Keep Going!
September 3rd, 2017So it seems the Bucs — as Joe is typing this in the wee hours of the morning — are on the verge of signing former Pro Bowl safety T.J. Ward.
It seems urgency is the word of the day.
If Licht is being that aggressive, why stop now? Why not roll the dice again?
Joe is of the mind that the Bucs’ edge rush stinks out loud. The Bucs seem to be drooling that Jacquies Smith may return in the early weeks of the season.
Come. On!
Banking on Smith to be the answer to the decade-long woes of the edge rush for this team is like banking on your retirement by spending $40 each week on the Powerball lottery. Smith is a walking injured reserve list. Joe has nothing against him, but facts are facts. If you cannot get on the field, how can you impact a game?
Smith, the oft-injured defensive end, simply cannot be trusted. Hoping he is the answer is hoping the tooth fairy leaves plenty of change under your pillow tonight.
Joe suggests Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht go throw money instead in the face of recently retired DeMarcus Ware. True, Ware hasn’t had double-digit sacks in two years for the Broncos. But this just in: no one on the Bucs roster has either! At least Ware has eight double-digit sack seasons in his career.
If Licht is willing to dumpster dive for Ward, why not make Ware an offer he cannot refuse to return to the game. Joe has more confidence in Ware getting 10 sacks than anyone on the Bucs roster not named Gerald McCoy.

As painful as it is typing from my phone on our beloved site, I can’t resist. Bringing ward says we are tired of losing and we’re coming for the division. It’s also saying we have some raw talent that will get better with a veteran presence. I’m so on board. Hope we find atleast one more. Maybe rb? I love doug. I’m of the few…….just hope we get through this and he produces. This team is going to take themselves or restrict themselves. Love what we have going!

And my last post sounds meh. I know. I just see stuff. And I’m in Cali which hasn’t helped……ever!

I have confidence the Spence will breakout at DE

Seriously… we know who typed this. Anquan Bolden.. Trade C. Brate now waste a roster spot on Ware. Come. On.

“THIS IS NOT HOW YOU BUILD A SUCCESSFUL WINNING TEAM”
GM Kobe Faker

Yeah, our GM is asleep at the wheel once again and now our entire defense will be functionally inept because of it. How can he honestly look at the talent assembled on the Dline with the likes of Mr Yeasting and Fatty Baker and tell the team and the fans that the pass rush has been addressed? Licht is panicking

The Falcons defense blew up last year bc Vic Beasley grew into a beast and not because they threw cash at washed up Dwight Freeney. That’s what the Bucs need too: Spence to develop, and he ain’t gunna do that on the bench.

Why is my comment still waiting for a moderator? We’re there any unwritten rules broken?

I have looked at the cut lists and it’s amazing how thin those DE cuts are, or they are clearly not worth pursin. DE might be the most needed position in the league. QB? Yes. But you only need one QB…..

Your name is a joke CO lol
You should rename yourself *EntirelyPessimistic

I wouldn’t consider T.J. Ward dumpster diving.

Again…our TEAM D was 11th in the league in sacks last year!!! Because yards lost on the sacks is also counted we were 11th but in raw numbers we tied for 9th!!! We had more sacks that the Pats! Gmen! Falcons and Saints…only Carolina topped us in our division.
What is all this wailing and gnashing of teeth. We were a top ten sack team last year. Do sacks not generated by a “traditional” DE not count? Listen I want a great pass rush as much as anybody but we’re not nearly as far behind the 8ball as is being posted here!!!
We have the talent to get after the passer although I believe we have ended up with personnel perhaps more suited to a 3-4 D. I love Noah but he’s simply to small to go up against massive NFL LT’s…we need to use his speed and athleticism. We’ll go broke trying to cash in on Noah’s bull rush.

Joe you on fire this morning, i agree with everything you said.. signing d ware could make our defense the best in the league

TJ Ward is a great player. He’s been playing at a pro bowl level since his days in Cleveland. He even has a Super Bowl Ring. This guy could very well be a future hall of famer, I wouldn’t call that dumpster diving.

There are some seriously ignorant fans on this site. When a player like Von Miller is devastated that he’s losing what he called the leader of the Denver “no fly zone” who many feel is coming off his best statistical season… you pay attention.
Whoever says the Bucs are dumpster diving with this signing does not understand one iota of football. The Bucs are bringing in a defensive stud with a Super Bowl ring. How many of those guys are currently in the locker room? How many leaders with rings are in that Bucs locker room? I’ll wait while you naysayers go and look it up.
Terrific signing.

Stpwtebucfan. It’s Bc the d line couldn’t consistently bring pressure to the QB. We had to blitz LB to get the sack numbers we had. A true pass rush only needs the four down linemen. We were no were near the top of the league when you factor that in.

Why not sign Simeon Rice out of retirement? He had quite a few double digit sack seasons in his career too.
Joe? Really?
