Should Dirk Koetter open up his offense quickly and flash all his weapons, or try to pound the rock early with Jacquizz Rodgers and see if his reworked offensive line can beat the Bears at the line of scrimmage?
So many variables Sunday, but one option should be a no-brainer.
“Get after Mike Glennon.” That was the word from former Bucs, Cardinals, Jets and Rams tight end Anthony Becht, who is part of the Buccaneers Radio Network.
Speaking on WDAE-AM 620 yesterday, Becht the Bucs are sure bet to pressure the Bears offense and test the blocking skills of their young running backs, rookie Tarik Cohen and second-year man Jordan Howard. And the Bucs know making Glennon move is critical.
“We know he’s not a mobile guy. We know that if you get him off point you can be successful,” Becht said. “I believe the Falcons got him four times [sacked]. That’s something to me that’s going to be [critical], especially talking about playing down here in the heat and trying to get on the same page. And I’m expecting a crowd that should be raucous in this game. They should be fun, home opener, a lot to be excited about. So hopefully all those things play to our advantage on defense.”
Hopefully, the Bucs’ four-man rush can be enough to pressure Glennon. However, Joe is not confident that will happen.
Joe would love to see the Bucs pressure Glennon early and often. Why? Big plays defensively could help put the game in the bag before the fourth quarter. The Bucs’ stamina after a terribly long and untimely layoff likely becomes an issue late in Sunday’s game.

I say offensively we start off with a flea-flicker the first play of the game to D. Jax and see if we can get a big play right off the bat. Defensively, I’d like to see us play tight man coverage, knocking receivers off of their routes. Take Glennon’s check downs away and make him have to hold the ball and take shots downfield. I don’t think they should play to Glennon’s strength, which is the dink and dunk. Play high-risk, high reward.

Get after Glennon? With who, Mr Yeasting? Maybe we can use some harsh language. We don’t have anyone that can rush the passer so I’m not sure what we can expect.

The Bears played surprisingly well, against Atlanta.
I think Atlanta had a bad day, because I don’t see them beating us.
In fact, I see them getting an old fashioned beatdown, against us this Sunday.
Hopefully, we sell out our home opener.

I don’t see a disadvantage for us. A Chicago team coming down to play in humidity and 90 degree weather will feel more drained than the Bucs who are used to living here since May or more. We are bringing the WOOD in the 4th qtr. Stick Carriers will be heard.
Glennon should bring his “A” game since he is trying to prove to Licht to not lower his money offer from earlier this year once he is released after the season. After a season in Chicago, Glennon will realize he is just clipboard worthy and will love to retire with the Bucs.
Chaos is coming to the House of Pain! Alexander will welcome Glennon back personally!!!!

Here is a thought for some of you…. Maybe Atlanta didn’t have there best game last week.
If you are embracing the history gods, then how about realizing this off-season is a lot like 2002. We finally got enough new players to reach the playoffs and we have a very realistic potential of dethroning Mr. Deflated and BillyCheat in 2017.

Yes…..getting after Glennon is a no-brainer. We haven’t proven that our front 4 can put enough pressure so…..let’s blitz, blitz, blitz…..sending our speedy LBs……and some CB & Safety blitzes are in order.
I agree we should look to take away his checkdowns and force Glennon to throw deep…….watch out for the checkdowns.

I have a strong feeling when we get in obvious passing downs you will see the following line up a good amount:
McCoy, Ayers and McDonald on the DL with Spence and David rushing from the outside.

which WR or TE should the bucs be afraid of? they should be leaving minimal guys in coverage and attacking the guys in the backfield – glennon, cohen, howard

No reason here to allow Glennon even a second of peace, Blitz him from defensive play #1 and dont ever let up. Coach K said Glennon waa “sworn to secrecy.” What a crock. He’s going to do anything and everything to try and midigate himself from ending up on the ground under one of our defenders and everything offensively possible to make sure he’s starting and not Trubisky. Blitz his arse EVERY FREAKING PLAY. Make him NEVER want to see Buccaneer Pewter and Red ever again.

Live by the blitz. Die by the blitz. Fox is not stupid. Posters are so smart. You think he has not already planned for that? This team looks good on paper. You don’t know what is going to show up. I would not put the cart before the horse. Have they solved the Red Zone problems yet? We shall see. Which defense is going to show up?

It’s funny how a nickname will make fans clamor for a player even when the player hasn’t proven anything. This season we got Swaggy, last season it was Spawn. Seems pretty simple to me. Give me a player that makes plays… I don’t give a crap about nicknames. Brooks, Sapp (QBKILLA), Barber, Lynch, Rice, they didn’t have nicknames…but the A-Train was loved by more fans than the other guys that were actually excellent players. I guess I just see a lot of hype with nicknames. Hype that players usually don’t live up to.

How do you offset a pass rush when you have an immobile QB and a very quick RB? Screens… and lots of them. Bucs should be aware.

The long unexpected wait for the start of the season will undoubtedly be GMCs excuse as to why he not only didn’t get a sack but no QB pressure. Joe and the rest of the crew will agree with him and give him a pass. Then GMC can work on his excuse for the next game.

Maybe we haven’t gotten any real good on field reps in a month, but I am also hoping when everyone fled from Irma they were at least trying to get some serious gym time in and not just sitting on the couch eating chips and drinking beer watching the U.S. Open.
