The NFL’s 12th Oldest Roster
September 4th, 2017Tampa Bay can’t say it’s a young team any longer.
Sure, the Bucs have key young cogs in Kwon Alexander, Mike Evans, Vernon Hargreaves and America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston. However, the roster as a whole is old by NFL standards.
Before Saturday’s night’s signing of 30-year-old safety T.J. Ward, the Bucs were the 12th-oldest, 53-man roster in the NFL, per the annual study by Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice. The Cardinals were the oldest, followed by the Panthers, Bills and Dolphins, the Bucs’ opening day opponent.
And the trade of 26-year-old safety J.J. Wilcox to make room for Ward didn’t make the Bucs younger.
The Bucs’ ranking is no surprise. The defensive is filled with veterans, and the D-line is old by league standards.
Old, young, Joe doesn’t care. Just win.
When the Bucs won 10 games in 2010, they had a ridiculously young roster, starting 10 rookies throughout the season, from Ted Larsen to Gerald McCoy, Mike Williams, LeGarrette Blount and others. It was an amazing feat — followed by an amazing collapse the following season.

Any news on the possibility of a postponement due to Irma. Unless we have a forecast change, Miami could have a weather problem.

Great point JA. Maybe they would move it to Tampa.

Joe, speaking of TJ Ward, is there any news about the health of him hamstring? Is he still going to need bench time to finish healing?

@Dreambig—Tampa would be nice. Even if it came out way, they’d still have enough time to get the game in before it arrives.

I’d advise Koetter and Licht to get to the playoffs.
The Glazer boys ain’t a very patient bunch.
Especially if the “stockholders” get antsy.

Why not trade Chris toast Conte.

How old is Mr Yeasting? I’m sure his old and highly ineffective aas is bringing that age average way up. But he has good speeches, right? Guess anything passes for badassery these days because his tape sucks.

If Wilcox wasn’t good enough to win a starting job here what the hell was he doing here in the first place? We are just chasing our tail

I’m curious about how folks feel about locking up #3. I get all the reasons it’s “impossible”.
But is it really that big of a gamble. Obviously health is a major concern…what if he gets hurt. But the cap is going up…#3 is a bargain right now because he’s on his rookie contract…what if we could engineer a deal that would appeal to he and his agent for the long term…give him some $$$ now that would make up for his lack of pay now…in exchange he’s gives up some $$$ in the out years.
It worked great with GMC…just wish we could make sure #3 stays a Buc.

He isn’t going anywhere.

Middle of the pack is good.
All the key stars are young

There were a lot of oldies on Chucky’s teams. This one is a big improvement. Backup QB stinks tho. Go Bucs, and go away Irma!!

Your team is as young or as old as your franchise QB.

Jameis, Evans, OJ, Brate, Godwin + Marpet, Smith, Pamphile + Spence, Kwon, Hargreaves … ELEVEN YOUNG STUDS … the rest can be veterans!
