Joe thinks this is an absolute load.
It seems there must be a narrative going around that America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, was a lovesick teenage girl this past week because he is starstruck with Patriots great Tom Brady, and that somehow threw him off his preparation.
The things that folks will invent!
No, Jameis didn’t have a great start to his game Thursday night, but he brought the team back when it needed it. Jameis wasn’t the guy tanking field goal attempt after field goal attempt! Jameis wasn’t the guy who ran a wrong route on the final play of the game. Jameis didn’t drop a touchdown pass in the end zone.

One of the biggest problems is that Jameis doesn’t know how to throw a deep ball.
If he chucks anything past 20 yrds…..hold your breath people cause you don’t know how “off” he’ll be with the pass.
Why do you think he loves ME13 so much, all them damn 50/50 balls, and that’s why DeSean ain’t getting alota passes his way cause DeSean can’t go up and get it like a rebound in basketball…..and that’s what ME13 dies best.
If you really want to point a finger at who’s holding this offense……look no further than JW.
Until Jameis can get pass his mental blocks, poor mechanics, and bad decisions making……he’ll never take that infamous “next step” to being a great QB.

Who the hell cares? Need to focus more on our getting all our star players back healthy, a kicker that can come at least close to a 50+ kick, and do something with this secondary defensive scheme that just isn’t working. I don’t care if Winston and Tom want to dress up in their in their onesie’s and have a pillow fight. Just worry about the W’s.

U r absolutely correct!!! Just let JW play the way he knows how to n we win. No huddle, roll outs, n make smart runs when need to.Koetter does not know how to use JW. Man if we had Harbaugh as coach we would b undefeated. Reminds me of JW rookie year when he he was on fire n lit the redskins up the first then Lovie put the cuffs on the second half. Let JW run more naked bootlegs on the goal line on fourth down n we don’t need to kick a field goal. As evidence based, coaching is our real issue.

I stated after the vikes game It’s clear they’ve coached all the “Fameis” out of Jameis Winston. Too many minds in his head,now people round are starting to see it. These have a true jewel of a football player but they trying to fit him into the mold of other QBs instead of allowing him to simply “Be” him. Jimbo understood this,go watch some film of him in school and peep the ease in which he connected on deep throws. The problem is all this technical bulls+!%. Stand like this,hold the ball like that. When these brainiacs realize it would be best to get out his d@$! head we’ll consistently start winning some football games. Until then..

I am amazed that Mike Golic never cleaned Greenberg’s clock while they were on the air together. It reminded me of the Scot Brantley-Steve Duemig radio show of the ’90s and we know what happened there! The nicest thing I can say about Greenie is that he is “below average”….

If the human ATM, America’s quarterback and pro bowler, Jameis Winston, could consistently throw a catchable deep pass, we would be undefeated. JW’s deep passes are always off target and until he learns how to throw a catchable deep pass, we will suffer. Most of the great quarterbacks can hit that deep ball from time to time and I’m beginning to doubt if the annointed one can ever do it. Get another kicker in here by the way. That crap about having to hold your breath on every kick incuding extra points is beyond old.

Booger’s right: Bucs have a lot bigger things to be concerned about. And it’s not receivers dropping passes … every QB (including Brady Thursday night) has that happen every game. Obviously hurts more when it happens in the end zone, but again, it happens. First time however I’ve read that one of our receivers (I’m assuming OJ but maybe not) ran a wrong route on that play. THAT’S A PROBLEM. Most likely a communications problem, and those seem to burn us time & time again.
I have no doubts that the Bucs will eventually fix the FG issue (one that we created ourselves years ago). And Jameis really doesn’t need ‘fixing’ like far too many seem to be saying recently. He’s got all the skills & talent we need in our QB. And he’s got an OLine that can protect him & all the weapons that he needs. Our injuries have almost all been on the defensive side of the ball. There’s only 1 reason Bucs are only putting up 20-22 points per game instead of 30-35: game planning & play-calling. Love Koetter as a HC, but Dirk the OC has to start doing a better job of getting this offense into a rhythm much earlier in games, controlling the clock & putting TDs on the board instead of trying 49 yd FGs with an iffy kicker. Game planning & play-calling is putting us (and the defense) behind the 8-Ball almost every game it seems.

Jameis play has certainly been a problem, wether it be under/overthrowing MULITPLE recievers, the fact that when he breaks containment with his feet he’s much more likely to throw a misplaced ball and the biggest one of them all imo, is staring down his receivers. NFL defensive backs are way too good at playing the waiting game or baiting a QB into thinking his WR has more room to catch & run as he can. INTs aren’t the only indicator of sub-par QB play and WRs also have to do their job securing catches. With the return of Doug Martin, hopefully our offense balances itself out, BUT mark my words, Jameis Winston throwing more than 30 passes in a game means we’ll probably end up losing, way too much for him to be doing even at this point in his career.

If Jameis had another minute or so to work, maybe the statement would be true, but coming back obviously fell short. For every FG missed is a bigger story about a drive that stalled. Folk was directly responsible for misses and lost points, but it is the truth that this offense has trouble finishing drives. Jameis is a big part of that.

Stop making excuses for #3. He was horrible…no matter how much lipstick you try and put on that pig in postgame…its still ugly. I saw the drops article and its sounded like excuses.
Anyway, he gets no pass. He is regressing again. He has not had a great game all year; Giants game was good but not great.
I have to wonder what he and QB coach have been working on as it is not showing during game time. Long ball looks the same; his pocket presence looks same; his footwork looks same; his pre-snap recognition looks same. I could go on. I would change QB coach this next off season.
Third downs….not a single completion until late in the third…thats on #3. He is there to keep the chains moving and simply put he is not getting it done. It looks like the Hard Knocks curse lives on…..even at 2-2. Koetter made things worse by using his high school play script last game. WTF is going on with this team? His 300 passing is a mirage of lipstick on the pig…so when people say he threw for over 4000…it really means little. He is horrible at this point…and its year 3. This is the year I stated would make or break him as a long term NFL player.

I wabt to see Jameis calm the F… down just before the game. The guys so..geeked up and sweating. I think it takes him a whole half to really get where he needs to be. And with the real good teams like the Pats? 2 qtrs of lapse is to much time…even one. I just want him to see the field better and go to the checkdowns here and there. Also Dirk can do better with the play calling. He’s got to. Hope they practice with lots of music and noise this week. I’ve been to that AZ Cardinal stadium. Its like Arrowhead in KC. Our Offense will not be able to hear themselves.

Jameis on the run is much more accurate than when he is just standing in the pocket. I don’t understand why Koetter continues to try to hit deep balls to DJ when plays like the slant pass at end of game can better use DJ’s speed advantage, and put the 50\50 balls up for Evans. Add in Martin running with a chip on his shoulder in a contract year, this offense can go, but it won’t because Koetter won’t change. He’s been doing this for 37 years remember, why should he change now (outside of the fact that he has barely been an above average coordinator and mediocre college head coach)?

Are we serious? The guy has an extreme lack in ability to see the field. He can’t throw the deep ball! His leadership and attitude are great but those don’t matter if you can’t make the play. The he didn’t get it done early but brought us back… same thing he did in college. But that’s college! For Joe being so against Martin and excuses being made for him, his excuses for Winston are hilarious to me. I am not saying he won’t get it… because as Joe like to say he is young! But he is also been in league few years! Kind of running out of the young excuse as far as sports go! Or offense is realistically the reason we didn’t make playoffs last year and will be this year too. Winston is the main head of that beast!

I think the offense would move a lot more smoothly as a whole if Koetter were to relinquish the play calling duties to monken and focus 100% on making the decisions that a HC has to make. I see no other reason as to why this offense could be sputtering so much now with all the talent that we have but was rolling back in 2015 with Koetter serving exclusively as OC.

I feel we had a competent kicker we are 3-1 and just beat the world champs. Everyone would be jumping all over how good the Buccaneers are right now. Let’s not dig into this too much, it was a Thursday night game which can be problems to any team. 2-2 isn’t ideal but we are still in great shape moving forward. Let Folk kick rocks and move on

The lost field goals, the loss of momentum from lost field goals=loss of the game
Simple as that.
Just say we made 2 of the field goals which meant there was no crazy shoot out in the endzone than we would of won the game. Bet we wouldn’t have any complaining about Jameis not being perfect. Put your bitching where it is accurate–= THE FIELD GOAL KICKER IS TO BLAME FOR THIS LOSS!

To say jameis needs to improve is not at all a diss on him. He is a 23 year old with 1 winning season under his belt. He has a ways to go to be considered elite. Oe of those areas are his deep ball accuracy. Another is his stare downs.

Bottom line if we had a kicker we win. Brady had a kicker that’s why he won. Switch kickers and every body would be saying what’s wrong with the Patriots. This high standard for Winston is amazing. Brady settled for field goals many times during the game. If Winston settles for field goals it’s Winston can’t finish. Sit back relax and let Winston develop at his pace,not at a unrealistic standard that a 2 year and 4 game QB Is expected to maintain.

I think Bajakian might have ruined JW3 mechanics. He didn’t have a deep ball problem in college, and when he got here they changed his mechanics because he didn’t have the quickest throwing motion. Let him play the way that got him drafted #1 overall.

Whether he had to much Brady on his mind is doubtful but debatable but what isn’t debatable is his questionable accuracy so yes we do have bigger problem because he isn’t reading progressions, he’s starting down receivers and he’s just not accurate something that wasn’t much of an issue until he got to Tampa

Try to relax guys. You are only 5-6 years away from being good. JW will be a free agent after 2 more years and he will be gone. So you only have this year and 2 more to ‘put up with him’. You will revert to the usual bucs and win 2-3 games a year after he is gone and after a couple of years of that you will have the #1 pick again to go get your QB. Being the bucs you will probably draft the next Favre, and pull an Atlanta and trade him away.
The guy is 23, is learning the NFL game under fire, with an awful team around him and questionable coaching, but he is the problem? And that sports fans is why the bucs are the bucs. While you are searching for the next brady/montana clone, JW will be playing in superbowls on his way to the HOF and you will revert to being the lovable losers we have come to expect. Face it guys, you are bucs fans. Suckage comes with being the bucs and their fans. Water is in fact wet and the bucs are in fact a futile, sucky organization.

We do have a lot bigger problems. Like this offense that can’t score on consistent basis which they should. The reason Nick Folk even had to take those kicks, especially the 31-yarder is because this offense sucks when they get in the endzone.
If Jamies has decent first 3 qtrs, not great, decent, we win that game easily, because our defense, that is less talented than our offense by the way, especially with all the injuries, was balling.
Enough with the narrative that a kicker is our biggest problem, enough. The best QB’s in the NFL would kill for Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, Cameron Brate, OJ Howard, etc. as their weapons. It’s either coaching staff not putting this offense in the position to succeed, or those players, with our franchise QB are not as good as we think we are.
This offense is not playing close to their potential, and if you tell me otherwise you’re either lying or just don’t know football. Something has to change. Offensive productivity is our biggest problem, not our kicker.
If the kicker was the biggest problem, we wouldn’t be 2-2 right now. I guess years of losing did lower our expectations, but folks, (no pun intended) that’s mediocrity. We’ve beaten two really bad teams, and lost to a good one, and one with the worst defense in the NFL in first 4 games.
I love Jamies, but he has to play better. Koetter needs to coach better, call better plays and than this team will have succees that it should.

Joe, I would like you to list off what you think Jameis did effectively Thursday night.
Was Jameis accurate overall?
Did he hit his targets in stride consistently ?
Did he hit the deep ball with accuracy?
Did he read the field efficiently?
Was he clutch ?
Did he CONSISTENTLY finish off drives going through his progressions and hitting targets with accuracy?
It it difficult to list off what Jameis CONSISTENTLY DOES WELL ON THE FIELD.
Accuracy? NO
Deep ball? NO
Progressions? NO
Reading the blitz? NO
CLUTCH TIME PERFORMER? NO
It is also difficult to figure out why JOEBUCSFAN MEDIA REFUSES to put blame on Winston. No issue blaming the fans reaction, kicker, Wrs dropping passes (which i will admit are ALL issues that effected the game). Jameis throwing inaccurate passes? NOPE! NOTHING TO SEE HERE! NOTHING TO WRITE ABOUT HERE! Jameis struggling to consistently read the field and deliver a strike with accuracy? NOTHING TO SEE HERE ! Your failure to cover Winston’s performance with ACCURACY, resembles CNN covering HRC/DNC during the election. NO ISSUES HERE ! NOTHING TO SEE HERE !

My concern is it is agreed no one puts in more time in practice and in film than JW but he does the same dang thing! Superb leader but poor decision maker while inaccurate… So far this is who he is… Not super optimistic he is going to change.

Lots of rats here. Winston is the best qb we have every had and will only get better this year. If you know NFL football, you know the issue with this last game is you must make your kicks. This helps maintain momentum alters the opponent’s momentum. This is not madden where you can play at the basic level and score every time. True fans keep the faith. There is no learned reason to give up now. A plethora of reasons to believe in this team (oline performing, qb protecting the football, martin and rogers running hard, defense getting healthier, playcalling more diverse, tight locker room…). These things will help us win over the long season. Thats right, 12 more games to play. The only thing that, all things considered, is annoying to me is the rats claiming to be bucs fans constantly looking for scapegoats and demonstrating a very low football (nfl) IQ.

Reach87, why do you think he’s already the best ever? I think he needs to do more to even catch Josh Freeman who had better first three years of his career with so much less talented team around him, both on offense and defense, not to mention Brad Johnson who was really good in SB year.
First have better season than the one Freeman had when he threw for 25 TD’s and 6 INT’s and led the Bucs to a 10-6 record. And he had rookie Mike Williams as his best WR, think about that.
When you have better season than that, than we can start talking about Brad Johnson, and catching up to him.
You can say he’s the most talented QB we ever had, but the best, not even close, not yet.
