Notes From Day 9 Of Bucs Training Camp
August 7th, 2017An abbreviated addition of notes from Day 9 of Bucs 2017 training camp.
* America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, looking smooth today hitting Mike Evans and Cam Brate.
* Doug Martin breaks off run up the middle where he sort of juked like Darren Sproles. Joe sure didn’t see this speed or elusiveness nor vision last year whatsoever. Martin looks like a totally different running back.
* Jameis goes deep for Chris Godwin down the left sideline and… it… is… A TOUCHDOWN!
* Vernon Hargreaves limping and goes off the field. He returned later so whatever ailed him couldn’t have been bad otherwise he would have been held out.
* Just when you thought Roberto Aguayo was starting to pull away from Nick Folk — SPLAT! Both kickers miss from 40-plus yards. (Full story on home page).
* Adam Humphries (Rudy!) wide, wide open on a crossing pattern from the right. Complete from Jameis. Humphries is having a helluva camp.
* Tight end Cam Brate is having a fine morning, not that he has had a bad practice this summer. He’s ready for the regular season.
* Jameis throws a dart to O.J. Howard down the right seam.
* Jameis is sharp in 7-on-7 drills.
* Although the play was over. CFL legend Derel Walker has ball punched out of his hands after a catch. It’s barely August and the dude already has a rep.

“It’s barely August and the dude already has a rep.”
What does that mean?..

He has a reputation (“rep”) for not securing the football.

hump is honestly the man he just keeps proving everyone wrong I gotta admit with the early review on Godwin it’s making it a hard decision of who I want in the slot but honestly hump is playing so good I don’t think you can take his spot away he’s come a long way proud of that dude

Joe, could there be something to who is holding the ball for the kickers? It seems like Aguayo has had problems since he got here and now Folk is looking just as bad. Not trying to make any excuses, but it is a possibility…

I have noticed this camp note about him. No good.
Walker is learning in camp how different defense is from CFL to NFL. On top of just being better athletes, NFL defenders are smarter and more aggressive with ball hawk instincts. Play through the whistle kid!!! This is a great lesson for him.
With that said, he has a real shot at WR5. I like his CFL experience and I think he will get better.

Here we go again. These “fumbles” are after the play is over. Same with OJ Howard getting “stripped” after he went out of bounds…

@Kstoges
I know right. I’ve been waiting for one of them to drop a single pass for the determination. But I’m thinking more of Hump in the red zone and Godwin down field. Godwin is taller and he is going up like Mike Evans to make grabs. Godwin is also a good downfield blocker. Hump has always been good in the red zone on the slant or comeback.

So DM is really looking like the 2015 version of himself.. What a weapon to add to an already impressive grouping after a few week of the start of the season if everything pans out for this man. Dangerous comes to my mind because if history tell’s us anything no matter how potent downfield targets may be in coach K’s offensive scheme the man wants to “pound that rock”.

Possible.
