Stevie T., DaVonte Lambert On Injured Reserve
September 1st, 2017Tough break for two young Bucs defensive linemen.
Second-year man DaVonte Lambert was injured against the Browns on Saturday and now his season is officially finished. Lambert, 23, started five games last season.
Rookie defensive tackle Stevie Tu’ikolovatu, a seventh-round pick, was surprisingly held out of last night’s game — and now we know why.
Both were placed on injured reserve this afternoon, which means their 2017 seasons are over. No official word was given on the specifics of their injuries.
Joe expects to see both to be offered another shot with the Bucs next season, assuming they’re healthy.

Damn…Stevie T does not have many more years to burn…can he reach a injury settlement then brought back after clearing waivers ?….lots of games being played with rosters next few days…

Shame. Hope they get another shot.

It’s a nice way to get the guys a payday – glad for Stevie that he’ll get a steady check, hopefully he can invest his money wisely and won’t blow it so he doesn’t end up living in a truck again. I mean that seriously, not be snarky. He’s 26 and like Ego said he doesn’t heave years to burn.

Glad we found a way to hang onto Stevie T another year. He may be 26 but he’s not ready for prime time yet – and this gets him a nice paycheck and buys the Bucs another year and offseason to develop him.

Wish we could do the same with Joe Dirt, Cam Lynch and JMac (if they are considering cutting him and trying to sneak him on the practice squad which may not work).

Lambert a loss for sure. Steve T was pretty bad.

Can someone explain the I.R. rules to me.
Are the guys allowed inside of One Buc? Just for therapy? Or can they actually begin working on their games?

Generally, these players may not practice or return to the Active List for the rest of the season (including postseason games or the Pro Bowl) in which they are placed on injured reserve, but are allowed to be with the team.

They can attend all team meetings, and can work individually with conditioning coaches to rehab injury, but they can’t actually run through plays on the practice field (they can be in attendance at practices and games – on the sidelines – in order to do ‘mental reps’). For non-vested players, they get paid at the ‘low’ end of the scale for IR – about $19500 per week for the rest of the season, or until they are cut or issued an injury settlement.

Man, 20 grand a week. Good for those guys. Especially Stevie. Hope he gets well and develops so we can see him next year.
