“Making Sure Our Body Language Is Infectious”

August 16th, 2017

It’s so rare to get any kind of glimpse into how America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is coached up within the pearly gates of One Buc Palace.

We got that last night on Hard Knocks.

In a scene in which quarterbacks coach Mike Bajakian is lecturing his QBs on the field about how football “is a game of momentum,” Bajakian tells his troops that they can control that in various ways.

Among them, per Bajakian, is getting in and out of the huddle quickly and confidently. And Bajakian tells Jameis and friends that they should be “making sure our body language is infectious.”

Interesting metaphysical kind of line there. That’s a very Jameis thing. Jameis is all about leading with every fiber of his being — mind, body and spirit.

Perhaps the best part of that scene is the Stick Carriers chanting heard. “We ready. We ready. Weee reh-deeee Tampa Baaayy!” Keep in mind the Training Camp Takeover crowd was probably 50 yards away, and there was a music bed under Bajakian’s chatter.

There were so many super insightful moment with Jameis and his leadership. It was so awesome to see. This is a guy you want in your corner.
When he told the backup line men to laugh it up after Ryan Griffin got hurt, pretty impactful stuff. Young o-line dudes looked like little children after that.

It was AWESOME to hear the Stick Carriers and Jameis celebrating them.

Its baffling to think JW will most likely be in Tampa for the next decade if not more. How lucky are we? Then add our GM and coaching staff!!! At least 3 Lombardis are coming our way within that time.

I am loving Hard Knocks!!!!! I wish we could see this every pre-season.

    What a treat!!

Agree completely about the little “lecture” given the OL who were yukking it up while Griffin was in the locker room…out for a month and pondering his football future.

I think HK has been as great as expected in terms of exposing the leadership qualities of #3. We’ve all seen the scene out on the field with the stick carriers chanting his name a thousand times. We know #3 can be a charged up fiery guy.

But to watch the way he delivered that admonition to the OL…very quietly…one sarcastic sentence to make them think…and walking quickly away. Didn’t need to show he was boss…make a big scene…just quietly let them know.

Same with that locker room scene where he went around and very quietly touched players on the back and said “I’ve got your back”. That moved me far more than the fiery #3 we get to see each week.

    Yeah I’m a homer…but I’ve loved the first two HK’s.

he’s a true leader of men….the way those oline looked when jameis told them, “ryan is hurt but keep having fun” was a thing of beauty….they looked as if their dad said,” keep talking and im going to tear yall a$$ up!!!”…GO BUCS!!!!

You don’t always have to shout to get your point across. That exchange with the OL guys showed me he sees the big picture. Like a QB who sees the whole field, Jameis took charge of the sideline. Very impressive leadership quality for such a young QB. He seems comfortable leading this team, also liked how he accepts responsibility for his mistakes.

@Stpete I LOVED that scene in the locker room. Jameis is the man. he goes to damn near every player telling them he’s got their back. Another poster on another article made a great point; he then went and proved it by scolding those linemen. And the scene where he is going around preaching and encouraging the team, it amazing to see and then says ‘I am about to get quite and get in my zone’. It gave me goose bumps
