Opponents of the Bucs should be afraid. Very afraid.
Bucky Brooks over at NFL.com decided to do a list (hey, it’s summertime, why not?) of the most feared position groups in the NFL. Brooks listed the wide receivers of the Bucs at No. 5.
When the Buccaneers paired one of the best young WR1s in the game with one of the most prolific big-play threats in NFL history, they guaranteed defensive coordinators around the league will hear plenty of frustrating cannon fire when they stand on the sidelines of Raymond James Stadium. The combination of Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson is arguably the best 1-2 punch in the league, with each pass catcher capable of flipping the field with a big play against one-on-one coverage. If opponents attempt to double-team the tandem with Cover 2 or an exotic bracket-coverage combination, the Bucs have a pair of playmaking tight ends (Cameron Brate and first-round pick O.J. Howard) with the athleticism and movement skills to terrorize opponents between the hashes and in the red zone.
With an underrated “chain mover” like Adam Humphries also available to wear out nickel defenders in the slot, the Buccaneers’ dynamic receiving corps will allow Jameis Winston to ring up dizzying fantasy numbers as the director of one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses.
Joe cannot remember the last time the Bucs had a position group that struck terror into opponents — since the dominating Super Bowl defense.
Just think of how quickly this receiving corps has transformed. Last year, outside of Mike Evans, the only thing the receivers as a group did to scare defenses was causing them to soil their briefs from laughter.
My, what a difference a year can make.

Bucs fans are in for a treat with this offense. Now is time to really see Koetter carry his STICK! The ball is now really on Koetter’s court. HC & OC begin the magic show. Make opposing defenses disappear. Fans want to see the scrubs play in the 4th quarter.
Oh and I can wait to see Smitty’s magic show too!

No thanks on Mixon. We don’t need the RRb that hits girls. He could turn a corner in his life and be one helluva a pro, but no thanks.
I think McNichols is going to be a pleasant surprise.

Tend to get concerned when folks continually tell me how great something is gonna based solely on potential. In this case, the Bucs offense has a number of new moving parts & some other parts with relatively limited body of work. This offense has great potential for sure, but I wish folks would put it in that context rather than showering it with accolades it hasn’t yet earned. It also assumes that Jameis will take a big step forward in running this offense … cut down on turnovers, improve his accuracy to hit guys ‘on the fly’ more often, improve his deep ball touch, etc. Personally I believe that’ll happen, but that ‘big step forward’ puts a lot of additional pressure on not just Jameis, but also our OLine to protect him.

Jameis still has to actually put the ball in deseans hands. He has a habbit of overthrowing him and I susoect its going to take him time to get used to his speed and smaller size. Javkson cant go up for the jump balls evans and benjamin used to to. I expect howard to be targeted just as much if not more than desean

Anyone who wanted to take Mixon over Howard is not thinking correctly.. Sorry. Howard has the ability to transform this offense into something that is nearly indefensible. Top 5 on the Bucs draft board.
If Mixon was on the board when our second pick rolled up, then I would listen to that argument. Trading up in this years draft, especially in the first three rounds was very expensive.
I admit, I wasn’t excited about the safety pick in the second, but no way do I trade him and Godwin for Mixon. I don’t trade those two for Dalvin Cook and I was really high on him.

Nobody Fears the Tampa Bay Bucs. To be truly feared, you have to be a winner. A consistent hard hitting..make’em pay winner. And this..is yet to be seen. WIN and start knockin some people out..like Sapp/Brooks/Lynch..our champs of old did. Then, you will be feared. Until Then? Teams can’t wait to see what..you supposedly got on paper.

It was ME, VJax, Hump, and ASJ before. Now, it’s ME, DJax, Hump, Godwin, Brate, and Howard. How AREN’T you excited?!
Man, I know it’s tough being a Buc fan but, the off-season is time for optimism. We were 9-7 last year with no run-game and ONE legitimate WR.

I recall our Quarterbacks that year being Tank artist Josh McClown and Shaky Mike Glennon.
Not to mention we really did have the worst Oline in football that year. In addition to ASJ proving to be an unproductive injury prone head case.
Only a person as ignorant as yourself would compare this current roster to the one from 2014. You are simply being negative to be negative.

I’d take Tampa’s receiving corps over every other team’s corps including the Giants
Tampa: Evans, Jackson, Godwin, OJ, Bate, Humphries … no team can touch that top 6 imho.
IMO it shows the Bucs truly believe Jameis is their savior and “the reason” they will win in the future.
Most teams don’t believe in their QBs like that …
