’ve done quite well against the deep passes, but they’re susceptible in the short/intermediate passing game. But the only way I see this Bucs team beating them is in a high-scoring shootout. If Cam doesn’t turn the ball over, we’ll get whooped.

I remember this well. I ‘d have loved to see it.

And the mantra “KEEP POUNDING” was born!
October 29th, 2017 at 7:33 am
Mr. Ed, you are correct, though I think it was Saturday night before a game. The who cheerleading squad didn’t come down obviously, but these two came on their own. The funny part was one of them, think it was the brunette, used a fake ID as it actually belonged to another cheerleader who didn’t come down! So she got in WORSE trouble.

Ah Joe….I love tradition!
Thanks for never letting that one die.
Bucs win today 19-16!
October 29th, 2017 at 8:09 am
5th loss coming up and we’re probably picking about 5th in the draft….so fitting.
October 29th, 2017 at 8:55 am
It’s the NFL which means it normally goes opposite of what you would expect. Everyone taking the Panthers: Bucs win
Everyone taking over on points scored: Lower scoring game
Final Score Bucs 23 Panthers 20

Dang they could have used my house!

AP – Two Carolina Panthers cheerleaders were arrested after a bar dispute that broke out early Sunday after patrons complained the women were having sex in a bathroom stall, a police arrest report said. Police reports named the women, but The Tampa Tribune reported officials were checking into whether one of them gave a false identification. One woman was charged with battery, and the other with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Both women were released on bond later Sunday
The women were locked in a stall at about 2:10 a.m. Sunday when other patrons got angry they were taking so long in the bathroom, the police report said. The women left the stall, and one began arguing with another patron of Banana Joe’s, eventually hitting that patron in the face with a closed fist, police said.
The incident happened 11 hours before the kickoff of the Panthers’ NFL football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The cheerleaders traveled to Tampa on their own because members of the team’s Top Cats squad are on the sidelines only at home games. Panthers officials told The Charlotte Observer at Sunday’s game that they were aware of the reported incident, but declined further comment.
